[instrumental music]
(male narrator) Long, long ago, deep in the forest
there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived.
They call themselves Smurfs.
They were good.
[theme music]
Then there was Gargamel, the evil wizard.
He was bad.
Oh, I hate Smurfs!
I'll get you, I'll get all of you
if it's the last thing I ever do!
[laughing]
Ooh! Oh, I'll get you!
I'll find your village someday. You'll be sorry!
(male narrator) Well, the forest is still there.
And if you listen, you may hear Gargamel's rage.
And if you are good, you may just catch a glimpse
of the Smurfs.
[instrumental music]
Oh, all my life I've searched
for the lost treasure of the Ancient Trolls.
And what have I got to show for it?
Nothing but bad feet
and a worn-out treasure detector!
I've had it with this worthless piece of junk!
thud
What in the..
Whoa!
Wait! S-slow down! Hold it!
Not so fast!
[gasping]
I don't believe it!
The lost treasure of the Ancient Trolls!
At last! It's mine, all mine!
Halt, trespasser.
[screaming]
[imp whimpering]
(imp) 'Who are you?'
I am the spirit of the Ancient Trolls
and you are an evil imp.
Uh, nobody's perfect.
'Silence, fool!'
No one may claim this abandoned treasure
until they have proven themselves worthy.
Oh! Oh, but I am worthy. I am, I am.
Then you must prove it
by braving the dangers of Dreadful Hollow
and bringing back three things
a feather from the giant vulture
fire from the volcano
and the fabled blue diamond
from its cave.
B-b-but that's impossible!
There is another way.
Somehow..
[chuckles] ...you must convince
a fair maiden with a pure heart
to marry you.
But-but that's impossible, too!
I know.
But I have spoken!
Wait!
Open up! Give me a chance. Hey!
[instrumental music]
[gasps] Oops! Uh..
knock knock
- Password. - Uh, sarsaparilla.
[indistinct chatter]
Order in the smurf!
[clears throat] As you know, Papa Smurf has a birthday coming up
and our problem is how to celebrate it.
[indistinct chatter]
Quiet!
One smurf at a time.
Let's have a beauty contest.
I hate beauty contests.
Uh, how about a pie-eating contest?
I hate pie.
[yawns] Ah, let's have a slumber party.
I hate party.
How about a serenade?
[indistinct chatter]
I hate yelling!
Ooh, I know.
Why not put all our talents together
into one big Smurf show?
Yeah. Like, uh, then we can each smurf our own thing.
And then let's keep it a secret.
Then we'll really surprise Papa Smurf.
- Yeah. - That's good.
[indistinct chatter]
Well, well, then it's agreed.
We'll start practice first thing in the morning.
- 'Alright!' - 'Wonderful!'
Practice? I don't need to practice.
Practice makes perfect, Smurfette.
Practice makes boring.
[birds chirping]
Okay, Smurfs, let's get started with the practice.
Hit it!
[instrumental music]
Why did the chicken smurf across the road?
Uh, 'cause the hen egged him on.
[both laughing]
And now, here's Greedy!
Greedy, what's wrong? You get nervous?
Nope.
Hungry.
[Smurfs laughing]
[instrumental music]
[snoring]
[Smurfs laughing]
Smurfette, you're just in time to practice
our smurf-dancing routine.
Oh, don't be silly. Practice is for the birds.
But, Smurfette, we'll never be good enough for the show
if we don't practice.
Oh, really, Handy.
Anybody can smurf-dance. Watch.
A little dance music, please.
[instrumental music]
[Smurfs laughing]
You see what I mean, Smurfette? We need to practice.
Oh, no, we don't. I was just warming up.
Okay, Smurfs, hit it.
[instrumental music]
Eat your hearts out, boys.
[Smurfs laughing]
Ooh, just wait! I'll show them I'm a star.
There has to be an easier way to learn how to dance
without all that dumb practice.
There has to be an easier way.
[sobbing] Oh, boo-hoo-hoo. It's not fair.
Ah, a fair maiden with a pure heart.
Uh, cheer up, my dear. Help is here.
Oh! An imp!
Ah, but not just any imp.
[kissing] I can make your dreams come true.
Oh, smurf-dancer divine.
Wh-wh-what do you mean?
Simple. Watch.
With these special shoes
'you'll be the hottest hoofer in the village.'
And best of all, no practice necessary.
Go ahead, try 'em.
snap
Wow, I can dance! I can dance!
Like a goddess!
Oh, how can I ever thank you?
Don't thank me, my dear.
One day you will repay the favor.
Oh, yes, you can count on that.
Good. Au revoir, fair maiden.
And remember, there's no business like shoe business.
[laughing]
Whee! Now I'll show them.
I'll be the greatest smurf-dancer of all time.
[instrumental music]
Hefty!
Huh? Oh! Uh-oh! Oh!
[screaming]
thud
He-Hefty, I-I'm ready to dance.
Sorry, Smurfette, practice is over.
Who needs practice? Watch this.
[instrumental music]
- Ooh! - Oh!
Ah!
[indistinct chatter]
A star is born!
Oh, gosh, Smurfette
you must have done a whole lot of practicing.
Practice? No.
When you've got it, you've got it.
[Smurfette humming]
(Smurfette) Boy, did I knock 'em dead.
Ooh, I'll be the hit of the show.
I can feel it in my feet.
Good afternoon, fair maiden.
The time has come to repay my favor.
Oh, sure. Anything.
Good, because I want your hand.
[kissing]
- My hand? - In marriage.
In marriage? B-b-but--
You promised. And a deal is a deal, my dear.
Well, I won't do it! You can't make me.
[door opens
Oh, boo-hoo!
I've done something terrible, and now I'm in big trouble!
What trouble, Smurfette?
[sobbing] Oh, I'm not really the great smurf-dancer you think I am.
These magic shoes did it all for me.
I got them from an imp.
And-and now he says I have to marry him!
Oh, boo-hoo!
Oh, don't worry, Smurfette. We'll handle him.
knock knock
Smurfette!
We mustn't be late for the wedding.
[laughing]
She's not going anywhere.
Uh, yeah, so you better leave
if you don't want some trouble.
Oh, there won't be any trouble.
No trouble at all.
Oh! Help. These shoes!
I, I-I can't stop them!
Come, my bouncing bride!
[laughing]
Let me go! Help!
Smurfette!
Come back here, smurf-napper!
[indistinct yelling]
We gotta tell Papa Smurf, fast!
Tomorrow is my birthday
and the Smurfs haven't said a word.
In fact, they seem to be ignoring me.
(Smurfs) Papa Smurf! Papa Smurf!
Ah, I knew they'd remember their Papa Smurf.
[indistinct chatter]
(all) Papa Smurf, where are you?
- Here. - Oh, Papa Smurf.
We've gotta hurry.
Smurfette has been smurf-napped!
- What? - By an evil imp!
We tried to catch him
but he was too fast for us.
Then we'll follow his tracks until we find him.
[instrumental music]
[twig snaps] Shh!
[Smurfs shushing]
- I hate shh. - Shh!
There it is.
(Papa Smurf) 'The imp's castle.'
And there's Smurfette.
(Dreamy) But look who's keeping her company.
Quietly now.
We can float across the moat on this log.
splash
[all gasping]
I guess we'll have to find another way.
I think I've got it!
[sniffles] Oh, if only I'd practiced
instead of looking for an easy way out..
Oh, boo-hoo. I'll never see my Smurfs again.
[gasps]
I only wish
I'd practiced a little more.
Oh, Hefty, you made it.
[cheering]
[snoring]
[grunting]
- Oh, yeah! - Shh!
[grunts]
[intense music]
[screaming]
[gibberish]
Hang on, Smurfs.
[gibberish]
I'll make an adorable bridegroom, don't you think?
[gibberish]
[indistinct yelling]
What's this? A bunch of little blue party crashers?
Let me at him! Let me at him!
Imp, I command you to set Smurfette free.
Aah! Give me one good reason why.
'Cause we all love her and you don't.
True, very true.
Okay, out of the kindness of my heart..
[laughing]
...I will give you Smurfs one chance
to save your Smurfette.
You must go to Dreadful Hollow and bring back three things.
A feather from the giant vulture
fire from the volcano..
[gargoyles laughing]
'...and the blue diamond from its cave.'
A p-piece of cake.
[sighs]
My friends will show you the way.
(imp) 'And be back by sunrise tomorrow'
'or Smurfette will be my bride.'
'Bon voyage! Ha-ha-ha.'
Come, my little blue bride-to-be, let's celebrate
and also bid farewell to your Smurfs
for they'll never leave Dreadful Hollow alive!
[imp and gargoyle laughing]
[intense music]
That's it. Run, you big lizards! We're not afraid!
- 'Yeah.' - Much.
[bats screeching]
N-now I know why they call it D-D-Dreadful Hollow.
Since we only have until sunrise
we better split into three groups.
Hefty, you take a team to get the vulture's feather.
Yes, sir!
(Papa Smurf) 'Handy, your group is in charge'
'of getting the flame from the volcano.'
[gulps] Yes, Papa Smurf.
And you three follow me.
We'll seek the blue diamond.
[all gulping] Yes, Papa Smurf.
[instrumental music]
I say we owe Papa Smurf a debt of gratitude
for giving us the easiest assignment.
How hard can it be to get a feather from a bird?
[vulture squawks]
Then again..
[squawks]
We'll never get a feather from that monster.
Oh, don't worry. I have a plan!
(Hefty) 'There's bound to be plenty of feathers'
'lying around in its nest.'
'So we'll just climb up and get one.'
[intense music]
Hey, hey, hey!
Hey, this is going to be easier than I thought.
[breathing heavily] As Papa Smurf says
"There's nothing to fear if you look before you leap!"
[squawking]
Uh, there's plenty of feathers in here
but they all have owners.
[vultures squawking]
Help! Help!
Put me down! Put me down!
Aah! Pick me up! Pick me up!
Clumsy!
splash
Oh, no!
'Help!'
[volcano rumbling]
[intense music]
We're almost there. And no problems yet.
Oh, yeah? Look what this heat's doing to my complexion.
Yeah, I've got a sinking feeling we're in big trouble.
Oh, fiddlesmurfs, Greedy.
You're letting your imagination run wild.
[Greedy panting]
(Greedy) Help!
- 'Greedy!' - Help!
[mumbling]
Well, Smurfs, the blue diamond
is right in that cave.
(Harmony) 'It's so quiet.'
(Dreamy) 'Yeah, it doesn't look like'
'there's anything to be afraid of.'
That's what I'm afraid of.
I hate afraid.
- 'Grouchy, stop!' - Huh?
thud
From now on, I lead the way.
Help! Somebody, help!
(Hefty) Clumsy, smurf like you've never smurfed before!
[Smurfs grunting]
Clumsy, grab the log!
Ah, I got the log! Where's the brake?
Don't worry about a thing!
I'll worry for both of us.
[Clumsy screaming]
[Smurfs cheering]
[squawking]
Ah!
[squawking]
[squawking]
[grunting]
Pull! Everybody, pull!
[all grunting]
[screaming]
thud
[groans]
[volcano rumbling]
Yipes! This thing is about to erupt.
And Smurfette's about to get married
unless we light this torch in time!
Okay, lower away.
That's it, steady.
Uh, a little more.
- Got it! - 'Hurray!'
Quick, smurf me up. Smurf me up.
(all) Pull! Pull! Pull!
[stammering] It-it s-sure is c-cold in here.
[bats screeching]
I wanna go home.
Wait, look!
(Smurfs) 'Ooh! Aah! The blue diamond!'
We found it! We found it! We found it!
- Uh, go! - Yipes! Look out!
Help!
(Dreamy gasps]
(Dreamy) Papa Smurf, help!
[squawking]
- Whoa! - Jokey!
[vulture squawking]
Hang on, Smurfs!
Yeah, uh, yeah, ha-hang, hang on.
I do like Hefty says.
[squawking]
Okay. Okay, bird, you win.
Here's a present for you.
[laughing]
boom
[squawks]
[whimpers]
(all) We got the feather!
[all cheering]
Now let's smurf out of here
while the smurfing's good!
(Clumsy) Yipes! The volcano's gonna blow!
[all grunting]
[explosion]
- Quick. - Haul him in!
(Handy) Smurf for your lives.
[whimpers]
Hang on, Dreamy. Help is on the way.
I hate cold, icy, bottomless pits.
(Papa Smurf) 'Grab on to Grouchy's ankles.'
[volcano rumbling]
The volcano must be erupting. Run, Smurfs, run!
Back to the entrance of Dreadful Hollow.
[rumbling]
- We got the feather! - We got the fire!
But where's the blue diamond?
Uh, and Papa Smurf?
- We don't know. - And we're really worried.
Oh, I hate worried. Oh..
(Papa Smurf) 'Well, what are you smurfing around for?'
We have a wedding to stop.
(Smurfs) 'Papa Smurf!'
[Smurfs cheering]
[instrumental music]
(imp) 'Sunrise. And the Smurfs have obviously failed.'
The time has come to pronounce us imp and wife.
[laughing]
Hold it!
Here are the items you requested.
[gasps] You succeeded!
I-i-incredible! Give them to me.
Wait. You must release Smurfette first.
You would give me orders?
Gargoyles, collect my wedding gifts
and rid my kingdom of these pests.
[gibberish]
You leave my friends alone.
[groaning]
Hey, great bit of smurf-dancing there, Smurfette.
Come on, Smurfs. Let's put on a show they'll never forget.
[bugle music]
[all grunting]
(imp) 'Stop them, you big lizards!'
[gibberish]
[groaning]
[gibberish]
[gibberish]
[grunting]
Smurfette, these shoes are stuck tight.
Oh, I know. But please keep trying, Papa Smurf.
Enough of this nonsense!
I have the goodies and Smurfette.
Whoa! Papa Smurf, I can't stop!
And soon, the treasure of the Ancient Trolls
will also be mine.
[laughing]
[gasps] Smurfette!
Oh, what'll we do?
I'm working on it, Clumsy.
Ah, here we go. Magic dancing shoes.
"Imps are evil, Smurfette is sweet.
(Papa Smurf) May the dancing shoes pop off her feet."
[gasps] What's this? Someone has broken my spell!
And now a twist of my own.
Smurfarama framazam!
Yipes! Stop! Get these shoes off of me!
Help!
'Stop! Help!'
[gulps]
[gibberish]
Let me go, you loony lizards!
[gibberish]
[Smurfs cheering]
Yay! Hey!
Well, Papa Smurf, this wasn't exactly
what we had in mind for your birthday
but enjoy the show!
I know now that if you really
wanna do something well
there's no substitute for practice.
Smurfette, you're so right.
And I'd say they have a lot of practicing to do.
Stop! Unhand me.
[gibberish]
[Smurfs laughing]
[theme music]
[instrumental music]
[instrumental music]
