Why does it say that I was killed?

Achiara?

Episode 1Achiara

Two Years Ago

Achiara's entrance.

I guess I underestimated you.

What are you talking about?

Blue jacket,

mustache, sunglasses.

Honey, perhaps . . .

Tomorrow, "Culture Daily" will have a special issue with two pages about you.

What?

"Outstanding New Artist". It will be spectacular.

Prepare for the interview.

Aigoo.

Nice to see you.

Aigoo. You arrived.

What do you think?

All of the work is out here but..

Oh, you arrived.

Congratulations!

Your debut is amazing.

Excuse me.

You created a lot.

- Enjoy your time here.- Thank you.

Oh!

Are you okay? Be careful.

Are you okay?

Yes.

It's cool.

Really?

I can't teach you anything now.

Mom.

I went to aunt's pharmacy and stopped by for just a second.

Really! Today is my first time...

Can you leave us alone for a moment?

It's been a long time since I've seen you.

You!

I got a job in Korea.

At a school in Achiara, Gangwon Province.

Someone sent me a letter from there.

However, Grandma kept it hidden.

Why did Grandma do that?

Anyways, I think someone called me there.

[Achiara]

The body of a woman in her twenties found last Friday,

was confirmed to be a college student.

The police is considering it to be the work of the "Rainy Wednesday" serial killer case, behind several murders-

Yet another murdered person.

Excuse me Miss! How far are you going?

To Achiara!

If you can help it, don't go around at night at days like this.

Why?

Didn't you hear that?

On rainy Wednesdays, there is a crazy rapist walking about.

Is it five, or six women he has abused?

Aigoo, what is this world becoming?

The apartment you are looking for is here.

It is close to the bus stop.

You got lost because of the darkness.

Once you go out, go straight for 50 meters and turn left. After you cross the street, you'll be able to see it.

Thank you.

It is late typhoon season, so there is a lot of rain.

Return this back in a night.

Is it scary being alone at night?

No, there is nothing strange with rainy Wednesdays.

And today happens to be Wednesday.

Aren't you the new teacher at Haewon school?

How did you know?

This is a small place.

I heard about the new teacher. So when a new face appears like this, of course I assume it is you.

Don't worry. Our village is safe.

You see, there has not been a crime here for about 10 years.

I was worried for no reason.

Ms. Han So Yoon! -Yes!

- You are very late.- I'm sorry!

Come this way.

Please be careful.

Why is it raining so much?

I'm really sorry I got here so late.

With that long way, of course I understand.

Here it is.

Go in.

The young lady that lived here before had such a good taste, so I just left it like this.

This table, these curtains, and decorations like those.

If you don't like them, you can get rid of them.

No I like it.

It's unusual and pretty.

Okay that;s good. If you need anything, contact me.

Thank you!

The new Ms?

Yes.

I live right next door. Room 202.

Yes.

This room always seems to only have pretty girls in here.

Miss, live for a long time.

Don't dissapear tracelessly.

- Good morning teacher!- Hello!

Hello.

Hae Won Junior and Senior High Our school's educational philosophy is to be a global leader.

That's why, from Canada,

we brought teacher Han So Yoon to teach English.

Teacher Han was born in Canada, so she is a native speaker.

Not only will she teach our students authentic English but

she will also help the rest of our staff with their supplementary English.

You will resolve them, right?

Even in Seoul, you'll be hard pressed to find another school with this kind of facilities.

Furthermore, hiring a native speaker as our full time teacher?

That is precisely where our school's philosophy shines through.

Don't skimp on investing in education. This small country school is a force to be reckoned with.

Since you pass by, Teacher Nam.

Ah, say hello.

This is the new, foreign teacher. Han So Yoon.

This is our art teacher, Nam Gong Woo.

That...!

He is some artist...

So, what you're telling me is that you don't know your resident registration number?

It was when I was really young...

You don't know your own number and you don't know your parent's number.

How are you going to find your relatives?

There's no one I know in Korea.

But a letter came to me.

If it's not my relatives, then how would anyone know about my existence in Canada?

I'm sure there is a relative.

Seeing that my grandmother on my mother's side didn't say anything, I'm sure it's from my father's side.

Excuse me, we're not an organization that finds people.

I felt as if the person who sent the letter was trying to tell me something. Something very important.

There's no rule that says that person is your relative.

And even if you were born in Korea, there are no records here.

We can't prove you exist at all.

So how can we find your relatives? It's impossible.

Next person.

There is nothing wrong with your ovaries.

And there are no new cysts.

It's clean.

Won't there be another way?

Induced ovulation is not very reliable, so IVF is the best option.

Ask your husband for help.

You're not young and it's not something that will work if only the woman's side tries.

Are you going to kill me?

What's with you? You normally dislike coming here.

Are you really going to go hunting?

I told you it was an appointment that was set from a month ago.

You haven't seen Gi Hyeon for two years.

So? Are you telling me to go and greet my grown-up son at the airport?

He's not a young kid. Let's stop fussing about him, wife.

Why, is there something you want to say?

I met up with Dr. Choi.

Do you still go there?

What do you mean by "still"?

I'm 60 in 2 days.

And you are in your mid 40s. It's time to stop trying.

You said you wanted a child too.

That was 10 years ago.

You already have a child, so why keep nagging about a child, in your age?

Timing and subtitles brought To You By The Truth Seekers Team @ Viki

No!

"Little Pond"?

In old Korean "Achi" means small, and "Ara" pond.

Achiara.

It does not seem like a small pond to me, though. More like a lake.

Don't come here at night.

There is a brutal monster living by the waterside, you see.

It'll grab your ankle tightly.

Our teacher Nam is speaking nonsense again.

The reason why the citizens of Achiara can't leave,

is because they say that they get grabbed by their ankles.

You're all from here, right?

-Of course.-Yes.

What about the people from here who are living well in America, France, and even Africa?

Teacher Nam, she's already shy enough. Stop teasing her.

Aigoo, should we check up on the kids now?

It's time for them to slowly start doing something else.

- Yes, I'm going. - Let's go.

Let's go together.

Teacher Han won't find it easy to leave this village either.

The water Monster's is pretty strong.

But, does Canada hold drawing contests too?

No. I think we just had picnics.

It's different from school to school though.

It is very difficult to watch the children when they are outside.

They're doing something weird somewhere and you worry if they will cause an accident somewhere.

Hey, you guys what are you doing there!

Aish these rascals.

Teacher are you okay?

Ah, those rascals shouldn't go there.

I'll go check on them.

Okay.

Yes.

You guys! Did you forget the principal's words from this morning?

Even though the bad weather is over, there is still a risk for landslides,

you shouldn't go into the woods-

Who are you?

The new English teacher, and I'm having Middle school art classes.

But you are not teaching seniors?

I can't, because of your entrance exams.

Put out your cigarette light. Come out right now.

Teacher mind your own business. You're not even our teacher.

-She's running, running. -Oh.

- Leaping!

Teacher!

Teacher, are you okay?

Should we go and rescue you?

I'm ok.

Teacher, what's wrong?

Is it a snake?

Teacher, did a snake appear?

- Teacher! - Stay there!

Don't come closer!

Hold my hand, okay.

Hold it.

Come up, slowly.

Are you okay?

Oh, Father!

Next time hire a professional to fix your roof.

I feel like I'm really going to die like this. Seriously.

Someone's calling you!

Hello. This is Achiara Village Police, Officer Park.

What, a corpse?!

Miss.

Are you looking for someone?

What's up with your hair?

What do you mean, I wanted to look good for my girlfriend.

Have you been well?

The Village is still the same.

It's always the same. That's our village trademark.

How is Father?

He's busy with his hobbies these days. Hunting and golf.

Lately, the women's front have been a bit quiet.

Mother, you're okay right?

I'm fine. I'm really good.

What's going on?

Move back!

Please calm down!

Elder, it's dangerous!

-Mother. -Back up. If you stick to the car, it'll be dangerous so back up.

The car has to move out later so all of you move back, move back.

Ahjussi, is it a female corpse? How-

It was a serial killer, right?

You know the Wednesday thing on a rainy night. Right?

Did that woman get attacked?

She did, didn't she?

Of course she must have gotten attacked since it's a serial killer case.

Does that mean a serial killer lives in our village?

Ai ahjussi, please stop asking.

There lots of branches between the dirt.

And there were exposed tree roots.

That...

was also the same as the tree branches in the beginning.

But?

I was about to go back up but then suddenly,

I felt like someone called out for me.

What did you say?

I can't explain it differently.

You came early.

My shift ended already.

A sudden corpse appeared.

Corpse?

Do you know who found that corpse?

Don't do this. I told you to be careful.

Talking about global era or whatnot, a woman the principal hired

found a corpse on the school grounds.

She just returned to Korea, and a corpse appeared. Isn't it funny?

Corpse? Was what you were talking about true?

Then did you think it was something I fabricated?

Do you have something for indigestion?

What are your symptoms?

I feel nauseous in the morning.

Then take these. These are in liquid form and the ones that are popular these days are these.

They're pill. Take them after you eat everyday.

Ah, I said we don't know if it's a man or a woman either.

How can we know if it is the serial killer?

If you keep being like this, you're really going to be disrupting the investigation.

You have to cooperate so we can-

T-there, there, there!

Look over there!

Please!

Please keep them out!

Hey, hurry. Hurry up and move the ambulance.

Back up!

Hey, stay there.

Senior, could it really be a serial killer case?

If it really is, how great would that be?

You came for good this time, right? You're not going back again, right?

How many time do I have to say it?

Until the day you die, I'm staying right here.

Aigoo, this rascal. You're teasing me because I'm old.

I thought you might want to snack on something while you're talking.

Take all the time you want to talk.

Since Yoo Na's dad is coming home a little late, I'll take my time preparing dinner.

Why are you taking so much time?

Are you planning to eavesdrop and see what we're talking about?

Grandmother.

Were you uncomfortable because of me, mother-in-law? I'll leave.

How can you talk like that?

Vixen-like thing. And your father doesn't even listen to my words. subtitles ripped and synced by riri13

You can never leave this house, understand?

-Grandmother. -You should at least protect it.

Before that wench takes all of your father's wealth and possessions.

What? You want Gi Hyeon to be the school's chairman of the board?

The person who should be the chairman is now too old.

So, there's no other way but to hand over the chair to someone young like Gi Hyeon.

I made him come back to Korea so he could work for the company and learn the ropes.

What are you saying all of a sudden?

You should just give that type of stuff to this person-

I think that Mother has made a wise decision.

The chairman of the board doesn't have to show up at the school every day, and Mother, with all your experience, you'll teach him.

Learning the ropes at the company while being the chairman of the board, I think Gi Hyeon will do both very well.

Then that means you're going to be the owner of our school.

Totally awesome.

Where did you learn your manners?

And what is with that ridiculous appearance?

This ridiculous appearance was a present from Oppa, who welcomes your love, grandma.

Ah...

kids Yoo Na's age dress up like that in the States.

It's my fault, grandma. I couldn't analyze the situation.

The reason why I'm late to dinner is because there was something shocking and I had to calm down my heart.

The reason why I ate food with my hands

is because that shock is still apparent so I lost my mind temporarily.

I'm back to normal now.

What could have shocked our cute puppy?

They found a corpse. It's so old that it's totally decomposed.

Yoo Na.

I'm not kidding. All the teachers scattered and there was police everywhere.

Everyone says it might even be a serial killer.

Ah, you wouldn't know.

These days, whenever we have a rainy Wednesday, there's a crazy guy going around raping women and chopping them up.

Yoo Na, go to your room.

Why? Because grandma might feel bad?

You don't have to worry, grandma.

Because that crazy person won't ever touch oldies.

Unless a new serial killer appears who only goes after old women.

Seo Yoo Na! Go up right now!

I'm sorry, mother-in-law.

That girl, she's definitely possessed.

She's unusual. Disgustingly unusual.

I guess you're coming back now.

Yes.

What did the police say about that corpse?

The news has spread all over the village. You were the one who discovered it, right?

So, what did the police say about that corpse?

They didn't say anything.

Didn't they say that the corpse was of that woman?

-What? -There's only that 1 woman who disappeared in our village.

The corpse is that woman, right?

Who is that woman?

What do you mean who?

The woman who used to live in this house.

The woman who used to live here disappeared?

Yes.

The woman who lives here has discovered the woman who used to live here.

How can there be such a coincidence?

Gapyeong,

Cheong Pyeong,

Namyangju. Namyangju.

I'm almost certain that they were all done by the same person.

Pocheon, and lastly,

Achiara.

Do you feel something?

I feel something that's coming up. It's electrifying.

Woo Jae, hey.

Hey, the land here is small enough as it is.

Don't you think you should draw Korea well? Like this, the land sticks out.

Ulleungdo should be like this. Dock Do, you draw that one!

You drew well.

Senior! Can't you realize it even when you see it?

1,2,3,4,5!

Look at the pattern in these numbers.

This bastard has been committing murder for the past 6 months, going from east to west.

And here, Achiara.

You heard that the corpse found yesterday would have to be at least 2 years old, right?

So what?

There is a high possibility that even though the discovery of the Achiara corpse was discovered last,

it could have been the first murder of the serial killer who strikes on a rainy Wednesday night.

Yes.

I understand. I listened well.

The killer is currenly moving towards the west.

The next murder will probably happen... here, Dongducheon.

Hey.

It's a 30-40 minute distance. Would that killer go around having a vacation?

Anyway, if we look at the map-

There's no 'anyway'. Woo Jae,

This is not America.

Are those lines drawn to show the continent's growth? Our land is not that big.

Is that all one neighborhood?

That the murderer is moving around while committing these murders...

I might be going overboard but-

You are.

Ah, still. Isn't there still a possibility that our corpse was the first one-

No. There's a phone call. Hurry up and answer it.

I'll assist you the best I can. I'm officer Park Woo Jae from the Achiara police station.

What can I help you with?

Yes. I understand.

Yes, the phone has been switched. I'm officer Han Joon Seok from the Achiara police office.

Yes, speak.

Yes.

Ah, yes. I understand. I'll investigate and give you the report soon.

Yes. I understand.

Yes. Go in safely.

What do they say?

It's a female and it looks like she's been dead for a year and a half to two years.

She has a skull fracture and

it's positive that she was raped.

It's not clear what exactly happened but

there's a high chance that she was strangled to death.

Asa!

Ah, you really.

Don't be so happy. No matter what, 90% of

unnatural death cases are

So what you're saying is to figure out the missing persons by each district.

Pull yourself together, Woo Jae.

Please pull yourself together.

No matter what, the police station has jurisdiction over murder cases and we just do their errands.

Well, we need can't only run errands.

It's a case that happened in our village. Our village.

Homeroom teacher? Me?

This morning, Teacher Jong went into labor, prematurely.

I am also about to flip.

First a corpse appears in the drawing competition, then a baby appears at 7 months pregnancy.

I don't really have the confidence to do well...

Your earlier homeroom teacher became a mother sooner than expected, and I am not

going to be at her level.

However, with this faith, let's get along together well.

Teacher. You're the corpse teacher, right?

What are you talking about?

The teacher who discovered the corpse. Corpse teacher.

That is a horrid thing to call someone, Corpse Teacher.

Are you Seo Yoo Na?

She's Seo Yoo Na.

Are you walking away to avoid me?

Ah...I thought I disturbed you.

No, you're not.

I heard you became a homeroom teacher.

Yes.

Sounds tough.

The kids call me corpse teacher.

Corpse teacher?

Is it funny?

No.

You should not worry about the children's nicknames...

I find it cruel and absurd.

That's my classroom.

Teacher Han is not dead!

What do you know?

You never even spoke to her!

What's going on?

Seo Yoo Na. You're Yoo Na, right?

Yoo Na, can you come down from there first?

That place is too dangerous.

Come here. Calm down.

That corpse isn't Teacher Hye Jin.

Who said that? Who said that the corpse was Teacher Hye Jin?

That Teacher Hye Jin was murdered and raped...

Did you guys say that?

These obnoxious liars?

You don't think that they would know something that even the police doesn't know about, right?

Teacher, it's not a lie.

If it's not a lie, then what is it?

Authors, or fantasists?

If it's not that, then should we go to the police station to confirm it?

I said it wasn't too.

It's not.

Replying to this nonsense is not worth it.

And it's really not worth smashing windows, throwing chairs and screaming either.

That corpse is definitely not Teacher Hye Jin.

The ease of access to the metropolitan area, you can't compare it to Chuncheon.

Once we get the permit for road work, it will be at the same distance from the metropolitan area.

Once the roads are put in, tourist development will follow soon after.

Um, Congressman.

There is a call...

Just a moment.

Yes, what is it?

Yes, I blocked it as much as I could until now but it'll be hard to do it anymore.

Look here, Captain Park.

Is a corpse coming out from the forest that big of a deal?

But if it comes out in the news,

all of Korea will be ranting about it.

Ah, Congressman. Calm down.

I already told you that this is a very important time.

I'm with the Cultural Minister right now.

Look here.

So, are you going to take the responsibility if this development project comes to a halt over one corpse?

Aren't you curious about why I fought with the kids?

Why? Are you going to tell me if I'm curious?

They said the corpse was Teacher Hye Jin's.

They say the serial killer killed Teacher Hye Jin.

Do you think that too?

I don't think of anything.

Why?

Because I don't care about Teacher Hye Jin or the serial killer.

Lies.

You were so happy, because Teacher Hye Jin vanished.

Let's not tell what happened today to your dad. He'll worry.

And...

don't ever bring up anything

about Kim Hye Jin in front of me.

Why are you hitting me? Ah, it hurts!

I said it hurts!

Someone who knows about hurting, how can you tear my heart to pieces?

Are you a human? You disrespectful jerk.

Ahjusshi! If you continue this, you can get charged for interrupting the police.

Please listen to my words until the end.

I'm not saying your daughter passed away.

I just want to identify the corpse.

That's why I need your DNA...

You rascal. Corpse. Corpse?

Did you just say corpse?

You don't need to have your tongue out, though.

Elder, you can close your mouth now.

Hello!

I'm Officer Park Woo Jae from the Achiara police station.

You're the teacher that reported it, right?

About the corpse by the lake.

Yes.

Thank you for reporting it and for your testimony.

What is your thought on it?

What I mean...since the corpse was found in our village, wouldn't it belong to a person from here?

What?

So I am investigating relatives of missing people.

Yes.

Um.

You're having a hard time, right?

Seeing a horrible thing like this when you're just settling in. And being a woman who lives alone on top of that...

From now on, if you have anything that makes you uncomfortable, you can tell me everything.

I'll help you with everything, whatever that may be.

Why?

That is exactly my job. Making sure the villagers are comfortable.

Whether it be an adult or a kid, they only talk about the corpse whenever they see my face.

Nothing...can be done about that, right?

When your grandfather first set up a factory here,

the village people mocked him.

The lazy man, because he didn't want to plough and keep a cow,

he's playing with a metal pipe.

They couldn't know that 50 years later, this exact factory would be providing work for half of the villagers.

This is not just a factory. It's our family's legend.

Now it is your time, Gi Jun, to keep it going.

Run for governor?

I am thinking about preparing for it once Congressman Do's term ends.

I guess you find politics fun.

It is rather the politicians who amuse me. Sadly, it is tiresome getting intel from them.

Is this why you asked me to come back?

I can't keep letting your uncle run this company.

Let's be honest. He's a total stranger.

Since I let him have his position for a while,

he thinks it's his rightful place.

If we don't keep out focus, it's only a matter of time before the company ends up in your uncle's hands.

Is that why you sent him over to our branch in China?

You can be an assistant to your uncle for the time being

and I can get into politics.

So everyone will find their rightful place.

In the mountains of Seogwan county, Gangwon province,

an unidentified, female corps was found two days ago. The police is currently investigating this.

Due to heavy rainfall and strong winds for the past week,

the house's walls gave way and part of the corpse emerged.

The police's main focus is currently capturing this serial killer.

Didn't they talk about the corpse belonging to that woman?

It is her corpse, right?

The former lady who lived here had a great design, so I just left it like this.

The tableclothes, the curtains and other decorations.

Who is that woman?

She lived here.

You're saying the woman who lived here dissapeared?

The former owner of this room found the current one.

Teacher Hye Jin...
