The Legend of Fragrance

Episode 11

Was the a gun shot?

Why did I just hear the sound of a gun shot?

Mr. An, Teacher, what are you guys up to?

And that Tyrant, why hasn't he come to rescue me?

Us polices really want to see

just who is bold enough

to use the devil looking for brides legend to scare everyone!

All of you, turn around!

Isn't this Ning Hao Tian's oldest son?

Ning Zhi Yuan?

Since you recognize me, then don't waste my time.

We are still rushing to save someone.

Yo, it's Wen Jing Chang's second son, Wen Shi Xuan.

I can't believe the people who were creating chaos in Mo Wang region with the kidnapping cases,

is actually the two chairman's sons.

- You...! - Mr. Chief, you've mistaken.

Don't say anymore useless words!

If you have anything to say, wait until we've returned to the police station to say them!

Someone!

Wow Chief, you actually dare to arrest Young Master, I.

Stuff their mouths!

Aren't you scared that someone will-

- Take them away! - Come on! Walk!

Give me the cloth!

Don't expose my real identity before we solve this case.

Relax, I know.

Walk!

Stop!

Who are you people and what are you doing?

Mr. Chief, please don't misunderstand.

I am Mo Wang region's Flower Chairman.

Oh, so it's the Flower Chairman.

Mr. Chief,

coming up this mountain in the middle of the night just to investigate this case, you've worked hard.

Owner Ning, did you come up this mountain to aid your son,

or to convince me of your son's innocence?

I wouldn't dare. Mr. Chief, you're teasing me.

I also got the news

that someone was pretending to be the devil and brought a carriage into the mountains.

So I immediately sent someone to inform the Flower Chairman

and ordered my son and Doctor An come up the mountain first to find the devil's location.

We wholeheartedly wanted to find the devil early and do something good for the police station.

Owner Ning is correct. It was Owner Ning who sent his housekeeper to inform me.

And look, we've come up the mountain together to catch the devil.

So how can Ning family's Young Master be the culprit of this case?

Bring them here.

Wen family's Second Young Master?

Why did you pretend to the devil and scare everyone?

Mr. Chief, please look.

My son, Zhi Yuan, looks like he has fought with the devil.

The Flower Chairman has also proved our innocence.

My son cannot possibly have teamed up with Young Master Wen, this fake devil.

Please let my son go first.

Then take Doctor An aside and make him speak the truth.

Just in case you're all in this together.

Let's go.

No one is guarding the road up the Mo Wang mountain.

Good. Put on your masks and let's go.

Wait, wait, wait.

Ning Hao Tian has a solid alibi.

Now, even the Flower Society says he's innocent.

How sure are you that you'll be able to secretly investigate inside the Ning mansion?

Although it is very likely that Ning Hao Tian is the culprit, he is very sneaky.

As of right now, I am not sure I'll be able to find those women.

Then I have no choice but to let Ning Zhi Yuan go.

Mo Wang region is governed by the people.

Especially these flower peasants, who govern the Flower Society themselves.

Ning Hao Tian has the Flower Chairman's tesifying for him.

It wouldn't be good if I stubbornly try to arrest Ning Zhi Yuan.

We don't have any other choices.

So hungry.

I already asked.

This time, Doctor An and Young Master Ning,

really did come to capture the fake devil for everyone's sake.

What happened tonight was all a misunderstanding.

Someone, let Doctor An and Young Master Ning go.

Give the gun back to Young Master Ning.

Thank you, Mr. Chief.

Dad.

Dad, the truth is Young Master Wen isn't the devil either.

- He- - Shut up.

Just mind your own business, why do you have to mind other people's business?

Dad.

For now, let's worry about our own safety first.

Lord Wen will definitely find a way to convince Mr. Chief to let Young Master Wen go.

Then I'm sorry, Wen Shi Xuan.

Don't think that I've betrayed you.

It's your fault for being pig-brained. Why did you have to dress up as the devil in order to save Le Yan?

Take him away!

Thank you Flower Chairman for testifying for me and my son.

Not at all.

Owner Ning, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't know that

Young Master Wen would do something so crazy.

I will immediately go find Owner Wen for an explanation.

Let's go.

Bastard! Look at the trouble you've caused!

Father, let's talk when we go home.

It's so cold here. Let's go, let's go.

Didn't you say you wanted to save Le Yan? What about her?

Who cares about her.

Let that dirty brat admire the starry night on this mountain.

Father, let's go home.

Why can't I smell anything?

Oh no, why can't I smell anything?

What are you doing?

I understand my dad's temper all too well. He would never let me go up the mountain to rescue that dirty brat.

It's better to make him unconscious and go save Le Yan.

But if he wakes up he won't let go of you.

Even a monster wouldn't harm its own children. At most, he'll just beat me again.

Yi Chen bro, take my dad back to the mansion.

I have to go up the mountain to save that dirty brat.

How is my shoe broken?

Yi Chen bro, my shoes are broken. Let's switch shoes.

Later you can ride the horse, I still have to climb the mountain.

Stop hesitating, hurry up.

Hurry, hurry, hurry.

Your shoe is pretty comfortable. Who made it for you?

I going first.

Oh no, why can't I hear anything?

What to do? I can't speak either.

I'm mute and deaf.

Could it be that the devil is really coming?

Carry it away (in Japanese).

Run! (in Japanese)

You little thieves. Where did you come from, causing trouble?

If you want to survive, then leave.

Then Young Master, I, will scare you to the point where you pee your pants!

Dirty brat, are you okay?

Hey, why are you ignoring me?

Could it be that you're still angry?

Why are you so petty?

Hey, you mute?

His gun can only hold six bullets.

We have to think of a way to make him use up all his bullets.

Dirty brat, move aside a little.

Hey, dirty brat. Don't think I'm taking advantage of you.

It's this carriage's fault for being so small.

It's too small for two people.

Dirty brat, right now you're like a frightened little deer.

- Don't worry. Although I'm interested in you, I'm definitely not a pervert. - Go! (in Japanese) - Yes! (in Japanese)

I definitely will not take advantage of you.

Hey, who are you guy? I can't understand what you are saying.

He has heard our accents. We must kill him.

Father, don't kill them.

In order to do big things, you must act swiftly and coldly.

Why do I help you take off your blindfold.

Wait, no. Right now I'm playing with my life.

If I play the role of the hero and fail to protect even myself,

wouldn't I come off as embarassing?

Dirty brat, sorry.

Even if you yell at me later for being a pervert,

even if you ignore me, I'll accept it.

Dirty brat, why did you bite me?

Dirty brat, I only have one bullet left in my gun.

If those devils aren't scared of by it,

then we're both died.

But relax even if we die,

I will protect you.

These past years, he has been extremely careful.

But even so, he has aged this much.

It seems his conscience has suffered as much as mine these past years.

- Dad, should we kill him? - No.

If we let him die like this, it would be too easy of a death for him.

I want him to witness with his own eyes,

ruining the Ning family's line by his own hands!

I want him to live.

In order to see his relatives, his son and his daughter,

die in front of him!

I want to let him

live like a dead person the way I lived in the past!

Dirty brat, I know you're really angry right now.

Actually it's also my first time kissing a girl,

so I'm nervous right now.

I don't want you to see my face.

I will take off your blindfold.

Don't move.

I will untie you.

Dirty brat, hit me all you want if you like.

But not the face, because I want to die prettier.

This is the shoe I made for him.

Mr An?

I never thought that the one who would risk his life in order to save me is...

Seems like you are better to me.

But just now...

- Go! (in Japanese) - Yes! (in Japanese)

He has no more bullets.

Father, don't kill Zhi Yuan.

Don't kill Zhi...

- Throw him down there! (in Japanese) - Yes!

Let me go! Let me go!

Let me go!

- Kill him! (in Japanese) - Yes! (in Japanese)

Dirty brat, let go of my hand.

Or else you'll fall too.

Why are you staring at me? Never saw someone this handsome?

I've never met someone as disgusting as you.

So what if you have money.

The best way to deal with good-for-nothing like you is to ignore you.

Dirty brat, let go of my hand.

You can't hold on to me.

If I could also learn how to save flowers,

how good would that be.

That's easy.

If you marry me and become NIng's family's daughter in law, then it's done.

Dream on!

Dirty brat, I've already kissed up a few moments ago.

It's all worth it.

When you marry in the future,

remember to come to my grave and offer some celebration wine.

Let go!

♫ With this cavity of blood, I go to recite the chapters of life. ♫

♫ I strive to participate and understand as that one parched bone morphs into spring snow. ♫

♫ Bitter suffering follows along the union of the world. The heart is mysteriously steely. ♫

♫ I will never choke back my sobs towards the heavens. I will mold the tears into a brave heart. ♫

- Mom - Shi Xuan...

Where's dad?

After you left, your dad was worried so he went with some people to go get you.

What? Owner Wen has also went to up the Mo Wa mountain?

If he interrupts the devil's marriage,

it will bring disaster to peasants and our Fragrance Society.

Mr. Chief, what devil looking for brides? What offering ceremony?

This is all a scheme.

Young Master Wen, each place has its own rules.

We the police are only in charge of investigating cases.

How can we interfere with the Flower Society's matters?

Mr. Chief, you really do know best.

Concerning whether or not Young Master Wen is the devil,

I'll leave it to Mr. Chief to investigate. I still have to go to the Devil's Mountain,

to prevent Owner Wen from disrupting the offering ceremony. I will take my leave now.

Lord, she's over there.

Le Yan? Quickly!

Le Yan.

Mr. Chief, you know my identity and where I live. There's no way I can run away so please let me go first.

No way. After we've throughly searched the Wen mansion,

we still have to take you back to the police station to question you.

I'm not scared of going to the police station to be questioned by you.

But I want to take a bath and change my clothes.

Then I'll go with you to the police station, okay?

No can do.

The devil's clothing that you have on right now is evidence that you pretended to be the devil.

How can I let you change it?

Mom, please tell Mr. Chief. It's been almost two hours!

Mr. Chief, my son has had a condition ever since he was small.

He must take a bath every two hours to medicate his illness.

You have a good relationship with my lord.

Please for the sake of your friendship,

Let my son go take a bath and medicate his illness.

When my lord returns, you will be rewarded generously.

Let him go.

Lord Wen, please stop.

Flower Chairman.

Lord Wen.

You've disrupted the offering ceremony. How will you make it up to us, the Flower Society?

I'm sorry, Flower Chairman.

I don't have anything against the Flower Society.

Le Yan will be married into our Wen family.

Everyone in the Mo Wang region knows of this since the Bride Competition last month.

I promise, Le Yan is not the reincarnated devil's wife.

If I cannot even protect my son's wife,

then I would be too embarrassed to live in this world.

But what your actions.

How will you give us, the Flower Society, an explanation?

Flower Chairman, in order to express my apology to the Flower Society,

I am willing to give up the chairman positions for both Mei Hua district and Li Hua district.

As well as offer a thousand silver dollars as an apology.

What problems do Young Master Wen have?

That he needs to bath in medicine every two hours?

That is a little hard to explain.

I don't wish to bother Mr. Chief with my problems.

News!

Mr. Chief,

we have throughly examined the whole Wen mansion and have no trance of those missing women.

We have also not found anything suspicious.

I understand.

Now it seems like everything really was just a misunderstanding.

But...

In order to prove that Young Master Wen was just going up te mountain without any ill intentions,

I hope Young Master Wen has someone who can testify for him.

Those servants who went with you up the mountain cannot count as witnesses.

You must find someone who has no relationship whatsoever to the Wen family.

But other than our Wen mansion's people, there was only Young Master Ning.

Our two families are not very friendly with one another. How would he be willing to testify?

No. Other than Young Master Ning,

Doctor An can also testify for me.

Doctor An?

Isn't his relationship with the Ning family very good?

Doctor An is not a local, he just lives in the Ning mansion.

Only so he can help Young Master Ning and Lady Ning with their illness.

He is a good and honest person. He would definitely be willing to testify for me.

Then that's good. Then that's good!

Ning Zhi Yuan!

Zhi Yuan? Ning Zhi Yuan!

Father, why did you kill Ning Zhi Yuan?

He has himself to blame for being so nosy.

I was afraid if I carried a gun, the peasants guarding the mountain might hear. So I didn't carry a gun.

Yet he actually carried a gun with him. Or else he would not have be able to delay us last night.

And right now, we would have successfully bought Le Yan to Shanghai.

There are many chances in the future to take Le Yan away.

But why did you commit murder?

We should have called off the plan last night and look for another chance.

Hui Zi, Ning Zhi Yuan heard the words we exchanged with one another.

Although he cannot understand Japanese, he was able to deduct that we weren't locals.

In order to hide our identity, we had to kill him.

Father, my purpose in coming to the Mo Wang region,

was so I could attain the fragrance book and make the world's best fragrance.

So I could cure my illness and get the man I love's heart.

You said you wanted to take control of Mo Wang region's fragrance business.

To expand the Japanese Fragrance society's influence here and to acquire their newly made fragrance.

To win the World's Best Fragrance Award.

I also support this.

But I've never wanted to kill anyone.

Hui Zi, you should understand.

Everything that I've done is not for myself.

Instead it is for the Fragrance Society. This is such a selfless

and noble goal.

But...

No more but's.

In order to achieve our goal, you must give up

some of the beliefs you have. To surpass the limits of your heart.

But that can't include killing people.

Of course it does. In order to do big things, how can you not kill people?

Those who fall because of this,

are all helping to realize our goal by making sacrifices.

This type of sacrifice,

is very noble.

Zhi Yuan! Ning Zhi Yuan?

I hope these two bottles of medicine will be useful.

Ning Zhi Yuan, you must not die.

Aunt! Aunt!

- Ah Gui. - Aunt, Le Yan has returned.

- Really? - Really!

Le Yan was probably stressed so she passed out on the mountain last night.

Wen family's Lord and Young Master bought a carriage and rescued Le Yan.

Right now, Wen family's Second Lady is personally escorting her back.

What? Wen family's Second Lady is coming?

Mrs. Le, we've escorted Le Yan back.

Although Le Yan has experienced some stress, no damage is done. Her condition-

Sister.. (not real sister, they share the same husband)

Twelve Years Ago Uncle, where are you? Uncle.

Uncle, you still haven't finished peeing?

Heaven,

all these sins were caused

by me alone.

Please let me die to wash all this away.

But I beg you to protect my son.

Ruo Huan.

Ruo Huan.

Lady.

Ruo Huan, why are you here alone?

Uncle said he was going to take me to a good place.

To find my dad and mom. But when we came here, he suddenly disappeared.

A good place? What good place?

Uncle said that good place has a lot of candy.

There are a lot of good clothes to wear.

And there are a lot of little kids to play with me.

Is that uncle's surname Ning?

No, Uncle's surname isn't Ning. He's the housekeeper of the Ning mansion.

Ning Hao Tian,

although I've betrayed Mr. An,

the Heavens have already punished me.

But you won't even let a child go.

Aren't you scared of karma?

Lady, what is karma?

Karma is...

What type of seed you sow,

will determine what type of flower will grow.

Oh, so if we plant the world's most beautiful flower's seed,

then the world's most beautiful flower will go?

Yes, Ruo Huan you're correct.

If you plant a melon seed, you'll get a melon. If you plant a bean seed, you'll get beans.

Kind acts will lead to kind acts. Revenge will lead to revenge.

Heavens, I finally understand.

I must live well.

I will raise Ruo Huan and pay for my sin.

I only beg you, please protect my son.

Let us reunite one day.

Ruo Huan, from now on I am your mom.

Don't call me Lady, call me mom.

Why?

Because you are my daughter.

I am your mom.

So we will plant the world's most beautiful flower's seed.

Now I'll give you a new name.

You like to smile so much, I'll name you Le Yan.

I hope you can always be so happy.

You have to remember. You are no longer called Ruo Huan, you are Le Yan now.

Why?

Because there are a lot of storms in this world.

The most beautiful flower's seed is very fragile.

Mom has to protect it and not let bad people harm it.

This way, it can successfully grow up.

So the most beautiful flower can bloom.

Come with mom, okay?

Here, drink some water.

Thank you, sister.

Sit down.

Ever since he cut off all contacts with you, the Lord has calmed down and realized what he did was a bit too much.

So he sent people to gather information on you but they were unable to find gather any information.

I never thought you'd live your life as a peasant here in this peaceful village.

Le Yan is...?

Le Yan is an orphan.

I was alone and without company so I adopted her.

She still believes I am her real mother.

So please keep this a secret for me, sister.

Then you've been raising her for twelve years.

She should have been six years old when you adopted her.

She should know that you're not her real mom, right?

I use the forgetful perfume on her.

So she has forgotten every memory before the age of six, as of now.

All these years, it must have been hard to raise Le Yan all alone.

It was hard.

But I managed.

Sister,

you didn't think I was the one who betrayed Mr. Qui, did you?

No, no.

I believe you must have been framed.

Thank you for believing in me.

But the Lord, he...

Don't try to stop her! Let her go!

These lying and evil-hearted women,

will only bring trouble to the Wen family if she stays.

But she has already lost her side of the family. Where do you expect her to go?

Let her have no family at all!

From now on,

she has no relation whatsoever to the Wen family!

Although this happened many years ago,

but those words that the Lord said has remained in my ears all these years.

Every time I think of it, my heart experiences so much agony.

I still don't understand,

why was the fragrance that Ning Hao Tian made on my body?

I've never talked to Ning Hao Tian.

How did this fragrance show up on my body?

So I suspect,

that the person who used Ning Hao Tian's Butterfly Fragrance on my body....

is the person who betrayed Mr. Qui.

Sister, what's wrong?

When I sent Le Yan home earlier, I forgot to put on another layer of clothes.

So I'm a bit cold.

I think it's not your body that's cold.

Instead, it's your heart, isn't it?

Lian Lu Yi, can you get on your knees and promise the Heavens the way I did back then,

and promise that you've never done anything that you need to apologize? To me and to Mr. Qiu?!

Say that, if you lie even a little, you'll lose your only son, Wen Shi Xuan!

Sister! Sister, I'm sorry. It's all my fault.

Sister, please forgive me.

But I really didn't have any choice back then.

It was you.

It really was you.

You betrayed Mr. Qui.

And framed me.

Why?

Why did you do that?!

It is all my fault. Please forgive me, sister.

But I really had no other choice.

Sister, do you remember back then,

when Mr. Qiu helped us compete against Ning Hao Tian?

I remember.

Back then, I went to a temple to pray.

On the road there, I realized Shi Xuan was missing.

Shi Xuan? Shi Xuan!

You two, go over there and look.

Shi Xuan! Shi Xuan! Shi Xuan!

Second Lady.

Turns out, Ning Hao Tian kidnapped Shi Xuan.

He said that he poisoned Shi Xuan was a poison that only he could cure.

He forced me, he forced me to tell him where Mr. Qiu was.

So...

So you were scared that the Lord would blame you for betraying Mr. Qiu.

And so you put Ning Hao Tian's Butterfly Fragrance

on my body?

To frame me, correct?

I'm sorry, sister. Please forgive me.

I beg you to forgive me.

I will definitely go tell the Lord and have him escort you back home.

But I beg you, please don't tell the Lord the truth.

You understand the Lord's temper.

If he found out the truth, he would definitely kick me out.

I'm not as strong as you. If I leave the Wen mansion, I wouldn't be able to survive anymore.

I beg you.

Sister.

Sister.

Save me! Is there anyone?

Save me!

Why am I so high up?

Save me! Dirty brat! Hey!

Were you kidnapped by those devil looking for brides people?

How can you be so ungrateful?

What the situation? Has Young Master come back yet?!

He hasn't...

A bunch of useless garbage!

Lord.

Did you find that bastard yet?

No. We've checked all the locations Young Master usual goes to and we couldn't find him.

We can't find him anywhere.

We even searched the whole Mo Wang region and we still can't find him.

There is no trace of Young Master anywhere.

I think he realized I'm seriously mad this time so he doesn't date to come back.

Then how about Le Yan? Is she still on the devil's mountain.

No.

After the police took Wen Shi Xuan away,

Wen Jing Chang went up the mountain with servants and escorted Le Yan down.

In the end, under the pressure of the Flower Society, he gave up his two Chairman positions.

This Wen Jing Chang is extremely calculating. He never does business if he knows he'll lose out.

He was willing to give up two Chairman positions for Le Yan...

This Le Yan just has an above average nose.

She's a little braver than most average women.

Is she worth such a big sacrifice?

That Wen Jing Chang is always bragging about how upright his family is and how he is a man of his words.

Maybe he's trying to fix the problems that his Bridal Competition caused.

What upright family? What man of his words?

They were extremely ungrateful when they betrayed An Qiu Sheng.

Yes.

They're upright people?

They're just better at hiding their wrongdoings than other families.

Since Doctor An is willing to stand as witness for Young Master,

then this proves what happened last night was all a big misunderstanding.

I hope Owner Wen won't take this to heart.

I understand, I understand.

It is all thanks to your thorough investigation, Mr. Chief.

Mr. Chief, those police officers from last night must be very tired.

Go.

Here's some money, it's just a little something.

I hope Mr. Chief will invite those police officers out for a drink in my favor.

Then I'll accept this without being rude.

I'll leave.

Then I won't see you off.

Sure.

Lord, it seems the Mei Hua and Li Hua

Chairman position has not be given to anyone yet.

They're planning to come see you, Lord.

To recommended you to all four district's chairman!

Really?

I heard it with my own ears.

.

Let's not focus on the Young Master right now.

I think once his anger subsides, he'll come back.

We should immediately tell the servants to go clean up and prepare.

We have to prepare to receive the two district's representatives.

Yes, Lord.

All of you, come with me.

Yes.

Mr An, thank you for stepping in and helping.

You're too polite. Shi Xuan is my friend.

It only makes sense to stand in witness for my friend.

Not only is Mr An's medical skills on par, you're also a great person.

Shi Xuan is lucky to be able to make a good friend like you.

Lord.

Congratulation, Second Lady has send word that Le Yan's mother has agreed to this marriage.

She wants you to send a matchmaker and send engagement gifts to the Le family immediately.

- Really? - Yes, really.

This is great.

I'm sorry, sister. Please forgive me!

I beg you to forgive me.

Get up first.

You're a mother.

You deserve forgiveness because you did a wrong thing in order to save your child.

I am also a mother.

I can understand why you did that.

And anyways, in these twelve years,

I pray everyday and do charitable things.

In hopes that I can one day get what I want.

I wish that one day,

I can see him again.

Sister, thank you so much for your forgiveness.

I will immediately go inform the Lord and have him escort you back.

I won't hide this from you. In truth, the Lord has been very regretful all these years.

He keeps the things that you used to use.

And he has never changed my status.

It has been twelve years, the Lord won't be angry anymore.

No.

I won't go back.

You don't need to tell him that I am Le Yan's mother.

Maybe after all these years, he has forgiven me.

But I cannot forgive him.

He believed I committed a sin and kicked me out.

Even though we had been husband and wife for so many years, he couldn't find it in his heart to find compassion for me.

I cannot let that go.

Sister.

If you really feel guilty for what you did to me,

please keep this a secret for me.

You should go tell him to bring a matchmaker.

Then pick a date and marry Le Yan home.

Do you don't want to see the Lord ever again in this lifetime?

Do you not want to return to the Wen mansion ever again?

I have decided long ago,

that me and him, we're done.

So,

for me to return to the Wen mansion,

is only possible if

my world (her son) safety returns.

Le Yan.

Child, you finally woke up.

Mom.

You don't know. You really scared me this time.

Slowly, slowly.

Slowly.

How is it? Do you feel better?
