My very special guest co-host is Russell Crowe,

star of new psychological thriller Unhinged,

which is out on July 30.

the tribute to Chrissy Amphlett from the Divinyls,

on September 4.

Regional festival the Red Hot Summer Tour

has moved three postponed shows

with Hunters and Collectors, The Living End and Killing Heidi

forward nearly two years.

The shows will now take place in Ballarat, Kiama and the Barossa

in May 2022.

The festival is still hoping to have

a new line-up running early next year,

depending on COVID-19 restrictions on large outdoor events.

Melbourne band The Teskey Brothers

scored their first ARIA chart-topper in May,

when their Live at the Forum album hit number one.

The song you're about to see, Carry You, features on that record,

as well as on last year's Grammy-nominated album Run Home Slow.

Brisbane singer Eves Karydas has amassed over 40 million streams

since her debut album in 2018.

Her latest single, Complicated, was created in Sweden

with producers who have worked with Britney Spears and Katy Perry.

It's one of Triple J's most played songs this month

and is on track to be a crossover hit

with commercial radio now embracing the tune,

which she's performing from SEA LIFE in Sydney.

ARIA Hall of Famer James Reyne was meant to be touring later this year

to mark the 40th anniversary of his band Australian Crawl's

classic album Boys Light Up.

But with those plans now in limbo,

he's been busy promoting his 12th solo album, Toon Town Lullaby,

which came out earlier this month.

Tell us about trying to write a love song.

'Cause it seems that

love songs aren't really, really heavily featured

in the James Reyne repertoire.

So I once wrote a song called After You've Gone,

which was actually a love song,

but this was a song on this record called Trying To Write A Love Song.

My wife and a couple of her friends occasionally said to me,

"Why don't you ever write love songs?"

I said, "Well, I don't... I'm not very good at it.

"And other people do it much better than I do."

So I decide to write a song about a guy trying to write a love song.

You're going to be performing Low Hanging Fruit

from the brand-new album for us.

Can you tell us a little bit about where you performed this song?

So I was in...

It's performed in the...

..an iconic hotel called the Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay.

I was up there because my wife has a place up near there

and we're up there for family reasons.

So...and we know Kyle, who runs the place.

so he kindly let us film the song in there.

It's now seven years since we lost the amazing Chrissy Amphlett,

the legendary frontwoman of Australian rock band The Divinyls.

I got to work with Chrissy in 1988

It was a musical by Willy Russell called Blood Brothers,

and she walked in on day one of rehearsal

and she sort of sized me up.

And she said, "He can't be my son because he's going to be my lover."

Now, we never did that,

but that was the sort of personality you were dealing with with Chrissy.

She'd say whatever was on her mind.

Divinyls' debut single, 1981's Boys In Town,

remains an Australian rock classic.

Julia Stone and her brother Angus are not only part of

a globally successful duo,

they both have their own careers.

Julia's upcoming third solo album leaves her usual folky sound behind

with production by US powerhouse St Vincent.

The first single is Break, which Julia says

is about being at the mercy of someone who breaks you.

It's time to dig into the vaults again

and we've got national treasure Kylie Minogue.

Now, back in 1987 I was doing theatre in Melbourne.

I was doing the Rocky Horror Show on stage at the Princess Theatre.

The casting director for Neighbours came along

and she kindly left me a note

wondering if I'd be interested in doing three days or two days

on the set of Neighbours.

And at the time I was thinking,

"Well, if it's all I ever do, at least I can tell the grandkids

"I was in a scene on Neighbours with Kylie Minogue."

The actual scene involved...

..I think Jason Donovan was trying to break a fight up.

I punched Craig McLachlan in the head.

Kylie Minogue was...leapt on my back and tried to strangle me.

So that was a fun day's work, and it's a good memory.

Kylie has a new single coming out called Say Something.

But this clip that we're going to see, it sees Kylie live in Sydney

back in 1998 on her Intimate And Live Tour.

That was a pivotal tour for Kylie -

the one that she credits with turning her into the enormously successful

live performer on a world scale that she is now.

This performance sees Kylie and band swap synths for guitars

and turn her pop hit What Do I Have To Do into a rock song.

You were formed by the heat of the galaxy.

Written, directed and executive produced by Beyonce,

the film is based on her music to The Lion King reboot.

Fans won't have too long to wait.

Black Is King will stream on Disney Plus from July 31st.

Mariah Carey is making the most

of the 30th anniversary of her debut album.

She's releasing music from her vault each week,

starting with four live songs from 1990,

including her very first hit, Vision of Love.

The singer will also release her autobiography in September,

which promises to touch on issues of race, identity, class,

as well as personal trauma.

This week marked the 10th anniversary of boy band One Direction

being formed on TV by Simon Cowell.

While fans were hoping they might reunite virtually,

next week, 10 Years Of One Direction will be launched,

featuring rare videos and songs.

The late rapper Juice Wrld has become only the ninth artist

to top the American charts both posthumously and while still alive.

The first album since his death last December, Legends Never Die,

saw him join a club that includes

Prince, Tupac, Elvis, John Lennon and Johnny Cash.

ABBA have confirmed they've recorded five brand-new songs

with the original line-up.

They had reunited to work on a hologram tour

and got on so well they made new songs.

However, the global pandemic has changed their plans

and the songs won't be released until 2021.

And finally, Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA

has directed a new film, Cut Throat City,

starring Shameik Moor, T.I. and Terrence Howard.

It's an action heist set in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

So, man, you got a new movie coming out.

Yeah, a new movie called Cut Throat City

based on the story of Hurricane Katrina.

It is the 15th year anniversary.

And the film follows four young men

from the Lower Ninth Ward with the aftermath of Katrina.

So you did the soundtrack for the movie?

Yes, I did. Me, Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang.

We also had a great music supervisor, Adrian Miller,

who is a manager of artists like Anderson Paak.

Just some really cool music, you know,

especially this one group out of New Orleans named Gumbo.

They did a really powerful song for the soundtrack

and I'm pretty excited for the world to hear it.

Great, man. So that's Cut Throat City and that's out in the US.

What date is it coming out?

Scheduled for July 31st, if the movie theatres open.

So, what are your memories of when you came down recently

and played at the Sydney Opera House?

Oh, wow.

That was one of those what you call

crowning achievements for Wu-Tang Clan.

I mean, the first time I seen the Sydney Opera House,

I think I was hanging with you.

Yeah.

I was walking, me and my family and your family.

And I said, "What is that?"

I said, "What a great basketball stadium."

That's what you said.

And years later, it was an honour and a pleasure

to be, you know, to be invited

to such an iconic building to play hip-hop, you know?

I think we were there four nights in a row, all sold out.

And Sydney, Australia, and the whole country of Australia

has embraced my music and, uh, I'm just grateful for that.

Yeah, well, you're definitely icon status down here, man.

I was just wondering too, though,

because I know you, uh, to be a road animal,

to love to be travelling, to be doing shows, you know,

what has the creative soul been doing in this pandemic

when you haven't had that outlet?

I've been finding myself,

after the first, maybe, three weeks of quarantine,

my juices just started running.

And I've probably been writing more music

than I've written in the last five years.

No, I feel the same way, man.

My life felt like I was dragging a bunch of empty tin cans

and loose tailpipes behind me, you know?

And it was like a lot of noise just behind me.

I'd be keep going forward,

but there was a lot of noise right back here, you know?

And being able to be still for a while,

and stop that travelling on other people's behalves, you know,

and then just take those tin cans and like a list,

just, right, get that done, that done and that done.

And everything's gone nice and quiet now.

And I feel, you know... I mean, I'm writing

and I'm engaging in a whole bunch of stuff, you know?

Yeah. I know you're asking me the questions,

but I'm noticing something here.

The Unhinged can.

I've seen some moonshine in a can like that before.

Oh yeah, yeah.

Well, that's a movie that's coming out -

it actually was on the same date as yours - July 31 -

but it comes out in Australia on July 30

18-year-old Brisbane singer Sasha McCleod

performs under the name Sycco.

She is the recipient of one of triple J Unearthed Level Up Grants

and is signed to a new record label called Wilder

from the team that gave us Flume and G Flip.

And she's already been hailed as one of the rising stars of 2020.

Her new single, Dribble,

is already getting play on LA radio station KCRW.

This one's a new one called Dribble.

I wrote it with my friend Ed from Slum Sociable.

with two icons of the Australian music scene

who've won 23 ARIA awards between them -

Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky.

They've collaborated on an album called Please Leave Your Light On,

which is released on July 31

and includes Paul Kelly songs

reinterpreted on a piano by Paul Grabowsky.

1992, my first time in Los Angeles,

I'd had a 10-day period of meeting with

the 10 biggest representative companies in the business

and I had a decision to make.

I rented a Mustang... ..and went for a little road trip.

I found myself in Death Valley.

And I packed pretty light on that trip.

One of the things I had packed was a cassette of Paul Kelly's album Post.

And I drove through Death Valley,

actually sitting on the top of the front seat of the Mustang,

listening to Post.

And the song that kept resonating over and over again,

and has been a resonant sort of anthem in my life,

is the song Little Decisions.

I love that song.

And the decision I made then, on that trip,

I'm still represented by that same guy.
