"The Heiress"

Episode 14

I remember there were lots of birds

and animals last year when we came here.

Why's it so quiet today?

I can't even see a bird

Leave right now!

Are you okay?

I'm okay.

-Are you okay? -I'm okay.

I'm okay.

Look, someone is coming.

Would they be the Palace Guards?

Impossible.

The Palace Guards wouldn't know

about the assassins so quickly.

They also come to kill us.

Let's go up the mountain.

There's a mine down there.

We can't get away unless we jump and get in it.

They went towards the cliff.

Run after them!

Mr. Zhou,

you jump first.

Remember.

Don't stop at the first tree there.

Just fall along the cliff.

Can you see the mine?

Hold onto a tree beside it.

What if there's not a tree beside the mine?

It depends on your fate whether you'll die, then.

Are you jumping or not?

I...

Catch them! They're on the cliff!

Oh, no. They're coming.

I'll go first.

Mr. Zhou, Mr. Shen,

come down.

Steady.

I'll send you down with a vine.

Okay.

Don't move.

Mr. Zhou, are you okay?

Lord Han.

Shiyi,

I didn't expect you to be so good at flying skills.

He's there. Go!

We can't stay here. We'll leave the hunting ground if we go east.

You, take a squad and search the forest.

The others

hack some vines. We're going down the cliff.

Remember.

We'll catch them dead or alive.

Be careful.

Slow down.

Be careful.

You go first.

Let's go.

Your Highness,

you've blocked the road.

Yes. If they want to catch us,

it'll take some time.

There's a cave ahead. We can stay there

and leave at dawn.

There's a barracks of Gongwei Army

around 10 km towards the north.

Are you sure

we're going to stay here today?

What if they find this path

and catch up with us?

It'll have got light when they come.

They'll think that we've gone far,

hurry back to the capital

and try to ambush us on the way.

Right.

No one can expect we're not escaping

but camping in the wild.

Shiyi, don't be mad at His Highness.

He's being considerate of us.

Xuezhang and I are civil officers.

We're a burden to him.

He's a burden to us, okay?

If it weren't for him,

would those killers

keep chasing us?

Alright, alright.

His Highness is a noble and amazing person.

Let's go now.

Okay.

Okay.

Go.

Let's go.

I don't need you to hold my hand.

There are snakes here.

A real man is highly adaptive.

A squad of you,

go there.

Yes.

-Catch up. -The others follow me.

Quick. Go.

We've walked for a long time. We should be there soon.

Slowly.

We'll leave the hunting ground after we go through here.

Your Highness,

how did you know there was a path here?

It's not the first time I've got lost when hunting.

Did someone

attack you

when you hunted before?

If you ask more questions, it'll get dark before we reach the cave.

Be careful. There are snakes here.

There are snakes again?

Yanyi is still not back?

No, Your Highness.

It was time to assemble long ago,

but the Fifth Prince and Han Shiyi are still not back.

The Palace Guards have been looking

for them on the hunting ground.

I guess they've just got lost.

There are not fierce animals

around the hunting ground.

Don't worry too much.

How's Han Shiyi now?

Would she be in danger?

Cousin.

I need to be out for a while.

Wang Zhongyu,

are you going to look for Han Shiyi?

Cousin,

the Palace Guards have been looking for them.

It'll get dark soon.

If anything happens to you,

how can I tell my uncle?

Right.

Yes, Wang Zhongyu. Let's wait for them here.

It's a little damp.

Is it okay if we stay here?

Of course.

I've been in an army.

Sleeping outdoors is nothing

to the Han Army.

But I'm worried about them.

Mr. Zhou is not seriously injured,

but it's so damp here.

He'll suffer a lot if his would swells tonight.

There are so many assassins this time.

Prime Minister Wang must have sent all his men.

I'm afraid he won't give up easily

and he's bent on killing us at one stroke.

Yes.

If I go back alive,

Father will investigate the Palace Guards.

Even if Wang Anli can shift

all of the responsibility,

Father will be suspicious of him.

He'll lose Father's trust

and even lose

all his men planted in the Palace Guards.

Thanks, Mr. Shen.

Now that you know these,

why are you still so calm?

Actually,

I'm very worried, too.

Really?

Really.

You've hidden it so well.

I'm thinking

if I die,

you won't escape death, either.

But then again,

it's not a bad thing

to die with you.

Don't.

Can you not drag me in

when you talk about your death?

Thank you so much, Mr. Shen.

Besides,

your cousin is

waiting for you to come back.

My cousin?

Why did you mention her?

Mr. Zhou,

how's your arm?

Mr. Shen has bound it.

I'm okay.

I've brought some emergency food

in case we'll need it. Let's share it.

That's so thoughtful of you, Shiyi.

Here you go.

Thanks, Lord Han.

Here.

I...

It's really nice.

Prime Minister's Mansion

When I left,

Captain Peng had gone down the mountain to search for him.

He won't let him escape again.

That forest was inspected beforehand

and several batches of men were sent.

There's no possibility that he'll escape.

Peng Kun has failed several times.

Go back and tell him.

If he fails again, don't come back to see me.

His whole clan will go to hell with him.

Yes.

Sleep for a little longer.

I'll keep watch here.

I said I'd relieve you at one o'clock.

I'm always punctual.

Take it.

You always eat a lot. Keep it.

I'm not hungry.

You can just keep me company for a while.

You got it wrong, Your Highness.

I didn't come to keep you company.

If we're hunted by the assassins tomorrow,

there will be a fierce battle.

I was afraid you'd perform badly because of lack of sleep

and let the three of us be killed.

Lord Han,

did I offend you recently?

No.

Really?

Chu Xiangyue was brought up by my aunt.

If I punish her,

my uncle and aunt will be sad.

So I sent her to the Defender Duke's Mansion

but I wasn't shielding her.

It's okay.

She had it in for me because of you.

You can just stay away from me.

The Palace Guards made such a serious mistake.

Obviously someone among it

doesn't want the Fifth Prince to come back.

Everyone in the country

knows who he is.

The Palace Guards have great power and responsibility.

They can affect the imperial power.

If the Palace Guards and City Guards

rebel together,

the Imperial Palace and the capital will be in danger.

It's too late to recall the Palace Guards

and investigate them now.

I've sent Gongwei Army to take part in the search.

Those from the Palace of Dragon have also set out.

I believe Yanyi will come back safely.

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, Lord Ge needs to report something urgently.

Let him in.

Yes.

Your Majesty.

Stand up.

Your Majesty,

Prince Qi and the others have come back to the capital.

Prince Qi was hurt

and is resting at his house.

He said he'd see you later.

Tell him

to take his time

and have a good rest.

The north barracks of Gongwei Army sent word

that Prince Qi was ambushed

but luckily soldiers of the north barracks

came to his rescue.

Who's the commander of the north barracks?

Your Majesty,

it's my third son, Qi Tai.

It's him.

When he studied with Yanyi as a kid,

I thought he was an intelligent boy.

You flatter him, Your Majesty.

He's still young and inexperienced.

But I'm sure he's loyal to you.

What I can count on now

is your loyalty to me.

Father,

Yanyi has been out of luck this year

and has been attacked again and again.

This matter is either the doing of the State of Wei or Qiang.

We need to investigate it

and ask them to explain.

Even if we have to solve it with a war,

the State of Chen won't be afraid.

That's not what you said before.

You claimed that people who attacked you

were from our state.

Now the Fifth Prince was attacked on the hunting ground

and things haven't been made clear yet.

You said it was the doing of the State of Wei or Qiang.

I'm afraid we can't

be so dogmatic.

You're right, Marquis Jin.

We need to make a thorough investigation.

But the Palace Guards have been guilty of negligence.

Their leader, Ge Yun,

should be cashiered and brought to the Court of Justice.

His property could be confiscated and his clan could be beheaded.

But Father, you're kind and always lenient with old officials.

This is a matter of great importance.

A prince was almost assassinated, which is related to the state.

We should not only investigate people related to it

but also spare no effort to capture the real culprit.

The imperial hunting ground is a forbidden place

and they tried to kill the Fifth Prince there.

It shows there are still faults in defense of the capital.

The Palace Guards and the City Guards should both learn a lesson

and be cleaned up.

How did you know the real culprit wasn't captured, Prime Minister Wang?

Neither the City Guards nor the Palace Guards

have reported arrest of the real culprit.

I think...

Your Majesty,

it's true that they didn't capture the real culprit.

Who captured him, then?

Your Majesty,

soldiers in the north barracks of Gongwei Army

have rendered meritorious service.

Tell me about it in detail.

They disguised themselves as the Palace Guards.

How daring!

Wan Xiang.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Go to the Imperial Hospital now

and tell them to send the assassin to the Imperial Court of Justice

after they take out the poison in his mouth.

Yes.

Wait.

This matter concerns the royal family.

The Censorate, the Imperial Court of Justice

and the Ministry of Justice will hear the case together.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty,

my negligence almost caused

an irretrievable situation.

I didn't live up to your expectations.

I request to be tried in the Ministry of Justice.
