fabricated everything.

a honeycomb here,

but that took longer
than anticipated.

We're falling behind

and if we're not there,
then it's kind

of a failure, I guess.

Chad: We bought the car cheap
so I sprung for an engine,

and it does not fit.

It's a backwards step
on a big build.

Jolene: We're out of time
with this build.

If we don't finish a car
in a set amount of time,

then it's going to trickle down
on the other builds.

If we start running
a business like that,

we're not going to be here.

The car's gonna be too wide.

not going to fit in there.

the front end from scratch,

prep the roof, the doors
and the glass and then install.

We need to do the body work,

the dash, the interior,
paint it, everything.

I don't know if we're ever
going to finish this car.

It's really stretched out,

and everybody
is getting tired,

and it's it's hard
to see the light

at the end of the tunnel
with this build.

the front end look like?

I was going to make it pointy,

on this car so far right now.

And I want to keep it that way,

at the front end,

the glass is going to be.

And as I put that in there,

that'll give this this metal,
this body metal here shape.

Also, it gives me
a place to attack it

on the inside construction
on the bottom side.

So we're we're welding
the car right back together

the way it was,
maybe a little bit better.

So the glass
to sit down in here,

and that's how thick
that we're hoping to be.

Jolene: The glass is a huge
unknown for this car.

We haven't played
with glass before.

We haven't played with
gullwing doors on actuators.

It's scary at this point
of the season.

We're pushing the deadlines.

Then it's really going to,

jeopardize the final build
and whether

we're going to be able
to fit it into the schedule.

It's going to be

Chad: Already made the frame

is make the shelf

for the glass to lay on.

Aaron is not coming in today,

He's had a few health issues,
and don't really want

to get into his private
business,

but we are missing his work.

If I had aaron,

how far much further ahead

because he could be on the other
door while making this side.

My goal today is to have
two gullwing doors.

off and face fairly decent.

so we often can keep it around.

This reminds me,
- when I was a kid. You know that?

All kinds of bends around
and fruit and vegetables.

Fresh vegetables
everywhere.

I grew up on this farm.

Planted a lot of broccoli
in my day.

We've been here since 1945.

The name randsland brand
probably started

sometime in the late '80s.

We grow 500 acres
of broccoli a year.

We're one of
the biggest producers

in eastern north america now.

Broccoli is very high in
vitamins c, d and e.

I try and eat at least one head

My preferred way to eat broccoli
is with dip.

It helps neutralize the flavor
roughly a little bit.

There are vegetables out there

that are a little bit tastier

but if you get

you're going to be good

to make a lens for a car.

your car's the best or whatever.

And then you get a whole bunch
of people judging you,

same whether it is or it isn't
or it isn't or whatever.

But as we're going through
this car right here,

I'm judging it the whole way.

I could be the worst critic.

my dream was never to have
a business.

My garage was built
behind my house

so I could do
whatever I want to do

whenever I wanted to do it.

I feel like having
a breakdown down sometimes,

there's so much pressure on...

this small little car.

But the back has been
lengthened six inches.

I think that would
make up for some.

because we've taken on

said we're going to do it.

So, yeah, there's no
no borrowing time

when the weather comes.

We've got a couple of headlights
we can put on there.

The front end
just feels too short.

Two blow lenses
that fit it.

bring it up that far.

And blow some bubbles
in the kitchen oven.

Last year, we blew a huge bubble
in an industrial building

with professionals
that knew how to run the oven.

this time
we're scaling it down,

but we're doing it
in our own oven in the house.

That was a good find on that
plexiglass right there.

That tanning bed right there,
just like that.

Headlights, here we come.

Colton found a tanning bed
with some plexiglass in it.

Oh, wow.

We can't use it
for the doors or the roof

because it's breakable.

Plexiglass.

But we can blow bubbles
out of it.

Plexiglass cost over $300
over a sheet,

so it's a big money saver here.

Aaron has made some frames

for the size
and the shape of the headlights.

so on 375,
we're preheating stove.

If you do not cover the hole

and you put the plexiglass
on top of this,

when you go to blow
the air in it,

it just blows up squarely
in the center.

As I put this on,
it makes the air

go around the edge,
makes it come out round.

That's the trick.

Alright.

On top of that.

So it's a piece of plywood

to hold the plexiglass
with a hole in it

and an air check
on the bottom of it

with a piece of cardboard
over the hole.

When we crank it up,
it'll come up so high

and...Say yay or nay.

This is will be the first one
I've ever tried

to make lens for a car.

We call cut out the mold.

Hard to believe that's the mold,
but that's the mold.

That's the shape that I want
this plexiglass to blow up.

We're doing with a different
thickness of glass.

We're only dealing with
what was in that tanning bed.

And that's what we're going to
do with we had.

Let's put in it.

That's going to sit in there
perfect, just like that.

was when we use the air pick,

You can't just turn the nozzle

If we get it turn down
that corner,

that'll put a lot of tension
on that glass,

and that'll make it
more sturdy looking.

All the body panels on the car
are made under pressure.

That's fine, because I can
weld the metal down,

it'll stay there.

But when you put the glass in,

I can't weld the glass
in the car.

You have to glue it.

to put the glass in.

The doors are going to be

the main attraction
of the car

with the glass in it.

We got all the glass cut.

We only have

There's no forgiveness
for us here,

so as we put the glass in,
we have to make it

fit better than factory glass.

Look at that.

When we're putting
glass in car,

we want to make it fit.

This is what will give
rigidity to the door

you know what I mean?

When we push this down here,

that glass made that glass
twice as strong

as it was laying flat because

but we're nowhere near ready
for reveal, if that makes sense.

You know, paint is one thing,

I'm making panels out of wood
for the floor of the car.

I'm heading over to my wood shop
so that I can use my equipment.

Working out of my home shop
is sort of a sweet spot to be.

Everything I need is right
at my fingertips.

I started as a little kid
in my grandfather's workshop.

I was learning
how to drive nails.

First thing I ever built
was a birdhouse.

And when I was done,
he counted how many

nails I put in.

The grand tally was 253 nails.
