and I was ready to begin my new life.

My aunt hoped to prepare the way to my new existence after leaving the hospital

by having new clothes waiting for me.

But the change of sex was not an easy mental transition for me to make.

The image in the mirror seemed to be a stranger.

A stranger whom I would have to learn to know and understand.
