is not only iconic, it's haunted.

with the extraordinary.

Since the 1920s, he's been known to the world

as the author, illustrator, and host of Ripley's...

In 1933, Ripley opened his first Odditorium,

and today, several of these museums

showcase some of the obscure items he collected

during his expeditions to the far reaches of the globe.

Robert Ripley -- that's one of the guys that I wish,

if he was still alive, that I could meet.

I think I have a lot in common with Robert Ripley.

-Mm-hmm. -A lot.

Bet he's got some crazy stories.

Robert went to a lot of the locations

to get the items himself. Right.

Cory Dacy has overseen the operations

of this Odditorium since 2015.

Little-known fact --

Cory now works for me at The Haunted Museum,

as my general manager. [ Laughter ]

No way! Yes.

After I started doing a little preliminary research,

I am a little concerned that some of the artifacts

that you do have could be cursed.

Tell me a little bit about this.

CORY: The mummy's foot is from Egypt,

and it's dated back to 2000 B.C.

So we have a body part from an Egyptian mummy.

This could be very powerful in the effects

of what's going on here right now.

You really don't understand what I experienced

when I held that foot in my hand.

Like, it was a moment. [ Chuckles ]

Should we leave the room when that comes?

So, the first reports that we got here

were from a young lady named Trinidad.

She was a former employee.

When she would come through this area,

she said that as she went through the kids' crawl,

something touched her butt.

Underneath here is a skull in a box, too.

As we're beginning to piece together what kinds of objects

are drawing the dark energy to this location,

Cory shows us another equally nefarious artifact

made of human remains.

CORY: My Asmat skull.

"This skull was collected by Ripley himself in the 1920s.

The Asmat are a famous cannibalistic tribe

on the island of Papua New Guinea,

and they would put human skulls

under their heads in place of pillows.

If you're owning tribal artifacts,

you are messing with things

that are beyond what you can even imagine.

These various tribal groups,

their beliefs in the afterlife were something that...

was very, very different.

All those cultures are much more in tune

with the spiritual world than most people are today.

The energy that they infused into these objects

that they truly believed held various supernatural powers --

those powers don't leave those objects.

whose experience furthers this connection.

You walk around, you see this stuff, but you don't know

that the people that are working there,

and being followed home by these entities.

Wonder what the turnover rate is for employees

because of stuff like that.

I wonder if Ripley's knew all this stuff

was, like, kind of like collecting cursed objects

to see what would happen. Yeah.

she encountered at the museum.

When we would close down, we would do a last walk-through.

There was a guy talking.

It was in the hallway, and I looked 'cause he said, "No,"

and it sounded like a man's voice.

And then I looked -- mumbling, "No, no."

That's where this all got really interesting.

And these are the kinds of things that I'm dealing with

at my museum.

and I want you to tell me

whether or not this

is what you heard.

and then we captured something on our digital recorder

And she identified it.

I would have dreams that I will go to a cave,

and people are getting tortured there, killed there.

People are screaming.

I can't do anything. I can't help them.

Would you believe that these people in this cave

would be from some type of tribe or something?

Well, yes.

Something here seems to be inducing this fear into you.

You're working at a place that is giving you nightmares.

Then you wake up, and whatever gave you that nightmare

is in bed with you.

Then it takes you to where it's from

so that you can witness all the pain, suffering

from all the people that are being killed in its cave.

Every nail that's driven into that wooden hate god represents

about a nail fetish hate god.

unless there's something weird with the magnetic field

So what they would do is that the witch doctor or the shaman,

they would put these chambers in there,

either in the belly or in the head,

and they would put sacred herbs,

sometimes actually even use human parts,

like human hair, finger nails,

and, like, this kind of concoction,

almost like a witch's brew... What?

And they would coat it with glass or mirror

to kind of open it up to the spirit world.

in a culture where this is very real.

We could learn a lot and integrate them

emanating directly below the room where this hate god resides

literally have hands-on access to some of these artifacts.

ZAK: Cory unlocked the casing on this Egyptian foot and other relics

because Ripley's is allowing us

exclusive hands-on access to these allegedly

cursed artifacts for our investigation.

I think it's not only just the one object,

but you're taking a bunch of different objects

and putting them together and sharing the same space.

And they might not even have the same beliefs.

where, earlier, we documented

unexplained spikes of electromagnetic energy,

Aaron seems to become affected by something.

like, euphoric and then all of a sudden back,

and I'm exhausted, and it's like...

is the electromagnetic transient energy

that's moving around.

There was these transient masses

that were moving around that are spirits,

and this really coincided with the employee that was stating

that she did see these apparitions walking around.

They were walking around amongst us.

These are the spirits that the staff are seeing.

Just as we are feeling this intense and powerful energy,

downstairs in the basement,

we capture something unexplained

on two of our X cameras.

-Yeah. Remember that? -What was that?

I'm not sure what happened, but it looks like a light

just came on downstairs by itself.

-What? -Where at?

Kind of near where the Egyptian foot is,

the whole side of the frame is lit up.

I think something got ripped off

one of the lights, right, Billy?

-Oh, right. -The gaff tape was ripped.

As we race downstairs to where

this light mysteriously turned on,

we discover that our heavy-duty gaff tape

has been ripped off the museum's security camera.

Look how much gaff tape is on that.

I think it was three pieces of gaff tape.

-How did that happen? -There's no way.

You know how sticky gaff tape is, right?

There was no explanation for that.

No.

And you can see how much

gaff tape we used to cover this security camera.

And there is no oil or grease on this camera.

It takes a lot of work to get that off of there,

and it was just taken off of there.

It was interesting.

We can't say it was 100 percent paranormal.

But you got to understand, when we capture these things

and they happen and it's unexplained...

-Right. -...meaning we can't explain it,

we're gonna present it.

because this could be evidence.

As we try to debunk this as being an explainable force

of gravity, we notice something when we check this X camera.

If you watch how the light illuminates the room,

it pans across the floor from left to right.

If the tape were to fall due to gravity,

the light would enter and illuminate the room

from top to bottom, not left to right.

So we conclude that this tape

was forcefully torn off the camera in a sideways manner.

That's right. If gravity would have taken it,

it would have taken it straight down.

It would have went, ohh.

It would have went straight down.

It would be slow, probably.

It's like a butterfly.

within a few feet from the mummy's foot,

and this is also where, right before our investigation,

the general manager heard a loud crashing sound.

So we are going to call the general manager on walkie,

have him come inside the building,

and he has to witness us taking the mummy foot out of its case.

to the 2,000-year-old mummy foot,

and I am going to be personally holding it.

This was a really powerful moment,

I connected with the spirit of this foot.

So did the SLS camera.

During this time of opening the Egyptian mummy foot case,

we begin using the SLS camera,

and soon, we will capture some of the most

compelling SLS evidence to date,

including multiple figures with prolonged appearances.

which allows spirits

Leading up to this, when you took the case out,

And these particular artifacts are not cheap.

and it drove up through my foot, and at this same exact moment,

a small stick figure is seen manifesting down beside my foot.

right next to my foot.

What do you think that could have been?

You think it could have been like her spirit?

Like, "Don't mess on my foot."

If that wasn't anything paranormal,

it was one hell of a coincidence.

That was so painful. Is it still painful now?

When I grabbed the foot, I held it in my hand,

and I started getting flash images

of, like, a beautiful Egyptian woman.

and instead of me holding her dead foot,

I was holding a beautiful foot.

Here's the biggest thing that was evidence to me

and me only because I know what I saw.

It was a new foot.

I saw it as a -- as a well-manicured foot.

I saw the skin of it, the sheen of the skin.

I saw it in detail. It was so -- it was so bizarre.

It was like a dream. But I was awake.

I'll never forget it. Believe it or not.

That was horrible.

I can't believe how heavy this is.

Right now, my fingers are, like, in between her toes.

used by the Yoruba people of West Africa.

It was a big knife by a West African tribe.

It was usually used for hunting, war and other uses.

West Africa is where the nail fetish

and all that stuff comes from.

This sword was often used in wars,

and it was also known to be covered with pepper and poison

so that it would paralyze anyone who was cut by it.

All of a sudden, this figure appears again to my left.

Then, as I'm having more deep,

vivid flashes of a beautiful Egyptian priestess,

this figure appears to jump right inside of me.

Lookit! Double skeletal figure.

The spirit you saw right there disappears into me.

The spirit was then channeling me.

As it was channeling me, it was letting me see the spirit.

Could this be evidence of my channeling the priestess' spirit

through direct contact with her sacred body part?

I feel like I need to put this down.

Yeah, something was agitated that you're touching that.

Oh, now it's standing next to you again.

Actually, it's connected to the foot, a full figure.

You seeing this, Cory? Look at that.

It's basically standing, starting where the foot is,

up, like you're holding an entire figure.

I have never seen anything like that.

See, that's what I really liked about this moment,

is that we had a third party person,

general manager of the museum, witnessing this.

What did you see, Cory?

It was as if she was standing in your hand.

Really? And I saw you holding the foot,

and then it looked like someone curled up

and stood completely up... Really?

Yeah, it's pretty incredible.

Not only do I feel the emotions of spirits,

but at times, if it's supercharged,

I will see the spirits or what they want me to see.

And that's what these "flash images" are.

This is an air ion counter.

It will measure both positive and negative ions in the air.

This puts off positive ions, which are harmful and dangerous.

I'm going to show you what the ion count

is before I turn this on

so you can see that this thing puts off a lot of positive ions.

Explain to us the PILFER device, Bill.

The PILFER puts out positive ions,

which are harmful to us.

introduced a collection of ancient human

and tribal artifacts to the ticket-buying public.

Why I really liked investigating Ripley's

is because I knew that the curator and founder

of this museum shares some things with myself

that a lot of people just won't ever understand.

There is a part of us that has some form

of awkward attraction to the very macabre.

You know, one thing that Zak has that

he doesn't have -- better teeth.

Zak has much better teeth than Robert Ripley.
