Episode 2

I just asked if you see them or not.

I am not asking the likeliness.

About the three people you drew on the paper,

I've never seen them.

But I have seen a pretty lady

and a handsome man

taking a cute girl with them.

Tell me.

Where are they heading for?

Well.

Give him.

Okay.

They're heading over there.

There is only one way.

We're going to arrive at Guizhou.

I have to find a chance to get rid of him.

Or, he may take me back and ask me to marry him.

What should I do then?

Is that the butler of the Yang family?

Hide.

Shh.

Good.

They are really fast.

They arrive here before us.

Brother.

What should we do now?

How about we hide in the city for a couple of days.

No.

If by any chance they ask people to hide in the city

to poke around us, what should we do then.

I think

it's safe to get out of the city.

How can we get out?

We can't walk out of this place,

nor make a break.

There is always a way out.

I'm Ye Xiaotian.

I'll figure out a plan.

What do you think?

It's sweet, right?

Bravo.

Bravo.

She is awesome.

Thank you, sister.

I've got an idea.

Servant.

Coming.

Brother,

we want two bowls of noodles.

Okay.

Please have a seat.

I will take them right here for you.

Miss Ning'er, please.

Mr. Xu, please.

Please have a seat.

He makes a bow before he speaks.

I just like

the cultivated scholar.

He is much better than

the rude men in my hometown.

Last time I heard you play the qin,

it arouse my interest in it.

I don't know

if you have time to teach me.

These things are used for cultivating your sentiment,

you can play it at will.

You said it

...right.

We feel like old friends at the first meeting.

Please don't forget to teach me

to play qin when we arrive at the Hu County.

Okay.

It's my pleasure

to teach you.

Excuse me?

Your noodles are ready.

Please enjoy yourselves.

Thank you.

Eat.

What the hell?

What's up?

Well.

You must be careless,

so I won't blame you

if only you buy me another bowl.

What are you talking about?

You are a girl.

How can you ask me to bring you a whore?

No no.

I mean you buy me another bowl.

Do you hear that?

A girl,

in broad daylight,

wants me to bring her a whore.

Is that funny?

I've never seen a girl like you.

You should get a mirror

and have a look at yourself.

I won't

bring you anything.

Miss Ning'er. Calm down.

Get away!

You dare to play me!

Miss Ning'er.

Mr. Xu.

-How do you fall onto the ground? -I'm okay.

It's okay.

Wait for me.

I'll be right back.

Miss Ning'er.

Stop.

Stop.

Come over.

Stop.

Stop.

Stop.

Old man.

I have helpers.

It's Ye Xiaotian.

Hey.

I have helpers.

Come on.

Fight.

Don't run.

Stop.

Let me tell you.

They are really capable.

Let's go.

I will be sorry.

If I have the chance,

I will repay you for your kindness.

Hey.

You don't need to fight so hard.

What's your relations with Ye Xiaotian?

I want to kill him.

I want to kill him, too.

I...my whole family wants to kill him.

Ye...Ye Xiaotian.

We've been fooled.

We've been fooled.

Ye Xiaotian?

How dare you fool me around?

Hurry.

Hurry.

Sister.

Why do we have to be in such a hurry?

Shouldn't we wait for brother?

We won't wait for him.

He will take me back to his home

and marry me.

If I leave you alone,

who will take you to Tongren?

We will arrive at Guizhou soon.

Just forget him.

Sister.

I'm exhausted.

Are...you tired?

What to do now?

Alright.

On my back. Get on my back.

Oh my God.

You are so heavy.

It's obvious that you are not strong enough.

I can't do it.

Yaoyao, get down.

You are so heavy.

Why are you running so fast?

I almost lost you although I was hurry all the way.

Rest assured.

I have got rid of them.

You are so awesome!

Brother, you are so awesome!

Awesome!

Yaoyao, let's go.

You three want to go to Tongren?

Then you must pass the Hu County first.

But I still want to advise you

to stay in the town

till a caravan passes by,

then you can go with them.

Otherwise,

it' not safe to travel in the mountains

for several days.

Thank you, bro.

It's okay.

What should we do now?

We could do nothing

instead of staying here for a couple of days.

When a caravan passes by,

we can go with them.

Otherwise,

it's too dangerous

for the three of us to walk in mountains.

But we have no money to find an inn.

We even don't have money to have meals.

How do you know

that?

Let's go.

Have you finished it yet?

According to your palm,

you are lack of something according to the five elements theory.

What's wrong with my five elements?

What am I lack of?

You are...

lack of money, right?

It's obvious.

Then tell me you time of birth.

I know an accurate Western method of face reading.

I will make a detailed analysis for you.

Why should I tell you that?

You are going to marry me.

I will know that sooner or later.

Who told you I will marry you?

You palm tells me.

Come in.

Sir.

I have some news for what you asked to do.

No caravans will go to the Hu County recently,

but,

I've heard that an official is going there.

He will pass by here.

An official?

Has he arrived here?

Yes, he has.

I heard that he is surnamed Ai

and will take office there as the Judicial Clerk.

I want to meet him.

Please.

Master Ai.

This is Mr. Ye.

He stays here too.

Master Ai.

I heard that you will take office at the Hu County.

Congratulations!

Here is the thing.

My two sisters are with me now.

We are going to Tongren.

And we will pass by the Hu County.

You know what?

From here to the Hu County,

we have to travel in the mountains for a couple of days.

I wonder if you could take the three of us with you

since you are so kind.

Are you going to the Hu County?

That's right.

Alright.

I will set out tomorrow morning.

You should get ready in advance.

Thank you, my lord.

You are so kind and generous.

I wish you to get promoted and a great future.

Brother,

I want to take a leak.

Let me accompany her.

I will go with you

in case that a snake scares you.

I'm going to tell Lord Ai.

Wait me here.

Okay.

I'll be right back.

Lord Ai.

Lord Ai. My sister want to take a leak.

We'll catch up with you soon.

You can go.

I will wait for you at the turning.

Thank you.

It's safe here.

Yaoyao. I have checked this place.

There are no snakes.

You can take a leak here.

We will wait for you over there.

If anything happens,

you can call us at any time.

Go.

Let's go.

Father.

Are you really a secret spy of the Imperial Guard?

That's true.

I am a dragon-hiding secret spy of the Imperial Guard?.

Flying dragons are in the sky and hidden dragons are in deep waters.

They are the most capable divisions of the Imperial Guards.

It was founded by Lord Xia Xun

during the Yongle era.

Yun, we dragon-hiding secret spy carry on

from father to son

and generation to generation.

I'm old now.

So you are going to

succeed my mission sooner or later.

Father.

Who are we going to pick up?

Not pick up but meet.

The Ministry of War sent people here

to investigate the case about the loss of the military defense map.

Lord Yu from the Imperial Guards ordered us

to cooperate with them to solve the case.

Father, look.

Son, you stay here.

I'm going to save him.

Father.

You are "the Bees"?

Good eye!

Go.

Come back!

Sister, I'm back.

Shhh.

Father.

Let them go.

Task finished.

Leave.

Father, who are these people?

Thieves come and go without leaving a trace.

But,

this is just one of their identities.

I guess

they are sent by that man

to the east.

Father, there are survivors.

We'd better leave here.

We have to leave here soon.

You mean we leave them here?

When we arrive at the Hu County,

we can report to the county magistrate,

he will send people to take care of them.

We shouldn't just let them lie here.

What if animals come over

and eat them all?

Well, you mean

we should bury them, don't you?

Right.

Lord Ai was so kind to us

that he took us along with him.

How can you just leave him here?

There are so many bodies.

I just have one pair of hands.

Do you know how long it will take?

Come on!

Buddies.

You were so unlucky today

that you were killed by thieves here.

I don't want leave your bodies in the wild,

so I temporarily bury your bodies here.

When I report the case to the feudal government,

they will make arrangements for a funeral.

Amitabha.

Amitabha.

Amitabha.

We've suffered a lot along the way.

It's lucky that you have me, Ye Xiaotian,

or you must have suffered

more than 700 to 800 times.

I don't believe it.

Let's go. Yaoyao. Go with me.

Wolf.

Wolf wolf wolf.

Wolf wolf wolf.

Let me tell you.

I'm Ye Xiaotian,

if you don't leave now,

your life will be risky.

Okay, it is leaving.

You are so timid.

In the future, I, Ye Xiaotian,

will protect the two of you.

You can drag my clothes.

Let's go.

Here we are at last.

It's true that

the Hu County is bustling.

I thought it was impoverished and desolate.

You are so green and inexperienced.

Tongren is more bustling than here.

Why do they dress like this?

It is a so good place!

I guess,

we could say, in heaven there is paradise, on earth the Hu County.

Pervert!

What are you doing?

She is jealous.

Thanks for you care along the way.

Or I couldn't

have successfully got home from afar.

I wonder

if your parents are at home or not.

Can I pay them a visit?

Well, I have left home for several years

and just come back.

If you go home with me,

I'm afraid

they would think

that I just fooled around

these years.

Can you...

Don't feel embarrassed.

I have nothing to do anyway.

How about I stay here

and visit your home

when you think

it's proper?

Okay.

Boyi.

You are back!

Please behave yourself.

Please behave yourself.

Tao Tao.

Although we have engaged years ago,

we still don't get married.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

It's my fault.

Come. Are you tired?

Come and seat down.

Have a cup of water.

I've left home for several years.

Have you been keeping my house tidy these years?

Your parents passed away for a long time.

There are no people left in your family.

You left home for years.

If no one keeps it tidy,

it will be inhabitable.

Anyway,

anyway we will get married sooner or later.

I take your home as mine.

I think

it's proper for me to keep it tidy.

Here.

Drink some water.

Master Gu.

I'm here.

The exam held once per three years is coming.

Have you made any achievements

in culture and education you take charge of.

My lord.

I am going to report you

that instructors, superintendent and

teachers of six subjects in our county

haven't received their wages for two months.

Secretary Wang,

you take charge of taxes of the County.

You tell me why was that.

About the taxes.

That of the whole province can't compete with that of one county in Jiangnan.

It's not strange that we can't collect all the taxes.

If we make it, that would be strange.

We have little money

in the repository.

You are so capable of

making excuses. I admire you, Secretary Wang.

County Magistrate Assistant Meng.

You take charge of the security of the County.

I heard that students often fight each other,

can you explain that?

The local people are hot tempered.

That's our tradition.

If you think I am incapable as the County Magistrate Assistant,

you can take my place.

Do you think I can't take your place?

He is so...

Alright. Stop that.

You said you...

Stop it!

Everybody, stop quarrelling.

Hurry.

Capture!

Checkmate!

Excuse me?

Checkmate!

Excuse me?

Don't talk when you watch a game.

Checkmate.

You are so bold.

Why did you beat the drum since you don't lodge a charge?

My lord.

I beat the drum to report a case.

Report a case?

What case?

Well. Here is the thing.

I have buried their bodies

because I don't want to leave them in the wild.

That boy.

He is so young.

When encountering big changes,

he even could manage the whole thing calmly.

You're so good.

Really good.

You...

Here, my lord.

Take him away

and treat him well.

Yes, my lord.

My lord. I...

You should hit the road

after having a good meal.

Hitting the road again?

This way please.

Alright.

County Magistrate Assistant Meng.

Secretary Wang.

And everyone here.

Your happy days

will end up today.

Screwed!

We all screwed.

In fact,

we still have a way out.

Do you have any ideas?

He's already dead.

Can you make him come back to life?

I just want to make him come back to life.

My lords.

I have finished my task.

Can I leave now?

The official was murdered in our county

and the murderer is still on the run.

Now we can't bring him to justice and punish him as a warning to others.

Therefore, we ask you to help us.

I'm not an official,

nor a cavalier.

How can I help you with that?

We have investigated the scene.

Judicial Clerk Ai didn't lose his belongings.

It's obvious that the murderers were not greedy for money

but for revenge.

That's bullshit.

I took all of his belongings.

I guess the three old men

are plotting something.

And what they are plotting is

to get me involved into it.

If the murderers want to kill Judicial Clerk Ai,

we can induce them out.

If only he shows his lips,

we can get him arrested.

So,

we want you to

pretend to be Judicial Clerk Ai,

you and him are at the similar age and

you come from the Capital City.

What's more, no one recognize you here.

We will leak the secret

that Judicial Clerk Ai was attacked on his way here.

He survived from the assassination

but all his followers were killed.

In this way,

no one will doubt about your identity.

You can walk around as Judicial Clerk Ai.

If those murderers heard about that,

they would think they failed to kill you,

they will come back.

Rest assured.

We will protect you in the dark.

You won't get hurt.

Alright. If you make it,

we will give you 500 taels.

How much?

500 taels. What do you think?

500 taels?

I won't do that.

Pretending to be an official breaks the law.

I won't do it.

You are so bold.

I'm not negotiating with you.

I'm commanding you to cooperate with us.

My lord, calm down.

Calm down.

Nod your head. 500 taels is a big sum of money.

Right.

I don't agree.

We don't want to force you to do it.

But you are the only witness of the case.

Before we solve the case,

he couldn't leave here.

Why?

Shift Leader Li Yuncong.

Here.

Ye Xiaotian is an important witness of the case,

you should keep close eye on him.

Don't let him out

until the case is solved.

Yes, my lord.

Why do they keep us here?

They are so unreasonable.

Alright, stop nagging.

I'm thinking of a way.

They took our traffic permit away.

What ideas can you have?

We don't have anything to eat or drink.

I have a secret weapon.

Look.

We still have some money.

It's enough for us to stay here for over ten days,

or maybe enough for us

to get married and

give birth to a son here.

Ye Xiaotian.

You are here!

None of your business.

Give it to me.

Give you what?

Silver.

You work here

but do a part time job as robbers, don't you?

The case is not solved till now.

We don't know where you get the money.

We will give it back

when the case is entirely cleared.

What if I don't give it to you?

You don't?

It hurts.

Can you be a little gentle?

Then it can't be clean.

You can't be so rude.

Are you going to murder your husband?

You didn't win them.

Now we are screwed.

They took our traffic permit and money.

We will starve to death tomorrow.

I...

They have weapons.

Two rulers.

You just know how to play fox.

I still can hear you.

Playing fox is not bad.

Or you will suffer more.

Do you feel sorry for me?

I don't.

Why are you blushing?

You care about me, don't you?

Alright, I will do it myself.

Look at you!

You didn't do much work, but you always feel hungry.

Okay. I am hungry.

Do you have more?

Where did you get them?

When those bad men

treated us in the daytime,

I hide some.

You're so good, Yaoyao.

You've learned a lot from me.

Only two?

I suddenly feel not that hungry.

You just have it.

I want to share it with you.

Say, good luck, my lord.

Silly bird.

Don't pull a long face all day long.

About the bodies of Judicial Clerk Ai and his followers,

I have asked people to bury them deeper.

Please rest assured.

No matter how big a flash flood will be,

his body won't be washed out.

Has Ye Xiaotian promised to pretend to be Judicial Clerk Ai?

We have sent so many people there,

we can't hide it for a long time.

Even if Ye Xiaotian nods later,

it will be useless.

Rest assured.

Just wait for another three to five days.

In three to five days,

I promise to make him nod.

What are you looking at?

I'm not looking at you.

I'm going out to find a job.

You two stay here, okay?

How about I go with you?

No need.

You are going to marry me.

You will be my wife.

I won't let you go out to work for life.

As a man, it's my duty.

You just stay at home and have a rest.

You have a lot of nerve.

I haven't promised to marry you.

Brother.

Can you really earn some money?

Sure.

I'm the most capable.

We'll have a big meal tonight.

Bravo.

Boy, just figure it out.

I'm warning you.

You'd better obey my lord.

That's right.

I'm telling you.

You know what?

Beggars can't be choosers.

Father, there are survivors.

Mother, I'm back,

Son, you're back.

Have you got all herbs?

Yes.

Go take care of your father.

I'm going to boil it for him.

Look at your clothes.

Father, do you feel better?

I'm fine.

I saw one of the survivors on the scene

when I bought herbs for you in the town.

You mean that young man?

Also the woman and the girl.

They may just pass by.

Ai Feng was from the Ministry of War.

He arrived here as the Judicial Clerk

to find out the military defense map.

He wouldn't take woman and child with him.

That's so strange.

I just saw

he was followed by two shift leaders today.

Shift leaders?

Shift leaders.

You keep a close eye on him.

I guess

he may have some connections with the case.

Okay.

I have worked for a whole day

but got nothing.

They are waiting for me.

I even talked big before getting out.

It's okay.

I'll figure it out.

What is it?

What do you...

Don't move.

Brat!

You never expect to meet me again

when you fooled me around that day, didn't you?

You are

Ye Xiaotian?
