Original subtitles

Now, remember the rules, guys.

All the stuff on the sea floor is off limits by law, okay?

Aw! But I really wanted some old, dirty, wet trash.

THORN: (LAUGHING) It might look like trash,

but these objects were of great value to the people

who threw them into the sea over the centuries.

They dumped them overboard on purpose?

Ugh! People who are old are so lame.

Hey, hey, with the mocking of our ancestors underwater.

They considered it an offering.

To who?

Wow!

Look what I found!

Were you not listening to the thing with the rules and the ominous warning?

(SCOFFS) One little souvenir.

Who's gonna know?

MAN: Back to the ship!

(SCREAMING)

(GASPS)

(SCREAMING)

(THEME MUSIC PLAYING)

(ROARING)

SCOOBY-DOO: Scooby Dooby Doo!

-(CARIBBEAN MUSIC PLAYING) -(SHIP HORN BLOWING)

(DOLPHIN CHITTERING)

DAPHNE: Look at this ship! The S.S. Casey.

I can't believe cousin Scott actually pulled it off.

When we were kids, he used to dream about having his own ship,

like I used to dream about the Mystery Machine.

You used to dream about owning a van?

A high-tech, crime-fighting, mystery-solving van.

I don't know about this, guys.

Humans live on dry land for a reason.

Come on, Velma, you're not really afraid of water, are you?

Right, this coming from the guy who's afraid of widths.

It's hardly the same.

The human body is 60% water. We're practically made of it.

But how wide are we, huh?

Not very.

Don't worry, Velma, It's gonna be great.

Yeah. Like, there's probably a buffet!

There better be.

-I promise, we'll have the best time! -(SIGHS)

Hmm.

Sure hope you enjoy your stay.

-Scott! -Cousin Freddy!

Uh, sorry. Captain McDoon.

How about Captain Scott? Split the difference.

Welcome aboard the Casey.

-What do you think? -It's amazing!

-Great! -Beautiful!

-Terrifying. -It's incredible!

You actually did it!

Yep, I have my own cruise business,

and an exclusive route to some of the most beautiful spots on Earth.

And you? How's your, uh...

Spooky van?

The Mystery Machine.

It's great, thanks.

I'll tell you what's not great.

Life at sea!

It's cruel and unforgiving.

Um, who's that?

This is our cruise director, Wendy Palloy.

She's responsible for making sure all our passengers have fun.

Like, she's responsible for our fun?

I'll tell you what's fun.

Our shuffle-board court, open till 10:00.

And I'll tell you what's not fun.

Being doomed! Doomed to spend eternity at the bottom of the...

Okay, okay! We'll talk later.

We'll all talk later.

Is everything okay, Scott?

Uh, yes, of course.

Just the everyday stress of running your own cruise.

Doomed.

Why don't you guys settle in?

It's time to get (IMITATES A PIRATE) me ship under way.

-"Me ship"? -Excuse me?

You said, "It's time to get 'me ship' under way."

You sure the stress isn't getting to you?

What?

(LAUGHING) No, "My ship."

I said, "My ship."

I'll catch up with you guys later.

Hmm.

(CARIBBEAN MUSIC PLAYING)

Like, do you hear that?

Uh, what?

That!

The sound of no monsters, mysteries or mayhem.

It's beautiful!

The only thing missing is the sound of chewing!

To the buffet.

So, Velma, Daphne and I wanna do some diving.

Are you sure you don't wanna join us?

Yeah, come on!

Bribery Bay is supposed to be amazing!

No way! The only thing natural about a person swimming in the deep ocean,

is sharks eating them.

Velma, statistically, sharks attacking people is extremely rare.

Statistically, sharks attacking people

sitting safely on deck chairs, reading, is zero.

Ha! Statistics.

You're in my house now, son.

(SNAPS FINGERS)

Hi, guys. Welcome! Help yourselves.

It's all you can eat.

(BOTH LAUGHING)

SHAGGY: All we can eat!

(BOTH CONTINUE LAUGHING)

Hey, look! Dolphins!

How cool!

Hi!

Uh, yeah, keep it movin', Fred.

Wait, what... What's wrong?

(NERVOUSLY) Nothing! I just...

Look, Dolphins and I... Let's just say there's some bad blood.

There's bad blood between you personally and all dolphins?

Yes, that is correct.

Have you ever tried, uh, apologizing to them?

Oh, yeah. Sure, Fred.

Have you ever tried apologizing to a dolphin?

I've never had reason to!

(BOTH LAUGHING)

All you can eat!

(BOTH CONTINUE LAUGHING)

Okay, we're all set here.

Dahlia! You're not actually going in the water, are you?

Oh, Thorn! What, seriously? This again?

I saw it with my own eyes!

Your eyes play tricks on you, down there.

What did you see?

Oh, she's right.

It was probably nothing.

Exactly, trust me.

I wouldn't let you go if it wasn't perfectly safe.

Sounds good.

WENDY: Ya can't keep me quiet forever, Captain.

Lives are at stake!

It's too reckless to bring these poor souls through Bribery Bay.

My whole business is based on having

exclusive rights to this route.

No one else comes within miles of this place.

WENDY: Mark my words, there's evil beneath these waves.

SCOTT: You're always talking about evil.

The only thing beneath these waves is more waves.

And then the sea floor, I guess.

WENDY: If you won't heed my warning,

then at least listen to your own dive master.

Thorn saw the beast with his own eyes!

(VELMA SIGHS)

Come on, Wendy.

Thorn just let the legend surrounding Bribery Bay get to him.

-This is the 21st century. -(VELMA GRUNTS)

If we give up this exclusive route, that's it!

My business is finished!

And what happens to your precious business

when more divers get attacked by ferocious sea monsters?

Divers?

Oh, no! Fred and Daphne!

All we can eat. Ha!

Yes, all you can eat.

(ALL CHUCKLE MENACINGLY)

(ALL GASP)

-Good. -Hmm.

-Yeah. -Hmm?

Velma?

We should go. We'll be back later.

Get more food.

DAHLIA: Stay in eyeshot, kids.

DAPHNE: Wow, look at this place!

I've never seen anything like it!

Hey, check this out!

I think this is a gold doubloon.

Don't touch it! Remember, this is a protected historical area.

Whoa, it's cool. I wasn't gonna touch it.

I wonder how much more of this is down here.

(VOICE SHAKING) Fred!

I don't believe it. Watch out!

-Swim! -(SCREAMING)

(TENSE MUSIC PLAYING)

(GROWLING)

(BOTH PANTING)

(COUGHING) We made it.

-What was that thing? -I have no idea.

I don't believe it! I don't believe it!

(BREATHLESSLY) Guys, stay out of the water!

There's some kind of sea monster down there!

We just met.

(PANTING) Like, what's going on?

We saw Velma running.

It's okay, guys.

We just saw some kind of sea creature down there.

Velma, how did you know?

I think we need to have a little chat with Cousin Scott.

Arr, I'm sorry, Freddy.

I would never knowingly put you, or anyone in danger.

I mean, a sea monster?

It just sounded ludicrous. Arr.

-Hmm. -I'll tell you what's ludicrous.

Ignoring the legend of this place

and leading us all to a watery end.

We're doomed, I tell ya!

Doomed!

Doomed!

Doomed.

Seriously, she's not fun at all.

I'm not about to destroy my childhood dream over a silly myth.

-Myth? -He's talking about Bribery Bay.

I've been doing a little reading about its history.

We're not the first ship to get into trouble here.

According to myth, this area is the home to sea creatures...

(ROARING)

...that don't take kindly to trespassers.

(WOMAN SCREAMING)

There are records going back to ancient times,

of ships being attacked and sunk,

for daring to enter this bay.

Over time, a legend developed

that the only way to pass safely through these waters

was to offer your most valued possession to the sea creatures

by throwing them overboard.

Of course, not everybody wanted to give up their valuable possessions,

and they paid a far bigger price.

Obviously, the lesson here is human beings should stay on dry land.

Wait, isn't the lesson more about mankind's greed and materialism?

Nope. Dry land.

Actually, have you ever considered how wide the ocean is?

Give it up, Fred.

Like, uh, we'll be right back.

Like, here you go fellas!

All of our possessions!

Knock yourselves out.

Ay, perhaps Wendy was right.

We should set sail for safer harbors.

Uh, Scott, I couldn't help but notice that you've been...

Well, peppering your speech with a lot of old, salty,

sea-faring language, kind of stuff.

What are ye talkin' about?

Look, right there! You see?

You just did it. You said, "Ye."

Freddy, this is hardly the time to joke around.

No, wait! I've read about this.

It's another one of the great dangers of water.

Life at sea can be stressful and hard.

With everything that's going on,

I believe your cousin Scott is becoming

prematurely grizzle.

That has to be the silliest thing

I've ever heard in me life, lassie.

-(EXPLOSION) -(ALL YELLING)

(ALARM RINGING)

Arr! Sounds like me ship's been scuttled.

-Captain? -What's going on?

The turbine on engine three beneath the ship seems to be damaged.

(BEEPING)

What could have caused that?

It's the sea monster, I tell ya!

We're doomed! Doomed.

She came highly recommended.

Arrgh.

There's got to be a logical answer.

We should investigate before assuming mythical sea creatures

sabotaged the engines.

I'll go. I have the most experience diving.

If any repairs need to be made,

the Captain can talk me through 'em.

Then I'm going with you, Thorn.

We'll monitor ye from the bridge.

Good luck, mateys.

Arr! Good luck, mateys.

Yeah, look right there. There's a piece missing.

THORN: Yeah, this wasn't caused by hitting coral.

-Something clearly removed the... -(DAHLIA GASPS)

THORN: Dahlia?

(ALL GASP)

Arr, that could've gone better.

We've got to help them!

You're right, Daphne. Let's go!

They're professional divers. How can you help them?

With my childhood dream!

See?

You smuggled your spooky van aboard me ship?

The Mystery Machine.

And yes. You never know when she'll come in handy.

Like, the Mystery Machine is a girl?

How can you tell?

Fred, we're stuck out in the middle of the sea.

How exactly is a van going to help us?

Come on! I'll show you.

Ready?

ALL: Huh?

Fred, um...

Arr?

Fred, what are you doing?

Fred!

(ALL YELLING)

(ALL SCREAMING)

Submarine mode.

SHAGGY: Like, cool! SCOOBY-DOO: Cool!

No, not cool!

Very far from cool!

Humans don't belong underwater.

Vans belong underwater even less.

Humans in vans underwater?

Well, I'm sure you see where I'm going with this.

Don't worry, Velma, we're perfectly safe.

Hey, look! There's the broken turbine!

How does a sea monster sabotage a ship engine?

More importantly,

what will prevent them from doing the same to the Mystery Machine!

Hey, it looks like there's bolts missing.

I don't see any sign of Thorn and Dahlia.

-We'll find 'em. -Like, hey, I see something shiny down there.

Shiny is good.

Most of the stuff down here is tarnished from being underwater for so long.

Could be a clue.

ALL: Whoa!

DAPHNE: There it is!

Huh, it's a wrench.

So now the sea monster has tools?

Not anymore.

Let's retrieve it.

Oi, almost.

Come on, Fred, you can do this!

(ALL ENCOURAGING INDISTINCTLY)

(ALL GIVING INSTRUCTIONS)

(ALL GIVING INSTRUCTIONS)

Just let me do it. I've got it.

Yeah!

Like, guys, I see another shiny something!

Let's grab that one, too.

-Oh, no. -(ALL GROAN)

(ALL INSTRUCTING INDISTINCTLY)

It's a doubloon.

A balloon?

A doubloon!

Doubloons are gold coins from 16th century Spain.

They're worth a lot of money.

It's like the one Fred found when we were diving.

Look! There's a trail of doubloons

leading into that old pirate ship.

-Let's follow it. -Splendid.

Nothing ever goes wrong when you drive a van underwater into a sunken pirate ship.

Keep your eyes open.

VELMA: Really, Fred?

(ENGINE STALLING)

-It'll start. Come on, come on, come on! -It?

I thought the Mystery Machine was a girl!

Not when I'm annoyed with "It".

-Start! -Please, everyone,

no one say anything about,

"At least it can't get worse." (SHRIEKS)

(ALL EXCLAIM)

Like, great work, Velma!

Yeah, Velma.

(BANGING)

Well, at least now it couldn't get worse.

Water!

More water!

(ALL SHOUTING)

We have to evacuate the van.

Everyone! Put on your diving suits!

-Good. -No. No suiting up for me.

I don't swim. I'm just not ectothermic.

In about two minutes, you won't have a choice.

(WHIMPERING) Uh, okay, listen.

Here's the truth.

I can't swim.

You see, it all started when I was a young kid...

Velma! No time. Water rising.

Trapped in van-sub.

At least the monster's out there.

ALL: Velma!

Sorry!

Put your suit on, Velma. I've got a plan.

-Really? -Really?

-Scooby is the strongest swimmer here. -(WINDOW SMASHING)

(GROWLS)

We have to go! Swim! Swim!

(I'M DONE PLAYING)

(BOTH GASPING)

Not now. Shoo!

(I'M DONE CONTINUES PLAYING)

(LOUD CRASH)

I'm sorry about your spooky van, Freddy.

The Myst... (SIGHS)

It's... It's okay, Scott.

I'm sorry about your ship and your grizzling.

You know, I think the air tank we rode up on might be a clue.

Yeah, like it did seem awfully cluey.

-Agreed. -Ay. But, Freddy, what does it all mean?

I'm not sure yet, but I have a plan.

It's time to go fishing.

-Yay! -Yay!

For sea creatures!

-Oh! -Oh!

Like, we walked right into that.

Mystery Machine, you're not gonna like this, but,

we have to go back into the bay.

Uh-uh, not me.

I'm done with water. I'll be staying on the boat.

Well, before I go, there's something I need to take care of.

Listen, dolphins.

I know we've had our differences,

but it's time we put all this silliness behind us.

I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong.

So,

here's the $15 I owe you.

Okay, right. I have no idea if that worked.

You know how dolphins are.

-(ELECTRONIC BEEPING) -Huh?

(RAPID BEEPING)

FRED: Got him!

-Got one of them. -What?

There's two?

(DOLPHINS CHITTERING)

Thank you!

-(GROWLS) -(ALL EXCLAIM)

(GASPS)

(SCREECHING)

-(ROARS) -(ALL SCREAM)

Huh?

Huh?

ALL: Velma!

Sorry!

Ha! "Velma" me now, son.

Good work! I'm already feeling like

a great burden has been lifted off me shoulders.

I'm glad, Cousin Scott.

Now let's see who our sea creatures really are.

Ay! Dive masters, Thorn and Dahlia?

Of course!

Only the S.S. Casey is allowed in Bribery Bay,

so Thorn and Dahlia could illegally scavenge the sunken ships for treasure.

And dressing as sea monsters from legend was the perfect cover.

It kept people out of water, so no one would discover what they were up to.

To stall for time while they collected and hid the treasure,

the bolts from the ship's engine were removed.

Then, they faked their own abduction.

Unfortunately for them,

they dropped the wrench they used to sabotage the ship.

The gold doubloons we found were dropped by Thorn and Dahlia

as they snuck the pirate treasure up to the S.S. Casey.

VELMA: And the huge air tank was reserved for the fake monsters

to refill their tanks,

so they could stay underwater longer.

THORN: And we would've gotten away with selling the doubloons

and making millions if it weren't for you meddling kids.

Take these guys away.

Well, now that's all behind us, who's up for some fun?

Like, I could certainly go for more of that buffet.

Yeah, we never did have all we could eat.

CHEF: You will, soon.

Bring it in, boys.

-Let's do this. -Word.

I'm just gonna go continue being utterly terrified of water.

Well, Daphne, I'm glad the dolphins accepted your apology

and there's no more beef between you and sea creatures.

(WHIMPERING)

(WHIMPERING)

(GASPS)

Yep. (NERVOUS LAUGHTER) You said it.

No beef between me and all sea creatures.
