"Ancient Detective"

"Episode 18"

Ms. Zhan!

Don't bother looking.

She's gone.

Gone?

When did this happen?

Where did she go?

She didn't tell, but I think...

she must have gone to Liaodong.

Why would she go there?

You should have guessed it.

She must be going to Santong Security...

to find Chief Wang...

to help you find out about the incident at Shenji Valley.

I think Ms. Zhan probably knows that...

you're worried about Chief Wang,

but you have to go to Heiwu Ridge to save your own life.

That's why she acted on her own...

to help you take care of Chief Wang.

Sir, why didn't you stop her?

I did.

But I'm no match for her.

Why didn't you wake me up?

I did, but I just couldn't wake you up.

What do you mean?

I think...

she must have drugged you.

That's why you were in a deep sleep.

Well, since I couldn't wake you up,

I might as well just wait until you sleep it off.

I've waited for you for two hours here.

You've waited for two hours?

Before she left,

did she tell you anything?

She merely said one thing.

Tell Mr. Jian to wait for me at Heiwu Ridge.

Be there or be square.

Heiwu Ridge? Be there or be square?

Ms. Zhan was right.

Your only option now is to go to Heiwu Ridge...

to treat the Gu poison.

Jian is one lucky guy.

He won't feel cold now.

If we go to Liaodong first and head to Heiwu Ridge later,

what are the odds of me staying alive?

Twenty percent.

All right.

We'll go to Liaodong first.

-Are you out of your mind? -I'm not.

I have my head screwed on right!

Let me tell you.

Chief Wang is a businessman.

To him,

there's no such thing as free lunch.

That's his character.

So?

Ms. Zhan is penniless.

She's asking Chief Wang to tell her such a huge secret.

What does she have as a bargaining chip?

There are only two valuable things on Ms. Zhan.

One is her beauty.

Second, it's her ability to kill.

Given Ms. Zhan's personality,

she wouldn't sell her body.

But will she kill for Chief Wang...

in exchange for information?

That's hard to say.

Regardless which is it,

I can't accept it.

It wasn't easy for her to leave the Ten Killing Gate and gain freedom.

It's been only two days.

If she's killing because of me again...

No, I can't take it.

I get you.

Let's go to Liaodong right now.

Right now! At once!

Jian!

Zhao.

-You're finally back. -What's wrong?

-Ms. Zhan has gone to Liaodong. -What?

Why?

She went to see Chief Wang to ask the truth about Shenji Valley.

What?

Zhao, accompany me to Liaodong.

Let's go and find Chief Wang.

We can't let Ms. Zhan go alone.

No, I can't let you do that.

She can go to Liaodong.

But not you.

The only place you're going now...

is Heiwu Ridge.

Look, I've even prepared the carriage with a stove for you.

That's great.

Hey!

That's great.

A carriage with the stove.

Mr. Ye.

Does it mean if we ride in it,

I'll be able to withstand the cold weather in Liaodong?

To be honest, it's quite useful.

What are you talking about?

Zhao, thank you so much.

Let's go to Liaodong right now.

No way!

I prepared this for you...

to save your life.

Not to have you throw your life away!

Zhao, I know you're doing this for my own good.

But think about it. If you were me,

and Shi Qi was Ming Yue...

would you just let her be?

First of all, I'm not you.

Secondly,

I don't have the fatal cold poison in me.

This analogy does not hold!

It does, Zhao!

There must be a way.

Do you remember when I was poisoned with Gu poison,

at Hanyue Villa?

Everyone said I couldn't live past that day.

In the end,

Hu Ba Yue used his cold poison to freeze the Gu poison.

I'm doing just fine, aren't I?

Right, also...

before we met Mr. Ye,

we didn't know that we could use bloodletting...

to delay the eruption of the poison, right?

Zhao.

Mr. Ye will find a way.

-Come on. Let's go. -No way!

You won't always be so lucky.

Jian, you're not keeping a cool head.

I've never seen you so flustered before.

If this goes on,

I'll surely lose you.

Zhao.

I'm very calm now.

I have to go to Liaodong.

Are you out of your mind?

I've said the same thing to him.

Jian.

Why did Ms. Zhan go on her own?

That's because she doesn't want you to go to Liaodong.

You're a smart person. Why don't you get it?

If you go after her now,

you'll just be throwing your life away!

You do realise that she's throwing her life away?

Am I just going to sit by and let it happen?

I couldn't care less.

You're my buddy.

I won't let you die.

You want to go, huh?

Over my dead body!

Stand right there!

Let go of me!

No!

I'm telling you one last time. Let go of me!

I'm telling you one last time. No!

Let go of me!

Jian!

-Let go of me! -Calm down!

Jian, are you all right?

-I didn't do it on purpose. -Stay away from me!

Zhao Wo Huan, let me tell you this.

From today onwards,

you and I are no longer buddies.

What did you say?

Leave.

All right.

Since you said we're no longer buddies,

Since I can't make you do something that you dislike,

I can't just watch you throw your life away!

Jian.

It's so hard being your buddy.

Thank you...

for being my buddy for so long.

Zhao Wo Huan.

Mr. Ye.

Take care of Jian for me.

From now on, we'll walk our own path!

Don't be impulsive...

The carriage will keep you warm wherever you go!

I'll leave it to you!

What's wrong, Zhao?

-This is... -Take care of Jian for me.

Send him out safely.

Hey, Zhao!

Did I make a mistake?

No, it was me.

Had I learned how to treat Gu poison from Madam Hei Wu,

none of this would have happened.

Let's say goodbye to others.

We'll go to Liaodong.

Waiter!

Sir, coming!

Sir.

-How much is the noodle? -Two pence.

I'm sorry.

My money has been stolen.

That's not the right thing to do.

It's only two pence, and you're being a deadbeat?

How about this?

I'll come back and pay you back next time.

I've seen many deadbeats like you.

Leave the sword. You can leave.

It's embarrassing to have no sword...

being in the martial world.

-You can have it if you pay up! -Waiter!

Sir, coming!

Don't leave unless you pay me!

Sir, sorry for disturbing you.

He's a deadbeat.

It's just two pence.

Don't give him a hard time.

It's on me.

Thank you, sir.

You're lucky.

Thank you.

"If you drink with a good friend, a thousand cups are too few."

Why don't we drink a thousand cups here?

No, I still have things to attend to. I need to hit the road.

All right.

Sir, judging from your look,

you seem to have a lot on your mind.

My friend broke my heart.

I parted ways with him.

How nice is that?

You still have friends to part ways with.

Where's your friend?

Just like you.

We've parted ways.

Here!

The last cup before I leave.

Thank you for your help.

A mere two pence.

It's not worth mentioning. Here!

Goodbye.

Goodbye.

I'm Zhan Shi. I'm going to Liaodong to take care of some business.

If you're still here when I get back,

I'll pay you back.

Are you going to Liaodong...

to kill someone by the name of Jian Bu Zhi?

Yes, and another person by the name of Zhan Shi Qi.

I'm Zhao Wo Huan of Mount Wangwu.

You want to kill them?

Get over my dead body first.

I hate fighting.

It's boring.

Well, you meet the right person then...

because my friend always tells me that...

he doesn't feel bored at all...

being around me.

I hope so.

To return your favour,

I decided to use my left hand.

Look like that two pence did me a great favour.

I don't like being indebted to others.

Although I respect you,

this doesn't change the outcome.

I'll still have to kill you.

Just like Bai He.

Bai He?

Her real identity was Ming Jiu.

She betrayed the Ten Killing Gate.

She's dead now.

Are you going to kill me in front of my master?

I like to challenge those skilled martial artists.

Because of my identity in Zhan Division,

I never had a chance to exchange blows with Mr. Bai.

That's one of my biggest regrets.

If I'm able to show him some of my skills,

it's considered having my wish fulfilled.

You still love to reason with people.

I just want to know...

where Jian Bu Zhi and Zhan Shi Qi had gone to.

You should know.

Since I let them go,

I would never tell you.

Of course I do.

It's just such a shame that I've to get rid of talent like you.

All these years, you'd been loyal to the Ten Killing Gate.

I'm impressed.

I am loyal to the Ten Killing Gate.

But we can't have the best of both worlds.

There are things that I care more about.

If so, I'll have to clean house.

Do you think you can beat me?

I'll do my best.

The eldest disciple of Bai Cao Zhe of Yan Mountain Sect.

What a formidable opponent.

This is once in a blue moon.

How precious is that?

It's over.

If it wasn't because of your illness...

we could have had a great fight.

It's fine if you're not telling me.

I know where they're going.

Well, let me have an eye-opening experience...

of the legendary Zhan Shi.

Only deal one single blow, they said?

So much for that.

He managed to dodge the deadly move?

I saw the whole process clearly.

He came towards my scalp very quickly.

I dodged in advance,

and made a cut at the neck where there were most flaws.

But he suddenly changed his tactics,

and almost killed me with the Anti-Hand Sword.

Such an agile and flexible swordsmanship.

It could only be...

the Li family's Anti-Hand Sword.

Aren't you going to fight?

Could that be your only move?

You'll find out the moves that I have...

after fighting against me.

Come on. Let's have a good fight.

You're using the Li family's swordsmanship of Hanyue Villa?

You recognise it?

I've always wanted to go to Hanyue Villa...

to win the title of the best swordsman.

Unfortunately, I never had the chance.

I heard they are all dead.

If you managed to beat me,

you would become the best swordsman in the world.

I had to admit that it was fun fighting against you.

But all of this...

shall end here!

Zhao Wo Huan!

Come out and fight.

Don't be a coward.

The Blinding Sword?

Less is more.

Slow is fast.

Weak is strong.

Don't bother looking.

I'm here.

How candid.

So that's how it is.

The moon is so beautiful.

It's a shame...

we can't drink together any more.

I have lost.

Why do you want to kill Jian?

Ming Yue.

Why would you be here?

Where is this?

Are you making it for me?

Can you show me?

It's so nice. Just like you.

You're awake?

Mr. Ye, why would it be you?

Who did you think it was?

Mr. Jian doesn't know how to treat you.

Where is this?

I'm not sure either.

We're almost at Liaodong.

You've been sleeping for days.

If it weren't because we felt bad for you,

you would have frozen to death.

Who asked you to save me?

Where's that ungrateful jerk?

He's driving the cart.

How can you let him do that?

Mr. Ye, how is Zhao?

He should...

He should be fine.

Still not awake yet?

That's great.

You drive the cart, and I'll stitch him up.

You know how to suture a wound?

Of course not.

But...

I learned how to sew clothes.

The procedures should be about the same.

You're a complete novice.

I'm afraid your suture technique is going to hurt a lot.

There's nothing to worry about. He's not awake yet anyway.

Don't worry, Mr. Ye.

Okay, I'll leave it to you.

All right.

I'm going to start now.

Hold on!

Mr. Ye, you should finish it up before you leave.

You're awake?

Still being tough?

Who saved you?

I didn't beg you to.

If anyone saves my life, that would be Mr. Ye.

I have become Mr. Ye now, huh?

If so, let me...

continue to stitch you up.

-Hold on! -What's the matter?

I'm very good at it now.

Why don't I go to Tian Mountain and ask Wicked Woman to do it for you?

No need. She's too expensive. I can't afford to hire her.

I left all my money at the tavern.

That's right. Just bear with me. My fee is much cheaper.

Hold on!

Mr. Ye!

Come in, Mr. Ye!

Why did you call him?

He's driving the cart.

I'll do it. Come on.

Jian, I was wrong!

I was wrong. All right?

Don't look. Keep moving forward.

Anything you do may make them attack.

I'm sure their attack is much faster than you.

This time around, even if there is anaesthetic...

it's still going to hurt a lot.

But the wound will recover soon.

Bear with it.

Eldest brother.

There's a lady, Ms. Liu, who would like to see you.

She said she's sent by Shenji Valley...

to make some inquiries.

The Shenji Valley?

Send her in.

Yes.

Here she is.

Eldest brother, here she is.

I'm Liu Se Xin.

A friend of mine from Shenji Valley sent me...

to ask you something about Ban Jiang Ku Ye, Wang Hua...

from eight years ago.

Do you know...

you need to have a bargaining chip to ask for my help?

I know. I don't have money.

But I can kill people for you.

Everyone in this world knows...

not many can go one better than me in terms of killing people.

But I would love to see...

what you're capable of.

How?

Kill someone right now.

Give her back her weapon.

Who do I kill?

Zhang Da Dan!

Eldest brother!

Bring it on!

Kill me!

Wait a second.

What did you just say?

I said, "Bring it on! Kill me!"

You haven't even started to fight.

How did you know you're going to get killed?

We've met...

and we exchanged blows before.

I couldn't beat her.

Since you know you can't beat her,

why didn't you say so?

Why do you want to throw your life away?

Eldest brother.

Dayi Security is gone.

I came to Santong Security all by myself.

All thanks to you for taking me in.

This is your first task for me.

I have to perform well.

Besides...

you ordered her to kill me.

It means her skills are more important than my life.

All of you are big shots.

I can only follow the order.

Bring it on. Ms...

I'm Liu.

Ms. Liu.

Bring it on!

That's enough.

No need to fight.

I've seen what she's capable of from you.

All of you are dismissed.

Without my order,

no one is allowed to come in.

Yes!

Yes!

Now, can you tell me who would you like me to kill?

I can do it.

I don't need you to kill anyone.

But that's all I know to do.

I must find out about Wang Hua.

Just do three things for me.

And I'll tell you everything that you want to know.

Tell me.

At noon five days from now,

help me save a young boy at a temple...

ten miles north of the armed escort agency.

If you can't even do it,

there's no need to discuss further.

All right. I'll give you my word.

What if I succeed?

I'll come to you.

It's a deal.

I shall take my leave.

See yourself out.

The anaesthetic you used this time is different from the previous one.

It hurts a lot this time. So...

Well, why did you still mix other things in it?

How dare you betray me?

I...

Who ordered you?

I've given the order.

No one can enter without my permission.

Eldest brother.

What did that girl say to you just now?

I'm afraid this isn't what you're here for.

You're the one who bribed the physician...

to drug me.

Eldest brother, how wise of you.

What's the reason?

You've lost the ambition.

Sooner or later, Santong Security is going to ruin in your hands.

It's time to step down.

Stop resisting.

If the medicine didn't take effect,

I wouldn't have come in.

Eldest brother, don't worry.

I won't kill you.

I'm going to take over the armed escort agency legitimately.

Hand over the token.

No rush.

I can wait.

Mr. Jian.

I hope all is well with you.

And hopefully, I can complete the mission smoothly.

Stop!

Go on.

Stop!

What is this?

My baggage.

-Go on. -Okay.

Stop!

What is this?

My money and some clothes.

Go on.

What's wrong?

The situation in Liaodong is a little strange.

The armed escort agency people...

are investigating everyone who leaves the town.

But they don't care about those who enter the town.

It looks like something big is going on with Santong Security.

Perhaps, Ms. Zhan will be in trouble soon.

I have a bad feeling about this.

We have to hurry.

Stop! Don't run!

Stop!
