Illiteracy.
Now, I did some research here.

committee estimates'

that in the United States,
there are as many as

twenty three million people
who are functionally illiterate.

What does that mean? Means
they can't read street signs.

'They can't even read
medicine labels.'

'They can't fill out
a job application.'

And additionally,
there are 35 million more adults

who read at a level
which is less than they need

to compete in society.

Which category would you say
Ron Conco belongs to?

- You knew Ron couldn't read?

I also know you've been
trying to teach him.

- But it's not going to work.

I mean, we still got
a little bit of time

left before the SATs.

with numbers and symbols

he'll s-score as high as 450.

A-and then he only needs 250
on the verbal part.

for just completing the form.
