Original subtitles

[theme music]

(male narrator) Long, long ago, deep in the forest

there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived.

They call themselves Smurfs.

They were good.

[theme music]

Then, there was Gargamel, the evil wizard.

He was bad.

Oh, I hate Smurfs!

I'll get you, I'll get all of you

if it's the last thing I ever do!

[evil laughter]

Unh!

Oh! I'll get you!

I'll find your village someday. You'll be sorry!

(male narrator) Well, the forest is still there

and if you listen, you may hear Gargamel's rage.

And if you are good, you may just catch a glimpse..

...of the Smurfs.

[theme music]

[wind gusting]

[theme music]

No. No, that's not me.

You big hunk of Smurf, you. Mwah.

Mwah!

[gasps] Good gracious smurf!

Now what will I do?

My special mirror.

Ah, good old reliable.

Now, where was I? Oh, yes.

[wind howling]

[mirror shatters]

Oh, no. Two broken mirrors in one day.

How unlucky can a Smurf get?

[thud]

[instrumental music]

Something ominous is about to happen very soon.

I can feel it in the wind.

A rotten crab apple.

Oh, that's a very bad sign.

Papa Smurf, Papa Smurf!

Oh, I've just had the worst bad luck.

Both my mirrors broke for no reason, and--

That's it! [thud]

Bad luck.

Oh, more bad luck, Papa Smurf.

And this is just the beginning.

I must get to my laboratory.

But, Papa Smurf..

What about my mirrors?

Bad luck, bad luck. Hmm.

[wind howls]

'Oh, fiddlesmurfs!'

[Papa Smurf groaning] Ow! Ooh! Ow!

'Ugh! Such luck.'

'Now, where's that candle?'

Ah, here it is.

Now then. Luck, bad luck.

Must be here somewhere.

Ah!

[grunts]

Smurf is me. Speaking of bad luck..

Ouch!

Hm.

"In the 654th year of Smurf, an unusual eclipse

"of the June moon will bring ill winds, great misfortune

and a hundred years of bad luck."

The eclipse is two days away

and the bad luck is already starting. Uh..

"To stop this evil tide of misfortune

the Dance of the Hundred Smurfs must be performed."

Hundred Smurfs?

We need a hundred Smurfs!

Do we have a hundred Smurfs?

I'd better find out.

โ™ช La da dee-da da โ™ชโ™ช

Oh. Watch out, Papa Smurf.

'Oh, that's bad...luck.'

Painter Smurf makes one.

"An Ode to Mud."

[clears throat]

"Mud is made of earth and water.

Smurfy as Mother Nature's daughter so if.."

Whoa!

Unh!

More bad luck.

Let's see, Poet Smurf makes two.

Vanity Smurf, that's four.

[laughing]

[sighs] And, of course, Jokey Smurf.

At least this mirror can't break.

Say, that gives me a smurftastic idea.

I'll make a special mirror.

Something's wrong.

[explosion]

Oh! Of all the bad luck.

[grunting]

Ah. Hefty Smurf is six.

You shouldn't do that, Hefty. It might make you smurfbound.

And you know what Papa Smurf says.

And Brainy. That's seven.

Ah-ha. Here's Handy and Grouchy and Clumsy.

Now to hammer the wicket into place

and my smurfberry-smurfer is done.

I hate smurfberry-smurfers.

Excuse me, Handy, I need a hammer.

[clattering]

(Clumsy) 'Uh, gee, uh, that sure was bad luck.'

(Grouchy) 'I hate bad luck.'

Great smurf, this bad luck has made me forget.

Was that 86 or 68?

Oh, at this rate, we'll never make that

Dance of the Hundred Smurfs.

I'll make my new mirror out of this unbreakable silver.

Ooh, this is so exciting!

[metal clanking]

Oh, what a terrible, nasty noise!

I can't eat with all that racket.

[snoring]

[metal clanking]

[wind howling]

Do you have to keep smurfing all night?

Ow!

[groans]

[metal clanking]

[clanking stops]

I'm finished hammering now.

Hmpf. It's about time.

Ah, at last.

Now I can get some sleep.

Ah, time for a smurflicious bedtime snack.

[metal squeaking]

Whoa! Whoa!

[metal squeaking]

Oh! That's even worse than that terrible hammering!

Well, I have to polish my mirror, don't I?

(all) Not until morning!

(Hefty) Or else..

[all yawning]

Oh, what a night. I barely smurfed a wink.

Me neither.

Ah, what a nice morning.

I smurfed like a baby last night.

I've counted every Smurf

including Lazy and Greedy and me.

Uh, that gives us.. Oh, no!

We can't do the Dance of the Hundred

with only ninety-nine.

Hi, fellas.

Vanity, we've had it up to our smurfs!

Take your mirror and smurf it someplace else!

But..

I certainly won't smurf anybody out here.

[metal squeaking]

Phew. Finished at last.

[thunder rumbling]

Oh, more bad luck!

[thunder rumbling]

[gulps]

My mirror!

Hm, this mirror sure is light now.

Now light is sure mirror this, hm.

- Hey. - Yeh.

- Yow! - Woy!

Hey, you're real.

Real you're, hey.

Help! I'm being followed by myself.

Myself by followed being I'm, help!

(Smurfette) I fell on my little Smurf.

(Clumsy) Well, I bumped my head

stubbed my toe hit my crazy bone

dropped a rock on my knee, fell on my little--

(all) Smurf up!

- I dropped my cake. - I hate bad luck.

(Brainy) My glasses broke.

(Lazy) I can't sleep.

(all) You can't sleep?

Quiet! This bad luck is just the beginning

if we don't find a hundredth Smurf

for the dance tomorrow night.

[indistinct chatter]

- Papa Smurf! - Smurf Papa, Smurf Papa.

Vanity. What's going on?

I was in the forest making my mirror and then he came out.

Out came he then, and mirror my making, forest the in was I.

Quiet! Vanity, your reflection has come to life.

That's why he talks backwards.

- Huh? - Huh?

This is good luck. At last we have our hundredth Smurf.

Now we can do the Dance of a Hundred Smurfs.

[all cheer]

Summon the others. We must begin rehearsals at once.

Time is running out.

One, two. Left, right. One, two.

One, two. All together, smurf left.

[both grunt]

'And back again. Smurf right.'

Stop!

The hundredth Smurf is doing everything backwards.

Oh, gee, we find a hundredth Smurf

and he has two left feet.

He's the only hundredth Smurf we've got.

- There must be a way. - It's your fault, Vanity Smurf.

- You always smurf things up. - I do not!

- Not do I! - Come on, Double Smurf.

Smurf Double, on come.

- Come in. - In come.

- Ouch. - Hcuo!

Alright, that did it. Out, out, out!

Out, out, out. It did that, rightal.

Hmph! And stay out.

[sighs] At last.

Now I can get some smurf and quiet.

[loud knocking]

Not again.

In me let. In me let.

(Vanity) 'Get lost!'

[melancholic music]

Our only chance of preventing a hundred years of bad luck

is to teach the hundredth Smurf

not to dance backwards.

Uh, where is he, Vanity?

[stammers] I don't know, Papa Smurf.

Uh, h-he went away.

What?

Bad luck again, Papa Smurf.

It's going to get worse.

Search the village. Search the forest.

The hundredth Smurf must be found.

Ooh, look, Brainy. The birds and animals are leaving.

And they're afraid. It's the bad luck coming.

Hurry, Clumsy!

[thunder rumbling]

[lightning crashes]

Heaven to smurfatroid. What happened?

There he is, Papa. We found him!

Oh, no. Look at my new mirror. That's the worst luck yet.

Gee, I'm sorry, Vanity. I didn't mean to--

Hey. You can talk.

He's normal. He can talk.

Then that means he can dance too.

Quickly, back to the village.

[instrumental music]

[theme music]

No more bad luck now, right, Papa Smurf?

Not anymore, Smurfette.

[Jokey babbling]

[both gasp]

Oh, no. It can't be. Not another double.

Yes, it can. I mean..

[babbling]

(Jokey) 'Ouch!'

Papa Smurf has no sense of humor!

[thud]

Alright.

Let the Dance of the Hundred Smurfs begin.

One, two. Left, right. One, two. One, two.

All together, smurf left.
