Doctor, the patient is awake!

Is she?

How do you feel?

You're Lee Shin-hee, right?

Fortunately, you don't seem to have severe injuries,

but we'll have to take x-rays and a CT just to be sure

- Are you feeling any discomfort? - No...

- Here... - Hm...

- Are you Lee Shin-hee? - What? Yes

Was Lee Ja-young driving?

The one who sat next to you!

Lee Ja-young was driving, right?

Yes

But...

Hyon-woo and Ja-young... what happened to them?

Jung Hyon-woo is in critical condition

and Lee Ja-young is in a vegetative state

We'll have to keep her under observation,

but right now, it doesn't look good

Sis!

What on earth happened?

- Are you okay? - What happened?

Are you badly hurt?

Let me see Are you all right?

I think she's in shock

So why did you let Ja-young drive? They said she drove!

How are Hyon-woo and Ja-young? Are they badly hurt?

My baby is in a vegetative state? What is the meaning of this?

- Mom, calm down - Ja-young!

You mustn't do this There are other patients here

- Please go outside - Go outside

Please go outside, mom

Ja-young!

Hyon-woo! It's Mom Open your eyes! Hyon-woo...

Dear, what are we going to do about Hyon-woo?

Let's go outside He needs complete rest

I should've opposed it to the end

If it hadn't been for her, this wouldn't have happened

I should've opposed it to the end! Hyon-woo...

Mom, calm down!

Let's go

What am I going to do?

Mom, calm down

Mom!

I didn't know the way,

so I was looking for a map

I didn't see the pedestrian and I hit him so...

Then... you did the driving?

I thought...

Ja-young and Hyon-woo were both dead

So you told the police that Ja-young drove?

Before the police arrived,

I moved Ja-young to the driver's seat

Thinking that she was dead...

Your faces flashed before my eyes, so...

I don't know why I did that either

Do you know what will happen

if Hyon-woo, Ja-young,

or even the man who got hit dies?

Do you know what you've done?

I want to tell them now I'll tell them that I drove

The doctor wants the guardians in his office

You go...

In Jung Hyon-woo's case, the impact from being ejected from the car

caused a fracture in his cervical vertebrae and a cerebral hemorrhage

Fortunately, we won't need to operate,

but we'll have to keep him under observation

If he doesn't need surgery, does it mean he's all right?

We'll have to wait for him to regain consciousness first

Even if he does come to, I can't promise you that he'll return

to the way he was before the accident

In Lee Shin-hee's case,

she received a sprained cervical vertebrae and a chest contusion

Fortunately, she didn't sustain serious injuries

She can be released in a few days

Yes...

In the case of the driver, Lee Ja-young,

a cerebral hemorrhage, a right collar bone fracture

and second and ninth right rib fractures

At this time, there's no hope of her regaining consciousness

But the good news is,

although she's weak, she's breathing on her own

Then there's some hope, right? Doctor...?

Well, I can't make promises, but I'll do my best

I can't believe it

After she received approval for her marriage,

she was so happy...

I thought good things would happen for her now, but...

Vegetative state... my Ja-young?

She's only practiced once or twice, so why did she drive?

I don't know She's not that irresponsible

She's not, is she?

She wouldn't drive Shin-hee's car that late at night

It's very frustrating,

but we have to wait until Ja-young wakes up and tells us

How's the pedestrian?

He's also in critical condition...

I'll have to go see him tomorrow

Dad...

What'll happen if I confess?

It's too late

What?

Why?

N. S Lee Shin-hee

Even if Ja-young stays in that condition,

the victim and Hyon-woo are in critical condition,

so if either one should die,

you'll be charged with involuntary manslaughter

I've spent twenty-odd years of my political life

working towards running for mayor

Even if no one dies,

if the public finds out that you drove and switched seats,

my life is over!

Then what do you want us to do?

There's no use crying over spilt milk!

Then...

We can't change this situation

We have to take this secret to our graves!

The driver...

was Ja-young

My husband is a gas heater specialist

It got cold, so he was bombarded with work...

He was on his way home from work...

I'm so sorry

My son has four dependents

But he's teetering between life and death

We're so sorry

My sister is in a vegetative state, too

But don't think she's off the hook

Even if the owner of the car compensates us,

I'm going to get money from the driver

Compensate...?

Someone came by this morning saying that

the owner of the car must provide compensation

He said not to worry about medical expenses

But that's the least of my problems when my husband is dying!

Where's Mr. Kim's family?

Here. What's wrong?

Come right now

Hello?

What?

Yes, I understand

What is it?

Who was that?

The man you hit just died

You have to be strong There's no turning back now

So you have to be tough

to avoid suspicion

Even if Hyon-woo's parents think that Ja-young drove,

they aren't saying anything now because she's in that condition

If they find out that it was you, would they go away quietly?

It'll be over for all of us Do you understand what I'm saying?

You got that?

Ja-young, it's me, Eun-shil Open your eyes

Why are you and Hyon-woo lying here?

Ja-young, say something It's me, Eun-shil!

Ja-young, say something

Why are you lying here with Hyon-woo?

Ja-young!

Farewell drinks are for people saying good-bye

When you come to the States, we're going to meet again

Be strong, Dad

I was hoping that he'd live, but...

There's no way Ja-young did that!

Something is just not right

I can't believe that Ja-young drove

Even if the owner of the car assumes some responsibility,

isn't it odd that someone came out so fast

to discuss compensation?

What if Ja-young is

being framed for manslaughter?

You go first I want to look into things

- Okay - Okay

With such solid evidence, what can we do?

There was nothing strange at the scene?

No, nothing

Besides, we had no mind to look for anything strange

Both women were alive,

so we had to rush them to the hospital

Think very carefully

My sister wouldn't drive someone's car

Until she wakes up,

we can't investigate anything

Lee Shin-hee is the car's owner,

so she bears the burden of compensation

If you're not satisfied, inspect the car

You scrapped the car? But the investigation isn't over yet!

Why did you scrap the car?

What are you talking about?

We only acted on the owner's request

Yes?

Young-chul What is it?

How are you doing?

It hurts here and there, you know...

I have something to ask you

What's that?

Why did Ja-young drive?

Did you ask her to?

No!

She said I was drunk and she insisted on driving

I've already told the police!

You met in front of a cafe in Apkujungdong?

Then she drove from there to the Pochun Highway?

I drove part of the way

You said you drank

I was sober,

but she said it wasn't a busy road

and wanted to drive...

So you let her drive?

She has very little driving experience

What is this?

Did Ja-young really drive?

What?

All her injuries are on her right side If she drove,

shouldn't she have hit her chest on the steering wheel

and sprained her neck... like you?

What are you saying? Get out

Get out right this minute! Get out!

What's going on?

Shin-hee, what's wrong?

Why did you scrap the car already?

The investigation isn't over yet!

Young-chul!

The kids were all injured in that car, so why keep it?

I felt uneasy, so I had them scrap it

You can't scrap it before the investigation is over

Young-chul...

Shin-hee's still in a state of shock

Let's talk outside!

I understand how you feel

Considering Ja-young's personality, it must be hard to believe that she drove

That's right!

But Shin-hee's in shock and needs rest,

so you can't accuse her without proof

Because the victim died,

from our position, we wanted a thorough investigation

What's there to investigate?

When Ja-young wakes up, the truth will come out

We don't have peace of mind either

It was Shin-hee's car and...

Considering your situation, I'll take care of the compensation

and Ja-young's medical expenses...

To be honest, I don't believe that Ja-young drove

Aren't you going too far?

How dare you!

You wanted to say something

Let's...

- move - What?

Start looking for a place

What do you mean "move"?

Is it because you feel ashamed to face Assemblyman Lee?

- But, how can... - Let's move!

Why are you screaming?

I know I'm foolish to leave after my daughter's been hurt,

but I won't live here anymore!

Even if it's a studio, find a vacant place

Because of the guilt I feel toward Ja-young,

I can't stay here another day

I heard you were in shock, too

They said you needed rest, so I didn't visit

What happened?

Why did you let Ja-young drive?

I'm sorry

I shouldn't have let her, but...

I'm sorry

How is Hyon-woo?

We're moving him to another hospital, a big hospital in Seoul

If he's moved, what's going to happen to him?

We have to make him better somehow

He means the world to me I can't let my son go on this way

I'd rather die in his place then let him die

Is it safe, right?

Sure! No problem

- Anything else? - None!

Let's go

Mom, give it to me

- Let's get going - Okay

Sir, let's go!

In any case, we escaped from the basement,

so Ja-young will be happy when she comes home

Even if the place is worse than this,

if Ja-young can walk inside, I'll have no regrets

Of course she's going to walk in

No, I think she's going to run in

- Let's unload - Yes

Ja-young's family isn't here, so don't worry

It was you who drove

Why did you go down there for?

Where did they go?

I don't know... They didn't say anything about where they were going

They just said good-bye and left

Take your medicine and lie down

The aftereffects of an accident are even more scary

Sis, what's this? It came for you. Look

Congratulations on your discharge

Give me that

There is a present

LEE SHIN-HEE, you were the driver!

What do we do?

Go and hear what he has to say

By myself?

What if I go and it's someone from my opponent's side?

If he brings a reporter, it could be a trap

Take the chauffeur

You're meeting at a big restaurant, so there won't be an incident

Welcome

- Are you alone? - Yes

This way, please

Welcome

You've become quite patient

I guess the new chauffeur doubles as a bodyguard, too

Park Seung-jae... it was you?

You were released sooner than I expected

You weren't hurt too badly?

What happened?

I owe it all to your father

Your father hired a few thugs to beat me up

and mentioned my family back home to threaten me

To be honest, in a way, I was afraid, but it also made me cocky

So I started following you

To get something you and your father couldn't squirm out of

And one day, you were meeting someone unexpected

Lee Shin-hee meeting with Lee Ja-young...?

You seemed to be intoxicated, but you drove

It gave me a hunch that something I'd been expecting might happen

I waited to see if you'd confess, but you're incredible

No, your father is even more incredible

What is it that you want?

What do I want?

Team captain of marketing, is that it?

Would that be enough? Your dad's position as mayor is at stake

Then what else do you want besides being team captain?

Drink

Thank you for the gifts you sent last time

I told them to talk some sense into you,

but I guess they caused you trouble

This is a gift Of course, it's not the original

Should a questionable accident happen to me,

a copy of the tape will be sent to the media

and the governing party

That goes for my mother and brother, too

You're using this tape as blackmail and you want me to let you marry Shin-hee?

If you were me, pressured by blackmail,

would you give up your daughter?

I'm sorry I had to use this method, but I love Shin-hee

I believe that I have talent

But no one gave me an opportunity

In exchange for helping Shin-hee, I asked her for a job

I needed an opportunity to show off my talents

You were always interested in Shin-hee?

That's why you used any means?

For someone who's benefited from his rich in-laws,

I think that you'd understand me

Appointing you, an inexperienced man,

to the position of team captain is extreme

I'll appoint you as the assistant team captain

And after you've gained some experience,

I'll promote you to team captain What do you think?

Very well

But not marriage

You wanted to show me your talents

Then show me your talents first

Pardon?

I've bought some time, so for now,

keep him happy

He is not one to be lightly dismissed

What if he keeps blackmailing us?

Don't get impatient! The impatient one loses

You're not going to let Sis marry him, are you?

Even if she's a black sheep, no parent wants his child harmed

Everyone do as I say!

I'll take care of the rest!

What can you do to a blackmailer?

After the election, I'll have to find a way

He's the team captain

It's a pleasure

Starting today, he'll be working with you

He's the new assistant team captain, Park Seung-jae

How do you do? My name is Park Seung-jae

Nice to meet you

Nice to meet you

It's a pleasure

- What's going on? - What do you mean?

What company gives out the title of assistant team captain,

a car and a condo on the first day?

- I'll get you a position soon - Don't bother

I'm just glad I don't have to heat water to wash every morning

- Your room is over there - Okay

The bed is already in there, so take a look

What's really going on?

Just safeguard what I gave you!

I left it at work like you told me to, but what is it?

It's a magic key

Aren't you going to look at the room?

Can I look, too?

- What are you doing here? - What do you mean?

You might be my future husband,

so I have to know how you're living

It's not a threat, it's a deal

Raise sales one hundred percent until you graduate...

That's the condition your father attached

I'm sure he attached that condition thinking that I can't achieve it

But that's a mistake I'm going to do it

If he doesn't keep his promise, I'll have no mercy

Don't make me laugh Don't you think you'll get arrested?

Of course not

I'm going to use an anonymous name

Even you, someone who killed one and injured two others,

are walking around like this, because there's no evidence

You scumbag!

And give this to your father It's a present from me

- And what is this? - Listen to it

Why, you... You don't trust me?

I said you can marry Shin-hee when she graduates

Of course, you have to work hard, but...

In order to become the mayor,

knowing that your daughter drove while intoxicated

and switched drivers after the accident, you covered it up

I had no other choice

Hey! Where are you going so early?

To the station

The doctor said to rest for two months

Someone else took over your job

I'll go see if there is anything else

I should work I can't sit still

She can't pull herself together

She's not sleeping well either

- Hello - Long time no see

- Hello - Hello!

Hi

- Hello, Director - Shin-hee!

Are you all right?

Yes, I'm better now, so I can work

Really?

That's why I came to see you Is there something I can do?

- Well... - Director... please?

we'd like to introduce

sweet and dreamy movies

She's getting more popular by the day

Let's introduce Lee Shin-hee

- Hello - Hello

Hello, this is Lee Shin-hee

Today, I've assembled scenes

where a leading actress confesses her love only to get rejected

I guess we're in for tragic scenes

I can't tell you that

I took that as a yes

Me, too

I'll leave that to your imagination

Now, let's view

the touching scenes together

Chasing Character!

I guess I'll have to go home alone again

In two months, sales went up thirty percent compared to last year

The scheme for the brown rice drink was right on

I heard that was your idea

Yes! So I plan to change advertising firms

Switching to an innovative young firm...

Shin-hee, why aren't you eating?

I'm not hungry

How can she have any appetite?

Did you give your boyfriend chocolate?

So immature... Did you get chocolate from your girlfriend?

I'm sure Shin-hee will give it to me later

Here is noodle

- Are you done? - Yes, we close at eleven

Where's your dad and mom?

He went to see Ja-young Visiting hours are limited

Is she still the same? I haven't seen her in a long while

I'm so upset

I'm so frustrated and angry And being powerless makes me sad

Let's wait!

Assemblyman Lee is still doing well?

You know how it is...

Isn't this tough?

It can't be tough already

We're going to get established and refuse money for Ja-young's medical expenses

Okay, work hard

- Stop drinking - None of your business

I'm not married to you yet

Are you that nervous?

Months have passed, so why are you so nervous?

There are two people that can wake up anytime to expose me,

so wouldn't you be nervous?

But then, even if I'm exposed, you won't really care

At least you've gained a condo

Don't look at me like that

I already feel pathetic

for saying these things to you

Exactly what are you afraid of? Hyon-woo waking up?

What if Hyon-woo dies...? And what if he wakes up?

What if Ja-young wakes up?

I'm going to lose my mind

You...

Why do you doing this?

Why do you keep doing this?

Every day is hellish for me, too

Why are you doing this?

Mom, what if Ja-young wakes up?

- What if Hyon-woo wakes up? - Don't say that

My heart is trembling

I'm so scared that Ja-young and Hyon-woo

might wake up

It was okay in the beginning, but even as time passes, they don't die

How can you say that?

No, I'm scared that they might die Then I'd be their killer

But I'm scared that they might live Then I'd have to die

My life will be over

Shin-hee...

Either way, I'm scared I'm so scared

A general election is...

You have a visitor

Ja... Ja-young

How could you do that to me?

You're the one who drove

- What are you talking about? - You drove

You're the driver!

No... no!

Tell the truth Say that you drove

She might get bed sores

It'll be spring and summer soon

Ask the nurse to take good care of her

It's all my fault...

Sit up and yell at me

I have too many things to apologize to you for

- What happened to Hyon-woo? - What?

The son of Jaesung Group's owner

I haven't heard since he was moved

How can I dare go look in on him?

But at one time,

we thought of him as Ja-young's husband-to-be

To be honest with you,

I don't know if he will make it through the night

What?

- You are toiled - You, too

You did it

You did it!

- Shin-hee! - Shin-hee!

- What's wrong? - Shin-hee!

Shin-hee

Park Seung-jae speaking

What?

There's no one at Shin-hee's house

and she refuses to go to the hospital

So come right away Hurry!

It's all right

What's the matter with you?

I think I should confess

What?

- I keep seeing her - Seeing whom?

I see her during the day, and the night, and I see her in my dreams

- I keep seeing her - Who?

She keeps appearing... Ja-young

Hello?

Hi Did you find out?

Lee Ja-young's still in a vegetative state,

and Jung Hyon-woo's not doing well

They said he has no hope

Are you certain she's brain dead?

Really? Okay

- I'm sorry - What's your problem?

Hey!

Doctor, it's an emergency!

What?

You're Ja-young's mother, right? Hurry!

Who let this slip out?

It was out when I got here

Did you do it?

No, why would I do that?

Go get the crash cart

Doctor, please save my baby

Dad!

Ja-young, what are you doing here?

Get up, you have to come with me

Come with me

No, try it one more time

Please save my daughter

I can't let her go this way...

I guess you're not fully conscious yet

You drove from the midway You wanted to

I really didn't drive

some people believe

that they didn't drive due to the shock of the accident

Why does the photo show that I drove?

If this is your attitude, I'm going to pursue the truth until the end

Are you angry that I tried to kill Ja-young?

I don't think so

No, I'm upset that she woke up

If you hadn't pulled out her tube, she wouldn't have woken up

And I shouldn't be scared that Hyon-woo might be wake up

Wake up, Hyon-woo

You said you'd stay by my side forever

Shin-hee
