[theme music]
(male narrator) Long, long ago, deep in the forest
there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived.
They call themselves Smurfs.
They were good.
[theme music]
Then there was Gargamel, the evil wizard.
He was bad.
Oh, I hate Smurfs!
I'll get you, I'll get all of you if it's the last thing
I ever do!
[laughs]
[Gargamel grunts]
(Gargamel) Oh, I'll get you.
I'll find your village someday. You'll be sorry!
(male narrator) Well, the forest is still there
and if you listen, you may hear Gargamel's rage.
And if you are good, you may just catch a glimpse
of the Smurfs.
[theme music]
[dramatic music]
[thunder crashing]
Storm, storm, before you're through
rage upon those creatures blue.
[shrieks]
This time those rotten-to-the-blue-core Smurfs
will be mine!
[laughs]
[birds chirping]
[trumpet music]
Exactly one year ago
the Smurfette became one of us.
And so, by special decree, I smurf this day to be
'Smurfette Day!'
[Smurfs cheering]
[Handy sighs]
[heart beats]
I, uh, heh-heh, smurfed a little gift for you, Smurfette.
Ohh.
Ooh. It smells beautiful. Thank you, Papa Smurf.
And here's a special smurfberry dessert, Smurfette.
Oh, thank you, Greedy.
Here's a surprise, Smurfette.
Oh, Jokey, how sweet.
[laughs]
[Smurfs cheering]
Oh, boy, I'm gonna
smurf her a gift too.
(Handy) When Smurfette puts on these smurf-colored glasses
she'll think I'm the handsomest Smurf of all.
Hey.
Everything looks normal. Ohh, they don't work.
Now what am I gonna do? A rainbow!
I heard Papa Smurf say that sometimes
a rainbow can make magic.
Now, if I can just remember Papa Smurf's magical phrase.
Rainbow, rainbow, shining bright
make these glasses pure of sight.
[chiming]
Wow!
[gasps] They work!
'I'm the smurfiest Smurf of all!'
The Smurfette can't help but love me best of all!
[instrumental music]
I hate dancing.
[thunder rumbling]
(Papa Smurf) 'Hmm, that storm looks'
'like a mean one.'
When my storm reaches
the Smurfs' village, Azrael
the wind will blow them right into the River Smurf
and right into my net.
[Gargamel laughs]
Smurfette! Smurfette! These are for you, Smurfette.
Ohh. They're beautiful. And they sparkle too.
Thank you, Handy.
Try them on right now, Smurfette a-and look at me.
[thunder crashing]
Oh, it's gonna rain.
The party will be ruined.
But you can still try 'em on.
Oh, my. Oh, dear.
Uh, try the glasses now, Smurfette.
Ohh!
It's a hurricane.
Quickly, take cover in the caves.
[all clamoring]
(Handy) Why don't you try the glasses now, Smurfette?
Handy, help!
Smurfette! Smurfette!
Whoa!
Oh, help! Help!
Oh, smurf is me!
Hang on, Smurfette. I'm on my way!
95, 96, 97, 98..
[panting] We're all here, but Handy and Smurfette.
[all exclaiming]
Brainy, Clumsy, Grouchy, come with me.
I hate storms.
This time you go first, Clumsy.
(Clumsy) 'Ah, okay, Brainy.'
[Brainy grunts]
There are times, Clumsy, when you smurf my patience!
They're not in the village. We'll check the river.
[wind gusting]
[spider snarling]
(Smurfette) Oh.
'Oh, hi, mister spider. Ooh. You're so beautiful.'
[snarls]
Oops. I'm off again. Bye-bye!
Smurfette, where are you?
(Gargamel) Drat! Another one empty.
Wait. Do I see a little blotch of blue coming, Azrael?
Huh?
Whee!
โช Sailing down the river โชโช
- Well, well, well. - Oh.
I've caught the grand prize.
[laughs]
Oh, Gargamel, you're so handsome.
You've lost your little blue mind.
Wha.. The storm is over? Drat!
'And I caught only one'
'miserable, rotten, wretched Smurf!'
I should have used more storm powder.
Oh, Gargie, you're wonderful.
Gargie? Wonderful?
Her ordeal has made her delirious, Azrael.
[grumbles]
And such a sweet kitty-cat.
'Could that really be you, Azrael?'
Smurfette! Handy!
Smurfette. Yoo-hoo, where are you?
- Uh, yeah, where are you? - I hate yelling.
[panting] Papa Smurf, the Smurfette blew away in the storm
and I can't find her anywhere.
Then we must keep looking.
I want you all to split up. And good luck.
I hate splitting up.
(Gargamel) 'I will never admit failure, Azrael.'
'Never, never, never!'
'If one plan doesn't work, then I'll think of another'
'even more evil.'
As long as one miserable little Smurf is left.
[clang]
Meow!
Oh, all that work.
My storm powders, the giant net.
And no Smurfs except--
Don't be blue. I'm here, Gargie.
(Gargamel) 'Quiet, you vile, miserable Smurfette.'
(Smurfette) Ohh!
'But you're so sweet and cuddly.'
You are music, you are poetry. You are--
(Gargamel) Stop it! Stop it.
- That disgusts me! - But--
Not another word until I figure out what to do.
Or I'll feed you to Azrael.
Meow!
I've got it. I've got it!
I'll turn you back into my slave.
Just like you were when I first created you.
[laughs]
Hey, a piece from the Smurfette's dress.
[gasps] And our houses. I wonder who.. Gargamel.
Oh, no. If Smurfette had those glasses on..
โช My prince is you ooh โชโช
That's her. And she's singing. She must have the glasses on.
Poor Smurfette. I just wanted her to like me.
[sighs]
Oh, Gargie.
This is for you, Smurfette.
With you in my power, you will lead the Smurfs
'right into my hands.'
[Gargamel laughing]
And get rid of those vile glasses!
Oh! Wait a minute.
(Smurfette) 'You're just plain old terrible, nasty Gargamel!'
Here I come, Smurfette!
Reow! Huh?
[grunts]
(Smurfette) 'It-it must have been the glasses.'
'Oh, you terrible, nasty wizard!'
That's right.
[laughs] I am nasty, aren't I?
[laughs] Isn't it wonderful?
[laughing]
'Now, let's get down to business.'
(Smurfette) 'No. No, please!'
It's the Smurfette, Papa Smurf.
We have to get her out of there.
I hate Gargamel.
After a little bath in this potion, Smurfette
you'll be as nasty as I.
[laughs]
Here, Smurfs!
Ouch!
- Oh, dear. - Run, Smurfette, run!
- Gargamel, let them go. - Let them go?
[laughing]
Never. Never! Azrael!
[Smurfs gasp]
[Azrael snarls]
(Gargamel) 'Watch them while I take care of the Smurfette.'
You're mean and nasty and terrible, Gargamel!
Oh, more, more.
That's music to my ears.
(Bigmouth) 'Bigmouth hungry for goodies.'
[gasp] Oh, no!
Bigmouth stuff face.
[Gargamel stammering]
Sure, Bigmouth. Heh-heh.
B-but all I have is in the cupboard there.
This is all my fault, Papa Smurf.
If I hadn't made those smurf-colored glasses..
Smurf-colored glasses? Do they work?
(Handy) 'Too well, that's the problem.'
Hmm. Heh-heh-heh.
They may come in handy yet, Handy.
Bigmouth still hungry.
Uh, but, uh, but I, I don't have any more.
I get mad when I'm hungry.
(Papa Smurf) Oh, Mr. Bigmouth?
I'll tell you how to find all the food you can eat.
All I can eat?
Yum, yum, yum.
[Azrael shrieks]
[whispering] You go to the forest..
[whispering indistinctly]
(Bigmouth) Glasses?
(Papa) 'See for yourself.'
No. No, no, no, don't!
Mmm! Wizard look good enough to eat.
'Cat too.'
Oh, no! No, no, no, you're wrong, Bigmouth.
It's, uh, it's those glasses, you..
[stammering]
Let's get out of here, Azrael!
[Azrael meowing]
Bigmouth like goodies.
(Gargamel) No! No, no, get away.
Get away! I'm not what you think!
[Smurfs laughing]
I hate laughing.
(Jokey) Hooray for the Smurfette!
[all cheering]
I made such a smurf of things..
Yoo-hoo, Handy.
Aren't you coming to my party?
- Handy, are you alright? - Go on, Smurfette.
Smurf me a good one right here. I deserve it.
- A real good one? - Hard as you can.
- Handy, are you sure? - Absosmurfly.
Okay. Here goes.
Mwah!
But, but I thought you'd be mad at me
because of all the trouble those glasses caused.
You didn't need those glasses for me to like you, Handy.
I-I didn't?
No. I-I like you just the way you are.
Really? Oh, boy.
Then I'm gonna smurf you the smurfiest present ever!
I hate being flattened.
