Episode 28

But my adoptive father treats me well.

Everything I have is given by him.

I can't betray him too.

Why is it a betrayal?

If his actions are righteous,

then I have nothing to say.

But he persecuted

the loyals

all for himself.

Aren't you distorting the truth

if you continue to be loyal to him?

But

he's my adoptive father after all.

I can't treat my adoptive father...

Why did you drink so much

if he really cares for you?

Tell me.

Are you going to watch him

falling down into the abyss?

Wouldn't it be better

if you could stop him

and get him back on the right track?

Can I really do that?

At that time,

you don't have to push Rushuang away anymore

in order to protect her.

Brother Pei.

What should I do?

Sir, sorry to keep you waiting.

It's you.

Do you see this bottle of powder?

With it,

your pretty little face

will be destroyed.

I can let you go

unless you answer my questions.

Does Xie Beiming really like you?

You'd better think it through.

Miss.

Please spare me.

What is the relationship between you and Xie Beiming?

It was Mr. Xie

who gave me a sum of money

to put on an act with him.

Mr. Xie.

Thank you for the rouge.

Don't come over.

Just stand right there.

I don't feel comfortable.

Here's the upfront payment.

I'll pay off the balance when it's done.

It's okay with me

to put on an act

making Ms. Rushuang leave you.

But

why are you doing this?

It's none of your business.

Here are the conditions.

First,

you can't tell Rushuang about our deal.

Second, you can't touch me.

Rushuang is the only one for me.

Don't try to seduce me.

Third,

don't be too domineering in front of Rushuang.

If she gets too pissed off,

I won't pay you.

Do you really mean to break up?

I...

It's none of your business.

Please leave the lip print

right over here.

Hold on.

Give me the rouge.

I'll do it myself.

He really applied the rouge?

He said

that when it's done

he'd redeem me.

Listen up.

From today onwards,

you can't contact with him anymore.

If he comes to see you, you can't meet him.

It

isn't a good idea.

I'll still ask him to pay you.

You can redeem yourself.

Really?

I'm a woman of my word.

All right.

If Mr. Xie comes here again,

I'll get people to kick him out.

Thank you.

This is for you.

Why would I want the poison powder?

I was just pulling your leg.

This is my exclusive homemade powder.

With it,

your skin will be more delicate than that of children.

Take it as a gift.

Untie me before you leave.

You deserve it.

That's for your holding Xie Beiming's hand.

Ming.

You're here.

Father.

Ming.

Are you here to tell me

about Xiao Yanzhi?

Yes.

Xiao Yanzhi and Su Ci

went to Nanxun Town.

Why did they go there?

They found the person

who applied poison on the Bai Liang brocade

and found out that you

were the culprit.

Who stitched me up?

Where's it?

Gone missing.

Xiao Yanzhi must have tucked away.

Very well, Xiao Yanzhi.

If you don't want to be a carefree prince,

and work to put me to death,

then don't blame me

for pulling the rug from under your feet.

Father.

Well,

what are you going to do?

Ming.

You should return first.

If he's up to anything,

report to me at once.

Yes.

Go on.

My Lord.

Should we send someone to kill the witness?

No.

Xiao Yanzhi found the witness

of poisoning the Bai Liang brocade.

He intends nothing but

to reverse the verdict of the late emperor's poisoning case.

Since you're plotting against me,

don't blame me for making things ugly.

It's time

to get back the things that should belong to me.

My Lord.

Do you have any plans?

Xiao Yanzhi

is still too young.

He thought he could bring me down

with some witness or evidence.

He doesn't even know

that I already had something crucial

that could bring about his demise.

I've protected that person for so long.

It's about time for him to return the favour now.

Pei Mansion

It's all done.

If there's nothing else,

I'll get going then.

Brother Xie.

Yesterday, Rushuang...

Brother Pei.

I have decided.

I can't let Rushuang

take the risk with me.

But have you thought about it?

Actually,

women are stronger than us at times.

Look at Little Su.

Her clan was slaughtered when she's little.

But she's so strong

and survived it.

She even disguised herself as a man

and entered Mingjing Office to investigate the case.

She is more resilient

than many men.

Brother Su is indeed very admirable.

But Rushuang is different.

She's the same.

She's a girl

who makes a living alone in jianghu.

She must have encountered many dangers.

But look at her.

She still goes her own way.

Still as candid and straightforward.

So

don't simply decide for her.

Xie Beiming.

Where are you going?

It's you.

Stop pretending not to see me.

I know you saw me.

I have things to do.

Ms. Rushuang.

Please behave with dignity.

Tell me why you broke up with me.

Then, I'll let you go.

Didn't you see it yourself?

I fell in love with someone else.

It's fine.

You like someone else, and I like you.

Wenwen and I are about to get married.

Stop pestering me.

Rushuang, you...

I've kissed you.

You're mine now.

Don't wipe it off.

You like this colour, don't you?

I forgot to tell you.

I've added poison to the rouge.

The colour will stick without antidote.

If you don't feel embarrassed,

you can go flirting with it.

Whatever girls you find,

I'll get rid of them all.

My Lord.

You've inspected the corpse in the suburb.

How was it?

The victim was stabbed to death with a sharp blade.

No blood splatter around the body.

There were only marks of dragging the body.

It can be concluded

that the location of body

isn't the primary crime scene.

Traces of rouge were found

in the victim's fingernails and on the face.

I suspect that the victim

had a struggle with a woman before his death.

Also,

we've found a jade pendant on the victim.

Judging by its fineness and value,

it's probably not his belonging.

The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed.

It's in the midst of investigation.

Do it quick.

Yes.

The Empress Dowager's birthday banquet is coming.

Make sure it's absolutely safe in the capital.

Don't worry. I'm fine.

You, on the other hand

Is anything happened?

Officer Jiang.

I'm Luo Xin of Mingjing Office.

I would like to seek your assistance

with a murder case.

What case is that?

A craftsman named Tian Yong

died on the outskirts a few days ago.

There is evidence that linked you to his death.

I didn't kill anyone.

Officer Jiang.

Wen You should recognise the word

on this jade pendant.

Murder? That's a serious crime.

Why would your jade pendant be found on the victim?

Please come with us and explain it.

With just a jade pendant?

Just a routine questioning.

Please cooperate with us.

They can't frame the innocent or spare the bad guy.

That's right.

You're Prince Qi's man.

you'll embarrass His Highness.

I'm sure you wouldn't want that.

Prince Qi's man?

Prince Qi's man?

What's the matter?

He's linked to a murder case.

Bad news.

Young Master.

Brother Jiang has been taken in by Mingjing Office.

What?

Your Highness.

Rise.

Take me to see Xiwen.

Forgive me, Your Highness.

I can't take you to see the suspect.

Who are you calling a suspect?

Brother Jiang will never kill anyone!

Don't you say that about him!

Fei Yuan, watch yourself.

Officer Liu.

Since Xiwen is only a suspect and has not been convicted,

can I still meet him?

Your Highness.

We've got strict regulations here.

No one can see the suspect before the case is solved.

Besides, given your relationship with Officer Jiang,

you shouldn't see him now.

Why?

If Your Highness intervened now,

even if he's innocent,

everyone would think

that Your Highness covered up for your man.

Then, he'd never get rid of suspicion.

For his sake,

Your Highness shouldn't meet him now.

So

unless the case is solved,

I can't meet Xiwen?

I hope Your Highness can understand us.

If so, please look out for Xiwen.

I'll do my best.

Fei Yuan, let's go.

Jiang Xiwen.

Such a coincidence.

Things are working in my favour.

My Lord.

I have a plan.

You are...

Li Yu?

Officer Jiang, you really have a good memory.

We merely had a brief encounter

Yet, you still could recognise me.

Why are you here?

Or is it Song Yao?

I don't know what you're talking about.

I wonder

how your younger brother feels

after watching all this

for so many years.

What are you trying to do?

What a good pawn.

Of course one will want to keep it

for himself.

You want me to betray Prince Qi?

Are you not afraid you'll burn your own fingers?

You can only blame yourself for being out of luck.

We thought of just getting rid of a small fry.

But we never thought

we would get a big fish like you instead.

You've done us a great favour.

What do you mean by that?

What do you have to do with Tian Yong's death?

A wise man serves only a virtuous master.

Officer Jiang.

If you choose to pay allegiance to my Lord,

I promise

you will never regret it.

Dream on!

I only give you

one night to consider it.

If I don't get the answer

that I want tomorrow morning,

I will send you
