to install a lot of parts

on his jt.
Now, bruno's seen the jeep,

but he hasn't seen
all the parts that I ordered.

I can't wait to see his face
when he sees all this stuff.

hey welcome to "truck u."
today matt and I

are going to be taking a look
at this, a 2020 jeep gladiator.

The color, I love,
it's called stingray.

It is one of
the hottest vehicles

on the market right now,
and for good reasons, man.

It's combining, really, the best
of two very popular worlds --

trucks and jeeps.

Last year we showed you guys
a little glimpse of one,

one of my neighbors had it,

but honestly at that point,
they were so new.

They didn't have a whole lot in
the aftermarket to support it.

Well, things have changed
in a very short period of time.

Come over here, we'll show you.
Matt did a little shopping.

I said, "matt, pick a few things
up we can do to this jeep,"

and boom.
You got everything.

You gave me the credit card,
and no boundaries.

So this is what I got.
I wanted you to have options,

because I know you like
to accessorize,

I know you like
different things,

and I try to keep you happy.
Right?

So I want you to have options
as far as the wheels.

We got floor mats,
we got snorkels,

we got tonneau covers,
we got everything under the sun,

but we did it with our buddies
over at truck hero,

because you mentioned
the whole combination

of the trucks and the jeeps?

Well, they were
all over the truck world,

and they were all over
the jeep world.

So when the gladiator came
about, it was perfect for them,

and they just kind of melded
all the stuff together

and they're like, "hey.
We got stuff for that as well."

you know we don't have
all the time in the world

to put all this stuff on, right?

Because it'll take us a day
just to open the boxes.

Well, yeah, that's okay.

I mean it's a good problem
to have.

I'm not kidding.
But...

Yeah. That's first
world problems, b.

So you're thinking duallies
with the eight wheels?

I want the duallies
both front and back.

I like it.

Hopefully we ordered
the adapters, but --

we definitely got to get
this thing up in the air, right?

Yeah. We do need to do that
so we can start...

I'll start opening, you get
the truck up, let's do that.

Sounds good, buddy.

Matt: So the first thing
we wanted to do

was get the gladiator
up on the lift,

and we could start the work
on that four inch lift

that we got from superlift,

so that with everything
being new and clean,

this all comes out
nice and easy.

Bruno:
So while matt keeps working
on the front of that gladiator

to get all the factory
stuff out of the way,

because we've got
to make way for this.

This is the new lift kit
from superlift.

It's the biggest one
that they offer,

and it's going to give us
four inches of lift.

Now what's nice about this kit

is it gives you
everything you need,

including the fox shocks
for this thing.

As you can see,
we've got dual right springs,

coils for the back.

You've got --
everything's powder coated,

all the mounting hardware,
all the brackets,

we just need
a little space up front

to start putting this stuff on.
Can't wait to do it man,

this thing's going to look great
with a little lift to it.

All right, you ready?
It's ready to move.

Lot of hernias
between the two of us.

Pull it, baby. Pull it.

Oh, I thought you were
going to help.

There you go. You got that?

Next order of business for us
will be the lower control arms,

so we'll just do them
one at a time.

So we'll come over here,
get this one out,

get the new one in,

and then shoot over to the
other side and do the same.

♪

bruno:
So what we've done is kept
the lower control arms loose

and hanging out of the way
so we can get this front axle

down far enough
and rolled a little bit

to get these really tall
new springs into place.

Yup, and just to be
on the safe side,

we put another jack stand
underneath the pinion too,

just in case there's
any surprise roll...

Oop, little bit this way, bud.
There you go.

Good?
Yeah.

Am I in there?
It's right on that...

Yeah, now it's right
on that little piece.

That's how I like it,
perfection, bro.

That's the end.

I'll get the other side.

All right, now we have to start
running this back up

and put these arms in, right?
Can you just roll it some?

Roll it.
Bottom out towards you.

Nice job there, muscles.

All right, this is
where it gets good.

So we're going up in here.

so the next thing for us
is to get the new track bar in.

What's nice about this thing,
it's fully adjustable,

so what we're going to do
is we'll get the one bolt in,

and mount it up here in the top.

Then we're going to leave
the bottom loose,

and the idea is we want to get
this thing down on the ground.

Make sure the axle itself
is centered on the vehicle,

then we can make
the adjustments we want,

and go ahead
and tighten it down.

But for us, there's a bunch more
work we want to do once we get

the suspension wrapped up on
the whole front of this truck.

So while it's in the air,
we're going to keep

clicking away.
We got a lot of parts and pieces

we have to put on
thanks to matt.

All right, now it's time
to continue on

with the truck hero
gladiator build.

Now what we did is bring the
vehicle down to working height,

because we're going to change
some of the aesthetics on it,

give it a little bit
of a customization.

And the way we're going
to do that is by installing

these new flat style
fender flares from bushwacker.

Man, we've used these on a bunch
of different vehicles

over the years, and I think
this is going to give it

just enough of a look
to make it look custom,

and really dial it up
a little bit.

It's cool working
with bushwacker

for as long as we have,

because you've seen
how these things have evolved.

And right now, that flat
fender style's really popular.

It's aggressive looking,
it looks mean,

it looks great on these jeeps,

and with the bigger tire
that we're going to run

it's going to open up
that wheel well too.

So, the whole look's going to
change on the front of this,

and we've got these cowl
guards too, so, right?

Take a look at that. Boom.

So we're going to have
the flat style fender flare,

it's just going to
roll up into that --

yeah, those'll play off
and nicely kind of break up

the paint up a little bit,
you know what I mean?

The black with that cement gray,
as you like to call it.

Yeah. Yeah, that's the
t-undra.

But anyway, look, I even have
instructions over there, b,

because we have some
installation to get started.

How you like that, b?
Look at you, man, like a man,

you're just
handling your business.

There you go.

So matt's getting
that fender flare off,

and I've already got
this one done.

Now, the whole idea
is you've got to separate

the inner fender flare
from the outer,

because you're going to reuse
the inner

with the new style that one's
going to put into place.

What you've got to do
is modify it

for that flat style
bushwacker fender flare.

Really not that big a deal,
but you want to make sure

you take the time
to mark it correctly.

Obviously,
you're leaving it too heavy,

it's not going to fit
the fender flare.

If you make it too short, well,
it won't stay behind the flare.

So, I don't know about you guys,
but I always like to,

you know they say measure twice,
cut once?

Well, I'm about marking once,
or twice,

or three or four times.
I'd rather be safe than sorry.

So what you want to do
is trace out

with a grease pen over here,

the sheet metal line
of the body,

use that as your guide,

because that's where
you want this thing to sit.

Now, I'll trace it out,

and actually when I start
to cut this thing off,

I'll actually cut it
and leave it extra heavy.

I'll leave it another half inch
or inch, and then put it place,

and go back and forth
a bunch of times

to make sure
that I don't cut it too short,

because you can't glue it
back into place.

You'll have to start all
over again and get a new piece.

I'd rather take the time
a little bit here

and get it done right.

one of the great things
about working with the guys

at bushwacker
for their fender flares,

it's always a no drill
installation,

and that's huge, especially when
you're talking about a brand new

2020 vehicle like this.
The last thing you want to do

is start drilling holes
in the body.

First of all, it gives you
an opportunity to screw up.

Second of all, even if you
put them in the right place,

you're introducing places
where rust can form,

and once you get
the process going,

well, it can get out of hand.

So, rather than doing that,
they utilize the existing

mounting holes
for the other fender flare.

What they do, though, is
give you nutserts to attach to.

And if you eve used one before,

it's really nothing
to worry about.

If you've got the appropriate
tool like we do right here,

what it's like almost using
a pop rivet gun.

So you put the nutserts
in to place, no drilling,

and what'll happen then
is once you tighten them down

is you'll have an opportunity
to replace

the new fender flares too,
and it's just that easy.

Now don't worry, you don't
have to have your own gun.

They supply a tool
to put them in,

it's just as easy.

We're going to take a break.
When we come back,

we're going to finish up
these fender flares,

and then we'll
tackle that snorkel.

as you can see,

things are moving along nicely

on the truck hero gladiator,
but bruno,

we are at a point where we need
to stop everything.

Stop right now, because we have
to make a decision, right?

We had two sets of wheels,
two sets of jesse spade edition

rugged ridge wheels in here.
You got to make the decision

on which one
we're going to go with, dude.

Is it going to be the bronze,
or is it going to be the black?

I mean, both look good.

If this was a white truck
or a black, I'd go with these.

But the black
is a no brainer, man.

It goes with all the accents
we've got on this thing,

that nice, deep cement color
that you like.

But yeah, you're right,
the 37s with the black

is going to look awesome
on this thing.

Like it.

Cool.

So we're about ready to put
the fender on.

We've got the marker light on,

as well as our little rubber
stripping here

so it doesn't want to
scratch up the paint,

and now we've got to
slip it over here,

over this little
mounting bracket

we've got mounted in place.

♪

so that is what it's going
to look like.

Now we just need to secure it
with some screws.

So we'll take the fender flare
and mount it to that strip

that we've screwed
onto the body.

No drilling, no cutting, boom.
We're going to have ourselves

a nice look
to the front of this jeep.

The next order of business
for us is the amfib snorkel kit

that we got from rugged ridge.

Now, when you
start installing this

there's a couple things
you got to get out of the way,

namely the grille.
That takes a couple minutes.

Then we disconnected
the air inlet hose,

and now we can come over here
and get at this air box.

Let me get this out of the way
real quick.

That's overkill
but it works, right?

So, there we go.

And there we go.
All right, box is out.

Because pretty much everything
with this kit

is going to go on
right around this area, right?

All through here,
cowl covers coming off,

and then your snorkel's
going to be right here.

So, just got to get some things
out of the way.

We're looking pretty good.

A lot of times when you're doing
a snorkel kit you've got to

to do some cutting in the body,
and that's tough to do

sometimes on a brand new vehicle
like this.

But with this kit,
it's nice and easy.

It's less invasive.
It's like a small surgery.

There's no cutting in the body.
The only cut that we had to make

was on this
plastic piece right here,

it just came down at an angle.

So we just had to cut that down
and straight across

just to make room
for this piece to slide in.

So that was it.
I mean, that was nothing.

And I mean everything
should just click, boom.

Look at that.
Perfect.

And that's where
that's going to live.

At this point,
we have redirected our airflow.

Now obviously with the snorkel,

you're going to have the airflow
coming in from over here

that travels
around into the intake

as opposed to coming in
from up here.

Now for those of you
that are not aware of

why anybody would have that,

well what that allows you to do,
if you're so inclined,

is to drive
into deeper water conditions.

So, I don't know if this guy
will ever do that,

but if he wants to,
he certainly can.

All right,
we can tighten that up,

tighten these clamps down,
get this back in place,

and we're good.
Boom.

And just like that,
this job is done,

all except for
the final accessories.

Now if you know
bruno like I know bruno,

he likes to have
a choice in outfits,

so I'm going to let him know
that he's got this, right?

This is a little
more conservative.

All right?
Like you're going to the office,

you're not trying
to make any waves,

you just have this
and your air's coming in here.

But, you want to go out
for the weekend,

you want to have a little
bit of fun.

You never know what's going
to happen, right?

Especially with him.

You could get in
some deep water.

Now, you've got this piece

that's going to
mount to the side,

and that mounts right on top.
Now, look at that. Boom.

Now, you can go deep,
you can have fun. I like it.

They got all the seals
and gaskets and everything

to make sure that everything
is good and watertight,

and when you've got
a kit like this,

the options are all up to you.

So the last thing you want
across the hood

of your brand new jeep gladiator

is a bunch of chips
and scratches from road debris.

So what we're going to do
is protect this one

with the aeroskin light
shield hood protector

from auto ventshade.

Now, not only is it
going to protect it,

but it's also going to give
a little bit of flair,

because we've got
some marker lights

we're going to
put across the front.

It's really easy to install,
and you know what?

It's even a little bit of
a customization as well.

One of the nice things
about this

is the fact that no drilling,

no cutting, just like
we had with the fender flares.

It simply applies,

or fastens on with automotive
grade 3m adhesive.

Once we get it stuck on
and in place,

run the wires back
and it's just that simple.

So I got those marker lights
wired in

on the front of the jeep.

They look awesome,
but there is a bunch more stuff

we want to do to this truck.

so today the work

continues on our
truck hero gladiator.

Bruno, we've done so much
to this thing,

from the lift, to the tires,

to the snorkel kit,
to the flat fenders.

You really went above and beyond
and put that light up kind of

deflector thing on the front.
That looks awesome.

But now, it brings us
to the bed of the truck,

and here we are, just chilling
out back here. Nothing to see.

Nothing to see here.
Nah.

Just yet, because we're about
to pop

on the armis hard folding
tonneau cover

with line-x,
which is really cool.

I'm big, big, big, big on
having your bed protected.

I don't like prying eyes,
you know that.

I know that, yeah.

And you're given a little
security as well.

I mean, this tonneau cover
is really nice in the fact

that also it's lined
with line-x,

so it's going to be hard
protection against scratches

and all that kind of stuff
and keep it really secure.

It's a nice little finishing
touch on the back of this truck,

and quite honestly,
I think it needs it.

Cool. And this side rail is in,
all we have to do is this one,

and then we can
start the assembly.

Hey, you notice
a theme here today?

What?
No drilling, no cutting,

same thing goes
for the tonneau cover.

I like that.

Once you have the rails
in place,

it's as simple
as putting the top on

and just tightening it down.

So there's two clamps right up
there by the top of the bed,

takes about 30 seconds
and this baby's locked in.

B-man, let's undo this thing,
fold it back.

You ready?
Yep.

So our little prop rods,
get those out of the way.

Just like that.

...And put them home.
There you go. Now look.

Click, right?

It locks in at every stop.
I know you like that.

Whole security. Look at that.
Wow doesn't that look awesome.

And then there's a rod
on either side of it,

or the cable to unlatch it.

And the other thing too
that's nice about it too,

it's got a dual action seal

that allows you to close the
tailgate whether the top is down

or it's up
so you don't have to...

Some of them
you got to lift it up

to close the tailgate,
there's none of that stuff.

And once this thing is down
and you lock the tailgate,

nothing is going to get
inside of this.

Then you're fully secure,

and look at the line-x
coating on it as well.

So it's not going
to get scratched up

and you won't show badly.

It'll look this good
for a long period of time.

It does.

And it comes with a
five year limited warranty.

It looks great. Here,
open that back up again?

You touched on this dude,
but I love this.

So you can do this
from either side, right?

Right.
So it's just nice and easy.

You don't have to have
two people to do this

as I am proving right now,
as I just did that by myself.

And here you've got full access

Look at that.

time now for a little more
blasting with bruno fun

with the dustless blasting db500
mobile s.

As we look at our
comanche project,

you can see that we've got
a lot of work done,

but a lot of work left to do.

Our focus today
is now on the interior.

Now one of the things
we've never explained

to you guys about dustless
blasting is that dry blasting

is great when you're outside
and it's below freezing,

because you can't have water
running through the lines.

The dustless blasting trailer
has a built in air dryer

and moisture separator

that allows for dry blasting
and soda blasting.

Besides getting rid of the heat
shield on the floor,

we also knew some of the floor
panels needed to be replaced,

so we knocked off
all the seam sealer.

That way, we can see where
the spot welds are going to be

when we cut out the metal.

We're going to have to change
the psi a little

while we're blasting
inside the cab,

and the dustless blaster
allows you to adjust

psi from 30 to 150 pounds.

Now the entire cab
had a lot of glue down

from the old heat shield,

and that can be a headache
to remove by hand.

But the dustless blaster
has no issues cutting through

that padding and glue
and exposing a clean floor.

With the inside cab corners,
we use our slv nozzle

and we're able to adjust
our spray pattern

by standing closer in.

So it's safe to say that this
comanche has been fully blasted

from the cab, to the underside,
to the interior.

We have revealed all kinds
of wear and tear,

and a little extra work
for us to get to,

but better now than later
down the road.

This way it'll be done
and done right.

The focus now shifts
to sourcing a bed

for the back of this comanche.

bruno, this is going to complete
that aggressive look

up here in the front.
Now this is the new stubby

bumper that we got
from rampage products.

It's lightweight,
aircraft quality aluminum-

wow that is light.
Yeah, it is.

Nice and light, dude.
Mounts up nice and easy,

I can kind of do that by myself.
I like it though,

it really completes the look
of what we're doing with this.

Now, envision that with the big
front wheel tires on this thing,

the 37s, it's going to really
tie the whole thing together,

because you've got to have
a cool bumper

to go with the wheels.

It's got to complete
that aggressive look,

and the first thing you see
is this thing coming at you.

Yeah.
Talk about completing the look,

is that rugged ridge winch
right there.

Now you can put
a little one on it.

Sure you could.

But let's go with
the big mack daddy.

That's the 10,000 pound one,
man.

That'll pull this and a jeep
tied behind it with it.

[ chuckles ]
that's true.

Why not overkill it?

I love overkill.
And you know what, too?

Another nice bonus
about this bumper too?

The lights are cut out
right here,

so you can take the fog lights
out of the original bumper,

mount them up here, whew.
Winning.

Let's look at the steps next.

All right. You need steps
to climb into this thing.

You do. You know what it is?
You buy one,

I'm going to send you
the other one absolutely free.

There is a processing fee
though, right?

Absolutely.
Okay.

Bruno, I think one
of the last things

that we have time
to do this afternoon

is to install these step bars
that we got from n-fab.

Now these are going to
look good, but think about it.

When you're doing this
particular kind of product,

we've got a lot of
different options, right?

But with this vehicle,

I think it's very important
that we pick the right one.

What we saw today
with truck hero,

you've got options
for everything,

and step bars
are the same type of deal.

The thing is,
you got to go with a theme,

and you got to be continuous
from front to back.

We've got this angular,

really modern look going on
in the front bumper

and we're continuing that here
on these side steps, man,

so they look good.
They're going to match the front

and keep that theme
all the way through.

Functionality as well
as aesthetics play a big role.

You could put
a big tubular bar,

or you could have
the big step rail,

but it just wouldn't look right
for this jeep,

for what we've got
going right now.

So right now,
this is the perfect addition

to this whole look
we're going for.

No, I like it.
One big piece with the steps

cut out like that.

Take a look at this,
I know you have.

I've been sweating that,

looking over your shoulder
all of the day,

I think your ambition
got the best of you,

because there is so much stuff

we haven't
even got to look at yet.

We have been working
all day.

We've done a lot of stuff,
don't get me wrong,

but bruno, you,
much like myself,

you are a man of vision.

You are a man
who sees the future.

I want you to look
to the future,

when all this work is done

and perhaps describe this truck,
and everything you see

from the front to the back,
it's exciting.

It's all about the stance,
right?

It is.

You talk about
an offroad vehicle,

a jeep like this,
you want to see it up in the air

on those 37s
with that four-inch lift kit.

That really sets the tone
for what you're trying to do.

Aggressive bumper in the front
with a 10,000 pound winch,

and that thing you put across
the hood with the light,

I like that, that shield,
that looks good.

Now you've got
the fender flares,

and you've got the sidebars,

and you've got the tonneau cover
on the back,

really kind of wraps it
from front to back.

It's aggressive, it's modern,
it is what's happening today,

and that's what this thing
is all about, the gladiator.

Don't forget the doors.

The doors that you can
put on as well.

You can even take the top off
if you are so inclined.

Bruno, today it was all about me
giving you options,

and give you options I did.

I do like choices,
I do like options.

But you know what? The truck
hero gladiator looks awesome,
