Tintic mining district.

We are in eureka, utah,

investigating
another ghost town.

There are so many multiple
abandoned buildings

where people are being attacked,

and there's also some residents
doing rituals to summon

those very spirits

in the very buildings they own.

Something about
mining towns,

the activity is just
completely different

from other locations
that we go to.

It's a whole
other different level.

Yeah.

And I think
it's all those mines underground

are truly just magnifying
the energy in these towns,

without a doubt.

For this lockdown,
we've invited julie jordan,

senior writer
for people magazine,

to experience what it's like
to investigate

with the
"ghost adventures" crew.

eureka became the financial
center of utah's

tintic mining district,
where, for several decades,

record-setting amounts
of silver and gold

were gutted
from the earth's belly.

But even the spirits
of the miners,

they're probably
still there

because they don't know
any better but,

"that's my gold.
I'm not leaving."

but these towns are sitting
on a battery bed.

Yeah. Think of the minerals
that are in the ground.

Many of eureka's
original buildings remain.

That and its proximity
to these now-dormant mines

make it a beacon
for spiritual energy.

These are my favorite locations
to investigate,

are mining towns.

They're a part of us.
This is how we got our start.

There was so much
in this one.
There was a lot.

The mayor.

Well, he's the guy
that called us, right?

He was the one saying...
Oh, yeah.

...That we needed
to come here.

In 1915, marshal alex robertson
was murdered in cold blood

by the very man he apprehended.

And these little towns
are just a whole other world.

I love them.

You think just the way that
people lived back then, too?

It was lawless.

Like, there's so much death
and crime.

Yet no murder in eureka's
tempestuous history

can compare to
the amount of death

once besieged on this town.

The spanish flu epidemic
came through in 1917, 1918.

There was probably

And people were buried
in a mass grave

down
in the cemetery here.

A disease is -- you're being
murdered by a virus.

You're being murdered
by a dangerous bacteria.

Scary.

And the whole town
just picking up dead people.

You're the only survivor.

During this epidemic,
there were so many deaths,

the undertaker had
a horse-drawn wagon...

hooves clopping ]

...And he'd ride up
and down the streets

three or four times
a day calling out...

I mean, just imagine
that this virus comes in

and you're just scared
to leave your house

because just a simple
touch or breath...

Could infect you
with this

and you die
because there's no treatment.

Wipe out entire towns.
And you don't
die peacefully.

No.
So anytime
that you see these epidemics,

that is a hatching ground
for spirits at unrest.

Zak: As we're ready to descend
upon the gatley,

said to be one of eureka's
most haunted buildings,

someone suddenly appears
to warn us

about another
far more dangerous building...

That lies up in the mountains,

which forces our investigation
to take an unexpected turn.

This house --
we did not know about

an hour before we were
driving up this hill.

We were not adding this
to the investigation.

We didn't even know
about it.

Built over a century ago,

this was once home to members
of the fitch family.

As owners of the chief
consolidated mining company,

they were one of the preeminent
mining families in eureka.

I'll never
forget that.

That was,
like, surreal.

Aaron: At first I was like,
"oh, this is gonna be cool."

and then the night of...
It turned.

This is what I love about
our investigations, though,

just not knowing
what we're gonna run into.

-Zackary stone.
-Yes, yep.

When you investigated
this house,

is it true that you stumbled
upon something in here

that was
a little disturbing?

I did.

I actually found what looks
like some occult objects.

There was
some human hair.

There was animal bones,

and there was, like,
a pouch full of something.

I did find some interesting
books for witchcraft

and some tarot cards.

This is when
everything changes,

when someone is telling you
they start finding bones

and pouches
and ritualistic items.

Yeah.

Because now you don't know
what this person is doing there,

how powerful
that person is,

and what
they're conjuring

and what
their intent is.

It could be dangerous.
And this was dangerous.

and we didn't have
this house

scheduled
to investigate.

about the history of the house,

but she doesn't know
what zackary just told us.

She's letting us into her home,
and we need to be cautioned

about what may be her energy is
onto us.

From the beginning,
when I came into this house,

I felt the energy.

Some things happen here
that I can't always explain.

The mine is right there,

and there's
a vortex of energy.

Do you sense spirits here
in this house?

All the time.

This is
a 110-year-old home.

There's a residual
energy,

so they make
themselves known

when they need to.

It's a living thing.

This is a very
uncomfortable moment

he's a very powerful person.

by being suffocated.

Somebody had a pillow
over his face,

and he said,
as he struggled,

he felt strongly
that it was a woman,

and she was
communicating to him

that she had been suffocated
in this room.

The spirit of the woman
was communicating to him

and was doing this to him
so that he could feel

what she went through?

It's weird
because in your mind,

you kind of separate the ritual
house from the mining town.

It is two separate locations,
two separate lockdowns.

being up there at that house

and then
just coming back.

It was like --
different energy.

I thought that was just,

There's an old gun
that's been thrown down there.

Wells are
very mysterious to me

because you never know what was
thrown down the well...

in the well.

I just wanted
to find that gun.

But you never found it.

Well, that means
it wasn't down there.

Well, how do I know that you
just didn't look good enough?

We've been here and had
a black mass go from here,

up the stairs,

and you see the dirt
just falling off the steps.

so later on
during our investigation,

those stairs,

we captured something really,
really cool.

Exactly.

Oh, yeah,
I kept feeling like

we're in a different part
of the world

right in that stairwell
that whole time.

You're right.
It led to something else.

So, obviously, the door
isn't functioning anymore,

but back in the day,

this could have led to
something else in the building.

Whoa.
What was that?

Something just hit my hand
right here.

It hit me right where I had
the cross on my finger.

This was awesome.

In the spirit world,
these stairs lead to something

that they still use,
a roadway.

This spike of contact

could be the result
of a territorial spirit

guarding this area
and further proof

that something here
is fueling these manifestations.

To have an actual well
still full of water,

this is a major source
of what's going on here.

And if a weapon was thrown
down in there

that was used
to kill somebody,

that could definitely curse
this well, you know?

If anybody
wants to know why

I wear a dust mask
all the time

and nobody else does,
over the years of doing this,

I was breathing in so much dust
that I developed

this hypersensitivity
respiratory condition.

If I get
one big whiff of dust,

my lungs
will do this --

like, what is that called,
a spasm?

It creates mucus
and takes like two to three days

for me
to clear it out.

The spirits
when they're manifesting

that cold air,

there's a lot of things

and that can disable

for the first time,

to try to debunk this.

It just was cold,

It felt like there was
a breeze, but...

And then I thought the door
was open, but it wasn't.

transient gust of air

could result in mapping
a spiritual figure.

or we feel an energy,

if we can see this figure

that is invisible
to our eyes.

And try to capture
what we feel.

that is visually compelling.

the exterior of the building,

we find a large open crack
that is causing the cold wind

that julie is feeling.

your light come through.

there's three things that we do.

We categorize them as
authentic paranormal evidence,

the growls coming from.

Earlier, we have learned that
some very suspicious rituals

have taken place here resulting
in physical attacks upon others.

that a man who also lives here

wants to conduct
a summoning ceremony with us,

which puts us all on guard.
