They made it all the way
to the finals in maryland,

but got rained out.

Ryan: After looking at radar, I
don't think this is gonna stop,

so I think we have to agree
to finish this in new hampshire,

so if you're good with it
and you agree, we'll figure out

all the rest of the details
in the next couple weeks.

and they are
the last race tonight.

That will amp up the pressure on
them during their grudge race.

The atmosphere conditions is
different at every place

we go to, so getting it tuned
and getting it right

is tricky as much as we're
traveling all across the u.S.,

so making a couple grudge races
tells us what to do.

As long as we beat the 405.

night, the 405 banded together

and decided
to only race each other

to keep all the info about
their passes to themselves.

Azn: While texas
raced some people

who weren't on their team,

eventually texas adopted
the same strategy,

but it was later
in the night.

And that doesn't mean
they'll stick to that tonight.

[ cheers and applause ]

superstar racer lizzy musi
is here to race tonight,

and she and her boyfriend,
kye kelley,

are running the same setup,

both powered
by pat musi engines.

Pat musi is one of the most
legendary engine builders

in drag racing.

Everyone knows that a musi
engine packs some serious power.

So, lizzy, you're gonna be
racing this time, right?

- We did some testing in virginia,

and the car is running
pretty stout,

so we're pretty thrilled
to run it here at this event.

I got birdman first round.
- Uh-huh.

And it was supposed to be
lil country second round,

so we'll see if we can
get that race in.

The race I'm excited to see

That was not a good race
for either of those drivers.

Birdman lost control
on the big end

and missed the wall by inches

because he pulled
his chutes.

That's a move that you'll see
a lot of racers

try if they're
getting out of shape.

Pulling the chutes
can slow you down quickly

and straighten out the car.

Anyone watching that pass
is probably thinking

about taking power
out of their car

before they make a pass.

Or installing
a third parachute.

and birdman both struggled
to make clean passes,

A few years back, team nola

who tried us.

he has to race none other

to finish off the main event
from maryland.

to get a grudge race

to see how he's stacking up,

but with the 405 strategy
of only racing each other,

he won't get that chance.

Instead, he's lined up a race
against rich bruder

in the vixen,
and he's no joke.

And after this race, we're gonna
have a spelling contest

to see who can spell
giuseppe gentile.

Giuseppe

but he had issues
mid-track and had lift.

If ryan beats jeff and jeff

My car runs pretty good
to about the 330,

and it starts shaking the tires.

Took a real hard right,

came real close
to clipping the wall.

I'm not gonna win a finals
race by running like that.

Wonder if
that's what happened.

So I get it back here.
My guys cool it off.

We pull the front clip
off of it.

There's oil everywhere.

Turns out there's a big
oil leak on the intake.

But we've got to thrash
and get it fixed.

The second grudge race to me
is majorly important

so I can get another test
pass for this finals race.

I'm not gonna beat
my stuff up,

and I know you've got
to win this deal,

so if there's anything

- Here comes doc and daddy dave,

another pair of 405 racers.

Sharing data as a team is really
going to give team okc an edge

because everyone
is having issues

on this challenging track.

Azn: Right, and every time
they race each other,

they're getting
twice the data.

They're also keeping
the information

away from other racers.

Only the 405 knows
how fast the 405

is getting down this track.

And it's really fast.

Sounded like either a rocker
or exhaust leak or something.

And daddy dave has
to shut his down.

It does not sound good.

Something in the motor
making a little bit of noise.

They're gonna take it back

a free pass down this track.

- Doc's pass was lightning-fast.

Farmtruck: Trading data
with other okc racers

has really paid off

because he didn't have any
trouble getting down the track.

Daddy dave had issues,
but at least he can count

on the data from doc
to help him keep going forward.

Apparently lack of maintenance
on my part.

I didn't adjust them,
so it burnt...

Maybe they were too tight.

has finally caught on

to what team texas

to work together, as well.

Nola has always been a force
on the street as a team,

so if they can figure out
how to work together here,

they could be a team to watch
on the no prep track, as well.

they did make it
down the track.

of two passes as he gets ready

to run the finals
- that were postponed in maryland.

His last hit on this track
wasn't so great,

so he's got to be hoping
to make a better hit here.

Giuseppe struggled
in the left lane,

and now he is
trying out the right.

Without a team
to fall back on,

he has to test
in both lanes himself.

Farmtruck:
- It's really a disadvantage

because he had to abort
his mission in the left lane,

so he didn't get any info
for a complete pass.

But if he doesn't run
the right lane now,

he won't have any other way
to get the data in that lane,

which could really hurt him
in the race against ryan martin.

rough run for giuseppe,

another heavy hitter
that got loose

on the big end
of the track.

because he doesn't have

So now lizzy is looking to win

She struggled to get down
the track

earlier against birdman,

pass of the night.

Maybe she learned enough

to make a good hit now.

to see what the track can take.

Since we're only a few races
away from ryan martin

and giuseppe gentile's
race to the finals,

any data team okc can get here
would really help.

both made strong hits.

Other teams and drivers
are having issues on this track,

but the 405 seems
to have it figured out.

By only racing against
other teammates,

they're able to keep
this information sacred

and between themselves.

This could really make
a difference for ryan martin

as he prepares for the postponed
final race from maryland.

We had the back leak
fixed the first time,

and it pushed the front edge

is majorly important

so I can get another test pass
for this finals race.

Hopefully the fix
on the intake holds together.

I want to get some good data
out of this car.

I got to make it from
the starting line

to the finish line
under full power.

If I don't, I'm not gonna
win that finals race.

Like, this is what's hard.
Do I either turn it up

and see what it does
or turn it down

and see what it does?

azn: A lot of racers have gotten
squirrelly on this track,

including ryan martin.

During his first hit, he went
right and nearly hit the wall.

Farmtruck: This is ryan martin's
final grudge match

before he faces
- giuseppe gentile for $40,000.

And just like giuseppe,

ryan has switched lanes
for the second race.

Even though ryan lifted
in the right lane,

he has other data
from the 405 drivers

to plan out his future tune.

That gives him an advantage
over giuseppe,

who is out there all alone.

[ cheers and applause ]

ryan: Green light drops.

Me and chris let go
of the button,

and it makes a real good,
clean pass to the 330,

and then it starts pushing
right towards the center.

Same, very similar thing

that I did the first pass
in the right lane,

but I had a little
more room this time,

so I got a full pass of data.

At least I can use that to see
what this car really does like.

Come on.
No oil, no oil, no oil.

Announcer: Please welcome...

Holy [bleep]

Right in the [bleep] seal.
It blew it right out of

the center

Ryan:
So I get the car back here.

I pull off the front clip.

Lo and behold,
oil everywhere again.

The front seal on the repair
did not fix.

I don't know what's
going on with it.

We're gonna have to dig
into this thing

and see what's going on,
why it's pushing that front

intake seal out,
but I've got to get it fixed

before we get
to this finals race.

Get the cooler --
- the tranny cooler on that,

and then
come help us clean it.

So we're gonna pull
the intake off this thing,

we're gonna put the
gaskets in the front and
the back of the block,

and we're gonna superglue
those things down.

So we've got to wait
for the glue to dry,

reset the intake,

not use as much silicone,

and pray to god that that holds.

[ engine stuttering ]

lane is cody baker from texas.

He made a strong pass earlier
and is looking to get more data.

Okay, all right.

Second pass, grudge race,
we're racing amarillo mike.

Kind of struck the tire
at the hit, I pedaled it,

and got back in it.
It was going great.

Right at the trap,
something in the car broke,

took an immediate left,
went over and crossed lanes,

and smacked the other wall

in the front
and the back of the car.

Tore it up pretty good,
but I'm all right, so, you know,

I can live to race another day.

Farmtruck:
- Cody baker's crash marks the
last grudge race of the night.

Azn:
No one wants to see that.

One of the biggest risks of
grudge racing is breaking a car,

and cody baker just
experienced that loss.

Since it was the last
grudge race,

his crash would
change the track

and make things harder for
ryan martin and giuseppe gentile

as they prepare to run
the final race from maryland.

So, [bleep] last week we had
a lot better track.

This track's a lot trickier
now, so...

Yeah, it's a lot trickier.

It would've been nice
to finish it there.

It's tricky -- trickiest track
I've ever been on,

but we'll make sure
we'll drive that thing

and get to the other end
before him.

giuseppe: I think we got him
out of the hole,

then the car just started
shaking the tires,

and he got us probably by half
a car at the finish line there.

You know, this is big to me
because the 405 kind of

came together
at the maryland racetrack,

so I feel like
I didn't just win this for me.

I won it for the 405.

$40,000 and a trophy.
