Episode 27

Madam.

You really are the murder.

Why

are you here too?

It's you

who killed my father

and drove my mother crazy.

Shut up

or I'll kill you too.

Fei Yuan,

please take Miss Xu out.

Miss Xu

I never thought

it's a forged document.

You tricked me.

Concern can lead to mistakes.

Otherwise,

how would you reveal yourself?

I did intend to kill Xu Bingjie.

Only then

could Qingmei gain back her family property.

Madam, it's no worth it.

That's not all you've done.

You also murdered Sun Bo.

That's impossible.

When Sun Bo died,

you were taking her back to the inn.

How could it be her then?

If I conjectured it right,

madam had drugged Sun Bo

before she went to Sun family's shop.

But she didn't kill him right away.

Sun Bo failed to struggle due to the drug.

The white cloth that wrapped his head

didn't suffocate him immediately.

But at that time,

he was lying under the drying wet cloth.

As the water kept dripping,

the white cloth got tightened

and suffocated him.

Then,

he fell into the pool and drowned.

That's why traces of dragging the body

were left on the table.

Madam,

I knew you did all these for me.

How dare Sun Bo covet you?

How could I protect you

if I didn't kill him?

You killed Xu Mengchang too.

Madam,

it's true that they treated me badly.

But it's wrong to kill them.

How should I live on

after this?

You put 8 copper coins

besides Sun Bo's body

to intimidate

Mr. and Mrs. Xu.

So you could

avenge for the late Lady Xu.

You're right!

Xu Mengchang

was ungrateful and unscrupulous.

Lady Xu worked so hard for the family business.

He not only did nothing to help

but treated Lady coldly.

He deserved it.

You killed He Da too.

That's impossible.

That's not true.

Madam was with me

on the day He Da died.

He Da actually didn't die

on the tenth day of the ninth lunar month.

It was a day before.

The ninth day of the ninth lunar month.

That's even more impossible.

He Da secluded himself in the silkworm house that day

and wrote notes on the 3rd sleep cycle.

You saw it too.

It wasn't madam.

You must have mistaken it.

The notes written by He Da

was her alibi,

but it's also the only flaw.

Brother Su,

what do you mean?

The silkworms in Nanxun

are from the same batch

with the same sleep pattern.

But the silkworms

at Xu's silkworm house weren't dormant.

And others in the town had entered the fourth sleep cycle.

He Da would seclude himself in the silkworm house every year.

He'd break his seclusion on the fourth sleep cycle.

The notes he wrote on the 3rd sleep cycle,

made everyone believe that

he died on the tenth day of the ninth lunar month.

But the murderer

had exchanged them with 5-sleep-cycle silkworms.

The 3rd sleep cycle occurred a day earlier.

So He Da had created an alibi

for the murderer.

Before the murderer left the crime scene,

she burnt charcoal to increase the temperature inside

and closed the door and all windows.

So the officers couldn't determine the time of death.

That's why

you had an alibi

on the tenth day of the ninth lunar month.

Does it mean that

you'd burnt the silkworm empress statue too?

I found the remaining wax

on the silkworm empress's wooden rack.

You wrapped white phosphorus with wax pellets

and put it under the paper statue.

It was hot that day.

The wax melted quickly.

The white phosphorus

lit up the paper statue.

I get it.

After madam killed He Da,

she burned the silkworm empress statue,

leading everyone to believe that

it was a curse.

Madam,

why did you kill He Da?

Because He Da deserved to die.

He Da,

did you promise Sun Bo

that you'd work for him?

It's none of your business.

You could get silk hanging 6 coins

all thanks to Lady's guidance.

How could you offer your skill to the Sun family

after Lady passed away?

You're ungrateful.

I make a living through my skill.

I'll work for the one that pays more.

It's not that simple,

right?

What do you mean?

It's seven years ago that you came here.

But you lied to me it's ten years ago.

Because it's so long ago

that I forgot it.

But seven years ago,

Lady Xu managed to produce

a very rare brocade.

Why all people remembered it

except you?

You wanted no one to find that

Lady Xu had by chance learned

the brocade technique from you.

As it was the Bai Liang brocade

that everyone knows about.

Who are you?

What are you talking about?

The person you always trust

might be the murderer of the late emperor

seven years ago.

What?

Madam,

you may deny it.

What do you think

the government would do if they discovered

the Bai Liang brocade here?

You're right.

I'm the palace maid

who poisoned the Bai Liang brocade.

At that time,

I faked my death

and escaped from the palace.

But I never thought

they'd locate my whereabouts.

I was hunted down

and almost got killed.

It was Lady Xu who saved me.

In order to survive,

I hid in the Xu family.

When Lady Xu passed on,

I took care of Qingmei.

I wanted

to spend my rest life in peace.

But who knew that...

Do you think I'm ignorant?

You were so loyal to Lady Xu

because you were being hunted down.

She had saved you.

How did you know about this?

I overheard

your conversation with her.

What else did you know?

Everything.

He Da found out my secret.

So he must die.

I only intended to kill him.

But

I came across you

when I looked for Qingmei.

Since Bai Liang Clan was destroyed,

the only person who knows about this special skill,

and appeared in this town seven years ago by coincidence,

is the palace maid from the Laundry Bureau who played dead years ago.

I overheard that

you're looking for the palace maid from the Laundry Bureau.

If you continue the investigation,

you'll eventually discover my true identity.

Instead of sitting through,

I'd rather pave a better way for Qingmei,

just to repay Lady for saving me then.

So

who instructed you to kill

the late emperor?

It was Prince Yun.

He instructed me

to poison the laundry water.

No wonder

other maids of the Bureau had red and swollen hands.

How could you come out

such a vicious plot?

Madam,

did you know that

my parents died because of you?

You killed my entire Clan.

Did they deserve to die too?

You're

from the Bai Liang Clan?

You...

At that time, I know nothing

about his entire plan.

Madam!

She had poison!

Madam!

Madam!

Madam.

Madam.

I

committed too many evil doings.

I can't

live on.

Please

take good care

of Qingmei

for me.

Madam.

After all these while,

we've finally found

the real culprit of Bai Liang brocade poisoning.

It's a pity that...

No.

There's nothing to pity about.

Your clan is innocent.

The truth will eventually come to light.

Although madam had left a confession,

she passed on.

There's no witness left.

How can we testify against Prince Yun

and make him confess his crime?

An eye for an eye.

I promise you

I'll seek justice

for the innocence.

Don't be rash.

Don't worry.

I won't put myself in danger.

After all, I have you now.

I don't want you to worry about me.

I'm not worried about you.

Anyway,

now that Bai Liang Clan's innocence

has been proven,

I'm up to request something from you.

What do you want?

I want to fight with you

to make the culprit plead guilty

and seek justice for the dead

who were wronged.

Brother Xie,

why hasn't you packed up?

I'll do it in awhile.

Brother Xie,

why have you been

ignoring Sister Rushuang lately?

Have

I?

Stop feigning.

I know all

your little tricks.

What a little kid like you know?

Why don't I know?

At least I know that

to make a woman to dislike you,

the best way

isn't to avoid her.

Wait!

What's it then?

See.

You don't know about it, right?

I've learned it from the folk book that

if you want

to make a woman to dislike you,

the best way

is to like another woman.

In this way,

she'll get angry

and leave you.

What you said

does make sense.

I've made it!
