WelcometoTheBeaverton,

I'mtwo-timedefendant, EmmaHunter.

AndI'mtwo-timeplaintiff, MiguelRivas.

TheLiberalgovernment ispromising

Fordecades, theIndianActhaspresented

oneofthemostcomplex problemsinCanadianpolitics.

Apieceofraciallegislation originallymeanttodestroy

theindependence andculturalidentity

ofFirstNationspeoples,

itisalsooneof thefewdocumentsthat

enshrinestraditionalrights.

Luckily,aswithallother indigenousissues,

theTrudeaugovernment hascomealong

andfixedtheentirething.

OurownMarillaWexreports.

Inadeftpoliticalstroke, theTrudeaugovernment

hasfoundaway tokeeptheIndianAct

whilealsomaintaining Canada'scredentials

asanation withracialequality.

They'vedeveloped apieceoflegislation

liketheIndianAct,

foreverysingleother raceandethnicity.

Sincetakingoffice,

thegovernment hascreatedstatutes

liketheCraftyJewAct, theFieryLatinoAct,

andthe(WHISPERING) BlackPeopleAct.

I'mnotjustsayingit likethat,

thatistheofficialname ofthedocument.

EverybodyinCanadaisequal,

regardlessofwhether thegovernment

tookyourchildrenfromyou,

orgaveyourland toaminingconsortium.

AsaJewishperson,

whatcanIexpect fromtheCraftyJewAct?

Well,likewith theIndianAct,

yournamewillbeputon alistofotherJewsand...

That'sthelegalterm...

Andyou'llbeissuedacard identifyingyouasaJew.

Isuspectthatwillmake mostJewishpeople

extremelyuncomfortable.

Uh,yeah,Iguess.

LikeintheIndianAct, everyonewillnowbegranted

accesstodesignated socialservices

basedon whetherornottheyqualify

forso-called"status."

Toexplainhowitworks,

thegovernment producedthisvideo.

PHILPAULSON:Notsofast

withthatdelectable gabagool,Vinny.

Didyouknow youmightnotbeItalian?

OfcourseIam. Whothefuckareyou?

PHIL:Actually,Vinny, eventhoughyou,

yourparents, andyourgrandparents

wereallraisedItalian,

oneofyourgreat-grandparents wasDutch,

andtwoofthemwereborn ontheFrenchborder.

-So? -So,liketheIndianAct,

theStinkin'ItalianActsays

thatyoucan'thave Italianstatus

unlessyouhave onefullItalianparent,

ortwohalfsies. Solegally,you'renothing.

Theninafewgenerations, nobody'sgonnabeItalian?

Exactly.Andoncenobody islegallyItalian,

LittleItalywillrevert tothegovernment,

andwecanfinally sellthelandit'sbuilton

toanaturalgascompany.

-(SPEAKINGITALIAN) -(LAUGHS)

Careful.Now, ifyou'renotItalian,

thenwhatrightdoyou havetobeCatholic?

Thisnewpolicy isnotwithoutitsproblems.

Canada'swhitepeople havebegunprotesting,

aftersomehowgettingtheidea thatitusestaxpayermoney

tobuyeveryethnicminority freecigarettes.

ForTheBeaverton, I'mMarillaWex.

Thanks,Marilla. Youremain,asever,

ourmost Britishcorrespondent.

ThestateofTexas saysthatanewlaw

allowingteachersto carrygunsatschool

hasresultedin a1000%increase

incompleted homeworkassignments.

Theso-called "campuscarry"bill

wasenactedlastAugust,

inabidtoincrease schoolsafety

atthebehestofthestate's mostconcernedparentgroup,

theNRA.

Whilethepresence ofarmededucators

hasnotdecreased school-relatedviolence,

ithasresulted inanunprecedentedincrease

inteacherswhofeel likeabigman.

Afterthebreak...

Heknowswhenyouarenaughty, heknowswhenyouarenice.

IsSantaClaus dataminingyou?

WOMAN:Themorningafter yourbirthcontrolfails,

you'reprobably feelinglikeyou'reallalone.

Butguesswhat?You'renot.

Infact,chancesarethat severalwomenjustlikeyou

areatyourlocalpharmacy rightnow,

buyingupalltheplanBpills

beforeyoucanget yourhandsonthem.

Thepharmacywillordermore,

butwhoknowshowlong that'lltake?

Inthemeantime, there'sPlanC.

PlanCisanall-natural birthcontrolalternative

thattakes yournewly-fertilizedembryo,

andgentlyplacesit ontothewaitlist

ofthoseimpossible-to -get-intodaycares.

Intheeventthat you'reunabletoprevent

yourpregnancyfromoccurring,

PlanCreducesyourchances ofhavingtoquityourjob,

orhireananny, byasmuchas5%.

Wait,5%?That'sit?

WOMAN: Sideeffectsincludepoverty,

unlicensedfacilities, andinsomecases,diddlers.

Youknowwhat,I'lljustgo toanotherpharmacy.

-(BABYCRYING) -WOMAN:Goodcall,sister.

Whiletheplanofmarooning Britishcriminalsonanisland

wasgoodintheory,

inpractice, it'sbeenadisaster.

Millennialsfacerecordlevels ofdebtandunemployment.

Butistherehope forthislostgeneration?

WegonowtoRickRoberts,

themanwhohasbeen ouryouthcorrespondent

forthreedecades.

RICK:Millennials.Howdid theyscrewitupsobadly?

I'mheretoshowthis generationhowtogrowup.

AndI'mgoingtodoit bybecomingoneofthem.

Stepone,getagoodeducation tostandoutfromthecrowd.

Yo.Hello.IsthisHarvard?

Iwouldliketoregister foryourbusinessschool.

Ihave,uh,threequarters ofahighschooldiploma.

WheredoImail my$200tuition?Hello?

RICK:Onsecondthought, millennialsareover-educated.

Stophiding inyourivorytower.

Getyourhandsdirty.

Afactoryjobhelpedme makesomethingofmyself.

Okay,whathappened tothefactoryhere?

Outsourcing. Andlattemacchiatos.

Thatwasasetback.

Butunlikeamillennial,

Ihaven'thaditeasy mywholelife,

soIwasn'tgoingtogiveup.

Remember,you'renot toogoodforanyjob,

justbecauseyouwere raisedtothink

thatyou'reaspecial, littlesnowflake.

Iwanttosettleforthisjob.

I'mnottakingno forananswer.

Ican'thireyou.

Youdon'tknow anythingaboutcoffee.

SureIdo.

It'sfree,andmysecretary bringsittome.

RICK:Thingswerelookingbad,

butasIalwaystell youngpeople

whoIassumewantme togivethemadvice,

themostimportantthing istonetwork.

Hey.Hey,Dave. (LAUGHSNERVOUSLY)

Youoldbastard.

Look,doyoustillown thatcoffeekiosk

intheoldautofactory?

Sowhat'sthestarting salaryhere?

Well,mybosssaid Ihadtohireyou.

Mmm-hmm.

Butthere'snomore roomonthepayroll,

sowelcometotheworld's firstcoffee-shopinternship.

Sowhat,like,50,000ayear?

God.Atthatrate, it'sgonnatakeme,

atleastsixmonths tobeabletobuyahouse.

Uh,it'sunpaid.

RICK:Iwasoutraged

thatmillennials hadcreatedasystem

whereyouhavetowork fornomoney.

Buttherewasanupside.

Partofgrowingup isfindinganicegirl

andsettlingdown.

Let'squitthisdead-endjob. Let'sgetaWinnebago.

Let'sdiscoverAmerica.

Ihaveamountain ofstudentdebt.

-So? -Gascostsafortune,

andyou'reoldenough tobemy...

Well,you'reoldenough tobedead.

Clearly...

RICK:Clearly, datinghadchanged.

Iwasgoingtohaveto updatemystrategy.

Maybethereweresomethings

thatmillennials weregettingright.

(SIGHING)

Okay,forgetaboutthatthing withtheWinnebago.

HowaboutyouandI, wejusttinder?

Whydoesthesamething literallyhappen

everyplaceIwork?

RICK:Apaidposition atthecoffeeshop

hadfinallyopenedup.

Well,thatwas aninspiringjourney,

goingfrom anunemployed20-something

toVPofmyveryown coffeechain.

AndImostdef learnedsomething

duringmytime asamillennial.

Nevertoretire. Man,itishardoutthere!

AndifIcycleout oftheworkforce,

who'sgoingtosupport myunemployedmillennialson?

ForTheBeaverton, I'mRickRoberts.Yo!

Thanks,Rick.

It'ssorefreshing toseeababyboomer

withthecourage tocalloutmillennials.

ToOttawanow,

wherethingshavegottentense atthelocalfarmer'smarket,

aseverysinglevendor

hasdecidedtorun tobeleaderoftheNDP.

Sourcessay,PatriciaBernier,

proprietorofProducePat vegetablestand,

jumpedtoanearlylead

aftershegaveaneffective campaignspeech/slam-poem.

Butthatevaporatedwhen artisanalsausage-maker,

RonPritchett, threwhishatintothering.

Pollsshowedthetwo runningneck-and-neck,

withPatriciabeingendorsed bytheveganbakersunion,

andRondominating amongstmilitantcyclists

anddadswhosekids justwanttogohome.

However,therace wasthrownintochaos

wheneveryother marketvendor,

includingJantheJam-maker, BigCheeseSteve,

andthatladywhomakes ornate,woodenbirdcages,

alsodeclared.

Comingupafterthebreak, meetthedadwhodoesn'tknow

whattogethisweirdson forChristmas.

Youknow, Iwastheweirdson.

EMMA:Iknow.

Laterthishour,

thenation'sstudents areshockedtodiscover

intoasexdungeon.

MIGUEL:Celebrities arerunningoutoftime

EMMA: Andwe'llshowyoutenways

togetriledupaboutGMOs,

eventhoughyoudon'treally knowwhattheyare.

Theholidaysarejust aroundthecorner,

andthatmeansnavigating

thesocialminefield ofgift-giving

withoutsettingoff certainco-workers.

Whywouldyoueverthink I'dwantadonation

madeinmyname totheJaredFogleFoundation?

Luckily,ourfestive financialexpert,

LauraCilevitz, isheretohelpout.

-Hi,Laura. -Thanksforhavingme,Emma.

Miguel.

Weallhavesomeone onourgiftlist

who'sdifficulttoshopfor.

Butforthose inthelobbyingindustry,

therealquestionis, whatdoyouget

tobuyoff theMemberofParliament

whohaseverything?

Iaskmyselfthatquestion everyelectioncycle.

No,holdonasecond. Aren'tMPsbound

bystrictregulationson conflictsofinterest?

Iknow, itdrivesmecrazytoo.

But,thegoodnewsis,

MPsonlyhaveto publiclydisclosegifts

of$500ormore.

Sothankfully, nopublicwatchdog

willbataneye atthisfestivegiftbasket

withajarofapplebutter andanoveltycheckfor$492.

Youthinkyoucanbuy influencewithapplebutter?

Ofcoursenot.(SCOFFS)

Luckily,that'swhy theyinvented

-seasonticketstotheLeafs. -EMMA:Oh.

Thoseare thousandsofdollars.

Iknow!Suchabargain.

Fortunately,parliamentary ethicsonlycover

politiciansandtheir immediatefamilies.

So,aninnocuous $15,000present

toyourMP'sbestfriend, andwhicheverpolitician

theywanttotake tothehockeygame,

won'traiseanyeyebrows.

Finally, newsyoucanactuallyuse.

No.Thisiscompletelywrong.

Actually,Miguelbringsup agreatpoint.

WhatdoyougetfortheMP whorefusestobebought?

Thatisnotmypoint.

Thegiftthatkeepsongiving,

clandestinephotographs oftheirluridaffairs!

Ofcourse.Thanks,Laura.

Fromroundbouncingballs, toovalthrowingballs,

todisk-shapedballs thatflyatyourface,

it'stimeforanupdate fromtheboys

attheBeaverton SportsNetwork.

Evening,andwelcometo theBSNupdate.

He'sPat,I'mLuke, andneitherofus

havereadabook inthelastdecade.

Let'sgetintoit.QuebecCity triestoattractNHLexpansion

withanew, sluttyarenadesign.

TheNewYorkMetsare lobbyingtheHallofFame

toendthesnub andfinallyelect

theMVPoftheir '86WorldSeries,

agiantbagofcocaine.

AndinMajorLeague Soccer'slatestattempt

toreachwhite Americanfootballfans,

afteraregion-specific ethnicslur.

BSNisproud tobringyoucoverage

ofthe2017season-opener,

astheLAAnchorBabies takeon

theSaltLakeSisterFuckers.

Aclassicinthemaking.

Butfirst,theWorld JuniorHockeychampionships,

Canada'sfavorite timeoftheyear

todissectthephysical andemotionaldeficiencies

ofagroupofteenagers.

Joiningusliveviasatellite todiscusshowourboys

andcurrentgas-station attendant,PerryUpton.

-Thanksforcoming,Perry. -Thanksforhavingme.

Hey,so,Perry, whatchancedoyouthink

ourboyshavethisyear tocomeawaywiththegold?

Well,mostexpertshaveus asthefavorites,

butifyouaskme, theywon'tevenmedal.

Arewelosingground inthetalentpool

totheAmericans?

Arewenotasdedicated tosystemsastheFinns?

(SCOFFS)No.Ourdominance attheWorldJuniors

endedalmostadecadeago, whenJuniorHockey

startedcrackingdown onhazing.

It'strue,Canadahasonly comehomewiththegoldonce

inthelastsevenyears.

Yeah,man,backwhen wedominatedinthe'90s,

ourrookieswereable tocompeteinthetrenches

becauseweforcedthem intonakedfightclubs

incoachbuswashrooms.

Now,that'sagoodpoint.

Imean,howcanyouimprove yourshootingaccuracy

ifyoudon'ttieabucket toeachother'sgenitals

thentakeslapshots intothatbucket?

Exactly.Andbelieveme, Iknowfromexperience

howfararitualistic circlejerkwillgo

towardsbringinghome thegold.

Okay,now, what'sthebenefitofthat?

Teamunity?Trust?

Noman,youjustget tohaveacirclejerk.

Well,Iguess themainpointhereis,

wewishourboyswell.

Bringhomethegold andmaybeyou'llgetgirls

totouchyourjunktoo.

Uh,nogirls inthecirclejerk.

TheNFLiscrackingdown ondomesticviolence.

Theleague'snew personalconductpolicy

givesaseason-longsuspension

toanyplayer whocommitsanassault,

aslongastheyare notactuallyimportant

totheirteam'ssuccess.

TheCompetitionCommittee hasoutlined

stringentbenchmarksnecessary tostayonthe53-manroster.

Forinstance,ifarunning backhitshiswife,

hemustbecomingoffatleast 1,000-yardseason.

It'saclearmessage toplayersthat,

ifthey'regoingtobe involvedinabhorrent

off-fieldincidents,

theybettermakesure tomaketheProBowl.

Theleaguewillnolonger toleratethiskindofbehavior

fromanyonewhoisn't aSuperBowlwinningQB.

ButGodhelphimifhe smokesalittlemarijuana

duringtheoffseason.

That'sagreatpoint,Pat. You'redoingafantasticjob.

That'swhatyourMom saidlastnight.

Iknow.Shegivesmenotes onallourbroadcasts.

Well,that'sabout allthetimewehave

forthisBSNupdate.

TuneintoSportsdeskat11:00 forfullcoverageofQatar

beingawarded the2026WinterOlympics.

Turningtohealthcare,

moreCanadiansthanever arebeingdiagnosed

withmentalillness.

Yet,fundingforcare continuestoplummet.

Joiningusliveviasatellite todiscusshowHealthCanada

planstoaddress thismountingproblem

ishealthcareconsultant, JamesLillian.

Thanksforhavingme.

Doesthegovernment haveaplantoaddress

thementalhealth-carecrisis inourcountry,James?

Absolutely.Ournewprogram isgoingtodramaticallylower

ratesofmentalillness inCanada,

byreclassifying anumberofconditionsas

"delightfuleccentricities."

Doesthatmean theywon'tgettreatment?

Theywon'tneedtreatment.

Underthenew diagnosticguidelines,

sufferersofchronicanxiety

willnowbeconsidered "worrywarts."

Obsessive-compulsives willbe"TidyTerrys,"

andthosesufferingfrom whatusedtobecalled

clinicaldepression, willnowjustbedealingwith

"aprolongedcase oftheMondays."

Isn'tthisjustaform ofdiagnosticwhitewashing?

Look,arewecynically usingsemantics

toshirk ourresponsibilities?Sure.

Arewewalkingaway frompeoplewhoneedus?

Absolutely.

Howmuchmoney isthisgoingtosaveus?

Tons.

Doesn'tourmedical communityhaveaduty

totreatallCanadians?

Butdon'tyousee?

Havingfewerpatients willallowfacilities

tobetterallocate theirexistingresources

withouthaving tospendadime.

That'stheentirepurpose ofsingle-payerhealthcare.

Butwhataboutthepeople whogetturnedaway?

Won'twehavemorepeople slippingthroughthecracks?

Sure,uh,butit'sbestto thinkofthesecrack-slippers

asthequirkyaunts, complexartists,freespirits,

andmathematicalgeniuses

thatmakelifeso unpredictablywhimsical.

So,ifyouseeone onthestreet,

andyouwillseethem onthestreet,

-makesureyousay"hi." -Ormaybelendahelpinghand?

Whateverfloatsyourboat.

They'reyourproblem now,society!

Thanks,James.

It'sgreattoknow someone'sdoingtheirpart,

evenifthatperson isnotyou.

Beforeweleavetonight,

we'dliketopaytribute tooneofourcrewmembers.

Todayisthelastday foroneofourcameramen,

whoIamverycloseto.

We'reverycloseto.

Oh,Ididn'tknow youguysweretight?

Oh,yeah.Yeah. Whoeverpicksupcamerathree

isgonnahave bigshoestofill.

It'scameratwo.

Yep...Yep...

Thepointisthat I'mveryclose

withtheretiringcameraman.

So...It'snotabigdeal.

Okay,then,maybeyou'dlike tosendhimoff,Miguel.

Sure.Yeah,ofcourse.

Onbehalfofthestaff hereatTheBeaverton,

I'dlike topersonallythank...

Themanofthehour,um...

Healwaysshowsup toworkfully-clothed.

Yes.

He'sabigfanoflunch. Andhisnameis...

-Is... -Gravid...

-HisnameisOwen. -Owen!Owen.

Youdon'tknowasingle crew-member'sname,

doyou,Miguel?

Well,I'msorry

theonecrewmember youknowisleaving.

I'dalsoliketothank therestofthecrew.

Henry,I'mthinkingaboutyou.

Sadie,um, Jo-Jowiththemakeup,

welookamazing becauseofyou.

Naira,thankyou.

Deanne,you're40, that'scrazy.

TheBear,withthepipes! AndTinyEliot.

Honestly,Ilove youguyssomuch...

Yeah,metoo!

Well,maybenotlove,because thatwouldbeinappropriate.

Goodnight,everyone!
