Episode 19

Commander Fu.

Since the Princess was poisoned,

you've been waiting outside the door every day.

Li Yu has escaped now.

Why don't you take a break?

It is because the murderer has escaped

and to prevent her from harming the Princess

that I need to keep guard closely.

Thank you then.

It's my duty.

Take a look.

No, thank you

Little Su.

You knew at first

that Li Yu's document belonged to Lei Zheng, right?

Yes.

Take a look!

Lei Zheng always smokes tobacco.

He's got light yellow tobacco tar on the fingers.

Traces of tobacco tar were left on that paper.

If I were to say straightforward,

he would definitely accuse me of making it up.

After all, I was the only one who saw it.

So

only by proving that he had forged the document

could we reveal his crime.

His Majesty praised you

and even promised me

that as long as you could solve the crisis,

he would personally appoint you as a female officer.

To solve the crisis,

we should first find the antidote.

The marriage alliance is a half measure.

Now that the truth has come to light,

I can call off the engagement

as soon as the Princess recovers.

Time is running out for the Princess.

We don't even have a clue

about the last ingredient of the poison.

Right now,

Rushuang can only work on it one by one.

The last one.

What's the last one?

A banquet will be held at Lord Liu's residence

and they've prepared many special dishes.

Will you go there?

My mother said

they sent us the invitation.

It's not good if we don't go.

But I know their intention.

They just want me

to marry Lord Liu's dumb son.

How annoying.

Why would Li Yu have the reception document?

Why did she wait until the banquet

since she was close to the Princess for so long?

They knew from the document

that I would receive the delegation.

From the moment Shuomo

proposed the marriage alliance at the court,

they set this trap for me.

If they used your banquet to set this trap,

the former three ingredients were just paving the way

for the place where

the last poison worked.

Only then

could they stitch you up

for the crime of poisoning the Princess.

So the last one

must appear on the banquet.

But there were so many foods at the banquet.

Which one was the last poison?

It's Beirong's food.

Are you sure?

When hosting the delegation, it's customary

to prepare their special local dishes

at the banquet.

All they had to do is to conjecture

the food that I'd prepare at the banquet.

What were the dishes?

Cheese.

Kumis.

Cold noodles.

Are you sure?

These three dishes.

I'll test them

and make the antidote.

That's great.

Rushuang, are you going to stay up late again?

-I'll keep you company. -All right.

No.

By the elimination method,

this isn't the poison as well.

Rushuang.

I...

My heart is beating so fast.

You...

Is yours the same?

Yes.

Rushuang.

We...

Are we poisoned?

There

are so many sorts of poisonous powder.

We'll easily get poisoned.

Exactly.

You are poisoned.

Am I poisoned?

What should I do?

I am poisoned!

I am poisoned!

Have the antidote then.

Such a fool.

I've made it.

Wake up.

Xie Beiming, wake up!

Xie Beiming!

Look! I've made it.

Get up!

Look!

I did it!

Capital Suburb Inn

It's too bitter. I don't want to drink it.

You still have to.

Ms. Rushuang said

with a few doses

your hair would back to normal.

Here.

Where's my brother?

As you got poisoned,

the peace talks were delayed.

His Highness has gone into the palace.

I should thank Detective Su

and Ms. Rushuang.

There is another one you should thank.

Who?

Your Highness, ever since you lost consciousness,

Commander Fu has been guarding by the door.

He has lost so much weight.

Even at night?

Send him in.

But you're not properly dressed.

May I help you get changed?

No, it's fine.

But...

Go on.

All right.

Commander Fu.

Her Highness is asking for you.

Your Highness.

Rise.

Your Highness, are you feeling better?

That's great then.

May I know

what I can do for you?

Little Yue said that ever since I got poisoned,

you have been guarding me all this time.

I don't like to be indebted to others.

Tell me.

How should I repay you?

It's my duty to protect Your Highness.

There's no need to repay me.

If there's nothing else,

I shall take my leave.

Your duty?

Royal Announcement "In response to the public,

Look!

His Majesty is to implement a female official system.

So

now women really can be officials.

Exactly.

I've heard Su Ci is a female detective in Mingjing Office.

She's as good as the men.

Thanks to her saving the Princess,

the female official system

can finally be implemented.

I should hurry up to send my daughter to the school.

Let her work in Mingjing Office in the future

and learn from Detective Su.

Detective Su!

-Detective Su! -Detective Su!

Detective Su!

You've lied to us for so long.

Yeah.

Yeah. It's too long.

From now on,

no one should boast his powers of observation.

Yes.

We've worked with Detective Su for years.

But no one has ever noticed it!

All I can say is that Detective Su is so heroic

that she's no worse than men!

-Yeah. Yeah. -You get to the point.

I had no choice

but to hide my identity.

I hope you can pardon me.

That's too much.

Don't be like that.

We shall ride on your coattails.

-Right? -Yes!

Why are you so noisy?

You've just recovered from the poisoning.

Why not take more rests?

Please don't worry about me.

That's great then.

the Lead Officer told me to do the remaining work

of the case of Lei Zheng.

I have sorted the files.

I'll leave them to you now.

Lei Zheng's residence is still under inspection.

I have other cases to handle.

Thank you.

Also, I found a marking

on Lei Zheng's body.

It's very similar to the one

you were looking for.

Have a look.

Come and look.

Come on and look.

The rouge from this store is good.

That's right.

I often buy it here.

Really?

Commander Fu.

I'v heard that there are many sorts of rouge.

Come with me and pick up a few.

Your Highness.

Let the guards go with you.

I'll wait for you at the door.

Why?

You were the one who always kept me company.

To be honest,

My late wife often asked me

to accompany her to buy rouge.

Now she's gone,

I don't want to go there anymore.

She's already gone.

You need to let go of the past

and start a new life.

Your Highness.

You haven't found the person you like.

You don't know how hard it is to forget someone.

Who says I don't have anyone I like?

You're the one I like.

Your Highness, please don't tease me.

I'm not!

I like you.

Your Highness.

Prince Qi is the one you should like.

I don't like Prince Qi.

But you are getting married soon.

I'll ask my brother to call off the engagement.

Even if you don't like Prince Qi,

you shouldn't like me either.

Why can't I like you?

I already have someone I love.

I won't fall in love with anyone else.

You...

Don't you like me?

No.

You've been guarding me

when I got poisoned.

It's my duty to protect you.

Am I only a Princess

to you?

Of course, you're also my friend.

Even friends can turn into lovers.

Right?

Your Highness.

Don't waste your time on me.

It's not worth it.

Come on.

Sir, please come upstairs.

How's Princess Yunchuan now?

Don't worry.

She's all good now.

It'll not affect your engagement.

Fortunately, she's blessed to escape this time.

Otherwise,

I cannot get away with it.

No need to blame yourself.

The murderer has been executed.

It has nothing to do with you.

But

I wonder why Lei Zheng

poisoned Yunchuan?

Shuomu.

To be frank,

Lei Zheng's target

was me.

What?

You don't get it.

All these years

I might be a Prince sitting idle.

But I've been targeted.

Someone's always trying to

kill me.

I'm treading on thin ice every day

wary of being killed.

Once I went travelling

and I almost got killed.

But it will be better now.

Princess Yunchuan and I are getting married soon.

With the support from Beirong,

I can live safe and sound now.

Come on. Drink up.

Drink up.

Come on.

Brother.

I have something to discuss with you.

Okay.

So do I.

You go first.

What is it?

Well...

The Prince Qi I chose for you...

He's not a good choice.

How so?

He's just a Prince sitting idle.

He has no other supports

and is often targeted.

I'm worried...

You're worried that I'd have a hard time if I married him?

Not only the hard time.

Also...

you might get into danger.

Just call of the engagement then.

You...

Won't you feel upset?

What's there to be upset about?

You were the one who chose Prince Qi.

Besides, I'm here waiting for you

to tell you

that I don't want to marry Prince Qi.

Yunchuan.

Don't worry.

I'll surely find a good husband for you.

Don't bother.

I can pick one myself.

I didn't know what it's to like someone before.

I always thought the one you chose must be the best.

But now I have someone I like,

I can't just get married to someone I don't like.

You have someone you like?

Who is it?

I'm not telling you.

Shuomu.

When you call off the engagement tomorrow,

help me ask His Majesty for a favour.

Prince Shuomu, what brings you here?

Your Majesty.

The covenant has been signed.

Soon after the truce,

the trade at the border will be resumed.

My mission has been achieved.

I will leave for Beirong tomorrow.

As for...

Princess Yunchuan's marriage...

I hope Your Majesty can call it off.

What...

Why is that?

Your Majesty.

Previously, I was so rash

that I suggested a marriage alliance for my sister.

After much deliberation,

my sister was spoiled by my father since youth.

She has a really bad temper.

I find it inappropriate.

Princess Yunchuan

must be a straightforward and cheerful person.

Girls like her

are to my liking.

No.

You are not familiar with her.

If she were to marry you,

in less than three days

she would even tear down the walls.

Well...

The marriage alliance is to consolidate our friendship.

If it gave rise to conflicts...

all our previous efforts would be in vain.

It looks like I'm not that lucky to marry her.

It's my sister who is unlucky to lose it.

Prince Shuomu, don't be sorry.

We have so many young and talented men in our country.

I'm sure she can find the right one.

Since you two have no objection,

the engagement is canceled then.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Yes, Your Majesty.

My sister...

has another request.

"The Emperor

Imperial Edict who follows the Mandate of Heaven declares

Fu Ziyou has rendered great merits for

protecting Princess Yunchuan and he shall be reinstated.

As decreed by His Majesty."

Come on.

Put them in order.

Yes.

Commander Fu.

Your Highness.

Thank you for all this time.

It's my duty.

Your Highness, have a safe journey.

Commander Fu!

Capital Suburb Inn

Your Highness.

You've been reinstated.

So are you happy?

Your Highness.

How do you know that?

Of course I know.

Well.

Take this.

It's the sword tassel made on my own.

I don't owe you anything now.

Your Highness.

You don't have to do this.

It's up to me.

I know you still can't forget your late wife.

But I'm giving you this sword tassel

merely to express my feelings.

Yes, I like you.

But I'll not force you to like me in return.

Today, I will be going back to Beirong with my brother.

Perhaps

I might continue to like you.

Or perhaps, I might forget you soon.

It doesn't matter if you like me.

It's my own business.

It's none of your business.

Commander Fu.

We shall meet again.

Xiwen.

Your Highness, how's it?

Shuomu called off the engagement.

Congrats, Your Highness!

Where's Little Su?

Detective Su is inspecting the Lei mansion.

Your Highness, where are you going?

To see Little Su.

Lei Mansion

Little Su.

Where did she go?

Sir.

We couldn't find Detective Su anywhere.

Detective Su probably has left.

Tell them to lock the door and go back.

We shall continue tomorrow.

Yes.

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

That's great then.

We should find a way to get out.

People will gossip

if they see us like this.

Let them.

No matter what,

I'm going to marry you.

The one you're engaged with

is Princess Yunchuan.

It's inappropriate for you to say this.

What if I'm not engaged anymore?

What do you mean?

The engagement

was called off.

Really?

Really?

Little Su.

I've never thought

you like me so much.

I...

I'm not!

Are you all right?

Are you all right?

It looks like we need to get out soon.

Otherwise, I'll get bruised all over.

This must be a trap that Lei Zheng set up

in fear of others stealing his stolen goods.

Hold on.

Don't move.

Be careful.

Come on.

Thank god that you're fine.
