and welcome back today's topic is

navigation I have a 2018 xc90 here

trying to update the maps on the

navigation system now Volvo offers a

free for life map updates when you

purchase one of these vehicles the new

platform they call it a spa platform

they offer free map updates including

the new XC 40s they have came out now

there's two ways of updating your Maps

the first way you can update it using

your data plan or your Wi-Fi if you

connect your vehicle to life I've pulled

Wi-Fi close by you would go to system

updates if we go back the main screen

you go to download center and you would

have this window pop-up and if you go to

maps you could see your regions up here

and for New York you can see if there's

an update available you can do auto

update but that would also use your data

plan if you're driving and it decides to

start updating the map you can see other

regions here you can set whatever to

home region and the this is one way of

updating your maps the second way the

only problem with this way if you have a

big file size is gonna take a long time

it's get take a lot of data that you

have to use off your plan or if you

don't have a data plan you would have to

be connected to Wi-Fi closeby

the other way of doing it which is you

can actually see if you go to your

owners manual that you have on your

screen

you can actually search maps

you have here updating maps with

computer and USB flash drive

this is your second way you can use one

of these flash drives to update your

Maps without using your data and here

explain step by step on how to do it

what's required to do it what kind of

flash drives you need and you would go

to keep scrolling down it's gonna show

you the website you need to go to

support Volvo cars comm and then you can

download the maps for each region that

you would like to update and you know

they would ask you for your model and

model year for your vehicle and then you

would download the maps to your flash

drive and then you take your USB flash

drive and plug it into your USB and the

center console in this case I do have

access to maps and voice control these

vehicles have voice control

I can also update that we used to update

these on every vehicle comes in for

service you get a free update and they

stop doing that for quite some time now

so if you go to the dealer and ask for a

Maps and voice update you would have to

pay for it or you can do it for free

yourself if you on the voice updated you

can get a hold of me send me one of

these flash drives that you have at home

and I can download the voice control and

the full map updates so you would have

all the regions in one flash drive

versus downloading each region on a

separate times and all you got to do is

just take this and plug it in into a USB

port and then you'll have a message pops

up here it says my updates and it would

you like to do install it you would hit

confirm and then it will start

downloading if you do that the car does

not have to be running but if it's not

running

you would have to install a battery

maintainer to maintain your voltage

so in this case you hit confirm and it

starts downloading you can do this while

you're driving also so if you have any
