[Memories of Love]

[Episode 29]

After Uncle Kai Yu's party had ended,

everyone went back to their own lives.

My movie "Memories of Love" hit the theatrers as scheduled

The reactions were unexpectedly good.

Whether it's box office takings or word-of-mouth, it was a big success.

"Memories of Love" was a big success.

Will the both of you still work together? What are your next plans in the pipeline?

I will still continue to shoot movies;

but currently, I'm looking for the right material.

As to whether Xin Chen will work with me again,

that will depend on her.

I feel that Director Lu Fei is very considerate

and has a lot of ideas.

He has helped me a lot during the filming and gave me a lot of encouragement.

I feel very accomplished shooting with him and I really appreciate it.

Miss Xin Chen, you haven't answered the question yet.

Will you still continue to work with Director Lu Fei in the future?

If Director Lu Fei doesn't have any complaints, of course, I will be willing to.

Let's take a photo of the both of you.

Come, one, two, three.

- Are you watching the live stream? - Yes.

I think good things are approaching them.

It took them ten years already. It is time.

Xin Di, the accessory for the opening garment is gone.

What? Didn't I leave it there?

I clearly left it here. Who touched my stuff?

- I remember that no one touched your stuff. - I distinctly remember that I left it here.

How can there be a mistake right now?

You lost the accessory? Let me help you.

You don't even know what I'm looking for.

Dear, is this it?

Yes, this is it. Thank, god.

- Okay, don't panic. - Remember to let the model wear this.

Okay.

What's wrong with you?

Are you okay? Take a seat and rest first.

You're working too hard and your body can't take it.

I don't want to be so busy, too, but I don't have a choice.

I'll handle the fashion show.

Have more rest.

How can I rest?

I personally designed every single piece. How can I hand this over to you?

You were never involved in the planning.

It's not that I don't trust you.

Listen to me. Leave the fashion show to me.

Remain backstage and take a break.

Watch over your accessories.

No. But...

There are no "buts." Listen to me.

Believe in me.

These are the costumes for the tour.

There is one in pink. I think this suits you very well,

but you need to choose from many designs. Choose one first.

Do a good job on her makeup.

- Watch the eyebrow. - Wait a moment.

Lu Fei!

What are we doing next?

This afternoon at 5:00 there is an interview and tonight at 8:00 there is a movie promotion event.

- Director, we've just received a new event schedule. - Oh, it's a media press conference.

Yes.

Xin Chen, do your makeup.

I'm not talking about this. I'm referring to us. What will we do next?

Next, we will...

- We can... - I have been starving for the whole day. Let's eat.

I'm hungry, too.

Come here.

It says here that tomorrow there's a radio interview and a magazine photo shoot.

Drink less water. Don't swell up like a bun.

- I think this dress... - Wait a moment.

It's my treat today. You can eat whatever you like.

You are picking up the tab? I can eat anything then?

Of course, I can still pay for a meal.

I won't be shy then.

Director, take a look.

We will eliminate all the Xs and keep the rest.

Okay.

After working for the whole day, you are treating me with this?

What? Not happy?

I'm a rookie.

Where would I get the money to have a luxurious meal?

You are now considered a popular star. Don't be petty.

Director Lu Fei,

this meal is already half of my monthly salary.

Come, drink this.

What should you say? Cheers.

It's delicious.

Come. Have one, too.

- What are you doing? - I'm not doing anything.

Why are you laughing?

So sneaky.

Frankly, I feel sorry for Ruo Li.

Why?

I told her that ten years ago, in the first short film that I shot,

you were my female lead.

For this movie now, you are still my female lead.

I was thinking, in the future, for all my movies,

will you be willing to...

Congratulations.

Thank you.

- So how? Did you like it? - It was really great.

This is excellent. Thank you. It's good that you liked it.

We look forward to working with you again.

This is what I wanted to say, too. I'm looking forward to signing the contract with you tomorrow.

Let's meet tomorrow then.

- Okay. - See you tomorrow then. Thank you.

Thank you. See you tomorrow.

Okay, see you tomorrow. This way, please.

It's a success!

Wait.

We must drink to our heart's content today;

but before this,

I have something to tell everyone.

Our special fashion show was very successful today.

First, I would like to thank everyone for working so hard towards this.

It has really been hard for everyone.

It's not hard at all.

We also need to thank someone else.

Thank you, my husband, Dai Wei Fan. Thank him for

giving us so much help in this fashion show.

- Should we thank him? - Yes.

Dear, you are the best.

Frankly, this is what I wanted to say, too.

Thank you for always

helping me and caring for me.

Frankly, it's also because

of his help

that allowed me to understand something.

The real confidence

is being able to accept those surprises outside of your expectations in life.

Thus, here,

I have something very important to announce.

I... am pregnant.

Thus, starting from today, in the coming year,

you will see a fashion designer with a big belly.

Together, we will march to the front of the fashion industry.

Hello, Xin Chen.

Uncle,

how have you been lately? Did you take your medication regularly?

I am fine.

Xin Chen, I often see you on television these days.

Oh, my Xin Chen is a superstar now!

What superstar?

It's only because we are promoting the movie so there is a lot of media exposure.

I'm sorry, Uncle. I haven't visited you recently.

Don't worry about it. You work hard. I'm okay.

Uncle, I'll pick you up on Tuesday.

Lu Fei and I will take you to the doctor and we can have a great meal together, okay?

No, no, no. I can go to the doctor myself.

But we can have a great meal together.

No.

You have to wait for me and Lu Fei for the doctor.

Okay, okay, fine. Just seeing the both of you makes me happy.

Xin Chen, take care of yourself.

Don't stress out your body. I'll be worried.

Okay, we confirmed it.

I'm hanging up. I have things to do.

Bye-bye.

Busy with what?

We can start now.

Director Lu Fei, your first movie in China

has received rave reviews.

We also know that your film has been invited to a famous foreign film festival.

As screenwriter and director,

how do you feel?

I really appreciate the support from the media and audiences,

and thank the judges for their affirmation.

This film is a true reflection of myself.

To be able to finish filming it, I am already very satisfied.

Director Lu Fei is so modest. In the film, Mu Ran and Lan Shan's relationship is very special.

Is it related to your own experience?

I remember when I left ten years ago,

I left in a hurry.

In a sense, I really left my true love behind.

My life in a foreign country felt very busy,

but I would often have nightmares.

I know what really bothered me all those times.

Because in my heart, I was missing someone.

Director Lu Fei, you were already a very successful director outside of China.

Were you still unhappy?

I want to ask you this instead.

Isn't someone without love just a body without soul?

I thought my life would just be like that.

But now that I am able to finish this film,

I am very grateful.

Xin Chen, let's go.

I'm not thinking straight again.

Wait, but it is today. Xin Chen told me.

For what?

Right. To see the doctor.

Is she picking me up or am I going alone?

Congratulations, you've became a real actress.

Thank you.

I know my son. These ten years,

because he couldn't forget about you,

he was never happy.

But the last time when I visited,

I saw that he was really content.

I'm sure he found his true happiness.

So, Xin Chen, I thank you.

I booked my flight back to the States tonight.

I want to give you Lu Fei.

I hope you can take good care of him.

I will, Auntie, don't worry.

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to the media press conference

for the movie "Memories of Love."

Tonight, we are very lucky to have the crew,

Director Lu Fei, and main actress, Xin Chen, to share with us

the fun things that happened during shooting.

Please give the warmest welcome to Director Lu Fei.

Hello, everyone. Good evening.

I am Lu Fei.

During shooting, there were hardship and happiness.

Wife, why did you come home so early?

- Close your eyes. - Why?

Close your eyes. Hurry.

Don't open them.

Why so secretive? What's happening?

Don't open them until I tell you.

Don't open yet.

Okay, you can open now.

Oh my.

Did you prepare all of this?

Yes, I did. Do you like it?

I love it.

Go ahead.

But, Wife, I'm feeling so strange.

What is my image in your heart?

Don't feel strange. Go ahead and eat.

The main thing is you are so unusual.

I admit, I was very selfish before.

I only thought about work

and really ignored you too much.

You know me.

I never trusted anyone and thought only my job would stay with me till the end.

Me, I am trustworthy.

Recently, I'm starting to realize

my job wouldn't put a blanket over me at night.

My job wouldn't get so stressed when I were sick,

and wouldn't be so proud when talking about me.

Why do I sound like a nanny and a mother?

Husband, you know

I really think that

you will be a very good father.

That's why I can lose to you.

I want to be a good mother, too.

You once said the life I wish to have is what you want.

Me, too.

So, today, I just want to let you know.

I've decided

I want to spend more time with you and with our child.

I am quitting my job after I finish the last design.

So starting from today, you have to take care of me.

Wife, I won't disappoint you and our child.

Believe me.

Yes.

I love you, Husband.

Tomorrow is Wednesday. There's only one interview with Tencent.

You can take a day off.

Tomorrow is Wednesday?

- Then what is today? - It's Tuesday.

What's wrong?

I mixed up the dates.

See the doctor. See the doctor.

I know why you are here.

This is where Xin Chen was born.

Bai Hong.

- Let's get married. - Is it for me...

or for this child?

- Nurse. -Yes, Mister.

Where's my lover? Where's my child?

I'm sorry, Kai Yu.

My lover, Bai Hong. You know Bai Hong?

Nurse, where's OB/GYN?

- Mister, please calm down. - I'm looking for my lover, Bai Hong.

My whole family moved away from this city.

Where's OB/GYN? Tell me where's OB/GYN!

Please calm down. Security! Security!

Where's OB/GYN?

I am not that brave.

No, don't take me.

- I'm looking for my lover. - I'm sorry, Mister.

I want...

- Mister - I have to look for my child.

Take him out. The patients are resting.

Okay.

- I'm looking for Bai Hong.

- Mister. - Bai Hong!

Where is this patient from?

Bai Hong. Bai Hong.

Why doesn't he pick up my phone?

... leave it to actress Xin Chen.

- Xin Chen, you go first. - Yes, you keep calling for me.

Please welcome our movie main actress, Xin Chen.

I think she must be very nervous in the back,

so let's give her another round of applause.

Welcome.

Say something to everyone.

Come here.

Hello, everyone. I am Xin Chen.

I'm very happy to be here today

to introduce our movie,

"Memories of Love."

This is...

No worry. Say anything you want.

Even though during the shooting

we faced a lot of difficulties...

During...

Xin Chen, pick up the phone.

- Hurry, pick up the phone. - During which...

What's wrong?

Something happened to Uncle Kai Yu.

Hello? Can you hear me?

Are you the family of the person who was hit? Please come to Urgent Care right now.

[Ten Minutes Ago]

- Go away. - Bai Hong. - Go away!

Go away!

Bai Hong.

Bai Hong.

I'm sorry.

Dad,

this is Uncle's will.

What?

Bring it over.

Look.

Dad.

Oh my, Xin Chen is Uncle's...

Xin Di.

Let me tell you, you can't tell Xin Chen about this.

Why? Why are you hiding this from her?

This is your Uncle's wish.

He hid this secret and took it with him forever.

The father and daughter are both so stubborn.

Look, your Uncle wrote a will a long time ago,

but even till the end of his life he still wouldn't tell Xin Chen.

He just really didn't want his daughter to know about this.

So we have to respect Uncle's wish.

What a hard life you and Uncle are living.

All these things...

Director Lu Fei, what are you trying to do in such a short time?

Don't ask about the details. If you settle this,

I can let you take leave.

I will also give you double the bonus.

I'll definitely finish this task.

Also, don't tell anyone about this yet. Especially—

Xin Chen, right? You can rest assured.

Okay.

No— I— That—

- Xin Chen. - Hello, Xin Chen.

Why are you here?

I came from home and unknowingly came here.

Are you okay?

I promised Uncle that I would go to lots of fun places with him in the future.

Eat lots of delicious food. Every day would be happy.

Wherever you want to go, I'll accompany you.

Whatever you want, I'll agree.

I want to give you something.

It is something that will make you never lonely

and sad forever.

And this thing,

you can only give it once in your life.

Uncle!

Lu Fei is going to propose to me!

My daughter and I. Don't forget.

Chen, you came back on your own?

Dad is still a little worried,

so I came to see you.

What's wrong?

What's wrong, what's wrong, what's wrong?

Xiao Chen, what was that sound?

Xiao Chen?

Are you okay?

Don't be sad. Don't be sad, okay?

Xiao Chen.

Time for you to wake up and eat.

I don't want to eat.

You don't want to eat? Are you trying to be a god?

Come, get up and eat.

Don't care about me.

Do you know how worried Mom and Dad are for you?

I just don't want them to be worried.

Stop being so depressed then.

You can't keep being like this. Here, Xiao Chen, get up.

I already said not to care about me!

What's wrong with you? Why are you shouting?

Why?

What do you mean why?

Why didn't you guys tell me?

If I didn't see the writings behind this picture,

were you guys planning to hide this from me forever?

Xiao Chen.

Turn around. Listen to me.

I know this is too cruel to you.

But this was Uncle's wish.

Dad and I just want to protect you. Do you understand?

We didn't want you to live with such heaviness.

Why are you guys so cruel? How could you guys have the heart to do this?

How could you guys have the heart to

let him leave with regrets?

Why?

Why couldn't you guys give me

a chance?

I didn't even have to chance

to call him Dad. How could you guys?
