And today is a beautiful day at the new England dragway.

Once again, our racers are getting ready

for a night of grudge racing.

That'll give them a chance to gather data on the track

and check out their competition.

Today that will be even more important for ryan martin

and giuseppe gentile.

They made it all the way to the finals in maryland,

but got rained out.

Ryan: After looking at radar, I don't think this is gonna stop,

so I think we have to agree to finish this in new hampshire,

so if you're good with it and you agree, we'll figure out

all the rest of the details in the next couple weeks.

Yeah, man, for sure.

Farmtruck: This race is worth $40,000,

and they are the last race tonight.

That will amp up the pressure on them during their grudge race.

Chuck: So, new hampshire, how we doing?

Ryan: I had all this momentum in maryland,

and then, boom, we threw this into the mix.

And here we are going to a different racetrack.

It's not as good, and I got to figure how to get down this

and try to win the finals.

Okay. - So I think the plan is,

we're gonna run our two grudge races like normal,

and then we're gonna be the last race of the night tonight.

Perfect. That works for me.

So, you know, we get a couple hits on the track,

see if we can feel it out a little bit.

Well, I'm looking forward to it, man.

How's your hot rod running? I think it's gonna be good.

We left it. We haven't done nothing since maryland.

We left it there and came here, but it ran good there.

We're just trying to get it to run a little better.

They say this track is not as good as maryland was, though.

Every track is different.

The atmosphere conditions is different at every place

we go to, so getting it tuned and getting it right

is tricky as much as we're traveling all across the u.S.,

so making a couple grudge races tells us what to do.

As long as we beat the 405. That's all I care about.

Me too.

You think giuseppe can outrun ryan?

All night I do. - Yeah.

So I'm glad they're running, you know,

tonight to finish the finals.

I hope giuseppe gets his ass.

Farmtruck: At the last grudge night, the 405 banded together

and decided to only race each other

to keep all the info about their passes to themselves.

Azn: While texas raced some people

who weren't on their team,

eventually texas adopted the same strategy,

but it was later in the night.

And that doesn't mean they'll stick to that tonight.

[ cheers and applause ]

superstar racer lizzy musi is here to race tonight,

and she and her boyfriend, kye kelley,

are running the same setup,

both powered by pat musi engines.

Pat musi is one of the most legendary engine builders

in drag racing.

Everyone knows that a musi engine packs some serious power.

So, lizzy, you're gonna be racing this time, right?

Yeah. - We did some testing in virginia,

and the car is running pretty stout,

so we're pretty thrilled to run it here at this event.

I got birdman first round. - Uh-huh.

And it was supposed to be lil country second round,

so we'll see if we can get that race in.

Is kye -- kye, you locked in

with anybody - to grudge later on today?

Yeah, I got lil country again. Got away from me last race,

so I'm gonna try to get my money back.

The race I'm excited to see is lizzy and the birdman.

I can't wait for that.

Yeah, that's gonna be a good one, as well.

We can't wait to see that one.

I want to take out the fastest guys that I can take out

because that's how you win a race,

so that's what my goal is.

but if I can take out the fastest guys

Farmtruck: Lizzy musi is a record-holding racer

and drag-racing legend,

and tonight she's bringing the aftershock camaro to the track.

Azn: Although she's a pro,

she's struggled - on no prep tracks before.

Wish I could give you a [bleep] car that'd go straight.

Farmtruck: Calling out birdman is a bold move.

Going after this one-time no prep kings champion

shows that she's here to make a statement.

Azn: Add in the fact

that this is the first race down a new track,

and every single racer is gonna be watching to see

if she can knock him out.

Man: Birdman for the win.

That was not a good race for either of those drivers.

Birdman lost control on the big end

and missed the wall by inches

because he pulled his chutes.

That's a move that you'll see a lot of racers

try if they're getting out of shape.

Pulling the chutes can slow you down quickly

and straighten out the car.

Anyone watching that pass is probably thinking

about taking power out of their car

before they make a pass.

Or installing a third parachute.

[ both laugh ]

You have a rough time on the big end?

What?

Actually immediately.

Like, it just freaking... Annihilated them?

Yeah.

I'm glad you weren't there

because I said, "I'm gonna push it

as far as I can - because I know it's slick."

yeah. - I pushed it too far.

I did. The chutes caught me.

So, kye kelley is racing lil country for $5,000, folks.

Azn: Kye kelley - and florida racer lil country

raced in maryland for 5 grand,

and lil country took the w.

Farmtruck: So now kye is looking for some revenge.

And a little more data on this slick track.

Kye's girlfriend, lizzy,

and birdman both struggled to make clean passes,

so these next few racers are going to try to adjust,

maybe pull some power out, and see if that will let them go

a to b.

man: And justin swanstrom takes the win!

Kye kelley leaves a couple minutes early

and gives it away on the start line.

Good race. - Thanks. Yeah.

Another good race that I pay you, man.

farmtruck: Kye just lost another 5 grand to lil country.

Azn: That's gonna hurt.

They only get so many hits down this track,

and they lost the first two.

Kye: So how you feel?

I feel pretty good.

I've been doing some thinking.

Okay. - You see the 405,

they're all teamed up, grudge racing each other.

Texas, they're all... I know. I saw that.

...Really, really tight, and then here we are.

We're racing people from florida and everywhere else.

Like, and we got a whole bunch of nola guys sitting right here.

I know. I know.

I mean, together as a team, I have traveled the world,

and I have murdered people

with those guys. - Yeah.

405 is teamed up.

Texas is teamed up.

Nola, we're just spread out apart.

We don't even talk to each other.

A few years back, team nola was on top of the world.

We were racing together, and we were beating everybody

who tried us.

[ laughter ]

as time went on, we stopped acting like a team.

I think [bleep] [bleep] dude.

It all went south.

You cried last time! Kye: No, you cried.

You went red! You cried!

You know why we race tonight?

Because you a [bleep] crybaby! I didn't cry.

You're supposed to say, "hey, man, we're a team"!

You hit. You didn't say one word.

kye: I got to get my team back together

so we can work together

and we can beat all these other teams.

Most of us are nitrous cars,

so we can actually share some data with each other,

you know, how the track is working and all that,

so I think it's just a whole better deal.

It's better than being a lone wolf.

We just got to put aside all that drama

that's going on - and come together as a team.

If the first pass off the trailer stays forward,

even if it's not, like, fast, we have something to work with.

Make sure we win this [bleep] that's the thing.

Everybody has got the same track, right?

So it's not like the track is good for them but not us.

Yeah, it's sketchy, but we'll get down it.

I mean, he's the guy to beat right now. So we want to beat

the fastest guys, so we got vixen.

He's definitely one of the guys we want to race.

And I'm feeling like we're gonna do pretty good on this track.

But we'll know as soon as we start getting down the track

if we're gonna be good or not.

Azn: - Coming up, the slick track

proves to be a challenge for all the racers...

You kick my ass all the time. Ain't nothing new to me.

If I can outrun you, a good chance I can outrun him.

Farmtruck: And the 405 presses on with their plan

to only race each other

while ryan martin and giuseppe

get ready for the biggest race of the night.

-Oh [bleep] -what now?

Farmtruck: Giuseppe is under a lot of pressure

during his grudge races because, at the end of the night,

he has to race none other than ryan martin

to finish off the main event from maryland.

Azn: You know, he'd love to get a grudge race

against ryan martin to see how he's stacking up,

but with the 405 strategy of only racing each other,

he won't get that chance.

Instead, he's lined up a race against rich bruder

in the vixen, and he's no joke.

And after this race, we're gonna have a spelling contest

to see who can spell giuseppe gentile.

[ laughs ]

for $40,000.

Wait. I'll give it a try.

and observing your competition for a little later on tonight.

Yeah. It moved.

Right now, we're just trying to get some data

to race ryan here for the finals,

so that was a pretty good run, I think.

We got probably 350 feet or so, so we'll turn it down

or whatever we got to do and look at the data,

and we'll be ready for ryan.

Oh, good race. Sketchy out there.

Yeah. [bleep]

you moving around and [bleep] too? Yeah.

You have to pedal it or no? - Yeah.

Yeah. I had to pedal it, too.

It wouldn't take it. Got down.

It was sketchy out back, though.

Ryan: Don't exactly know the right move,

but I've slowed it down a little off the button

to try to prepare myself for this final that I have.

I'm using you as a test. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So... And I know that your car

is one of the fastest on the property,

so that's why I wanted to make sure you

and I got at least one good lick.

Right. Yeah.

If I can outrun you, a good chance I can outrun him.

Azn: Our fellow 405er, ryan martin,

is getting ready to make his first hit on this track.

This hit will give him data that he can use

for the final race against giuseppe gentile.

Giuseppe already made a pass,

but he had issues mid-track and had lift.

farmtruck: Ryan has decided to grudge race against jeff lutz...

-Whoo! -Whoo-hoo!

...Because he thinks jeff is faster than giuseppe.

Right, racer math.

If ryan beats jeff and jeff made a good pass,

then ryan can probably beat giuseppe

with the exact same pass.

Exactly.

At least, that's the plan.

man: Oh! Wow!

I'm not sure if he touched it or not!

Ryan martin all the way up against the wall.

That looked close!

Ryan: Green light drops.

My car runs pretty good to about the 330,

and it starts shaking the tires.

Took a real hard right,

came real close to clipping the wall.

I'm not gonna win a finals race by running like that.

What we got?

Wonder if that's what happened.

So I get it back here. My guys cool it off.

We pull the front clip off of it.

There's oil everywhere.

Turns out there's a big oil leak on the intake.

But we've got to thrash and get it fixed.

The second grudge race to me is majorly important

so I can get another test pass for this finals race.

I'm not gonna beat my stuff up,

and I know you've got to win this deal,

so if there's anything I can do...

Daddy dave: You ready for this slick-ass track?

We ought to do good.

Or bad.

Bad. Bad. - All right.

50-50 we're gonna do bad.

Farmtruck: - Here comes doc and daddy dave,

another pair of 405 racers.

Sharing data as a team is really going to give team okc an edge

because everyone is having issues

on this challenging track.

Azn: Right, and every time they race each other,

they're getting twice the data.

They're also keeping the information

away from other racers.

Only the 405 knows how fast the 405

is getting down this track.

And it's really fast.

[ engine idling ]

[ engine revs, idles ]

[ engine sputters ]

that don't sound good.

Sounded like either a rocker or exhaust leak or something.

And daddy dave has to shut his down.

It does not sound good.

Something in the motor making a little bit of noise.

They're gonna take it back and take a look at it,

which means doc will get a free pass down this track.

azn: Whoa. - Doc's pass was lightning-fast.

Farmtruck: Trading data with other okc racers

has really paid off

because he didn't have any trouble getting down the track.

Daddy dave had issues, but at least he can count

on the data from doc to help him keep going forward.

What happened, man?

Apparently lack of maintenance on my part.

I didn't adjust them, so it burnt...

Maybe they were too tight. It burnt the [bleep]

hey, - I've done the same [bleep]

lack of maintenance on my part.

Tried to turn it up, and we had some issues.

At the starting line, we had a burnt pushrod tip

and a burnt pushrod itself.

Yeah, definitely [bleep] maintenance tonight.

We're gonna cram some oil back in it

and go back up here for the second grudge.

Farmtruck: Pulling up to the line are teammates

ronnie pace and cody baker.

Team texas is following okc's lead by racing each other

and keeping information within the team.

Azn: This is an adjustment they started making in maryland.

Texas started off picking their grudge races

without a team strategy.

Now, for the most part, team texas is racing each other...

...Except birdman raced lizzy musi

earlier in the night.

Making a good pass,

kind of pushed to the right a little bit about 450 feet.

Next up are some drivers out of new orleans --

bobby ducote versus scott taylor.

It looks like team nola has finally caught on

to what team texas - and team okc have been doing.

They are all trying to work together, as well.

Nola has always been a force on the street as a team,

so if they can figure out how to work together here,

they could be a team to watch on the no prep track, as well.

whoo! That is a real no prep right there, boys!

Yeah.

Mine didn't even move.

Really? Mine left good, man.

It got out there right where I was about to lift.

It was even slick once I let off the gas.

It was slick. - I know.

Hey, we got us a hot rod, though.

Scott: We made a great pass, but I'm telling y'all,

this is one of the slickest surfaces we've ever been on,

and I know everybody's said that

once or twice in their life,

but I'm telling you, ain't no street in the country

as slick as what this racetrack is today.

Good run, brother. - I give.

You kick my ass all the time. Ain't nothing new to me.

Azn: We are farmtruck and azn.

Farmtruck: So far, nola hasn't had

a very good clam bake in new England.

The [bleep] is a clam bake?

Oh, y'all get together, and you have a big pot

and boil lobsters and clams,

and...That's what they do in new England.

I used to live there.

It's time for a commercial break.

they're about to get another shot at this track

with the next race.

Jerry bird is pretty badass in that probe of his.

Barry nicholson in the godfather is no slouch either.

well, that did not go well.

It really did not.

Even though both barry nicholson and jerry bird had issues,

they did make it down the track.

Hopefully all of nola can get together

and share what they've learned to work out their kinks.

Go back to the drawing board.

can't even do a burnout, right, because it's, like,

when I get to a certain point, it goes past it.

You can't sit there and feather it.

You know what I'm saying? The throttle?

Yeah. - You got a hard spot in it?

Yeah, so I don't know if it's the...

Think one of the heim joints on the linkage is messed up.

azn: This is giuseppe's second of two passes as he gets ready

to run the finals - that were postponed in maryland.

His last hit on this track wasn't so great,

so he's got to be hoping to make a better hit here.

Giuseppe struggled in the left lane,

and now he is trying out the right.

Without a team to fall back on,

he has to test in both lanes himself.

Farmtruck: - It's really a disadvantage

because he had to abort his mission in the left lane,

so he didn't get any info for a complete pass.

But if he doesn't run the right lane now,

he won't have any other way to get the data in that lane,

which could really hurt him in the race against ryan martin.

whoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo-hoo!

Azn: That was another rough run for giuseppe,

another heavy hitter that got loose

on the big end of the track.

Yes, giuseppe is hoping that run gave him enough information

because he doesn't have a team to help him

adjust his tune for the upcoming race.

I pedaled. It wanted to chip a little bit,

but we're getting closer, so...

Yeah, no, no.

At least now we can work with something.

We're going the other way. Yeah, no, no doubt about it.

What happened? - It just spun early.

It spun early. I was out.

I think we were pointed a little wrong,

and it went right. That was it, so...

farmtruck: Lizzy musi is lining up for her second grudge race

on this slick track.

Since her first hit, we've seen team nola

start racing each other and even sharing info.

Azn: But before that started, lizzy already had this race

with lil country set up. - Right.

Lil country raced kye earlier in the night.

Kye red-lit. Cost him 5 g's.

So now lizzy is looking to win that 5 grand back for her man.

She struggled to get down the track

earlier against birdman,

but it was the first pass of the night.

Maybe she learned enough in that pass

to make a good hit now.

lizzy got loose on the big end and crossed the center line.

But she still takes the win.

Good for her.

I guess sharing data with team nola is already paying off.

Well, how did you make out?

Well, no, I seen you come across.

That's why I stopped. -Yeah. Yeah.

well, it was right around 1,000 foot it went over.

Now, what happened to you?

Well, you shot a cone over and hit me.

Oh, are you serious? No, you're fine.

1,000 foot, though, right? It was way out.

Oh, I don't know where it was at.

farmtruck: Once again, we have a huge grudge race

between team okc.

Azn: Chuck has been watching team okc

and betting on the line.

And this is doc's second grudge

after making - a blistering fast pass earlier.

You know what doc might do,

is take advantage of racing another teammate

and turn up his tune to see what the track can take.

Oh, yeah. Chuck left with hoops in the air.

Team okc sharing the info has clearly paid off.

Chuck made a killer pass.

It looks like the 405 has figured out this track,

which has given them the big edge.

And all the other teams are still struggling

to figure it out.

All right! Doc is bringing my funnel cake!

That don't look like a funnel cake.

So all the funnel-cake places were closed,

so I did you one better. Okay.

When I was in boston the other day, everybody said

one of the places I needed to go to was mike's pastries.

Okay. [ cheers and applause ]

hear that? - Chocolate-covered something

with whipped cream. It's pretty badass.

So I even did you one more solid.

Okay.

nah, I don't think I got it.

During the run, we took a real hard right,

came real close to clipping the wall,

but, you know, I didn't need to overdrive it for a grudge pass,

but I tried to stay with it to try to get the data.

It just didn't work out.

So right now, I know I've got oil all over the engine bay.

I don't know if that got onto the tires,

and that's what was causing an issue,

or if the car just didn't like the power.

So now we've got to thrash, fix the intake

so we can make the second grudge race.

So you think the front

'cause we had to push it to let the throttle body on it.

Okay. Work your way out.

I don't know. Makes me wonder if...

Farmtruck: Kye kelley is ready to run his second grudge race.

Azn: Nola has started testing together, but kye and lizzy

already had grudge races set up.

But kye is still keeping data away from team texas

and team okc,

so this time, he's racing b-rad from kentucky.

Kye kelley with a hell of a pass!

Brad eglian loses a tire immediately.

And it comes within probably a centimeter of hitting the wall.

Wow!

Nope, I can see space between there.

He did not hit the wall.

My throttle stuck.

Really? - Yeah, I put that...

Still slick up there, but right here, it's coming around.

I don't know if you saw ryan's pass,

but he [bleep] almost hit the wall.

So did I. Well, he was up against it.

I saw the video.

He was close. - Yeah.

It just scared me because I was headed that way so sharp.

You know what I mean? Yeah, it just kicked it,

kicked the tires. It kicked it. Yeah.

Perfect, wheeler.

It'll be a [bleep] damn miracle

if this thing goes up there and makes a lick.

farmtruck: Daddy dave had issues in his burnout.

Daddy dave: We had a burnt pushrod tip and a burnt pushrod itself.

Yeah, definitely [bleep] maintenance tonight.

He fixed the issue, - put some oil in the engine,

and he's back to make a hit on this track.

Azn: For this race, dave is facing off against friend

of the 405 robin roberts.

Robin has a fast car, and these two should be evenly matched.

Since we're only a few races away from ryan martin

and giuseppe gentile's race to the finals,

any data team okc can get here would really help.

robin roberts and daddy dave both made strong hits.

Other teams and drivers are having issues on this track,

but the 405 seems to have it figured out.

By only racing against other teammates,

they're able to keep this information sacred

and between themselves.

This could really make a difference for ryan martin

as he prepares for the postponed final race from maryland.

All right. - Well, got the intake back on.

We had the back leak fixed the first time,

and it pushed the front edge of that foam piece out.

It got you. - So it was just...

I pulled it off, but I'm glad I saw it hanging there.

Good call on pulling the intake.

Well, just, I... - I know.

I mean, you never know, but I feel like we're going

for the end-of-the-night race

even if we have to skip the grudge.

You know what I mean?

The second grudge race to me is majorly important

so I can get another test pass for this finals race.

Hopefully the fix on the intake holds together.

I want to get some good data out of this car.

I got to make it from the starting line

to the finish line under full power.

If I don't, I'm not gonna win that finals race.

Like, this is what's hard. Do I either turn it up

and see what it does or turn it down

and see what it does?

azn: A lot of racers have gotten squirrelly on this track,

including ryan martin.

During his first hit, he went right and nearly hit the wall.

Farmtruck: This is ryan martin's final grudge match

before he faces - giuseppe gentile for $40,000.

And just like giuseppe,

ryan has switched lanes for the second race.

Even though ryan lifted in the right lane,

he has other data from the 405 drivers

to plan out his future tune.

That gives him an advantage over giuseppe,

who is out there all alone.

ryan: Green light drops.

Me and chris let go of the button,

and it makes a real good, clean pass to the 330,

and then it starts pushing right towards the center.

Same, very similar thing

that I did the first pass in the right lane,

but I had a little more room this time,

so I got a full pass of data.

At least I can use that to see what this car really does like.

Ryan: So I get the car back here.

I pull off the front clip.

Lo and behold, oil everywhere again.

The front seal on the repair did not fix.

I don't know what's going on with it.

We're gonna have to dig into this thing

and see what's going on, why it's pushing that front

intake seal out, but I've got to get it fixed

before we get to this finals race.

Get the cooler -- - the tranny cooler on that,

and then come help us clean it.

So we're gonna pull the intake off this thing,

we're gonna put the gaskets in the front and the back of the block,

and we're gonna superglue those things down.

So we've got to wait for the glue to dry,

reset the intake,

not use as much silicone,

and pray to god that that holds.

[ engine stuttering ]

I don't know.

Farmtruck: Up next in the right lane is cody baker from texas.

He made a strong pass earlier and is looking to get more data.

he is running against a fellow team member, amarillo mike,

another team-texas- versus-team-texas race.

azn: In no prep kings, grudge night

is a chance for drivers

to size up the track, their car, and their competition.

It's all oklahoma 405 -- 405 versus everybody.

Chuck: That's what we got to do. Don't let those guys size you up.

Don't let them get in your heads.

Azn: The data a team collects

can make or break them.

try to get a first-round win for both of us.

Azn: - But overestimating the track

or making just one split-second mistake

[bleep] blew off, - and I think it got oil on it

at the back of its... Okay, all right.

Second pass, grudge race, we're racing amarillo mike.

Kind of struck the tire at the hit, I pedaled it,

and got back in it. It was going great.

Right at the trap, something in the car broke,

took an immediate left, went over and crossed lanes,

and smacked the other wall

in the front and the back of the car.

Tore it up pretty good, but I'm all right, so, you know,

I can live to race another day.

Farmtruck: - Cody baker's crash marks the last grudge race of the night.

Azn: No one wants to see that.

One of the biggest risks of grudge racing is breaking a car,

and cody baker just experienced that loss.

Since it was the last grudge race,

his crash would change the track

and make things harder for ryan martin and giuseppe gentile

as they prepare to run the final race from maryland.

So, [bleep] last week we had a lot better track.

This track's a lot trickier now, so...

Yeah, it's a lot trickier. I mean, it's...

It would've been nice to finish it there.

I mean, that felt good. Now we got to really...

We're struggling today.

So, I'm feeling good. We made the adjustments

we needed to make, but it's definitely sketchiest track

I've ever been on for sure.

and we'll fix it.

We got the car fixed. I'm actually more confident

in it now than I have been,

but, you know, my nerves are rattled, you know?

It's like I didn't get any really good, clean passes.

I need a good, clean pass on this run to get around giuseppe

'cause I know he's probably gonna make one.

-You good for the finals? -I think.

-Huh? -I think.

I mean, I'm good, but I'm nervous

I'm getting ready to turn it back down.

Ryan: I've got all this momentum from the maryland racetrack.

The 405 kind of came together,

and we kind of helped each other to get where we were.

I'm excited that it's finally here.

I've waited a long time to finish this race up,

and now it's go time. I got to win this for the 405.

I've got my two finalists from maryland

that got rained out.

I got giuseppe gentile... Yeah, you got it.

and then we have - ryan "fireball" martin here.

[ crowd cheering ]

These are the two baddest men on the planet

and I want to give somebody $40,000.

Giuseppe: We were running really, really good in maryland.

Come here, and the track is just...

It's tricky -- trickiest track I've ever been on,

but we'll make sure we'll drive that thing

and get to the other end before him.

giuseppe: I think we got him out of the hole,

then the car just started shaking the tires,

and he got us probably by half a car at the finish line there.

You know, this is big to me because the 405 kind of

came together at the maryland racetrack,

so I feel like I didn't just win this for me.

I won it for the 405.

$40,000 and a trophy. Whoo!

[ crowd cheering ] man: Yeah, baby! [ bleep ]

hopefully that this shows

that us coming together as a group worked.

Y'all ready? Here we go.

You know, that's another notch in the 405's belt.

That's a kick in the ass to texas,

and hopefully we just keep doing it.

Chuck: Our boy, ryan martin, took maryland,

so we're off to a good start.

Azn: Team okc felt strong as they went into event number two

as a united team.

We're gonna let everybody in the world know

the fastest state on earth is still oklahoma.

But the newly formed team nola banded together.

Kye: Let's do it, y'all. I'm ready.

As a result, the event was a battle between okc and nola.

[ engines revving ]
