Original subtitles

I should welcome you. It's the return of the king.

August 19.

MBC's new love story is finally making its return.

That welcoming was a bit extreme.

We wanted to know what the genre of this drama was.

It's the first time someone protected me.

A love story about adults...

for the adults that MBC ambitiously prepared.

And what's the story about?

You're my student.

I'm not as young as you think.

"I'm your teacher. You're my student."

A taboo love is born.

I thought you fell for me for my beauty.

Beautiful scenes that will heal your soul.

Did she say she'll go out with you?

Ye Ji needs an adult man who will protect her,

not a kid like you.

And a love triangle between brothers who love the same woman.

What a shocking premise.

Even the title is sweet.

"When I was the Most Beautiful".

It tugs at your heartstrings and makes you sad,

but it's also like a very refreshing novel or movie.

I'm sure everyone has experienced a heartbreaking first love...

or something like that.

I'm grateful to have a chance to work on...

such an intense love story.

I'm working hard to give it a serious performance.

It's more fun if you know about it.

""When I was the Most Beautiful".

Are you ready for some TMI?

Are you ready? Okay, then. Let's go.

(When I was the Most Beautiful Characters A to Z)

Hello.

I'm Im Soo Hyang. I'm playing Oh Ye Ji...

in the MBC Wednesday-Thursday miniseries,

"When I was the Most Beautiful".

Oh Ye Ji, the woman who is loved by two men at once.

The main characters of love stories...

usually make their first appearance looking pretty under an umbrella.

But our main character shows her natural beauty...

with an all-natural, fully organic umbrella.

You finally have a student teacher.

A student teacher teaching art, the classic first love target.

I'm not a fun person, but...

"I'm not a fun person, but I'm fun once I get drunk."

Don't you have a home?

She worries about a cat's housing situation.

Did your boyfriend dump you?

She even gets involved in a cat's love life.

You can't sit here like this.

Even as she forgets it's "When I was the Most Beautiful",

and shoots "When I was the Most Wasted"...

- I... - Are you giving me a tour?

She becomes adorable when drunk.

That isn't all. She didn't wash her face before bed,

but she has beautiful skin the next morning.

How much is it like me? I'd say 100 percent?

That's really just like you?

Let's go on a tour.

Knowing this drama would air when everyone craves an evening snack,

she eats plenty of snacks from cup noodles...

to triangular gimbap...

and shows us how much she enjoys food.

After a terrible incident during childhood,

she grew up like an orphan with her aunt.

Quit that student teaching garbage right now.

Why did you send me to college then?

Did I send you?

You insisted on going.

Forget the endless verbal abuse.

She is traumatized by that incident.

It's very dark in many ways,

and she suffers a lot of unfortunate events,

but she grows so that she can overcome them.

I think that's more appealing about her.

The most appealing thing is how she approaches alcohol.

What about food?

You can't drink without food.

She even worries about what he'll eat with his drinks.

This is how she stole men's hearts.

I'm at the center of the love story...

with Hwan and Jin.

I think it has that pure image, like first love.

The rain is only hitting me.

As the return of Im Soo Hyang in an MBC drama,

one of the most favored actresses,

many people are waiting for this drama to premier.

I've been doing...

variety shows sporadically with MBC,

so it doesn't feel strange at all.

Thus, we put together clips of Im Soo Hyang in variety shows.

Sung Hoon's dream girl?

He said on a talk show that he likes her.

Are you saying she's your dream girl independent of the show?

Yes, when we were shooting the drama.

I felt those emotions.

I think I really did love her.

Turns out, she is Sung Hoon's dream girl.

Do you remember how Sung Hoon said a while ago that he liked her?

- Do you remember? - Oh my gosh.

She's shaking.

I don't think I can do this episode.

I feel like maybe, or maybe not.

It's clear that it was an unrequited love.

It's evident.

Back to the days when Sung Hoon loved her from afar.

(Right then!)

The man with the crush made a big, shocking entrance.

I remember that.

That's when he was in love with her.

Even as they exchanged slaps, there was chemistry.

But it does not end here.

- No way. Please. - What is it?

He worked really hard, didn't he?

Sung Hoon wasn't the only one who worked hard.

The most recent drama...

was the first in which I had a mom.

She's a pro at playing characters with sob stories.

- Get out. - Know your place.

If you act out of line again,

I'll expose you.

Once again, she shows the sorrows of not having a mom.

Why didn't you just leave me at an orphanage?

We analyzed her previous dramas.

They say ratings went up the harsher she was hit.

I think this is the highlight of my life.

I get to work on great pieces.

We hope Im Soo Hyang will bring us another big hit...

with "When I was the Most Beautiful".

Come this way.

This is like a page out of a romance comic book.

He falls in love at first sight with the student teacher...

and pursues her diligently.

The devoted lovebird, Seo Hwan.

Hello, I'm Ji Soo, and I'll be playing the role of Seo Hwan.

Let's talk about this high schooler with a fresh, innocent charm.

With a famous potter for a father...

and a vivacious CEO for a mother,

he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Not bad.

He is a top student in school, has good looks,

and grew up well without lacking anything.

Thus, he's widely popular at school.

Hwan, should we get married?

Can't you go sit somewhere else?

Why are you always within a 50cm radius?

- Because we like you. - Because we like you.

He cares about people, he's serious,

and he's a healthy young man.

If he were a vegetable, he'd be organic.

This organic vegetable-like boy...

experiences a fatalistic first love.

He thought it was a fleeting...

sense of adoration toward his student teacher. However...

I'll make you get used to it.

Once you do get used to it,

you'll just smile when something good happens.

An adorable organic vegetable boy...

who seriously considered marrying his teacher.

- Jin. - He meets a surprise rival.

Are you going to drive her?

I'll catch it for you. It'll be two stops ahead at most.

I gave her a ride on my bike and showed off in front of the kids,

but my big brother gave her a ride in his fancy imported car.

This darned capitalist society.

Do you like my brother?

But I'm not interested in dating.

I won't get married either.

I believed you. Ms. Oh, you said you wouldn't go out with anyone.

So what's going on here?

- He's straightforward. - I'm a man too.

He says, "I'm no longer..."

"an organic vegetable, I'm a tough man."

"But it isn't a sin to fall in love, is it?"

The pure-hearted boy who had a crush on his brother's girlfriend.

Ji Soo shows an amazing performance.

He also played a high schooler five years ago as a new actor.

Enough, Transfer Student.

- Who are you? - He wasn't intimidated...

acting opposite Kim Hee Seon, a seasoned actress.

Was it you?

He got beat up countless times.

He was supposed to be a rebel, but he triggered motherly instincts,

and caught everyone's eye. Then quickly...

Hey, Lucky Charm.

What's your problem?

Then came the older-woman, younger-man chemistry.

What's wrong with him lately? He's so mean to me.

He's still growing up.

He's all grown up now. Although he's in a school uniform,

he seems mature and is now playing a main character.

He is trying for a serious older-woman, younger-man chemistry,

but a serious danger arose.

He's hurt.

We had our first shoot today.

It was a scene of us on my bike.

I give Ms. Ye Ji a ride home on my bike, but...

He holds in the pain flooding back into the area.

It was very fun.

I don't think Hwan will walk for about three days.

That's what I think.

I'm fine.

Soo Hyang is super light,

so it wasn't hard at all.

He will gladly get injured for Soo Hyang.

They look adorable together on set.

You get to watch him grow into his mid-20s,

and what he experiences along the way.

I think that will be fun as well.

Ye Ji needs an adult man who will protect her,

not a kid like you.

Love comes before brotherhood.

The aggressive go-getter, Seo Jin.

Hello, I'm Ha Seok Jin.

I'll be playing Seo Jin, the older brother,

in "When I was the Most Beautiful". It's nice to meet you.

With his good looks and solid physique,

he captures the gaze of anyone watching.

He's a race car driver.

He's called a rally driver.

He drives professionally in car races.

That's what he does.

He's rough around the edges given his career,

but he is very manly, for a lack of a better word.

He has a very manly aura.

To show off that manly aura,

even his first appearance was off the roof...

with the camera panning him.

He is very handsome.

He isn't just handsome.

He takes off his shirt constantly to show off his abs...

and provides even more class.

His uncomfortably direct gazes are a given.

Because you're pretty.

And he throws out heart-stopping lines.

Don't you know that you're pretty?

His cheesiness knows no bounds.

How do you walk on these tiny feet?

And he'll pop your eardrums.

As you'll see in the drama,

my character is very straightforward,

and always pursues something...

if he likes something. I like that about him.

Ha Seok-jin, who has always played gentle intellectuals,

transformed into a tough guy...

who falls for his brother's first love.

I wondered when else I'd be able to act...

in a passionate love story again.

Ha Seok Jin gave his all to light up the screen...

with passionate love, saying it may be his last time.

Ha Seok Jin has shown various types of kiss scenes in various works.

Maybe that's why he's called the Kiss Master.

Here's a Ha Seok Jin kiss collection!

That's why he's the Kiss Master!

I guess my lips are easy.

I think I've improved recently.

I learned from the actresses playing opposite me.

That's how he evades it.

There must be a lot to prepare before a kiss scene.

You don't want to smell like toothpaste though.

I feel like I'm putting up an invisible wall then.

So even if I do brush my teeth, I rinse a lot.

That way I don't smell like toothpaste.

How detail-oriented.

He really is a master.

He says this is the most intense character he has ever played,

so we look forward to an unforgettable performance.

And...

One million dollars a year.

I think we already spent 10 million dollars.

But that's not enough?

Here's another person who will draw your attention.

She has water poured on her as soon as she makes an appearance,

but she can't complain. No. She gets on her knees.

What is her story?

I never once forgot...

who the owner is.

She turns a love story...

into a film noir with scenes you only see in gangster movies.

The femme fatale, Carrie Jung.

Hello, I'm Hwang Seung Eon, and I'm playing Carrie Jung...

in "When I was the Most Beautiful".

Hello.

It's the pink fairy on earth.

She pulls off a difficult pink suit

with ease.

I should welcome you. It's the return of the king.

She's the racing team's manager...

and Seo Jin's ex-girlfriend, which seems quite glamorous.

If you show up again, using work as an excuse,

I'll humiliate you in front of the guys.

That ending was your idea, wasn't it?

- I never agreed. - Get lost.

What did she do wrong,

that he treats her this way?

She is very greedy...

and will do anything and everything...

to get what she wants.

Let's just say she's a passionate woman.

She's overly passionate...

and two-timed Seo Jin and the racing sponsor...

Chairman Bang.

Chairman Bang pours water on her head.

- Get lost. - And Jin dumps her.

The problematic character, Carrie Jung.

Can she...

carry the drama just like her character's name?

I had difficulty finding similarities with my character.

Maybe around 13 percent?

Wait right there.

She has a shocking skill.

I heard that the success of a drama depends on your prediction.

I guess you have a good eye for that?

No, no. Actually, it's the opposite.

The ones I think will be a big hit didn't do as well...

as expected.

And the ones that I thought weren't all that...

- would become huge. - You have a terrible eye.

She always predicts the opposite.

I know.

Hopefully this time,

the positive predictions are correct and it'll do well.

Okay, cue.

We're working hard to bring you beautiful scenes...

and a beautiful story.

Please tune in.

The characters develop...

from the teens into their 20s and 30s,

So I think you will enjoy it...

Once you start,

you'll get drawn into it.

Please tune in,

and please...

support us and post nice comments online.

The drama that will make our hearts flutter...

with four eye-catching characters.

I couldn't sleep last night.

If you're excited to see the chemistry between them,

tune in on August 19 for the premier.

[Kocowa Ver] MBC E00 'When I was the Most Beautiful' -♥ Ruo Xi ♥- Synced with Subcake Android

You should've come later.

After I became an adult.

(The moment that changed my life)

A fatalistic first love that appeared...

before he could become an adult.

Hello, I'm Oh Ye Ji.

I'm Hwan.

That's my name.

(The person that changed my life)

A boy who loved his teacher...

and an unexpected rival.

Jin.

My name is Jin.

Why does his rival have to be his big brother?

Do you like that teacher?

Then I can go out with her, right?

Don't kiss my brother.

Don't hold hands with anyone else.

Don't hug anyone!

Two brothers in love with the same woman,

and a woman standing at an unavoidable fork in the road.

Thank you for appreciating me.

A blindingly beautiful story starts now.

(When I was the Most Beautiful)

On the way to school,

there's a woman who catches everyone's eyes.

Unlike the other students,

he fell in love at first sight.

Let me explain their relationship.

They are teacher and student.

I'm Oh Ye Ji.

I'm not "Oy, Gee".

Even her corny jokes are lovable.

He may have fallen for her...

even if she weren't as pretty.

I'm Hwan. That's my name.

I'm Hwan. Seo Hwan.

He's polite...

and very good looking, on top of being a good student.

He went home after making a good first impression, and...

Bring this to Seoul.

Give it to her when she comes.

Scallion kimchi tastes best if you eat it the day you make it.

It's your mom's favorite.

His sweet father makes and sends scallion kimchi...

to his wife although they're separated.

And his mom is the complete opposite.

Did you change the code?

Why didn't you call first?

Not only did she change the code without telling him...

What is it?

She won't let her son in.

Dad made new kimchi. He said to bring it over.

I'm working.

Call first next time.

Take a cab.

Do you know how long it has been since you saw me?

There's a deep meaning behind her turning him away at the door.

He has to leave right now to meet this person.

Are you okay?

I'm sorry.

Ms. Oh?

What perfect timing.

Where do you live? Do you live around here?

How could I afford a place like this?

She knows the area inside out,

but she can't say her address.

Ms. Oh ends up spending the night at Hwan's friend's place.

She finally realizes what happened.

A kind student...

who barely slept and guarded his teacher.

It would be nice if he would just play dumb.

I figured you'd be hungover.

A thoughtful student who brings his teacher a hangover drink.

Stop by our workshop later.

What is this about?

You said you need to borrow a kiln.

Did I ask you for that too?

You told me about your first love too.

It's a day she wants to erase,

but a fun memory that he cherishes.

And it brings them closer.

Furthermore, the potter that Ms. Oh looked up to...

is Hwan's father. But right then...

Do you plan to buy that?

A man with great reflexes who makes her heart skip a beat.

- Who are you? - He is none other than...

Jin.

Hwan's older brother Seo Jin...

who is just as good looking.

They both insist...

on escorting Ms. Ye Ji home.

- Hey. - In case she missed the last bus.

Are you going to drive her?

No, no. It's okay. I can cab it.

I'll catch it for you. It'll be two stops ahead at most.

My brother is a great driver.

It's not like he drives her home.

He catches the last bus for her that she missed.

She is flustered, but only briefly.

He really drove her a couple of stops...

and put her on the bus. He's a master at the game.

His motivation lay elsewhere.

Do you like that teacher?

What are you talking about?

Then I can go out with her, right?

Falling in love at first sight must run in the family.

Ms. Oh.

Have it while it's hot.

The sweet Hwan takes baby steps and brings her a hot potato.

- It's delicious. - Right?

- Hey. - He succeeds.

Jin feels threatened by his brother's potato move.

What are you doing this weekend?

This weekend?

I have to go to Seoul.

I have to do my laundry,

pack clothes to bring back...

Bingo. He makes his move using a method...

different from his brother.

You're going to Seoul, right?

Yes, since it's the weekend.

Get in. I'll drive you.

Right then.

Where's Ms. Oh?

- She went to Seoul. - What?

Hwan wanted to say bye since he couldn't see her all weekend.

I told you, she left already.

He runs after her,

but his brother's red car left long ago with Ms. Ye Ji inside.

Hwan! She arrived in Seoul already.

However...

Hey.

Finally, the biggest villain of the drama makes her appearance.

Did you not come home because you were seducing a man?

Like mom, like daughter.

You're being rude.

Please leave.

It was bad enough that you wanted to go to an expensive art school.

Now, you want to be a teacher?

Ye Ji, who is this lady?

- How could you... - And who are you?

I'm her aunt.

She had no parents, so I housed her, fed her, and clothed her.

I'm her guardian!

The aunt who abuses her niece because she's her guardian...

is beyond comprehension.

Get out!

But so is Ye Ji, who doesn't talk back once.

Ye Ji!

- What happened in the past? - Ye Ji!

Why do you just take it?

Did you commit a crime?

Because that's my home.

Because she's my only flesh and blood.

He feels sorry for her, but not for very long.

The chairman wants to see you.

I have no reason to see him anymore.

End it when you do,

but at least say bye.

He poured 10 million dollars into your team.

Jin ended the sponsorship when he learned that his girlfriend,

Carrie, was sleeping with his sponsor, Chairman Bang.

Take responsibility for Carrie.

Either marry her or take her to your team.

Did you sleep with her without expecting to do this much?

Take responsibility for your mistress?

I'm sure you loved it when you were having fun.

He's livid as is,

and Carrie shows up to make it worse.

He says he'll acknowledge it if we get married.

Naturally, he'll sponsor you for life.

Is this Europe during the Middle Ages?

Do the nobles have to take in women the king is done frolicking with?

You like me. You wanted me.

You backed off because of the chairman.

It wasn't because of Chairman Bang!

It was because I was sick of you.

I was stunned by your shameless attitude after you were caught.

Hey.

Coach Seo! Hey!

Why is the power bill so high?

What, 50?

The aunt takes out her frustration about the power bill on Ye Ji.

This is Oh Ye Ji's home.

Would you tell me where she's doing her practical training?

Ye Ji is working hard teaching at the school.

Let's transfer it over after you draw it.

Okay.

Let's begin.

I want to see the principal!

Is that a pterodactyl or a human being?

The aunt is apparently trying to ruin her niece's life.

Ms. Ye Ji runs out to fix the situation.

What are you doing?

I warned you.

Get out. Let's talk outside.

Even an enemy would be better than this aunt.

If I tell anyone,

be it a teacher or a student, you're done for.

Who would let someone like you be a teacher?

Everyone is too stunned to do anything.

Only Hwan chases after them.

How dare you come here?

Just how far must you go?

So you should've listened.

I told you to quit!

Wasn't it bad enough you made me an outcast in school?

Must you get me fired too?

People died!

There are witches who are doing fine after killing people!

Why didn't you...

just leave me at an orphanage?

Ms. Oh.

What are you doing?

Don't think of running away.

Live with me for the rest of your life.

Leave before I call the police.

Ye Ji is finally done taking it and blows up.

I'll quit.

I'll do as you wish. I won't be a teacher!

After all the drama, Hwan takes Ms. Oh to a quiet spot.

But...

Are you crying?

His heart breaks when he sees tears stream from her eyes.

He is sincerely concerned and tries to comfort her.

No. I got water on my face.

She couldn't cross the teacher-student line,

but she starts to open her heart to the sweet and tender Hwan.

Jin becomes nervous and takes action.

Your phone.

- Pardon? - Give me your phone.

Thank goodness it was Ha Seok-jin. Anyone else would've been arrested.

Call me if anything happens.

It's written all over your face that something happened.

What a creative reason to get her number.

He told her to call if anything happens,

but he keeps calling first...

and expresses his feelings for her.

He looks like he'd fly to the sky and pick a star for her.

This isn't enough for anyone.

Don't underestimate this. You'll regret it.

He's strong.

The day after she was comforted by the two brothers...

Hi Hwan, you're here early.

- Hello. - Hi.

I thought the principal would call you in as soon as you came,

but he hasn't yet.

It looks like the rumor didn't spread very far,

so let's wait and see for the time being.

For some reason, the school is quiet even after the commotion.

I'm sorry for causing a scene yesterday.

Are you okay?

Yes.

That's good.

Hwan and his friends worked so hard.

- Sorry? - And the shocking story...

of what happened behind-the-scenes.

He came at the break of dawn...

and asked each and every student not to talk about it.

In case a bad rumor may circulate...

because of yesterday's commotion.

Ms. Ye Ji never imagined how hard Hwan would've worked for her.

Like that, his feelings for her grow day after day.

Ms. Oh!

My mom said to eat this in the car on your way up to Seoul.

Da Woon, Hwan's friend who has a crush on him...

sees his text to Ms. Ye Ji asking to meet,

which ignites her jealousy.

She gets angry and deletes the text.

(Delete message)

Hwan has no idea...

and heads to the spot where he asked Ms. Ye Ji to meet.

Ye Ji leaves home at the same time,

and who's waiting for her?

Choose. Seoul or a deviation?

I know what will happen to you, so I don't want to take you there.

Hwan has no idea about this,

and he waits endlessly for Ms. Oh with his nicely wrapped gift.

The person you have reached...

Ms. Oh does not show up...

We won't catch anything at this rate.

- Hey! Hwan! - Did you catch anything?

Unwelcome guests arrive,

and why are they so quick?

What's that? Who is it for?

It can't be for Da Woon.

Is it for Ms. Ye Ji? Is it?

I knew it when you told every kid to keep their mouth shut.

You're stuck to her like glue. You ride your bike together too.

Watch it.

Ye Ji is the best among the teachers.

When he hears her name, Hwan loses control.

- Ye Ji is the best. - No, the English teacher.

- Want to see something awesome? - What is it?

You jerk. When did you take this?

Not only did he objectify her, he even took secret pictures of her.

While Hwan punishes the kid who took the pictures...

Excuse me.

Excuse me. What are you doing?

The older brother shows off his muscular back.

Add another "first experience" to your list.

She wonders if this is the deviation he mentioned,

and she shyly walks into the ocean.

Their passion gets swept away by the waves as well.

However,

Ye Ji has a complicated past that she can't talk about.

Once you find out about me,

you'll want to run away.

I don't mind, even if you say you murdered someone.

I'm sure you had your reasons.

You don't know anything about me.

I hear you have a lot of girlfriends.

Who told you something like that?

The phone rings during that awkward moment.

Hi, Da Woon.

Hwan did what?

Look at what he did to him.

He must have expected to go to prison for this!

Ma'am. As a fellow parent...

I didn't raise my son like that!

Meanwhile, Hwan only cared about one thing.

Why didn't you come?

Your brother took me somewhere.

We went to the beach for a short while.

You didn't only go to the beach.

What made you so angry?

That I'm young.

That there's nothing I can do.

I can't stop my brother from going to you.

- Hwan. - All I can do...

is beat up jerks who are rude to you.

Nothing more.

When Hwan relayed his feelings to Ms. Oh,

someone else relayed her feelings in a different way.

What's your problem?

30,000 dollars.

Are you trying to call it even with money?

No way.

The adults are talking. Stay out of it.

You're a piece of trash who sexually harasses a teacher.

His mom thinks this is an auction house, not a hospital.

Is that too little? 50,000 dollars.

100,000 dollars.

I can't go higher. We don't mind going to court.

Let's see what's worse,

secretly taking pictures or fighting.

Will you be humiliated in court and not get a penny,

or will you take 100,000 dollars and settle it?

Hwan ignores his mom, who spent 100,000 dollars for him...

and just lingers around Ms. Ye Ji.

He unintentionally sees something.

What he feared would happen became a reality.

Surprised by the unexpected audience,

Ms. Ye Ji comes toward him.

Hwan.

Didn't you know how he felt?

Hwan's feelings, which no one appreciated,

finally blows up.

Stay away from Ms. Ye Ji.

If you can't even say openly that you like her, move on.

I like her. I want to protect her,

and make sure she doesn't get hurt.

Give her up.

You can't handle her at your age.

They say all first loves hurt,

but he can't stop.

I don't want to lose you too.

Don't kiss my brother.

Don't hold hands with anyone else. Don't hug anyone!

The more she refuses it, the stronger love comes toward her.

How will this precarious and beautiful love story end?

I'll never forget you.

A story that came to us like rain in early autumn.

It will come to all of you soon.

(When I was the Most Beautiful)

- Wear this. - Are you in my class?

Thank you. I'll return it to you tomorrow.

I'm Hwan. That's my name.

Do you plan to buy that?

Jin. When did you come?

Happy to see me?

It's the pink fairy on earth.

We get to see Carrie now that Coach is here.

I should welcome you. It's the return of the king.

You are a bit intimidating, Mr. Seo.

Jin. My name is Jin.

Do you like that teacher?

Then I can go out with her, right?

(When I was the Most Beautiful)
