Episode 16

Don't tell others if you know it.

Yingying!

Follow me!

Big brother.

What're you going to do?

Who is your big brother?

Let's go!

Big brother.

Don't follow.

Let's go!

Dad,

What's the matter?

You are so distinguished.

My daughter doesn't deserve you.

Forgive us.

Give it to me.

Let's go!

Go! Go!

Yingying!

Wait for me!

Big brother.

Why don't we take her by force?

Right, big brother.

By force.

Even she has over 100 cousins.

A rich young lord always takes a woman for marriage by force.

We poor people also can make it.

We can go for a rich mademoiselle.

Yeah.

No bullshit! Okay?

You just give me bad ideas.

Big brother.

Her family dislike you don't have family background,

do they?

I think

you'd better pass the imperial examinations at the provincial level

and become Voodo Sect an official.

Make the Xia family envy.

They must regret.

I, Ye Xiaotian,

never resign myself to destiny.

Yingying.

Wait for me.

If a beauty must marry to an official,

I have to pass

the imperial examination.

Big brother.

Your mission is very easy today.

Just study hard.

Okay.

No problem?

No problem.

Just study hard.

Fighting!

No problem.

Duoni!

Give me a cup of strong tea.

Big brother.

Big brother.

Big brother.

Time to eat?

Nothing to eat here.

Why don't you go to sleep?

Why're you staring at me?

Big brother.

You can't sleep anymore.

Tie your hair on the house beam or jab you with a needle to keep you awake, pick one.

Jab yourself with a needle.

But I am your younger brother.

I can't bear to stab you.

Do it myself.

Will it hurt if this thing stabs me?

It won't.

Really.

Yeah.

You stab me!

You!

Big brother.

Drink tea, please.

Give it to me.

After I drink off the strong tea,

I'll come to see you each 15 minutes.

Never sleep!

Big brother.

Take it easy!

I won't sleep.

I will study hard.

Duoni!

Take him to bind up his leg.

Why is there so much blood?

Remember not to sleep!

Don't be lazy.

Take it easy! Take it easy!

Don't sleep.

Let's go.

Nonsense.

You're so annoying.

Tang Hulu.

Yingying, cheers.

May you two love each other forever

and live together till old age.

There is no living together till old age.

My dad doesn't allow us to get together.

You know Xiaotian is so kind.

Why does my dad dislike him?

Silly girl.

You're deeply addicted to love.

Nobody can help you.

Whatever.

This Ye Xiaotian...

What magic does he have?

Why are you so obsessed with him?

Damn Ye Xiaotian!

Thank you so much.

Why are you fed up with him?

I think

this guy is my nemesis.

As long as I meet with him,

misfortune will comes.

Do you know?

I met with him for the first time

in Huangzhou.

He turned over my noodle bow on purpose.

And asked me to deal with his opponent.

After that,

in Hu County

he cheated me again

I also gave him much money.

Especially he took off my dress.

You were there at the time.

I wish I could kill him.

I just think

we are like nemesis.

Damn it.

Thank you.

Afterwards,

in Thunder God Forbidden Area,

you know what happened?

there were many man-eating ants.

To save my life,

he pushed me to along the cliff

and ran into

the ants

to draw them away.

Ants...

What happened then?

Then I think

he is kind of manful.

He is qualified to be my friend.

Yep.

Let me tell you.

Xiaotian is very scheming.

Really?

Why do you say that?

Just tell me.

You know…

Tell me.

Do you know how we met?

At that time,

I ran away from home

to escape from

my finance who was arranged

when we were very young.

Then I met with Yang Yao.

She is so cute.

I was thinking that

I needed protect her.

I sent her to her aunt's home.

At this time,

Ye Xiaotian appeared.

Right.

What happened?

He and that lady, people called her...

Mrs. Yang. Mrs. Yang.

He told Mrs. Yang that

her husband had betrothed Yaoyao

to him.

Don't you think he is strange?

What he said was Yang Yao.

But his purpose was me.

I was thinking that

I am so smart,

right?

would I be fooled by him?

So I said yes.

Since it is so,

I just did as he wished.

I asked he to escort me

and Yang Yao home.

Really?

I followed him all the way.

I planned to run away with Yang Yao

if possible.

But after I ran away,

I was always swindled.

When I was cheated,

he came to rescue me.

After that, I ran away again.

And I was cheated again.

At this time,

he came to rescue me again.

What happened then?

And then

I fall in love with him.

Ye Xiaotian!

You are a big liar!

Ye Xiaotian!

You big liar!

Ye Xiaotian is a liar.

Big liar!

Big liar Ye Xiaotian!

Ye Xiaotian is a liar.

Big liar Ye Xiaotian!

Big liar Ye Xiaotian!

What's wrong with you?

Again!

Ye Xiaotian!

I was always dreaming that

a man of noble character would

come to detoxify my Love Insect with Loyal Heart Blood.

And then he would fall in love with me deeply.

I never thought that

I only guessed the beginning of the story.

But I can't see the end of our story.

Is there any news about

the man that I asked you to find?

My Heavenly King,

Ye Xiaotian is going to take the imperial examination in Guiyang.

I know where he lives now.

I wonder...

It's fine to find him.

Don't bother him.

He is of use to me.

Yes.

Have you gotten any special news recently?

Tian Miaowen also attaches great

importance to this examination.

There are 65 examinees respectively in Shaanxi and Shanxi.

50 examinees in Guangxi.

45 examinees in Yunnan.

My mademoiselle, it's too late.

You have to go to bed.

Only 30 examinees left in Guizhou.

According to the tradition,

our family only gets 2 quotas of examinee.

We need one more.

What should I do?

My mademoiselle,

the allocation of quotas of examinee has always been so.

No matter how you calculate, it can't be changed.

These people

are experienced and astute.

Getting one more quota

is greatly impossible.

We must get a quota for Xu Boyi.

He is good cultured.

And his heart is filled with lust.

This kind of people is easy to control.

What about juniors of Tian family?

Here comes Uncle Three.

Minority Headmen, good evening.

Uncle Three, good evening.

Miaowen.

I heard that Tian family has 2 quotas of provincial graduate in the examination.

But you gave them to outsiders.

Uncle Three.

They are not outsiders.

What they serve is still our family.

Are their first name Tian?

Doesn't our family have

talented people?

Uncle Three.

This time what you recommend

are your younger son

and Uncle Four's nephew.

The senior one of them is only 17 years old.

Although he is a good warrior,

he knows nothing about strategy.

If such person passes the provincial civil service exam,

what can he do?

But outsiders cannot be totally loyal.

Don't you understand?

What really matters is one's morality.

Uncle Three, our family is not as prosperous as before.

We should cherish talents.

If we always put our relatives in important positions,

how can we prosper our family?!

Shut up.

You're crazy.

Although you are in charge of our family,

I am your elder.

I can't let you make mistakes.

I can't sit watching.

Uncle Three.

If you are qualified,

our family has no chance to

fall low.

Do you know

so many people are disappointed.

If you give quotas to outsiders,

our family's seniors will be bitterly disappointed.

I

can't agree with you.

Uncle Three.

You can't…

Since

you call me uncle,

you must do as I say.

The two quotas

can't be given to outsiders.

Or

I will call up our families

to rebel you.

For our family?

How could he say that?

He isn't convinced that you are in charge of our family

under the order of your grandpa.

He takes great pains to make you abdicate.

How many unpresentable thing he has done

during these years!

My mademoiselle,

what should we do?

Yang Yinglong.

He always wants me to work for him.

Maybe

We can draw support with his power.

But he is overwhelmingly ambitious.

If cooperate with him,

we are likely in trouble.

Our family has fallen low.

We can't let such an opportunity slip.

Even cooperating with Yang Yinglong is a temporary relief,

I have no choice

but do it.

Heavenly King Yang. Nice to meet you.

There are An, Song, Tian and Yang families.

Your Tian family ranks before our Yang family.

I can't accept your such respectful greeting.

Those things has passed away.

Today's Yang family

is getting stronger under your leadership.

You're likely to be the strongest family.

Only An family in Shuixi

can match your Yang family.

So you deserve

my greeting.

So you must

ask me for help.

Why do you visit

me today?

Actually I come here

to ask you for help.

I hope

you can give up the quotas

of the candidates.

Guizhou is under the administration of Minority Official.

If you get some quotas,

you only get some petty officials

of little importance.

A lean camel is bigger than a horse.

Tian family has fallen low.

But does your family fall into such a low state?

Since you don't care about it,

why don't you give it to me?

I would pay you back.

Or

in next examination

I will return this favor to you.

I will thank you

all the same.

Just 2 quotas of provincial graduate...

I only count it for little.

More than that,

maybe what you're paying back isn't my cup of tea.

Well,

what do you want?

I want to help to prosper our Tian family.

8 prefectures under the control of Tian family

cannot be given to you once for all.

But don't think too much.

I can help you firstly to

seize the control of Tongren back.

I told you.

What do you really want?

I will tell you what I want.

Around Bozhou,

in the north,

the Chief Secretary in Sichuan

blocks the way.

In the south

Shuixi

and Shuidong

commissioners block the way.

If

I want to expand my influence,

I must expand eastward.

Only in this way

can our family survive from a desperate situation.

East Guizhou Province should have been under your family's control.

But now

it is in a state of disunity.

Each region does things in its own way.

I know

you are not reconciled at all.

Well,

you and I

can act in cooperation

with each other.

So

I will try my best to

help your family to prosper again.

Okay.

Make a deal.

Guiyang

It's dawn.

Why don't Xiao Wei and Xiao Lu wake me up?

Xiao Wei! Xiao Lu!

Why are you here?

Why can't I be here?

No. How can you be like that?

Don't you remember

what happened last night

after drinking wine?

I got it.

Wine is not a good thing.

Right.

Yingying.

I gotta go.

I'll see myself out.

Don't you have breakfast before leave?

I drank too much yesterday.

I have a headache and feel sick.

I can't eat anything.

Well.

Where're you going?

I...

go hunting on the mountain

to take a break.

That's so great.

I can't stay here anymore.

I plan to go back Red Maple Lake.

When you come back after hunting,

you can find me there.

Okay.

I will definitely visit you.

Bye.

Why are you still here?

Xiaotian is going to take the Imperial Examinations.

Hurry to prepare for him.

My mademoiselle,

I have something to tell you.

What's wrong?

How much you know

about Ye Xiaotian?

Promise me.

Don't tell others if you know it.

I thought how much it matters

About this...

Don't tell anyone else.

Okay?

My mademoiselle.

Are you fine?

Let's go cheer for Xiaotian.

Are you sure?

This old man also comes to take the Imperial Examinations?

He is such an old age.

He really takes the examination with his life.

I respect him.

Nice to meet you, examiner.

Hello, everyone.

Let me introduce the rules.

One, no shouting.

Two, no surrogate for exam-taker.

Three, no carry secretly.

Four, no chatting in examination rooms.

Now enter the room and accept checks.

Official,

take him away.

Official,

I beg you not to throw me out.

Official, official, get out.

I wanna take the examination.

Official, get out.

Official.

Get out!

I wanna take the examination. Get out.

Official.

I wanna take the examination. Official! Get out.

Take him away.

Examiner.

I wanna take the examination.

Please give me a chance.

Take him away. Examiner.

I wanna take the examination. Get out.

Please give me a chance.

Examiner.

Examiner!

Throw him out!

Let me go!

Get out!

Examiner.

Please give me a chance.

Buddy,

why not drinking some water to catch your breath.

Thanks.

How could this be?!

Damn it.

Let me tell you, my son,

Yingying threw a tantrum at me yesterday.

She insisted on marrying Ye Xiaotian.

You spoiled her too much since she was young.

Dad.

Who spoiled her? Me or you?

Tell me.

Did I have chance to discipline her?

When I said some harsh words to her,

she only curled her lip and stood in front of you.

You would punch me in the face of her

till she smiled through tears.

Then you would stop.

Damn it.

What nonsense?

Do you think you can talk nonsense

if you have a daughter and a son

at such an old age?

I would punch you to death if you make me mad.

Grandpa.

My granddaughter.

I heard you had a drink last night.

Little girls

are not advised to drink too much.

I was keeping Ning'er accompany.

Grandpa.

Let me tell you.

Xiaotian saved Sister Ning'er's life before.

Really?

Did Ye Xiaotian cheat you

and cheat Miss Zhan?

This bad boy.

How dare he go after 2 girls at the same time?

Let me kill him for you.

What are you saying?

They are just buddies.

More than that.

Xiaotian is so outstanding.

It's reasonable that

girls will like him.

Where is he outstanding?

Why can't I see it?

What can you see?!

You don't have to see it.

I can see it. That's ok!

You stay here.

I gotta go.

Slow down.

Where're you going?

It's early morning!

Grandpa.

Xiaotian is going to take the Imperial Examinations.

I have to go cheer for him.

To encourage him.

No.

They have rules.

The school is closed as required.

Officials enter into the examination room

will be headed.

You can't do that.

I can wait for him outside.

I want to be the first person

he see when he comes out.

My daughter.

It's too disorderly.

You are too naive and kind.

Grandpa.

He said I am foolish.

Bullshit!

You stupid.

My granddaughter

is born beautiful and smart.

Nobody can defame her. Understand?

Yes.

Grandpa is right.

Of course.

The salt did your grandpa eat

is more than the rice you dad eat.

You're really awkward in speech.

Nobody dislike such clever girl.

Right?

But Yingying.

You're just too popular.

I am worried about you.

When you go out,

let your elder brothers keep you accompany.

They can beat those bad guys away.

Beat them to death.

Even good guys will be scared away by you.

If they keep me accompany,

Xiaotian will be afraid to talk with me.

Don't cheat me anymore.

That's it.

I gotta go.

See you later.

Look at her.

She was quite thoughtful.

You spoil her too much.

Dad.

It's you.

Look at what you just looked like.

Your eyes are not so big.

Once you smile,

your eyes narrow into a slit.

You! You! I wanna beat you!

What Yang Lin said is true.

There are 10 literary quotations.

5 of them are notes.

Another 5 questions are commentaries.

These questions are easy to answer.

But it's a little difficult to

give an excellent answer.

Captain Ye,

you know

I am always

short of money.

I want to borrow some from you.

But I know you very well.

That is impossible.

Right?

So

I got an idea.

Why don't we just do a business together?

What business can you do with me?

This is only a small part.

As you see,

I sorted out

the examination papers that came first in the past few years.

I made some notes on them.

All you need to do is to print them in book stores

and bind them in a volume. It will certainly sell well.

We can share the profits.

Is that ok?

Anyone will

buy these waste paper?

You. What you are talking about?!

Anyway

I reached on the first

in the imperial examination.

That was not easy.

With these paper,

no matter how stupid an man is,

he can pass the Imperial Examinations

if he studies it in details.

I mean

you're such an old age.

Why do you have to take the Imperial Examinations?

Is it better for you to enjoy family happiness?

What? Anyone come for help!

Someone is vomiting blood.

Come on!

I never thought that

someone can hand in the papers like me at the same time.

You really answered fast.

Didn't you write nothing?

Aren't you Scholar Xu?

It's been a long time.

I miss you so much.

You miss me?

Absolutely!

Since you left Hu County

with a sorry figure,

I have missed you every day.

Isn't Tomb-Sweeping Day coming?

I miss you very much when the Day is coming.

I was thinking that

so many good guys have lost their lives.

Why don't people like you

who commits all manner of crimes

go to die?

You're such ignorant.

I won't argue with you.

Let me tell you.

Although I am a Scholar,

I will pass the Imperial Examinations.

When I become successful one day,

you are too far behind to catch up with me.

It's useless to talk with you.

You're right.

You know

Scholar is outstanding enough.

A man who passes the Imperial Examinations will be more outstanding.

See

Scholar Xu is such a shameless Scholar

because he left his wife in pursuit of wealth.

You are disdained by many gentlemen.

But you never give up his pursuit.

Now you come to Shuixi to make troubles.

You're really something!

You can pass the examination.

Absolutely you can do it.

You are cursing me.

You got it?

Right.

I was cursing you.

What's the matter?

Ye Xiaotian!

I...

I...

You wanna have a verbal struggle or a force fight?

Come on! I'm waiting for you!

Are you two

going to fight in front of the examination compound?

Aren't you afraid that your grades will be cancelled?

You're totally ignorant.

I won't argue with you.

Let me tell you.

You're not qualified to pass the examination.

So what you can do is to resign yourself to your fate.

But I am different from you.

I have a great future.

I won't ruin myself

even if you curse me like that.

Right.

I must persuade you.

From now on, you'd better worship Buddha every day.

Just pray that when I become an official

you're lucky enough to stay away from me.

Or

I'm going to make you

beg for death.

You scare me a lot!

He is coming out!

My master,

you're coming out.

Do you do well in the exam?

It's just

a little exam.

No need to shout.

It's quite easy for me

to pass the Imperial Examinations.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Mr. Xu.

Please do not blame me.

I am crying with joy.

In virtue of your ability,

you will definitely pass the exam.

My bro, I'm too thoughtful.

The 3-day exam is over.

You have undergone a complete change!

I have already prepared some drink

to cheer you up.

You're so kind. Mr. Li.

Please.

You first.

He is coming out!

People are looking for

the one they are concerned.

My mademoiselle, Mr. Ye is coming out.

Isn't this the beautiful fairy Yingying?

You're here to pick me up?

I 'm not.

I just happened to pass by.

You happened to pass by

and meet with me.

Why don't we go home together?

Let's go.

Yingying.

What happened?

Tell me.

Who makes you angry?

Just tell me.

Tell me.

Who makes you angry?

Just tell me.

I'll teach him a lesson for you.

It's you!

Me?

What did I do?

Fine.

Wait for me.

Yingying, I'm dead.

Get up!

You're so childish.

Get up!

See? You are smiling.

How beautiful you are when you smile.

Let's go home.

Big brother.

I miss you so much.

You're too much.

Why are you so late?

Because of Yunfei.

He dragged me down.

None of my business.

Keep quiet, okay?

Well.

Today I'm going to cook

a table of delicacies.

Let's have fun

and celebrate for me.

Let's go.

Great-grandfather.

Ning'er comes back.

It seems

she is unhappy.

As you said,

Ning'er

really goes in for Ye Xiaotian.

I'm afraid so.

I don't understand how good this boy is.

She likes him so deeply.

It doesn't matter that you can't understand.

But

you can't defame him.

Just remember.

A man must have some excellent personality

if he can find favor in girl's eyes.

If you don't understand,

you have a poor eyesight.

Yes.

Actually I kind of respect Ye Xiaotian

He is perseverant.

It is said that

he is going to take the imperial examination .

Yes, great-grandfather.

It is a convention that the Sect Leader of the Voodo Sect to travel around.

But now he wants to be an official.

This is the first time in a thousand years.

He

lies concealed in officialdom.

Great-grandfather.

I disagree with your point.

He is unwilling to be trapped in remote mountains.

Which young man would like to live in remote mountains?

If he chooses to travel around,

Ning'er will gradually forget him

if they are out of touch for a long time.

But if he becomes an official in Guizhou,

that would be bad.

Ning'er is always stubborn since she was a child.

She rarely changes her purpose.

If Ye Xiaotian

comes back in 20 years,

if he chooses to retire to remote mountains,

at that time…

The rules are all set by people.

If you are the one who sets the rules,

if there are unreasonable rules,

you will correct them, will you?
