I was born with a birthmark over 50% of my body.

It was definitely not easy when I was younger.

I got bullied a lot.

But in retrospect,

I can say that it made me the person who I am.

I try to be positive and confident,

but it does wear on you.

My husband Nelson and I have a vow renewal coming up.

We never really got a chance to have a real wedding

because I was four months pregnant.

We've been through a lot,

What was it like for you growing up with the birthmark?

It was definitely hard. People are very shallow.

I dealt with a lot of bullying. It covers over 50% of my body.

Like my whole leg is covered, my back, like my torso.

So it's not easy to hide.

It was so hard for me to, like, find just, like, comfort

in who I was, and comfort in my own skin.

My sisters and I, what we do is like,

we use this whole idea of what you tell me

that I am not, I'm going to show you that I am.

We are all beautiful, and we need to celebrate that

because that's what makes us very, very unique.

That's our identity.

And I will love for her to get to a place

where she can look at herself in the mirror

and say, yes, I am beautiful.

And yes, I am going to celebrate me.

So many people told me that

Just having the moment to feel beautiful

and to feel elegant is like really surreal.

I think every woman should have that chance.

I never thought in a million years

Just the thought of it is really exciting.

which is something I don't usually feel.

and soothe the skin before you apply products.

Honestly, I'm a bit surprised

that Sarah's contemplating covering her birthmark,

but because this is a wedding

and it's such a momentous occasion,

I think that some of that history

and that pain from her earlier life

is coming up,

and on the day, it's going to be up to her

whether she wants to cover it or not.

But honestly, it would be great

to see her wear that birthmark with pride.

There's a new level of confidence.

She feels fantastic in her skin,

and she's loving herself more than ever.

So, the other day, for the photo shoot, we got you ready,

we got you glammed, we got you glittered.

Oh, yeah.

And ultimately for the photo shoot,

we decided to cover your birthmark.

Yep.

And I know that you've been through a lot in your life,

and the birthmark has become a focal point for you.

It's been part of my journey my whole life.

Do I want to cover my birthmark

or do I want to just embrace and be who I am?

And I think a lot of people with port wine stains

go through that.

It can change how you think

and feel about yourself and make you question,

even if you are a confident person.

It's definitely a complicated issue.

There's a lot of feelings with it.

Sarah has gone through a lot of obstacles

throughout her life with this birthmark,

and yet she's so resilient and so strong.

I think the fact that she's questioning whether to cover it

or not has to do with what a momentous occasion this is.

It's not always easy, especially in these big life moments,

to be as confident as we present to the rest of the world.

If Sarah decides to show her birthmark today,

I'm going to give her a look that not only shows it,

but celebrates it.
