"The Heiress"

Episode 12

There are hidden weapons.

Protect Shiyi and Miss Chu.

Cousin

It looks familiar.

Lord Han, it's...

The assassin tries to lure His Highness away on purpose.

There must be a trap.

I'm going to back His Highness up.

Send Miss Chu home. Don't worry about me.

Yes.

Miss.

I don't know why he fights me,

but I can't kill him since he's Prime Minister Wang's son.

Your Highness.

Shiyi, don't go over there.

It's dangerous.

Get lost.

Your Highness.

Xinting.

He's intoxicated.

Here.

Well, open your mouth.

Don't move.

The medicine can only work on the heart.

Shiyi.

He's trying to deal with

the Fifth Prince with the eight diagrams.

The loophole is in the Zhen position.

Move one step forward in the Gen position. The Kun position will be ruined.

The third line of the Qian. The second line of the Xun. One step back in the Kan.

He's got poison under his tongue.

That's the Weiyuan Sect's trick.

Let's split up.

Sister.

Shiyi, run.

Sister.

Shiyi.

Are you all right?

Your Highness.

How's Xinting now?

Luckily he took the antidote you gave him in time.

He's fine now.

OK.

Thank you for getting there in time.

Even if I hadn't been there,

they wouldn't have been able to hurt Your Highness either.

You have to deal with military affairs every day.

But your Kung Fu is still outstanding.

I'm in awe of you.

Do you know the murderer?

I remember the birthmark on his hand.

Is he the killer that murdered your younger brother?

Yes.

I'll never ever forget him.

Shiyi, rest assured.

Believe me.

I'll avenge you.

Your Highness,

I don't dare to get you involved.

I'll do it myself.

Don't regard yourself as an outsider.

What happened ten years ago remains an enigma.

The man who tried to kill you today worked for the Wang family.

Peng Kun is working for Wang Anli now.

The Han Army

has been guarding over the border

and protecting the citizens for generations.

We've never thought

of involving ourselves into any factions.

But it turns out

we've become a thorn in the eyes of so many people.

Rest assured.

I'll seek justice for you.

Justice is nowhere to be found.

For the sake of the majority,

a few people have to make concessions.

That's how history goes.

Let's call it a day.

I guess you must be tired now.

Go and rest in the Western Chamber.

I'll call you when dinner's ready.

Your Highness,

the Warm Pavilion of the Western Chamber of the Mingyuan Hall

is for your future wife to dwell in.

I don't think it's appropriate for me to live there.

Please let me live in another room.

Don't care about that.

Just go and rest there.

We'll just keep things as they were in the past.

The Second Prince is hesitant.

He isn't Chen Yanyi's rival at all.

Only by getting rid of him

will the Second Prince have a chance to be the Crown Prince.

But the whole plan was ruined by you.

If you want to kill Chen Yanyi, just do it.

But I won't let you hurt Han Shiyi.

The Han family is neutral on this issue.

Han Shiyi has nothing to do with it.

He shouldn't get hurt when you strive for what you want.

I just don't understand

what tricks Han Shiyi has played on you

so that you don't even care about your whole family.

You intercepted the news

I sent to Qingzhou last time.

That's why we lost the initiative.

Played tricks on me?

How could Han Shiyi care about me since I'm the son of an evil minister?

An evil minister?

You think I'm an evil minister?

If Peng Kun dares to hurt Han Shiyi again,

I'll kill him at once.

Or you may order him to kill me first.

Bastard.

Your Highness.

I've heard

you didn't allow Jinzi and Yinzi

to enter the mansion yesterday?

Right.

They didn't protect you well

from the assassin that went to your mansion last time.

I've asked Ms. Ruyi to take care of you.

She used to take care of my mother.

How can that do?

My family hopes me

to have children in the future.

I can't go without them.

Stop pretending

in front of me.

Your Highness.

I've been playing Han Shiyi for ten years.

It's my instinct to play the role.

Now,

I can't even tell when I'm playing

and when I am not.

Your Highness, don't look at me like that.

I've been good being the heir.

I'll just be happy as long as I can.

You'll be happy forever.

Thanks for your auspicious words.

How about

you let the girls in now?

As long as you're happy.

Miss Chu, His Highness is working.

Cut the crap. Let me in.

Cousin.

What is it?

I'm going to see Consort Lan in the Imperial Palace.

I'm here to tell you now.

You don't have to tell me things like this in the future.

I'll worship aunt

once I go into the Imperial Palace.

Consort Lan is her aunt by blood,

but she calls her Consort Lan.

Empress Yuan is an aunt of her clan,

but she calls her as if she's her aunt by blood.

Miss Chu is really sophisticated.

Your nails may get hurt. Let me do it.

Your Highness, pine nuts taste the best

if you peel their skin off on your own.

Don't you need to go to the Imperial Study today?

It's time for you to go.

You may go first.

I'm not in a hurry.

Then I'm taking my leave now.

My aunt has no child.

She's been living with my aunt over the years

so that my aunt won't feel lonely.

Her own aunt is Consort Lan

who's the biological mother of the Seventh Prince.

I see.

That's the rule a big clan observes.

Once the wife's daughter is dead,

a concubine's daughter or a clansman's daughter will be chosen

and sent to the family

so that the wife's family and the husband's family can maintain their relationship.

Yes.

As my mother passed away,

the Chu family married Consort Lan into the imperial family.

Consort Lan has been keeping a low profile

in the imperial family over the years.

Is she living a good life?

The emperor doesn't like her.

He doesn't care about her.

I don't agree to what you said.

The emperor doesn't have many children.

After all, Consort Lan is the biological mother of the Seventh Prince.

The emperor was drunk back then

and took her as somebody else,

and that's why the Seventh Prince was born.

Somebody else?

Who was it?

The assassin was quite good at Kung Fu.

You need to be cautious when you're out.

Xinting hasn't recovered from the injury.

I'll let Ji Ye be with you.

I can't let you do that.

Ji Ye's your bodyguard.

How can you let him be with me?

Don't worry.

Jinzi and Yinzi can protect me.

I'll be safe.

I could have killed him.

But Wang Zhongyu pretended he was injured that day

so that the assassin ran away.

The assassin was good at Kung Fu.

I guess Wang Er isn't his rival.

Wang Er learned Kung Fu from the Weiyuan Sect.

Don't try to find excuses for him.

Your Highness.

When did I do that?

I think Wang Er

isn't interested in the partisan fight.

He didn't seem to have put on an act

when chasing the assassin.

Besides, I don't think Prime Minister Wang will be at ease

if Wang Er gets involved with his character.

You don't believe he'll kill you?

I didn't say that.

You don't believe it in your mind.

The day when you were in front of the stage,

what Wang Zhongyu said must have stricken your heart,

haven't it?

How could that be possible?

Your Highness, please don't say that.

Our Han family will never ally

with Prime Minister Wang.

Do you want me to take an oath?

It isn't Wang Anli that I'm talking about.

It's Wang Zhongyu.

Your Highness.

Please treat me as the son of the Han family

instead of a woman.

I'll never ever restore

my identity as a woman.

Shiyi.

How did it go? Were you all right last night?

I was fine.

Since Han Shiyi came to study in the Imperial College,

there hasn't been a single day going without troubles.

I think

Han Shiyi is just a vamp.

First he seduced the Fifth Prince.

Now he tries to seduce Wang Zhongyu.

He must have been possessed.

I wonder how this will come to an end.

Han Shiyi is a dangerous beauty.

Yes.

Now rumor has it

that Han Shiyi lives

in the Fifth Prince's mansion now.

And they've slept.

Really?

I wonder which one is better,

a male prostitute in the brothel

or the son of a duke?

Gu Wan.

Gu Wan, get up!

How dare you hit me?

So what?

Hit him.

-I... -Hit him.

Mr. Shen, stop.

You hit me?

Hit him.

Mr. Shen, you don't need to lower yourself to the same level as him.

What do you mean by that?

Han Shiyi did a thing like that.

And he's afraid that people may talk about it?

Fatty.

You're looking for death, aren't you?

Why are you looking at me?

I'm not the only one who said that.

Could you please use your brain before you talk?

Use my brain?

Wang Zhongyu.

You aren't mesmerized by him,

are you?

I'm your friend.

Shut up.

Shiyi.

I'm fine. Don't bother about them.

A man of sincerity can be oneself in the end.

One has to find the right path on his own.

Sincerity is needed in everything.

Without sincerity, everything is meaningless.

How dare you!

As students, you flirt in broad daylight.

Doctor.

When did you see us flirt?

Han Shiyi.

You ruined the studying atmosphere. Get out.

OK.

What are you doing here?

Can't you see?

I'm standing here for violation of the rules.

What have you done?

Tell me. I'll plead the doctor for you.

It's OK.

It was only a small matter.

Your Highness, just go in.

Look. You've sweated a lot.

And you don't want to tell me but bear it on your own.

Your Highness, just go in.

How dare you!

Han Shiyi.

You don't even discipline yourself when standing here.

Keep standing.

Your Highness, it's time for class.

Let's get in.

A man of sincerity can be oneself in the end.

One has to find the right path on his own.

Sincerity is needed in everything.

Without sincerity, everything is meaningless.

Hey,

why did the teacher let Han Shiyi stand there?

Your Highness, what else could it be?

They say Han Shiyi flirted with me

and ruined the studying atmosphere.

But if Your Highness wants to know the details,

I've got nothing to tell you.

After all, it's a little secret between Shiyi and me.

It seems

Wang Zhongyu has already known Shiyi's real identity.

Could it be

that he has fallen in love with Han Shiyi too?

Doctor.

I was late for class this morning.

I also violated the rules.

I offer to stand outside.

A prince falls in love with a heiress.

It's destined to be in vain.

Your Highness, what are you doing here?

I was late for class. I'm here to stand.

Are you doing that on purpose?

You may think so.

What?

I'm here to stand with you.

And you don't seem to be happy about that?

Your Highness.

Cut it out. Just go back into the room.

I don't need you to stand with me.

I've heard you flirted with another man.

I wasn't upset.

But you are unhappy now.

What are you talking about?

People may get you wrong after hearing that.

They may think I'm your man.

Aren't you my man?

I can't get it across to you.

Do whatever you want.

Let's talk later.

Prime Minister's Mansion

Chu Xiangyue of the Chu family

didn't come to the capital with a simple purpose.

Everybody knows

she's likely to be the Fifth Prince's consort.

Once she marries the Fifth Prince,

the Fifth Prince's strength will be greatly improved.

Then it will be very hard for the Second Prince to catch up with him.

Your Excellency,

is there any way

to prevent Chu Xiangyue from marrying the Fifth Prince?

I don't think we're capable

of preventing them from getting closer.

So let's not have a hand in it.

Why did you do that?

Xiyuan has been obstinate since she was a little girl.

I hope she'll drop the idea of marrying the Fifth Prince

once she knows the fact

so that she won't get hurt.

We can't prevent Chu Xiangyue from marrying the man,

but we can make the man she wants to marry

disappear.

Prince Qi's Mansion

It's hotter in the capital than in the western territory.

Go and fetch some iced sweet-sour plum juice in the kitchen.

OK, Miss.

Consort Lan isn't in favor with the emperor.

She even needs to rely on the Chu family to secure her status.

But she taught me how I should behave myself instead.

She's really overestimated herself.

Miss Chu.

I should have gone to visit you first.

But you're here to see me.

Here, please sit down.

Have some tea.

Miss Chu, you're graceful and pretty.

I think His Highness will have a change of heart.

You're flattering me.

You two are my cousin's love.

Don't say that.

We've been in the mansion for almost half a year.

But we've never got the chance to get close to His Highness.

His Highness has been mesmerized by the man vamp.

He never pays attention to us.

My cousin has so many things to attend to every day.

I don't think he treats you that way on purpose.

But why did you call

a man vamp?

It's embarrassed of us to talk about that.

The four of us women can't even triumph over a man.

Miss Chu, here's the thing.

We were sent by the emperor and the empress

to wait upon His Highness.

There were four of us.

The other two were sent away to other people by His Highness at will.

Why did he do that?

Because they offended Lord Han by accident.

That's right.

Han Shiyi has been living in the rooms

of the Mingyuan Hall.

They are for the future prince consort to live in.

It's shameless of him to live there with comfort.

I've seen Lord Han several times.

As my cousin's reading partner,

it's proper for him to live here.

He isn't His Highness's reading partner at all. He's his bedmate.

Don't say that.

That will ruin His Highness's reputation.

It's just that we're worried about His Highness

but there's nothing we can do about it.

That's why we're here to see you.

My cousin isn't a womanizer.

I think you've thought too much about it.

Lord Han is my cousin's close courtier.

It's understandable that my cousin pays more attention to him.

But that isn't the whole story.

A few days ago,

His Highness was so intimate with him in public.

They didn't even try to hide it from people.

Miss, Miss Wang has arrived.

She said she's here to see you.

Miss Wang?

She's the daughter of the Prime Minister.

Then she's a distinguished guest.

My cousin is out. I should treat her cordially.

Let her wait in the front hall. I'll be there right away.

Yes, Miss.

Prince Qi's Mansion

I've got things to do. Let's meet in the study later.

No. It's boring in the study.

I'll go and have fun myself.

Then see you later.

Miss.

You may leave.

Yes, Miss.

So is this Miss Wang?

And you're Chu Xiangyue?

Yes.

My cousin has gone to attend the morning meeting in the imperial court.

Please forgive me for my discourtesy

in coming here late.

Your cousin?

You are remotely related by blood.

And you're calling him as if he's your real cousin.

I've been calling him Cousin since I was a little girl,

and there hasn't been once that he didn't answer.

If you don't think it proper,

you may tell him directly sometime.

I wonder what it is

that you're here for.

I guess you've grown up in the wild of the western territory

and you aren't familiar with the rules of influential families in the capital.

How can a lady who's single

live in the mansion of a remote kinsfolk?

Besides, there isn't any senior member in the family.

Nor there's any hostess.

If you don't behave yourself,

it will bring shame on your family.

When did Wang Xiyuan become so reasonable?

I've been receiving teachings from the Wife of the Defender Duke

since I was young.

I do everything according to the rules of the Defender Duke's Mansion.

The Defender Duke General Chu guards over the border

and protects the country.

If he knows people in the capital that he protects

call him man of the wild,

what do you think will he think about that?

I didn't even mention General Chu. Don't be far-fetched.

Besides, you aren't

a real daughter of the Defender Duke.

You are only an orphan of his kinsman.

So what is it that you're here for?

To scold an orphan like me?

Though my parents have passed away, I'm still a person of the Chu family.

My uncle and aunt love me, and my cousin cares about me.

If they know you bullied me like this,

I don't think they'll let it go easily.

Don't overestimate yourself.

The Fifth Prince let you live here,

just because he pitied for you.

You're humble. Do you think you can play up to him?

She's fierce. No wonder of all the ladies in the capital, she's won the most attention

for so many years.

She's eloquent. Each sentence can hurt people much.

I seemed to have underestimated her.

She's like this

when she gives her talents to full play.

I've grown up with my cousin.

You may even say we're childhood sweethearts.

I think

that you're the one that wants to play up to him.

You...

How dare you hit me?

So what?

You're shameless.

Stop right there.

Let me go.

I didn't expect you are mesmerized by her either.

She really is a vamp.

You...

No, you're a vamp too.

You're sissy and you've seduced His Highness.

Miss Wang.

It's been a while since we saw each other last time.

Are you here to see me?

To see you? In your dreams.

Both...Both of you are vamps.

It turns out that the Prince Qi's Mansion provides shelter for vamps.

Miss Wang.

Look.

It's not right to hit people.

Let me see you out.

Let's go.

You want me to leave? No way.

I'll trample on you vamps today.

I...Just do it.

I can't deal with you. But I can get away from you.

See you. See you.

Someone. Get her.

Let me go!

Let me go!

Let me go!

Miss Wang.

I offered to see you out.

You didn't want to do that.

You see, I can't help you now.

It's none of my business.

Just go on. Go on.

If you leave like that after you hit me,

how can my cousin maintain his dignity?

Since you dared hit me,

it shows you didn't show any respect to my cousin at all.

What does that have anything to do with the Fifth Prince?

You're a vamp.

What are you doing?

Hitting people isn't right.

Let her go.

This is the Prince Qi's Mansion, not the Defender Duke's Mansion.

Don't you have any manners?

Let her go!

So you're speaking for an outsider?

I don't want to see any trouble brought to His Highness.

Chu Xiangyue, I'll kill you sooner or later. I...

Idiot.

Miss Chu.

Look, Miss Wang is hurt like that.

Just let me see her out now.

If things get serious,

I don't think you'll have a way to undo it.

Lord Han, please don't get me wrong.

It's because she talked bad about me and hit me.

I...I was too scared,

so...so I asked the servants to protect me.

I don't want to make trouble at all.

Well, how could you change your attitude all of a sudden?

And you even cried.

Your Highness!

Cousin!
