will compete for just two places in the "World" final.

I felt like there was so many things going on

sometimes that I didn't know where to look.

where I was like, "Okay, where do I look, what am I doing?"

But other than that, perfect performance.

so there were some parts

where some musicality was slightly missed for me.

There was a part where you guys kind of did this‐‐

I call it the Shiva thing now, where it's like

one is in the middle, and there's all the arms.

And it was like a... [vocalizes]

But the music didn't do that.

But then there was a place in the beat where it was...

[imitates percussions]

And it's like that was where... [vocalizes]

That's where it would've made the most sense.

is that our eye tends to instantly find her

I still kind of have that issue just a little bit.

In some of the tricks, I could see your effort a little.

That's really the only thing that I could critique at all.

For me, Jefferson, this time

was very in step with Adrianita,

especially in the dancing parts.

‐ And I think that's the sign of a great partner,

'cause as a guy, we're here just to frame,

and just to honor the lady, and just be her guide

the whole way through‐‐

some of the steps lack a little originality,

and that worries me for you guys.

Like, I was waiting on that moment that made me go,

"That's GRVMNT." I didn't get that moment.

‐ Moving from the warehouse to the "World of Dance" stage,

that change in scenery is unreal.

The entertainment value and the production level

goes so much further up through the roof

that we on our end have to step up just as much.

[solemn music]

I came to "World of Dance" to show the world me, really.

You know, I went through a lot as a kid,

so I didn't trust myself as a dancer

to put myself out there,

but now I truly am open

and want to showcase what I have to offer.

‐ Kurtis Sprung‐‐he is an exceptional dancer.

His dancing is athletic, it's strong, it's emotional.

He's connected to it.

He loves it so much

that you just‐‐ you just feel that.

‐ So this piece for the semifinals

goes through this period

where my father and I just didn't understand each other.

I was dealing with a lot of bullying and a lot of abuse,

and when I would get home,

I just wanted to be able to have someone to talk to.

‐ ♪ Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I love you ♪

‐ But my dad is somebody who expected a lot out of me,

so he would look at me and be like,

"I need you to be strong."

And I was just thinking, like, "Why is he not listening to me?

I have so much going wrong."

‐ ♪ Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I love you ♪

‐ I would go upstairs, and you know, you shut the door,

and you just stay in there, and the more

you shut the door, the more the problems fester inside.

‐ ♪ Know that I, know that I still care for you ♪

‐ Now that I'm an adult, I look back, and I realize

that he saw potential in what I could become.

He was one of the hardest workers I ever saw,

and he made me want to be the best

because he expected it out of me my entire life.

‐ The semifinals are gonna be epic,

and you have to know that if you don't make it

through this round, you were that close,

and that's gonna stay with me the most.

‐ So growing up, as a kid,

at school, I was bullied a lot.

And you come home, and my dad was trying

to be the best that he could to be a dad,

but at 10 years old, I didn't understand that.

And I was so stressed with everything else

that I just wanted to fight back.

And we didn't have a great relationship for a long time.

And I think for me, this was an opportunity

to actually release it off my chest,

and say we've opened the door,

we're not shutting those feelings out anymore.

But we're talking about it, and him and I are great now, so...

‐ Hmm.

[cheers and applause]

‐ Kurtis, well, you know, I was trying to figure out the piece,

and then the lyric.

I heard, "I am not your son and you're not my‐‐"

‐ "Father." ‐ "My father."

‐ "We're just two grown men saying goodbye."

‐ Right, and that hit me because...

[sighs] I'm gonna segue really fast

because I don't wanna get too emotional, but‐‐

‐ Get emotional. ‐ I'm not‐‐

And there's moments where I literally thought, like,

"Oh, my gosh, he's gonna fall over,"

because you were hitting it so hard.

You were throwing yourself so just, like, recklessly,

but that piece calls for that recklessness.

I kind of understand that the piece

called for this angst and this constant movement,
