[narrator] It was another super snufflesome night

at the School of Roars,

and the little monsters were getting ready to share their shriekend news.

Oh, I hate shriekend news!

This weekend was the most boring weekend ever!

What's that, Wufflebump?

Oh, nothing.

Come on, then, it's shriekend news time!

Oh!

Rawr!

Good roaring, monsters. Rooaaar!

[all] Good roaring, Miss Grizzlesniff.

Rooaar!

Now's your chance to start the week with a smile.

Meepa, you're sitting really nicely. You can go first.

Well...

...I spent the weekend

doing squillions of super slimy art projects,

which I've brought in to show you.

These are my paintings.

-A growly cat... -[all] Oh!

-...a batpool match... -[all] Ooh!

-...my family... -[all] Wow!

-...a swamp garden... -[all] Oooh!

-...and a silly monster! -[all] Oooh!

I did some cooking at the weekend. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!

I helped my mummy make her world-famous

wibbly-wobbly jelly caterpillar!

Greener than the greenest monster and deeelicious! [slurps]

-[all] Yeah! -How fabulous, Yummble!

Up you come, Icklewoo.

We had my cousins to stay

and they are teen monsters.

[all] Wow!

The best thing we did was go to Monsterland.

We went on loads of fun rides -

the flappy dragon ride,

the splashy froggy ride

and the whizzy growler-coaster!

[all, clapping] Wow! That's monster-mazing!

Oh, that's wonderful!

You're next, Wingston.

I went to an amazing monster moves dance class. Watch this!

-[funky dance music plays] -Woo-woo!

[all] Wow! Whoa!

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Rarr! Rarr!

Whoa!

-[all cheer] -Oh, my claws!

That's super snufflesome, Wingston,

and that just leaves Wufflebump.

-Oh! -[bell rings]

Oh, saved by the bell!

We can have caterpillar jelly!

Oh! I didn't do anything amazing at the weekend.

Apart from chores.

So, I need to...

...make something up!

I'll make up the best shriekend news ever!

I...err...bought a rocket to see the monster in the moon!

No!

I was shipwrecked on a desert island,

where I wrestled treasure from a monster octopus!

No, that's not right.

I rescued a beautiful princess from a dragon,

who was as big as a...

[splutters]

-Roooaaar! -Ahhh!

No, no, no!

I can't just make things up.

But my weekend is just too boring to talk about.

There's only one thing to do.

Hide!

Rawr!

Oh. Hello, Wufflebump. Aren't you having jelly with your friends?

I'm not hungry, Miss.

Hmm... This isn't something to do with shriekend news by any chance?

Yes, Miss.

I don't have any exciting stories to tell.

I tried thinking one up but I couldn't do that even properly.

Oh, Wufflebump.

Your monster friends only want to hear your shriekend news

because it's yours.

They want to know what you do when you're not at school.

So, I should just tell the truth?

Yes!

Even if it sounds a bit boring?

Remember, they're your friends.

So, we have one final piece of shriekend news from Wufflebump.

[all cheer]

I didn't do much at the weekend.

Because Mummy and Daddy had so many jobs to do

we just stayed at home and did jobs.

You know how it is sometimes.

[all] Yes, we know what that's like.

It didn't start well.

Daddy got in a fight with a runaway hoover

and ended up being chased around the living room,

before it sucked up the curtains!

[all laugh]

Then, we had to collect up the bellybutton fluff

that Uncle Pooter left after his visit,

but we used it to stuff a giant cushion!

[all laugh]

Then, I cooked stinky slime with my mummy.

I accidentally added crispy toenail clippings

and Mummy ended up splattering it all over Daddy!

[all laugh, applaud]

Thank you, Wufflebump. You can take a seat.

[laughs]

So, did you enjoy that, class?

Yes, Miss!

Wufflebump's shriekend news was the best!

-The soup! -The cushion!

All of it!

-[all laugh] -Oh, I loved it, too, Wufflebump.

So, I'm going to give you a gold star for being yourself

and for being brave too.

-Well done! -[all] Yay!

[narrator] So Wufflebump learned

that it was best to be yourself and tell the truth,

and he realised that whatever might happen,

his monster chums would always be there for him.
