[Ever Night 2]

[Episode 9]

Put me down! Let go of me!

Release me!

Put me down!

Paying respect to Great Chief. (T/N: Chanyu is title used by the nomadic supreme rulers.)

This is my gift to you.

Long Qing, you devil!

Welcome, my friend from the Central Plains.

To be able to become the Great Chief of the grassland is not an easy feat.

Prince Long Qing, you're joking.

Every generation of Great Chiefs should follow the calling of grassland.

Since I've brought Princess Wu Zhu back,

it's enough to prove my sincerity.

I wonder what you'll give me in return.

Prince Long Qing, I know what you want.

I can give you everything that you may want.

Fame, power, gold.

I can definitely help you regain your glory.

Great Chief, don't tell me that you are going to use this bowl of poisoned wine

to help your friend regain glory?

You...

You cannot give me the fame, power, and gold you mentioned.

You only have one thing that you can give me.

What do you want?

- Your life. - What?!

You've killed the previous Great Chief and usurped his throne.

You even want to kill his daughter, Wu Zhu.

You claimed you are the Great Chief chosen by the grassland,

but you are so tyrannical to your people.

The prairie is covered with corpses.

Today, I, Long Qing, will help Heaven exact justice.

Prince Long Qing.

I forgot to tell you that I am not only the Great Chief of the Golden Horde,

but also the most powerful cultivator of the grassland tribes!

Come.

The traitor is dead! Princess Wu Zhu is back!

Are you all not going to hurry to greet your new Great Chief?

Paying respect to Great Chief Wu Zhu! Paying respect to Great Chief Wu Zhu!

Paying respect to Great Chief Wu Zhu!

[One year later]

[Ning Que's name disappeared from the Qi Character Scroll of the Heavenly Book.]

Where did Ning Que's name go?

You are reading the Heavenly Book? Such a precious opportunity.

You don't read the Taoist classics,

and are searching for one person's whereabouts in the Heavenly Books. Is it worth it?

I know a person who wants to know where Ning Que is.

So I'll check it for her every day.

Why is it that I think you are the person that you're talking about?

In my opinion, Ning Que is the only person in the academy

who can be a threat to Taoism.

So it matters to me whether he lives or dies.

Why do you say so, Sister?

They all say that the Tang Academy’s people are unbelievers.

But the Tang people are still restricted by some laws,

such as morality and laws of the Tang Empire,

also etiquette and demeanor.

Both First teacher and Second Teacher are powerful,

but they are limited by these laws. You can estimate their destructiveness.

But Ning Que is different.

If it is something that he wants to do, whether the suppression of power or the rules of Xiling,

all are useless to him.

Don't even talk about demeanors.

So, he's a very formidable foe.

How did you come up with this conclusion?

Because he and I are the same.

What you say does make some sense.

But luckily, this man's name has disappeared from the Heavenly Book.

I'm afraid he's long gone from this world.

Impossible! Only I can kill Ning Que.

You can't bring a Heavenly Book out of the Monastery of Knowledge and Obeisance.

I am helping you put it back.

What are you cutting? It looks so bad.

- You... - Hey.

I got something for you. [Demon Sect's Saintess Tang Xiaotang]

This is the most popular gift box in Bestore.

There are twelve kinds of snacks in the box.

It's delicious. How were you able to buy this?

I've gone there several times and they've always sold out.

I got someone to buy it.

Who?

It's someone who buys things for people.

It cost me 3 taels of silver.

Theirs a job like that?

For the rest of your life, if you want pork jerky,

just tell me. It's on me.

Rest of my life?

We haven't even resolved the current problem yet.

Current...

I can handle my brother. How about your dad?

My dad...

In a short time, I guess...

And how about your teacher?

Teacher?

I am afraid to tell him.

How about you tell my teacher?

Third Senior Sister.

No.

You...

How about you be the one to tell your teacher?

Sure, I will tell my teacher. What's so hard about it?

I'm not a coward like you.

At the worst, she will make me jump the waterfall as punishment. That would be refreshing.

What do you want to tell me?

I prefer to jump into the waterfall.

What does Xiaotang want to tell me?

Senior Sister.

Would you have some pork jerky?

Just say it.

Senior Sister,

I'm here to say goodbye to you.

Say goodbye?

I want to go back to Xiling and see if I can find some news about Ning Que.

Maybe I can help First Senior Brother.

First Senior Brother hasn't stopped searching but hasn't been able to find him for a year.

How could Xiling possibly have his whereabouts?

Actually, I also want to go to the South Sea.

To go see your father?

As the saying goes,

an ugly wife also has to meet her parents-in-law.

Although Xiaotang's not ugly,

she's a person from the Demon Sect after all.

I'll have to face this matter sooner or later. Right?

I'll just go home early and deal with it.

And then I'll come back.

PiPi, do you know that if you go back to the Monastery of Knowledge and Obeisance,

you might not be able to return?

Then, how about Xiaotang?

Xiaotang will wait for me.

How long do you think Xiaotang can wait for you?

Third Senior Sister...

If I really can't make it back,

can you take care of Xiaotang for me?

Thank you, Senior Sister.

Teacher, First Senior Brother has been looking for

Little Junior Brother and Sang Sang for a whole year.

We don't know if they can even be found.

Teacher, where do you think they are?

Are they alive or dead?

Everything has causes and consequences.

The Heaven Pillar Chessboard is their tribulation.

Then, Teacher, where is Little Junior Brother and Sang Sang?

In the chessboard.

Chessboard?

Where is the chessboard?

The chessboard is in the chessboard.

The chessboard is in the chessboard?

Is this a cyclic death-doom?

The natural cycle continues and endlessly grows.

There is no absolute death doom. It's all decided by Heaven.

Hmm.

Get up.

Follow me.

Where are we going?

♫ How to reach for the moonlight? ♫

♫ Waste time to think ♫

♫ The grief that haunts my mind ♫

♫ Who can remove it? ♫

♫ Let a puddle of tears round and round in my eye socket ♫

♫ I was alone to feel the long years in the dusk ♫

♫ No one come to accompany me ♫

♫ My concern is lying beside me ♫

Young Master, I'll go get some water.

♫ However, there were blooming several times ♫

♫ and autumn cooling several times ♫

♫ Sighing the seasons are inconstancy ♫

♫ Even though the spring breeze laughed at me ♫

♫ I will be the same ♫

♫ as before ♫

♫ Let love in my heart ripple ♫

♫ To see little of each other, though living nearby, I might as well ♫

Grandpa, do you know where to get some water?

Little girl, are you going to fetch water?

I'll take you there.

Sang Sang!

Energy Thirteen Arrow!

Why do you have to harm her?

She is the Daughter of Hades!

She didn't provoke you at all, but you wanted to kill her.

Looks like you've lived enough.

She is the Daughter of Hades...

I picked her up from a pile of corpses!

I raised her from since she was little. She's been with me for 18 years.

The Daughter of Hades must die.

She is the loveliest and kindest girl I've ever known.

She has never harmed anyone!

Useless wretch!

Sang Sang! Sang Sang!

Sang Sang. Sang Sang!

It'll be okay, Sang Sang.

Sang Sang, you'll be fine. I'm here.

I'm here.

Black Thingy! What are you waiting for?! Move it!

Sang Sang!

Sang Sang, you are okay.

Let's go.

Master Qi Nian, are you looking for me?

Although your words would be better by using brush pens rather than iron arrows,

Little Junior Brother, are you telling me

you are okay?

I guided you here with the sound of my bell not for you to admire these words.

Sorry. Master Qi Nian, thank you for correcting me.

A year has passed. Isn't the academy still going to make a statement about Thirteen Teacher

protecting the Daughter of Hades?

on the 18th year of Tianqi...

Why is it the 18th year of Tianqi?

First Teacher.

This iron arrow belongs to the academy. I will take it away.

My Little Junior Brother also belongs to the academy.

I will take him back.

First Teacher!

I'll pass on your words to Expound Scriptures Leader.

Pass along my greetings to him.

- Expound Scriptures Leader! - Qi Nian, come up here.

This compass can detect the direction of the chessboard.

You take it to find the Daughter of Hades.

You need to find her before the First Teather.

You can't be tenderhearted if you want to eliminate the evils in the world.

Ning Que, leave her here! How far can you escape with her?

If you don't want to die, then leave now.

You guys get out of here.

- First Senior Brother. - Little Junior Brother.

- Nice to see you, First Senior Brother. - Let me take a good look at you.

First Senior Brother, how did you find me?

This is what you left under the Heaven Pillar Tree.

I got it for you.

Did he make things difficult for you?

What do you think?

Right, you are the First Teacher.

Oh yeah! Something's wrong with Sang Sang. Take a look at her for me.

Okay.

This golden compass can help you to find the Daughter of Hades.

Her acupoints were blocked.

Can you get her to wake up?

I'll give it a try.

First Senior Brother.

I'm fine. I just got some chills.

I'll try it again.

Sang Sang.

Sang Sang.

Young Master.

It seems like I've slept for a long time.

You really did. Look who's here.

First Senior Brother.

Sang Sang, I've looked for you two for a year.

A year?

Now is the 19th year of Tianqi.

19th year of Tianqi?

Didn't we just come out from the chessboard?

After seeing what you carved on the Heaven Pillar Tree,

I knew the problem immediately.

No wonder I couldn't find you.

It was the chessboard.

Right. One moment in the chessboard means one year in the world.

The power of Heaven Pillar is so unfathomable.

Then...

How's Miss Shanshan?

She's fine. You don't have to worry.

They're coming.

Hurry and go. I'll hold them off.

Okay.

Little Junior Brother, you take her to Full Moon State to learn the cultivation of Heaven Pillar.

It can help her to resist the cold aura in her body.

- Hurry and go! - First Senior Brother.

- Take care! - Go!

First Senior Brother's complexion didn't look so good.

It spent a lot of energy

to cure you.

Then is anything going to happen to him?

He's First Senior Brother after all.

I'll deal with him. You guys go after the carriage with the golden compass.

Yes!

Strange. Why can't we get rid of them?

They have a magical item.

Magical item? What kind of item?

A... huge compass.

A compass?

The weapon of Heaven Pillar, the Golden Compass.

It can track another Heaven Pillar's magical item.

What should we do now? What magical item are they tracking?

- Chessboard. - Chessboard?

The Heavenly Pillar Chessboard gave away our location.

So smart!

Let those fools track it.

Unacceptable! I am an envoy sent by Xiling's Shrine Leader!

Does the Emperor of Tang plan to harbor the Daughter of Hades?

What are you doing?!

I'll let you know right now what I want to do!

Move out of the way!

I'll only say it once.

Beat it!

Let's go!

Your Majesty, now that the Daughter of Hades has appeared,

Xiling and other countries are expecting us to make a statement.

Thirteenth Teacher‘s choice

speaks for me.

Your Majesty, the arrival of the Daughter of Hades [Li Peiyan, Tang State's Grand Prince]

is a forewarning of the coming of the Eternal Night!

Not only the leaders of other countries,

but even the commoners

are mad about this.

If we continue to choose to defend her,

I am afraid we will be going against the people's will.

Ning Que and Sang Sang are your good friends.

Don't you want to save them?

I do.

However, as a subject, I must put our greater benefits at first.

Greater benefits?

How do you define that?

Does that include the arrival of the Daughter of Hades and the coming of the Eternal Night?

Do rumors spreading and unsettling people make up the greater good?

Father, I...

What about Tang Academy's silence

and the infuriated Xiling, are they part of the greater good?

What is your opinion?

Your Majesty, I think Ning Que belongs to the acadamy. We shouldn't kill him.

We should have the acadamy make their own decision.

What about Sang Sang?

We can't kill Sang Sang, but we can kill the Daughter of Hades.

You are so sneaky.

Your one decision

will affect our nation's future!

Then, do you want me to send someone to go after them and kill them?

If I kill them, would those lackeys from Xiling

be satisfied?
