[Episode 10]

Are you a royal guard?

Where did you get that sword?

I asked you where you got it.

What is it to you?

[Hwang Jin Ki]

Is it you?

Are you his pupil?

I'm right. You're Kim Chae Gun's pupil.

Master... you know Master?

We don't just know each other.

I happen to have a lot of interest in your master.

One life for a Buddha statue.

You should be in the Euigeumbu, kid. What are you doing here?

Do I still look like a kid to you?

I'll take care of things here, so get going.

- Master. - Get going now.

You... make sure to survive this.

That way, we can fight another round.

Were you looking for me?

What is this?

Go to the Seosomun and meet Six Ghost.

Why would I meet that awful Six Ghost?

It's been a long time, Six Ghost.

You are still a kid.

Search the outer areas thoroughly!

Yes, sir!

Today is not the day.

Baek Dae Gil...

What happened?

Why am I here?

It is cold.

I made a fire, so stay still for a moment.

Let me see your wound.

You are bleeding.

We should look at it before it gets worse.

How can you be doing this?

What do you mean?

Take no notice of me.

Please leave me alone.

Why?

Because we are enemies.

Stop now. I have even lit a fire.

The prince of a nation has gone out of his way and you ignore his goodwill?

I never asked you to do it.

Sit down.

Your bleeding is severe, so you could lose consciousness.

If you walk here smelling of blood, the wolves will eat you.

Even if you get out of the forest safely, what about the guards searching for you?

I will go for now, so you rest here.

Please stop it.

You don't know what I'm about to do.

Whatever it is...

do not do it.

I will go find some medicinal herbs.

Wait here.

You, there.

You sure came quickly.

What is this?

Water hyacinth leaves.

It's the best thing for wounds.

It must have been hard to get. Why don't you give it to her yourself?

What? Does it hurt your pride?

By the way, this is not the first time.

Who are you to speak to me so disrespectfully?

It's obvious you are younger than me.

What?

You don't have friends, do you? That's why you don't have any.

Do you think friends are possible at my position?

I can be your friend if you want.

I don't need a friend like you.

Forget it, then.

Why, you rascal...

Take good care of Dam Seo.

Don't you think you'd be better suited for the task than me?

I'm rather busy.

What are you doing?

Then do you intend on continuing to bleed?

Are you planning on staying here with me all night?

Just close your eyes and wait for a while.

It will be all over then.

65, 66...

67...

What are you doing?

I was done treating you ages ago, but you're still doing that.

Do you like the feel of my hands that much?

Stop that.

I would like to stop too.

Saying unkind things to you and pointing my knife at you.

I told myself I was doing the right thing.

Hundreds... more than 1,000 times.

But... it's just not working.

I want to stop too... now.

Then... just stop.

Why don't you kill me instead?

Then I can stop.

Do you think that I can't?

Try it... if you can.

You can't do it either.

Goodness, why is the sky so bright tonight?

The man who killed Dam Seo's father is Yi In Jwa?

Dam Seo.

It was very warm.

However, I have no right to receive that.

Please forget me.

That is my last request.

Follow us.

Do not worry.

I have no intention of taking your life.

Have you ever, even once...

opened your eyes?

Take a good look.

This is the last place I saw your father, Yi Soo.

I'm sure you still think that I killed your father.

A king does not lie, so listen very carefully.

The man who killed your father, Yi Soo, was not me.

It was the man who raised you.

Your teacher, Yi In Jwa.

He died at the hands of a man crazed by his own desires

and did not know his fate.

You need to stop being the puppet of such a man, as well.

I'm telling you to open your eyes now.

Your Majesty, His Highness Yeoning is here.

I have come to keep my promise to you, Father.

I was unable to catch the assassin.

You...

What, exactly, were you up to all night?

You have done your duty.

The assassin has already taken her last breath.

[Ghost "Gwi" - Branding of Six Ghost]

It's not that we don't know what happened

so it does not matter.

I sent a small present to Yi In Jwa.

Now, you ought to forget about that girl Dam Seo.

Father, how do you...

The man who killed your father, Yi Soo, was not me.

It was the man who raised you.

Your teacher, Yi In Jwa.

What happened with the corpse?

Six Ghost was asking such a high price.

It cost 100 nyang for a corpse that was similar to the lady.

It will fool everyone.

So, you met Kim Chae Gun?

Why didn't you give me a pledge?

I would have sharpened my blade before I went out.

It would not be much fun, then.

Do not rush things. You will meet him again.

Dam Seo.

Take a look.

That day...

Your father Yi Soo chose to die.

That was your father's conviction and belief.

Also, it must be your conviction.

No.

That is not my belief and conviction.

Also, I no longer...

will serve you, Teacher.

I will go my own way following my own beliefs and convictions.

I will follow my own path.

The king!

Dam Seo.

I am sorry.

Was Dam Seo what you gave up in order to get at the king's throat?

You could not cut the king's throat and you still ended up losing Dam Seo.

You have lost this one, my lord.

Dam Seo will not return... ever.

No, Dam Seo will realize this someday.

In this world...

there is no such thing as an eternal enemy or friend.

Your Highness.

[Choi Sukbin] What took you so long?

Mother.

What is all of this about?

We all saw what you did.

What are you saying you saw?

What you showed us all last night.

As well as the king's heart. We saw how he felt towards you.

Therefore, starting today...

all of us Noron faction ministers have come here

in order to offer strength to you.

Your Highness, will you accept our will?

Is this Father's will as well?

Your Highness, Yeoning. Did you sleep well last night?

Did you sleep well?

[Crown Prince Yoon (later to be Gyungjong)]

What is all of this?

It is repayment for your goodwill through all this time.

[Heo Baek Ki - Head Merchant] There is no other meaning behind it.

I am still weary from my travels.

Take back these gifts right this instant.

Now that Kim Chang Jib has returned, the merchants are making their moves.

The merchants are quick to calculate their moves

based on the king favoring you.

They are handling this in a sensitive manner.

If it is the merchants, Yi In Jwa will be behind them.

If that is the case, Yi In Jwa will not stand idly by.

You need to keep an eye on Yi In Jwa and the head merchant.

Yes, Your Highness.

My lord, are you inside?

My lord, the merchants are turning their backs on us.

That might be for the better.

We need to make an example at this time.

Why did you gather us here?

Yes, I heard that you've rushed over to the Noron faction's side.

You are people who stick to the side of power, so I understand.

There is no improvement in the Crown Prince's illness.

Also, you must fear Kim Chang Jib

who has risen to power after just having returned.

However...

who was it that watched over your backs this entire time?

Who is allowing you all to live in such extravagance?

It's upsetting to us to hear you speak that way.

What if we stick by the Crown Prince and he suddenly dies?

And then Yeoning becomes King?

I am sorry but I cannot follow you.

We will find our own path to live.

If that's the case...

you will have to return what I gave you.

I admit we did get help from you.

But we were the ones who saved the market and it is our fortune.

It is our land and no one, including you...

can ever touch it.

We'll be going now.

They say a frog does not remember being a tadpole.

That is the stage you are all at right now.

Then... I'll be going.

I will give you a chance.

If you all do what I say...

I will forgive you.

Please be well.

Yi... In Jwa...

Please have a gentle death.

Please... please let me live.

The die has already been cast.

Once you put your Baduk stone down, you cannot take it back.

Please spare me!

Anyone who insults me... Anyone who betrays Yi In Jwa!

Who else is there?

What is it?

It's the head merchant.

It was confirmed that he entered the Wolhyanggak.

But no one has seen him since then.

Go on.

According to sources, people say Yi In Jwa was there.

Yi In Jwa...

What brings you here at this hour, Your Highness?

What is it? Have I come to a place that I cannot enter?

What is wrong with your expression?

Are you hiding something?

Of course not.

Then... I assume I can look around.

- Search thoroughly. - Yes, sir!

We'll be going now.

Then... I'll be going.

Bring the vinegar solution that will show the blood.

Here it is.

It's blood.

What have you done here?

Yeoning?

The smell of blood does not disappear.

I am certain Yeoning will not let this go.

The head merchant has died.

The problem is not Yeoning.

It is the king.

A murder?

Murders are always happening.

It is not as if a minister has died.

This should be handled by them. Why are you looking into it?

The person behind this murder is the Crown Prince's Baduk teacher...

Yi In Jwa.

Why do you believe that?

He did not hide his true nature and was known to bribe the minister.

Those who chase after money are more quickly aware of the flow of power.

They were giving money to the Soron faction one day.

How else could they be giving money to the Noron faction the next day?

They believe the trend is in your favor.

That is why.

However...

you say that the head merchant is dead?

I could not find his body.

Father.

I would like to investigate this case.

Do not look into it.

Why would a high official of the Office of the Inspector General

look into a murder?

You may leave now.

But, Father--

I told you to leave now.

Why?

Now... I'm not the woman you're planning to marry anymore.

Do you know why I took you in as my pupil?

You take after him.

You take after a person that I know.

Who is it?

When I was younger, I met him right around your age.

He was a tiger.

We went through life and death together.

You are very much like him.

Oh... he must be a very good looking and great man.

He was a tiger among tigers.

A king among mountains.

He was like the ruler of the mountain.

I'm going to become like that too.

A tiger among tigers. A king among mountains.

A great tiger.

You do come off that way.

Isn't this place... too small now?

You should head down now.

Make sure to eat well.

Don't get into fights with people.

Day and night, be careful of swords.

All right?

Thank you, Master.

I will never forget this favor.

My life...

I will live it for you, Master.

Thank you, Master.

Thank you so much.

What kind of a man cries? How embarrassing.

Hey, the sun's going to go down. You should get going.

My lord.

You can't see?

Even with your supernatural powers, you cannot see?

Yes. Baek Dae Gil's spirit is too strong.

I can no longer see.

Like you, my lord.

My lord?

What is it?

I've gathered all the bad-tempered men.

All right.

You should get going, then.

Oh, I've got a nine!

I guess I can take all of this.

Wait, I have a 10!

Why would you get a 10 here?

Hurry up and deal the cards.

I have nines.

Oh my! I won again. I feel kind of bad.

Should we start up again?

All right, let's get going.

Let me see, let me see.

Let me take a look.

Give it a rest now.

What do you mean?

Ouch, that hurts!

Cutter can hear a needle being thread and even a card being hidden.

I told you to give it a rest.

[Hwanghae Cutter] He knows the expressions made behind him.

Of which district are you a magistrate?

The people are about to die because of this year's drought.

We have already had relief from that.

Do you think that is an excuse?

Everything has been loaded.

Wait...

Though you are a high official

you cannot take the rice for tax like that.

Where are you taking that?

I am in the position to do so.

Even so, you cannot do so without a royal command.

It is a royal command!

That man can forge anything in the world. He is a pro at card tricks.

[Joseon's Best Fraud, Gol Sa] He'd sell Joseon if he wanted to.

And this man is the one with the really bad temper.

That is nonsense!

How can you get double six two times?

- Did you manipulate the game? - Why, you!

Do you want to make a bet with me?

If I really manipulated this game, you can cut my throat.

If that's not the case, your throat is mine.

How is that?

All right.

[Ssangryuk's Six Ghost] He's as brutal as he looks.

But...

Why did you gather them all into one place?

That's what I'm curious about.

All you card sharks, you traveled a long way.

Hey.

You look much better.

An animal is now pretending to be human.

I'm not as bad as you.

Goodness, you're a bear, not a human being.

Hey, stupid. Are you done talking?

Stupid?

Why, you lowly piece of crap. Who do you think you're talking to?

Enough now.

Cutter, do you want to lose your other arm?

What?

Have you been waiting long?

It's been a long time.

Six Ghost, Gol Sa, Cutter.

Scholar Baek Myun, you're looking good.

What is this about?

I know you're all busy but it was urgent.

I had no choice.

Someone has been making the rounds at my men's gambling rooms these days.

Two, seven, adding to nine...

He has a 1 and 10.

And... a four.

Should we show our cards now?

I have a nine.

Then do I win?

I have a 1 and a 10!

I have a four.

Why don't you all stop now?

I know you're all in this trick together, but isn't this going too far?

What do you mean trick?

Who are you making accusations at?

If you don't have money, you should leave quickly.

- It's not a trick? - Of course not.

Why don't you show your cards? You might have won.

Oh... so you're not tricking me?

Oh... what!

You said it wasn't a trick.

Then, I played well thanks to you.

Gyeongsang, Busan, and Sangju. Through Jeolla, Mokpo, and Gwangju.

Even Cheongju in Chungcheong.

Three of my gambling rooms in the eight cities have fallen to his tactics.

He passed through Cheongju half a month ago.

He will arrive in Hanyang soon.

Scholar Baek Myun, the tiger has become a mouse?

What is it?

Did you call us because you're afraid of him?

What does he do?

I'm sure you all know Baek Man Geum.

I've heard rumors...

that Baek Man Geum has died.

And that you killed him.

The one who is going around my gambling rooms is not Baek Man Geum.

It is his son.

Are you looking for me?

This will be our last round.

Please place your bets on your favorite gisaeng.

Oh my! You're all placing so many bets.

You're all so generous.

Move, move.

Wow, look at that.

If you're all done placing bets, we will get started now.

Wol Hyang will toss first.

She got a "yut."

Next, it's Tang Geum.

Oh no, look at that.

Tang Geum got a "do."

For the last toss, she can't get a "mo."

And it's a "ge." That's a win for Wol Hyang.

Oh no!

Did you come to catch me?

Scholar Baek Myun?

I am...

Have you arrived?

What is this?

It's a mask.

Isn't that Scholar Baek Myun's mask?

Why are you wearing that?

We'll know once we take it off of him.

Are you Baek Man Geum's son?

I am...

a hunting dog that will rip out Yi In Jwa's throat.

Why is a hunting dog wearing Scholar Baek Myun's mask?

I was looking for you, but I did not know your face.

I thought that if I wore this mask, you would recognize me.

What did you want once you found me?

I plan to crush them all today.

Scholar Baek Myung... Yi In Jwa.

What has Baek Man Geum's son come here for?

What else?

I came to break down your gambling room.

Break it down? This gambling room?

Yes, I'm going to break them all up.

Every gambling room in all of Hanyang.

Baek Dae Gil...

Have you become a tiger now?

Why would a person become an animal?

I am just a person.

So... you plan on breaking me?

From this point on, I'm going to cut off your arms and legs.

Then I'll come for your throat.

Should we make a bet?

Whether I can do it or not.
