WOMAN: So you'll be operating as a regular holiday maker,
who happens to be a big fan of wind energy.
(Chanting)
You'll find the key objectors and discreetly lobby them
to drop their appeals.
More signatures against the wind farm.
You'd do well to listen to the people of this town, boy.
I've got my bucket and spade
and you've got your big green eco warrior head on ya!
It's my job.
So work with me on this.
But would the wind farm not mean that there'd be a lot more trade through the town?
What price do we put on our unspoiled sea views?
The local councillor Michael Kelleher,
he could be for turning.
#consent to take my picture!
#owning my own body,
Can we maybe...just try this again?
Can we maybe...just try this again?
His wife seems on side.
There's a few of us who think it mightn't be the worse thing to happen to the town.
So what are you doing down here?
I thought you were in Hawaii!
I was yeah.
Moved back a couple of months ago.
Take your lecture...
...and shove it up your hole!
Or what?!
Hit me all you want, Danny,
Yeah we'll see, kid, we'll see. Mark my word, you'll be thanking me for it.
His son is violently pro wind farm.
#
#
(Line rings)
VOICEMAIL: "Hi this is Breege Muller.
"Leave a nice message after the beep."
Fuck it!
#
#
Breege we need to talk. We're closed so...
B where'd you keep the chocolate sprinkles?
WHISPERS: Shut up.
Thank you.
Morning.
I'm not interrupting anything, I hope?
Ah...up with the sun!
Never had you down as an early bird kinda gal.
Never had you down as a chocolate sprinkles kinda guy.
For Breege.
Mine's the green tea.
Become a bit of a ritual since I got back from Maui.
I pop in here for all the local gossip.
Americano?
To take away?
Ah, no I'll have it here if that's okay?
We're not open.
So... Ah don't mind her,
she's always open for a bit of auld chin wag!
Ha ha!
Aren't you, B?
Sure you know what?
I'll give ya a hand.
As you're not open.
SPEAKING QUIETLY: What are you two talking about?
Nothing.
Nothing?
What nothing? Is it anything to do with my nothing?
Not yet.
Not yet?!
You gonna repeat everything I say?
Please don't.
...mouth like a sieve.
Actually d'you know what?
I will get it go after all.
Em, Baz...
...wanna lift to the beach?
Oh!
No, hang on...
...'cause Stefan's buns will be out of the oven in like five minutes.
Not buns!
Madeline's.
Ooh I do love those madeleines!
Yeah just came from the beach.
Big swells.
Yeah but he's ah...
...icing this batch. No I'm not!
He is. Come on.
I'll have you there in five, you'll be in the surf in ten.
Will you put one aside for me?
They're not keep cups!
You can bring them back.
I will charge you for them.
I will!
(Door closes)
#
It's weird.
The whole town is different,
but like...exactly the same.
It's just the people that change.
Totally.
I mean all the lads have either moved away or
are shacked up with kids.
Nobody wants to play anymore.
At least you're here.
Yep.
But not for very long, so.
I'll be off then.
Okay.
Seeya.
Sorry, Kate...
...elephant in the room!
I gotta ask...
...what the hell happened you?
What do you mean?
Well you just left, man.
Disappeared into thin air.
(Exhales)
That's a bit dramatic.
The holidays were over, I was going back to Dublin.
Breege says you never came back again.
What difference does it make?
You were heading off to Hawaii, so...
Just 'cause I'd no reason to...hang on here.
Just feel like there's unfinished business.
That's all.
Don't you have a wave to catch?
We should grab a proper coffee
when the old Kate's ready to come out and play.
#
Kate! Oh hey, Callum.
Callum Kelleher.
Did you really have to throw him out of the pub like that
and embarrass him in front of everyone?
People are still talking about it, Michael.
They talk about how this family are unable to behave in a civil manner with each other.
Himself and Danny Burke were going at it pure hammer and tongs!
Upsetting the clientele.
I had to draw the line.
Big Mike does not run that kind of establishment.
The two of you need to just kiss and make up.
Oh you know what I mean!
Hug.
Okay then, shake hands, whatever!
The local councillor needs to be seen to be a family man,
especially if he's got his eye on the national stage.
Then Callum has got to stop slagging me off on the radio.
I'll have a word him, hm?
Thanks.
#
#
Woah, whoa, whoa, whoa!
Put it back!
Put it back.
Hiya, Danny.
Kay Fine?
Yeah!
I'm back down here on my holliers!
Doesn't Splasher the dolphin have a restraining order out on you?!
(She laughs)
I'd say that's more Breege's style myself.
Our sister can hold an awful grudge so she can. Hm-mm.
You off out today?
Could do with the help of a hardy woman!
Do you not remember my terrible sea legs?
We've got some fresh mackerel here if you're interested.
Yeah sure. If you've got some I'll buy.
Not at all!
Climb aboard and we'll sort you out.
Come on.
Right.
Eh...
...the...
...thank you.
Alright? Yeah!
Will ya get the fish?!
Oh!
Very pungent!
(Laughs awkwardly)
Fine, fresh Atlantic fish. Uh-huh.
Enjoy it while it lasts!
When those turbines go up,
they'll scare the fish clean out of the bay!
Oh I didn't realise the little things were that sensitive! Poor things!
No more than yourself!
We'll have to go much further out,
compete with all them Spanish super trawlers.
More big money putting us out of business.
And it the weather's bad, there's every chance we'll crash into them.
Are they not spaced out for that reason?
Think I read that somewhere.
It's more than that.
It's how they look.
Big steel columns sticking out of the bay,
looking like...
...destroying the...
The heart stopping beauty of our wild Atlantic bay,
as the headland hugs the salty ocean,
this warm, windswept embrace.
Listen...
...us fishermen speak with one voice on this,
we're not for turning.
Oh!
I think I...be off.
My stomach's starting to realise it's on the water.
Alright so.
Oh. Need a hand?
Yeah.
You not want the fish then?
Just...
Thanks.
Right, girls!
Come on!
Well done!
Well done!
That's it!
Pass it!
#
On your toes...nice one!
Energetic bunch!
One of yours among that lot?
Oh my lad, no! He's not the sporty type!
Pity.
Away from drugs,
booze,
terrorist organisations.
That's it, come on!
You know...
...we don't get many spectators at training.
Yeah I was...
...just passing and I really like eh GAA,
...just passing and I really like eh GAA,
all the GAA sports, the hurling,
camogie.
Is that Poppy?
My son's taken a bit of a shine to her.
(Laughing)
Christ, girl!
I thought I'd seen some over involved parents!
That poor lad.
It's not like I followed her here.
But as I'm here, what's she like? Not bad.
For a blow-in.
Good strike on her.
Nice one, Poppy!
Good commitment, nice one!
Yeah but you know what I mean?
What's she like?
Nice girl.
Oh.
Especially considering she's Teddy Lawson's daughter,
pompous prick!
(Whistle blows) Alright, girls!
Hello, Mrs. Ryan. Ah it's Poppy, right?
Yeah.
Yeah...I thought I'd stop by and take a look,
I used to love a bit of hockey in my day.
Yeah we're not big into hockey round here!
It's all GAA.
Well Connor tells me you're an excellent surfer.
Yeah, I'm heading to the beach this afternoon.
Hoping to get him off the beach and onto a board.
Good luck with that!
Connor hates the water.
(Girls cheering)
Yeah, see you later.
Seeya, bye.
#
And just so you know it's Mizen Head,
not Mi-zen.
And the madeleines are on the house.
That is so sweet.
We love your buns!
Thank you.
What are you doing...
...giving away all our stock?
I'm just being hospitable.
With a tenner's worth of buns?
They're madeleines, Breege...
...madeleines.
Hey. You're back again.
Come on, Kate.
Don't be coy.
No I just wanted to bring you out for a drink, bite to eat, my treat.
Butter me up...make sure I don't spill the beans to Baz?
No!
Well...yeah that but,
I also really wanted to see if we could get passed our past
and be pals again.
(Phone rings)
I'm so sorry, I actually have to take t his,
can you...would you just think about it?
Please?
#
Bye, seeya later!
Have a good day.
Do you miss Cornwall?
Eh, no.
I go back all the time to see my mum.
Does she get over here much?
No.
They way my parents argue,
it's better there's a large body of water between them!
Neither island's big enough for the both of them.
One problem I don't have.
What's the story with your dad?
Eh I don't have one.
Oh, soz!
Is he just out of the picture or?
Nah, nah...no big story.
I'm a donor job.
Yeah my mam didn't want to wait to meet anyone.
Just as well really.
That's...brave.
So anyway...
...take this.
Oh...there you go!
Follow me over here.
#
Put it down about here. Face this way.
Push yourself up.
Down and up.
Whoosh yourself...oh!
Whoosh yourself up.
Yeah!
(Shouting)
(Laughing)
I don't know what all the fuss is about.
It's a wind farm, not social housing or a refugee centre.
Oh, Kate...come in, there's fresh tea.
Love a cuppa.
We were just talking about the whole wind farm fiasco.
Oh?
This is Cliona.
Family friend.
Hiya.
Down on your holidays, is it?
Eh yeah, mm-hmm.
Dublin...I assume?
Cliona got me this.
She loves it.
Gorgeous!
Eh yeah...it's em...
Ooh!
Mmm. It's vegan.
Low fat.
Gluten free.
Mm.
No!
Wall-to-wall butter and sugar!
God...no!
This eh...doesn't happen by accident!
(Chuckles quietly)
So...
...what's all this about a wind farm fiasco?
Well we'll know more about that on Monday.
Town hall meeting.
Callum's organising it.
'Emceeing' he calls it.
Ugh...he'll love that!
Listen I better head, I need to pack.
Cliona's an air hostess. Flight attendant!
Less glamourous than it sounds.
Long haul to San Fran tomorrow. Ugh!
Aw.
I'll see myself out.
Nice to meet you...
...Karen.
She seems...nice.
Callum's ex-wife.
Still married in the eyes of the church though,
so there's hope for them yet.
But not for that blouse!
#
(Baz sings) # For the sun, for the light,
# for the right for the master.
# We come to be kind,
# to be born here and after. #
Hey!
Hey sister in suds! How you doing?
Baz Crowley.
Sorry this is Connor Ryan. Oh...Kate's son, am I right, bro?
Yep that's me.
Your mam she's...
...she's ricos.
That means she's perfect.
Is she?!
Yeah she's kind of like the layer of water in a wetsuit, you know,
chilly at first but when you get her warmed up...
Ah...I was telling Connor you're the guy to talk to if he wants proper lessons.
Yeah man.
You can't force it, bro.
Your mum was saying the water's not really your thing.
Well he spent enough time falling into it today!
Thanks!
Beers, fridge, help yourself.
# This is our hay day, baby.
# We're not gonna be afraid...#
How was your day?
Yeah, pretty good actually.
I met one of your ex-boyfriends.
Well I'm assuming it was the way he talked about you!
Oh?
Yeah that eh Baz Crowley.
Weird that you never mentioned you and him.
What was he saying about me?
(Scoffs)
Gross stuff about water in wetsuits.
Besides that I guess he was alright.
Totally different to you.
He's pretty laid back.
I'm laid back!
(Laughs)
Come on, I can be when I wanna be.
We can't all be beach bums,
some of us have the pressures of life to deal with.
Yeah, and we can't all be career warriors like you.
Anyway, guess I'll give him a chance,
he's gonna take me out for a surf lesson.
Surfing? That's not your vibe.
Mum...
...please, never say 'vibe'.
It really doesn't suit you.
(He laughs)
(Scoffs)
(Closes door)
(Music plays) (Surfing ad plays)
(phone sounds)
Kate! I didn't know you were a runner.
Oh, completely!
Yeah, it's like a drug when you get into it.
Not that I've ever done drugs. Of course.
Strictly ketamine for me.
(laughs) Do you wanna join?
Eh, no I was just warming down myself.
Wow, you didn't even break a sweat I'm impressed.
Mm. I'm...quite fit.
I was just admiring the view.
Yeah it's really something.
I don't want to have to swim this route in 20 years time.
I don't want to have to swim this route in 20 years time.
God, it must be hard though. Banging the green drum out there by yourself.
Ah, we're always looking for allies.
Anyway to fill the airtime. What about China?
They're doing some really interesting stuff with green energy.
It's just hard convincing people here though.
What is it that you do again?
I don't remember hearing it.
# #
They're in here somewhere.
Ah, I didn't think I'd see those again.
Sorry for running out on you, B.
Slave to the wave and all.
I can't believe I missed out on those iced madeleines.
Fuck my life, if I hear another word about those madeleines.
Whoa. Ugh, sorry.
Just that it's all Stefan talks about at the moment.
It's all work, and business,
and whatever recipe he's perfecting this month.
Why, is he dragging his heels on the fostering?
I didn't say that.
Ah, I can tell.
Am I that transparent?
You just seem a bit wound up lately, that's all.
Ah.
I thought things were going well.
You not almost on the fostering panel?
And you see that's the thing,
Stefan keeps putting off the final interview.
It's like there's always an excuse.
Part of me thinks maybe he's just not ready to be a parent.
Are you?
Look B, people deal with things in their own way.
Huh? You just gotta do you.
Try winding yourself down a bit.
You know?
Otherwise you'll be no good to anyone.
Especially not a kid.
Tune in to me,
Callum Kelleher for your mid-morning truth seeking missile.
Broadcasting across the bay, it's Westcoast 105 FM.
And I'm delighted to introduce my next guest Kate Ryan,
a visitor to our town who also happens to be an environmental compliance consultant.
So I've asked her in to discuss the ins and outs
of all things wind farm ahead of Monday's townhall meeting Carrigeen.
Kate?
Yes, that's right Callum. I've been all over Europe with my work.
So I've had the opportunity actually to see first hand
the benefits that wind energy can bring to others.
And why do you think those others
have embraced wind energy in such a bit way?
Well obviously there's the clean green aspect,
but I'm noting more the benefits economically
that it brings to a community.
As a compliance officer, you see the good, the bad and the ugly,
but done right by a reputable company,
there are a lot of upsides.
Get those calls coming in,
but in the meantime we'll kick things off with an email.
'Hey Callum, I wanna know why we're letting another foreign power take our energy.'
Short and to the point. Kate?
Well I think the key here is that
NorskVentus are offering a 20 percent dividend.
And eh, I would imagine during construction
they'll be hiring local crews, and using local services.
So it's an economic win-win for the town.
It is.
Reputable companies are very aware of how hard it is
for communities to embrace change, hence the generous package.
Yes indeed, some developers try to solve local objections
with infrastructural additions.
Now that I'm thinking about it,
they could definitely do with bringing some highspeed broadband to areas.
You know, places that aren't seen as commercially viable.
Now you're talking.
Ok, we've got a caller.
I have a question for your guest.
Given she's such an expert on our wind farm,
I'm wondering has she been chatting to the Norskis at all.
Eh yes, as Callum mentioned in his introduction,
I am a freelance consultant, which is why I'm so up to speed.
Also, I spend a lot of time in Carrigeen when I was younger,
which is why the town means so much to me.
At least she's standing up for a cause,
which is more than some people in public office are doing.
What's that supposed to mean? Well if Kate Ryan ran for office,
she'd certainly have my vote Councillor Kelleher.
Ay yi yi, the pair of them.
(laughs)
You were great!
Oh, I'm just happy to help.
Especially as you've got your townhall meeting coming up.
Oh true, would be great to have a pro voice like yours on side.
Especially as we'll be voting on the appeals.
Yeah well I wouldn't want to be seen to interfere in town business.
I think it's a bit late for that.
Look, come to the meeting.
You don't have to come up on the stage,
just sit in the audience and I'll come up to you.
Eh... ok, I'm in.
Great. See ya.
And you're back with me Callum Kelleher.
(birds chirping)
Maureen? Maureen.
Have you heard your wan on Callum's show?
There's fresh coffee in the pot. I'm on my way out.
For someone down here on holidays,
she's very caught up in our local windfarm business.
Callum invited her on.
And maybe she genuinely believes it could be a good thing for the town.
She's not the only one.
No need to remind me what side you're on.
Callum has you brainwashed. It could be a God send for us,
I don't know why you're sitting on the fence about it all.
As an independent councillor, I have to represent all sides.
If I come out in favour of it,
people will be saying there goes Big Mike in support of big business,
and not caring about the ordinary punter.
Oh you should at least take a side.
Show them that you have some balls.
Oh, and for the record, nobody calls you Big Mike.
You know what? I know a politician when I see one.
Especially a Jackeen who comes cosying up to the country,
acting like she has local ties.
Mark my words, come the next local election
she will be banging on our doors. Singing, 'KATE FOR COUNCILLOR'.
Maybe you'll vote for her.
# #
I will vote for her.
(children laughing)
So if the vote goes in your favour tonight,
does that mean we're leaving? I dunno.
Maybe, if it's a landslide.
It's not gonna be a landslide though, is it?
Do I get the feeling that you don't want it to be?
I do. Like for you I mean. (laughs)
But you like it here, don't you? I didn't say that.
I mean, I guess it's alright for now.
Hi!
Hey. Hey.
It's the Rhino.
The what? The Rhino.
He's a Ryan. You know, Ryan-o.
Hey Poppy. Hello Mrs. Ryan.
Ah no, call me Kate. What are you guys up to?
Baz was gonna fire up the barbecue.
Yeah, I've been practicing my brisket for the end of summer shindig.
There's plenty to share.
Eh no, we better go. We have this thing.
What thing?
Let's go.
Laters.
I have to meet Morten and strategize about the townhall meeting.
That's not til like half seven. You've ages.
Yeah, I've to get changed and prepped and everything.
And?
So I better go but Conor could... Murder some brisket.
Guys, wait up.
# #
(gasp)
Clear the air? How long have you been here?
About 3 minutes. My arse is numb.
(laughs)
Unless you have to be somewhere.
Eh I do have to go meet Conor is a while,
I probably shouldn't drink very much. Just a litttllee glass of wine then?
The whiskey can wait.
(sighs) Go on. Eee!
# #
You sure you don't want a top up? Mm-hmm, I'm grand.
More for me so.
For the forgiveness of sins.
You didn't drink? No,
I'm just not sure of what sins we're forgiving.
Uh, do you want a list?
(chuckles) Is this about Dolphin gate?
No!
Although you did skidaddle back up to Dublin,
leaving me to deal with the flack on that.
Splasher knew what he was doing.
And from what I hear, he's always been partial to the single malt.
(laughs) Until he was beached.
Ok, that was unfortunate.
But it's not as if he's dead or anything.
But he is pretty aggressive and moody these days.
Why didn't you tell me about Conor?
I know we lost touch... but you were at my wedding.
You didn't say anything.
He would have been.. 3?
I know.
Oh God, I know. And I'm so sorry.
The sad, banal truth is that it feels like I never really decided anything,
I just told this little white lie
and after a while I was just drowning in it.
I remember seeing the positive test and so I kind of panicked.
I never meant to lose touch with you.
I just... kept rolling along and...
here we are.
You should have told me.
I was your friend.
I could have helped ya.
I didn't know I needed help.
It hurt ya know.
Felt like you'd done with your small town girl.
Your little play thing. (laughs)
It's like you had your fun, and made your mistakes,
and then you just ditched me.
When you were good and ready.
Went back to your fancy life in Dublin.
With your Cristal and cocaine.
What?
Ah it was the boom, it's what Dublin looked like on the telly.
Oh, if you could have seen what my life actually looked like. (laughs)
Lies have a life of their own.
I'm gonna tell you something now.
God's honest truth.
No word of a lie.
I need to pee.
(groans)
(phone sounds)
(quietly) Mmm. Oh. Sh...
(toilet flushes)
Em... My marriage is in trouble.
There. I've said it.
It's the truth.
It needed to be said.
Are you going somewhere?
Nope.
Ok, ok. One voice please.
You'll all get your turn.
Shh shh shh.
Thank you. Now you all know where I stand on this issue.
I've made no secret of my enthusiasm for the windfarm.
Oh yeah, every feckin' weekday. Huh?
Monday to Friday, 10AM to midday we've heard ya. We've heard ya.
Least we know you're a loyal listener Danny.
But tonight is when you, the people of Carrigeen,
have your say.
And as is customary,
I'll ask Councillor Michael Kelleher to say a few words.
(applause)
Well the way I see it, we're all on the onside here.
We all want the best for our town.
(applause)
We want to see it flourish and thrive.
We want our businesses to succeed,
and our livelihoods to be secure.
And I believe that the wind farm could deliver all of that.
But I want to reassure that I will do everything in my power
to protect our beautiful, unspoiled seascape from the ravages
of any foreign corporations.
(applause)
Now, before we take comments from the floor,
I'd just like to clarify something.
That seems to have been forgotten by the anti windfarm lobby.
The planning permission has been granted.
The deal is done.
NorskVentus are now legally entitled
to construct those turbines out in our bay.
But if you've got the stomach for a long protracted battle,
then go for it.
Or, you could concede that this isn't the worst thing to happen to our town.
See it as a positive,
# #
and lucrative step towards enhancing Carrigeen's reputation
as the town that led the way to cleaner, future for West Cork.
(cheers and applause)
That's bollocks! Norskis out!
CHANTING: Norskis out! Norskis out!
Norskis out! Norskis out!
Norskis out! Norskis out!
# #
Norskis out! Norskis out!
Maybe he doesn't want to change.
And...maybe he never did.
We don't even have sex any more.
But love, every relationship goes through a fallow period.
Fallow period?
Maybe lay off the fertility metaphors.
Kind of a touchy subject. I am so sorry.
Yeah, I know.
Maybe he's going through a midlife crisis.
I've tried everything, Kate.
Look, clearly I am no expert on relationships but...
...having Conor in my life has taught me a thing or two about the male of the species.
You have to be patient with them, let them come to things in their own time.
And if you can make them think it was their idea in the first place,
even better.
You've done a good job there, girl.
He's a good lad. Have I?
I've lied to the one person who means the most to me.
And I've done it for all his life.
You know I wasn't going to tell Baz.
I never would.
I was just raging with you.
But you will have to tell Conor.
Maybe you don't know anything about relationships and what do I know about parenting?
But I do know if I was lucky enough to have the choice,
I'd tell my kid the truth.
Everyone's worried about making mistakes and we can't control the future.
We just have to do what's right.
Mmm-hmmm.
Now do we have anyone else who would like to voice their opinion
or ask any questions on this matter?
Ah, Paudie.
This community dividend lark, what's that all about?
I heard you woman on the radio saying something about 20 percent.
Yes, indeed.
Let me see how this works now.
(FEEDBACK ON MIC) Hello everyone.
Ah, yes.
We in NorskVentus understand that our success depends on the support of communities like yours.
And that's why we can make a super generous offer of 20 percent community dividend to your town.
(RIPPLES OF ENTHUSIASM IN CROWD)
Yes, in a way you'll all be part owners of the wind farm.
Not only do you get to do the right thing but also you get paid for it.
How do you say, both of...no.
Best of both worlds. Is that it? Yeah.
To be fair it's hard to argue with that.
I'd like to remind all outsiders that this is a Carrigeen issue.
It is we that must live with the wind farm.
And who knows if they really are safe.
Let me reassure you, Councillor Kelleher, and all of you,
it's not in NorskVentus' interest to have any safety issues whatsoever.
Thank you.
I must say it is most unlikely to hear a Norwegian voice speak on Irish matters.
(laughs)
Thank you, gentlemen. Any further comments from the floor? Yes.
No, thank you.
Teddy Lawson.
Resident of this charming town for year now and as many of you know,
I'm a passionate lover... (SCATTERED LAUGHTER)
...of our unique species of flora and fauna,
as well as patron of the arts and protector of our local heritage.
We all know ya, ya blow-in.
The 20 percent community dividend is worthless.
The 20 percent community dividend is worthless.
That's not correct. (CROWD MURMUR)
It's a very generous offer and one that we're not obliged to make.
Norskventus' 20 percent dividend is contingent on the wind farm producing energy,
which is at least 3 years down the line.
And even then Norskventus will take their considerable set-up costs out first,
which means what's left in the pot for Carrigeen will barely
be enough to cover for the downturn in tourism.
And given that planning permission has been granted,
I say we need to make a bigger noise.
Take our fight to the top, to Oslo, if we have to
and show them we're not pushover of a backwater in the far corner of Europe.
Whoa! Whoa! What do you mean 'backwater'?
Is that what you be calling us when you're back home in the mainland?
Don't get too excited.
Hold on! Lads.
I didn't mean it.
That's why we need to go big or go home. OK. Thank you Mr Lawson.
(MUSIC) (Conor laughs)
Incredible.
Alright, check out these kook. He means a rookie surfer.
Dude doesn't realise he's surrounded by men in grey suits.
I've got one for you.
Pops, you're embarrassing me now.
(VOICEOVER) "...all the way from Ireland..."
Is that you?
A million years ago, yeah. When he was a pro.
That was a whole other life.
No point living in the past.
It's all about the future, right.
It's all about now.
True dat. Appreciate it.
Protect it.
Otherwise it will be gone before you realise what you had.
And anyone else?
My mother, Mrs Kelleher.
What about high speed fibre broadband for the town?
Why can't you do something about that?
Hmmm?
Here, lad!
Yank! Yank!
If you're giving away prizes, I'd like a new set of kit for our camogie team.
And full sponsorship for the club.
You can throw in new training pitches by the clubhouse while you're at it.
APPLAUSE/CHEERING
I think we'll have to wrap things up. Can we...?
Can we have a show of hands from the floor?
All in favour of Norskventus' wind farm and the benefits it will bring to our town, raise your hands.
(laughs)
And those against the wind farm.
(CHEER)
The nos have carried it.
CHEERING/APPLAUSE
While I'm personally disappointed, it's only fair to remind the nos
that you have 4 weeks to lodge your appeals to An Bord Pleanala.
Good night and slan abhaile.
APPLAUSE/CHEERING
I'm telling you Callum, that's some cop out what Teddy was saying...
'we won't see a penny of their 20 percent'.
Doesn't matter what side you're on. At least you showed up.
# It's a slippery slope when you're sliding
# It's a steep old hill when you're climbing
# A long way down when you're falling
# Won't you tell me when you hit the ground
(laughter)
(Indistinct conversation)
Hey.
I heard the vote went south for the Norskis. Yep.
Amen to that.
Ahem.
I have to say, Kate, it's been awesome hanging out with your little conman. Conman? Conor.
Ah.
He thinks I've got potential.
I'm going to have a few more lessons, see what happens. Ah...
Don't worry, it won't cost you a penny.
Conor's agreed to work with me in the surf school for free lessons.
Isn't that great? It's...great.
Yes, it's great. I'll catch you later.
# A long way down when you're falling
# Won't you tell me when you hit the ground....#
