that we are about to relive.

We are in the heart of texas

Headed towards our most
dangerous investigation yet.

You guys ever heard
of the pentagram of blood?

-Yeah, I've heard of that.
-You've heard of that?

-Oh, yeah.
-It's a pentagram.

When you draw it
over the united states,

It hits parts of mexico
and canada, too.

Cities and towns all along
the lines of the pentagram --

They mark areas of
natural disasters,

Tragedies,
mass casualties.
Oh, wow.

It went through dallas,
where jfk was assassinated.
Right.

It went through waco, texas,

Where the whole david koresh
waco massacre happened.

It even goes up through
the oklahoma city bombing area.

I never knew about this, jay --
the pentagram of blood.

There's gotta be
something to it.

I mean, so many places
just have like these --

Natural disasters,
killings.

That line is also passing
through the location

That we're headed to next.

Something in this forest

Is gonna greet us
when that sun goes down.

You could feel it
when you walked in it.

There was nothing good
in this for us.

Right now we are standing

At the entrance
of goatman's bridge.

This bridge was
the center point

For something that you saw
with your own eyes.

Yes, it was very late
at night

Between probably
2:00 and 3:00.

We were doing an evp session
in the center of the bridge,

And I kept seeing something
out of the corner of my eye

Coming through the thicket
of the woods.

-Over there.
-Yes.

You couldn't help
but stare at the face.

Because it had
a goat head on it,

Horns wrapped around
the front of his head.

-He was great.
-Are you serious?

-Really? Oh.
-Do you have to crinkle so much?

Can barely hear it.

You know I have
that condition

That's, like, called
misophonia or something.

-[ crunches loudly ]
-why would you even do that?

-[ laughs ]
-why is that even...?

You got your snacks
and a bowl right here.

Ever since I was little,
I've had this thing

Where crunching sounds
or bags --

It's a weird thing.
And we torment,
you don't we?

-You do.
-We're training you to be...

It's, like,
borderline harassment.

If we do it,
you'll get used to it

And be over it.

Zak: According to legend,
in the 1930s

There was a black man
named oscar washburn

Who was a prosperous
goat herder.

Hey, bill, goat herder.

Let's make an announcement
everybody.

There is a goat herder
amongst my theater.

[ laughter ]

Billy, do you own goats?

I recently adopted and rescued
a family of goats.

Okay.
Did this show inspire that?

I don't think so.
I hope not.

-That guy has goats.

-Only when they're hungry.

Zak: He placed a sign at the
foot of the old alton bridge

That enraged
the local ku klux klan.

In the dark of the night,

They lynched oscar
on that very same bridge.

I'll say when they were doing
those reenactments,

The people in the town
were freaking out.

-Oh, yeah.
-That's right.

-Like something was going on...
-That's right.

When we when we film our stuff,
we have we have another crew

That films the reenactments.

And they re-created
that reenactment

And got all these calls
from the police.

Can you imagine seeing...

They saw a bunch
of hooded people

On a bridge with a fire.

-Right.
-Be terrifying.

Zak: There are those who believe
that oscar now haunts

The woods
in a half-man-half-goat form.

Whether a vengeful spirit
or something more,

There's no doubt that
when the sun goes down,

These woods come alive.

Do you believe the satanic
worshippers that come here

Are conjuring demons
in this forest?

Oh, absolutely.

Zak: One evening, belynda
and a group of friends

Witnessed something
disturbing in this forest.

The group ended up
walking down this trail,

And I just had a very uneasy
feeling about doing that.

And so I ended up staying
up at the fence by myself.

I started hearing a bunch
of rustling behind me.

I knew
something was there.

Terrified
and in complete panic,

Belynda took a photo
when she felt this presence,

And in the picture appeared
a black cloaked figure.

About that time,
my arm was burning.

I looked down,
and I had three marks

That started at a point
on this part of my wrist

And went all the way up
to my elbow in three marks.

Oh, my gosh.

Imagine how many people
have had these experiences

And just never said
anything.

-Hello.
-Hi.

-I'm zak.
-I'm phoebe.

-Nice to meet you.
-Nice to meet you.

So I hear that
you didn't have

A very pleasant experience
in the forest here.

We were all standing
in a circle

Asking the spirits
not to follow us home.

And I hunched forward,
and I thought,

"I just got bit by a spider,"
'cause it burned, burned,

Burned.

I mean, it burned so bad.
Lifted my shirt up.

I had three long scratches
that started from the top

And then webbed out
at the bottom.

What happened after
you noticed the scratches?

I wasn't
in control of myself.

I was not in control
of my feelings, my emotions,

Almost to the point

Where I wasn't in control
of my body.

Zak, I wanted to turn around
and punch everybody.

And you wanted to
just attack people.

I wanted to just go "brum!"
and just whack 'em all down.

Yeah.
-With what?

My fist.

It's already
giving me chills, just...

[ laughing ]
I know

Zak: I sense that phoebe
is holding something back.

Is that all you wanted to do?
You just wanted to punch 'em?

I'm gonna say.

I need to hear the truth.
Did you want to kill 'em?

Absolutely.

Did you have visions
of doing this?

Whatever we encountered here,
this is one location

That I feel still has a piece
really attached to me.

Because I wasn't planning on
interviewing her son,

But he was standing off camera,
and I wanted his take on this.

She was just
not acting herself.

She just acted extremely weird,
like something was in her.

Were you scared
for your mom?

Yes, I was.

In that impromptu interview,

He didn't hesitate to give me
those answers,

Which justified
her testimony.

Zak: And stranger still,
the same name keeps appearing.

And we ask who that was,
and he told us it was steve.

At the time,
we were communicating with

I believe his name
is steve.

We kept getting this name
on our evps about steve.

A lot of demons will give you,
like, a human name

Just to try to trick you.

What is she doing?

Jay?

Something's happening to her.

Zak: Why are you back here
in the woods?

♪♪

Oh, this is ashley.
Ashley is jay's ex-wife.

Zak: Ashley,
our still photographer,

All of a sudden begins crying
off camera

And does not look like herself.

I immediately take her
to the bus.

Are you okay?

When I was just interviewing
her, I looked over at you,

And you did not look
like yourself.

You want leave here or what?
What do you want to do?

Dude, you can see actually
just staring right there.

-She wanted to kill me here.
-Yeah. Look at it.

Look at that look.
-Ash.

Wow.

You've been given pure looks
of evil, like, in your eyes.

I've never seen that before.
I noticed it at the bridge.

you're feeling right now?

right now, ash.

Like, something's got
ahold of you.

Jay, this is your wife.

Jay: I don't know.

Jay, did this investigation

Have something to do
with your divorce with her?

I think
it ultimately did.

After this investigation,
like, we never

Really got back to it.

This was disturbing.

And, jay, I know this is
probably hard for you to watch.

Like, I don't like
watching this one just 'cause

It was definitely a catalyst
that put things in motion

That, over a course, of time

Just never got
any better after this

And ultimately led to
our divorce.

Zak: At this point, I'm
extremely concerned for ashley.

I ask the ladies
that I interviewed

Who have experienced this before

To come over
and help her through this.

This has never happened to her.
-Yeah.

And it felt bad, you know,
because, one,

She was my wife at the time,
and for you guys,

I know she was probably
like a sister.
Yeah.

And to see, like, part of
our family go through that,

You know, like,
it was scary.

-Are you just feeling sad or...
-Anger.

And it just -- emotion
hit me, like this.

And this is kind of
difficult to watch

'cause I know what this led
to with jay and with us.

Just keep fighting it.
Just know that it's not you.

It's something that's trying
to take over your emotions,

And you're not
gonna let it.

Ashley -- this is the last
episode she ever worked on.

-That's right.
-And she loved it, too.

It was a hard decision.

I remember her
talking about it.

We didn't expect this.

I mean, ultimately,
it's probably good she left,

In a way 'cause if she wasn't
able to step away from it,

Who knows how much
it would have taken over?

I didn't want her back
at this site after this day.

-But she demanded to come back.

Yeah. That's I'm saying --
she was tough.

I was mad right here.

Zak: This is your way
of getting at us,

Taking the only woman
on our crew

And breaking her down?

I was extremely pissed.

You prey upon women.
You attack them.

This is what you do?

Whatever you are,
you're a coward.

That's all that you are.

I knew right then and there
that, like,

What these women
were telling us --

This is really real,
you know?

And I don't think any of us

Had any idea
where this was gonna go.

As you all remember, we had
a rather disturbing moment

While we were filming
here yesterday.

Ashley, something happened
to you in the forest

Just keep fighting it.
Just know that it's not you.

In the years
that I have known you,

I've never seen you
affected like that ever.

No, I mean, it's -- I think
it's important to watch.

It was a terrible
experience.

It was a terrible part
of my life for a while,

But I don't want
to forget this.

to the hotel,

Deep into the forest.

you're gonna be out of range

Of our walkie talkies,
and I don't think

There's cellphone service
that far in the forest.

I don't want to say I was hoping
you would fall in,

But I was kind of hoping
you'd fall in.

I'm pretty sure
you were hoping.

-Wow, jay.
-It would've been hilarious.

-Jay, that was, yeah.
-That would have been good tv.

-I was hoping that --
-look at that, look at that.

I almost fell right there.

I literally almost fell.
-There!

-Right there, right there.
-[ laughs ]

Almost went in.

And those waters are infested
with fricking water moccasins.

Zak: It is now time for ashley
to attempt to confront

Whatever it was that took
control of her emotions

During our interviews.

-I can't believe she did that.
-No.

I don't know if we should have
let her do this.

Zak: As she enters this evil
black abyss all by herself,

We will be monitoring her
very closely

From this mobile nerve center...

-Can you tell I was nervous?
-Mm-hmm.

Zak:
...Watching with our cameras

But not close enough
to provide protection.

She's probably one of the
toughest girls I know, you know?

I just still can't believe that,
like, this --

This is the last episode
that she did.

it's brush or a bear.

This a classic scene
out of a horror movie.
Right.

Send her off into the trail
into the haunted woods.

You know, like, let's see
if she gets attacked.

Ashley:
I'm getting a little nervous.

Whoa.

She wanted to do this.

We did not put her
into this situation.

She said she wanted
to face it.

Zak: At this moment,
billy is about a mile

From where he launched in this
flowing artery of evil blood.

You're out of
walkie-talkie range.

-Right.
-You had no signal.

This is so insane.
I've never been here before.

I have no idea
where I'm going right now.

No idea where I'm going.

Okay. I'm just going
down the river here.

There could be anybody
in these woods.

And I'm just an open target.

When it comes to
some dangerous stunts...

[ laughter ]

That's what we got
bill for.

...Bill is a brave guy.

Ashley:
Are you here now?

Show yourself.

-That started getting scary...
-Yeah.

...When she was doing that.

[ indistinct shouting ]

Zak: We begin to notice
just how personal

The disturbing experience
ashley had earlier was for her

As she begins to aggressively
confront this entity.

Ashley:
You can't possess me anymore!

I'm not afraid of you!

That's when I wanted
to get out of the bus.

She started seeing things
in the woods here.
Yeah.

I was just any minute ready
to just run at her

And get her out of there.

Something hits her,
too, right?

I thought she just tripped.

Yeah, you can kind of
hear something.

[ thud ]

Ashley: Ugh!

Zak: At this moment
when ashley falls to one knee

And hits the ground,

We are completely unaware
that she feels

An unseen force
strike her in the head.

Yeah, something hit her.

-Yeah.
-See?

-She had, like a big, like...
-Yeah!

-...A big egg on her head.
-We didn't know, though.

Zak: Only later will we see
the mark

That this force left on her.

-Oh. I'm getting chills.
-Yeah.

This is really
one of the first times

I've sat and watched
this whole episode.

I think we went
too far with this.

This is a real-life
horror movie.

Zak: As billy moves farther away
from the goatman's bridge,

The forest is closing in.

God, bill.

Nature itself
was scary out there.

I got to be a good
three, four miles

Way back here from the bridge.

All the way around this river

Just winds back into
this endless amount of forest

So I think it's a good time
to head back right now

And see if I can meet up
with everybody.

You just went
for miles and miles, bill.

I'm trying really hard
to keep my cool

And not get all scared
and rock this boat and roll over

'cause this thing could flip
instantly.

If I were to just lean wrong
one way,

All the gear, everything
would be in the river.

I kind of feel like
I'm helpless.

I'm just sitting here.

Listen to this.

We're hearing gunshots

While we're out
in the woods at dark.
At night!

Yeah, that's a good --
that's a good sign.

Zak: All of a sudden,
billy hears

A distant gunshot in the woods,

And it's much louder
and closer to ashley.

Ashley: What is that?

-Billy, come in.
-Go for billy.

Zak: Did you hear a gunshot
out by you, or no?

Actually, I did hear it --
one loud gunshot.

Oh, the sound of that.

Oh, man, I'm getting anxiety
just watching this.

[ laughing ]
this is a tough one.

Zak:
We are very curious to know

Where this unexplained gunshot
came from.

Right as we are about
to radio ashley

To come back to base,

Something makes its presence
known to her

Both audibly and visually.

Ashley: Why are you doing
this to people?

Is there something
I need to know?

Look at!

Aah!

-What was that?
-I don't know.

Ashley:
Can you hear...

Listen.

Ashley: Is there something
I need to know?

Aah!

Zak:
Soon after ashley freaks out

From hearing something growl
at her,

She amazingly stands her ground
and remains in the woods,

At which time she begins seeing

This very oddly shaped
glowing anomaly.

That's crazy.

-What is that?
-She saw that with her own eyes.

Ashley: Yeah.
There's, like, a weird light.

I don't know how to explain it.

It was just weird light
right over there.

And it's not there anymore.

Who are you?

She's still there.

I can't believe
she hung in there

After that hit to her head.

-Right?
-That dropped her.

Zak:
When ashley returns to base,

We notice a swollen welt
on the side of her face

Where earlier she felt

This unseen force
knock her to the ground.

-Holy crap.
-Right?

Zak: Ashley, who has been
our still photographer

On "ghost adventures" for years

Sadly had to quit the show
after suffering

A very serious attachment that
she is still dealing with today.

Damn.

Yeah, that's still
a sore one, huh?

Well, I like to say
from everything I've heard --

I haven't talked her in a while,
but she's doing okay.

-Are you doing okay?

Yeah, I mean, right now
it's sad to see all this,

But I'm in
a much better place now.

It was a tough few years,
honestly, after all this.

But, you know, persevered
pushed through.

Zak: After seeing the female
member of our crew

Physically marked and in pain,

Our suspicions of these woods
and bridge being haunted

By an evil creature
are quickly becoming a reality.

As billy finally returns,
it is now time for us

To enter the woods
and hunt down this entity.

At this point,
I was more scared

About the snakes
than I was the demons.

Oh, yeah.
What's your biggest fear?

Snakes.

We're going to watch
each other's backs.

Worst part about that

Was you'd be walking
through the forest,

And you'd hear them
slithering past you...

Oh, gosh.
It was ridiculous.

It was like you just figured
you were gonna get bit.

It was like pure hell.

I forgot about that.

-Oh!
-Oh, my god!

That was on my neck!

Look at how big
this thing was.

Oh, my god, bro!
That's just horrible, dude.

That was, like,
on my jugular.
Right?

Zak: What we capture next
is absolutely amazing.

Now watch!

You can easily make out
two glowing eyes

As they manifest
in the center of the entrance.

Do you remember that?

-Dude!
-Look at that. Look!

Zak: These eyes are
free-floating in mid-air.

They have no body,
and we can not debunk them

As being anything
easily explainable,

As this is not
any type of animal.

I thought that was
incredible, you guys.

Dude, and this is literally
30 seconds...
Just two glowing eyes!

...Into the start of us
going in there.

This one messed me up, bad.

Yeah, it messed us all up.

♪♪

-What was that?
-I hated this investigation.

-What was that?
-I just heard humming.

Aaron: I just heard "hummmm"
right down there.

I'm sorry. I heard --
jay, I heard it behind you.

Jay: It's a good thing
I stopped.

I would have walked
right into it.

Forests terrify me.

Those are some of the most
terrifying investigations.

When you walk into
that forest,

Right at that moment,
you enter a whole new place.

It's totally different
on the other side.
A whole different dimension.

Some just hit
some wood over here.

Aaron: Yeah.
And then I heard humming,

Like, "hmm, hmm, hmm."

What was that?

I think a lot of haunted
forests are overlooked.
Oh, yeah.

I think everybody's
so just wanting a house

With a roof on it
to be haunted.

But forests -- there's so many
things with nature

That we don't understand.

Zak: We are in the woods
surrounding goatman's bridge,

And something clearly
doesn't want us here.

What was that?

And at the same time
I felt something hit me,

There was a black --
do you see that?

That black mass?

-Yeah.
-What was that?

Something just touched
my leg, man.

Aaron: Bro, I just saw
a shadow fly by.

Let's rewind.

I was terrified right here.

And now that you got us,
what are you gonna do to us?

We're here in your habitat.
We crossed your bridge.

Oh, my god, dude.
This is...Ugh.

-Wait, wait.
-You all right?

No, this is like pure
watching my worst nightmare.

Zak:
After walking for miles

And peering between
thousands of branches

That resemble the long, crooked
fingers of the grim reaper,

We can only sense the presence
of something sinister

Watching our every move.

We cannot yet see it
with our own eyes.

So jay suggests the ultimate
and most dangerous plan ever.

Jay, you want to go try to
conjure him?

I was just thinking that.
Stir it up.

I kind of blame you still,
jay, for this.

[ laughs ]

You blame him?

[ laughing ] for him doing
the ritual on us.

I was completely against
the ritual.

I didn't want
anything to do with that.

Jay: I was doing
a lot of research

Because of everything
that's been going on.

I wanted to see
what we're dealing with.

And I found this ancient text
that has a step-by-step process

On how to banish demons.

I've never done this before,

And I don't recommend
anyone ever doing this.

It's not satanic.
It's nothing like that.

Because of the intensity,

That's the only reason
I want to try this,

Because whatever is here
is ancient, it's powerful,

And I think fighting fire
with fire

Might actually work
on this thing.

A lot of investigators
in the paranormal field --

They're just so
equipment-based, I think.

And we like to really go kind
of deeper into experimenting,

And I think that rituals
and things like that,

Basically, I'm conjuring
three demons,

These three demons

We kept getting this name
on our evps about steve.

We were communicating with
I believe his name is steve.

We had a voice that came over
on the bridge

That told us to leave.

We ask who that was,
and he told us it was steve.

This was incredible to me
when we got the name

That came out of this.

It connected to everything.
