A mask. A silicon mask.

Special effects makeup? He made the witnesses see him intentionally.

Wait.

Why was it Cho Sung Dong?

These scoops.

He wasn't alone.

The second man at the scene. The cameraman.

The villa he's staying in right now...

is a 20-minute walk away from Yeom Hwa Ran's villa.

What brought police officers here...

at a time like this?

"Police officers"?

How did you know...

we were from the police?

You're with Detective Superpower.

What brought a famous person like you here?

You don't seem surprised at all...

as if you knew this would happen.

Should I be surprised?

Petty offenders pee their pants the moment they see me.

But, some offenders can be bold.

It depends on how evil they are.

I knew you'd come.

How?

Freeze.

I'm working on the garden.

I had been away for a while.

How did you know we'd be here?

I dreamt...

of meeting you a long time ago.

I knew you were talented,

but precognitive dreams? Really?

You seem to know quite a lot about me.

I had a precognitive dream as well.

I dreamt of meeting a former photographer...

who kills while wearing a mask.

"Kills"?

Mr. Jin Jae Gyu.

There's the easy way and the hard way...

to solve this.

- What's the easy way? - Memory scan.

- Why? - Do you not know?

I thought you knew we'd be coming.

I'm not that talented just yet.

"Talented"?

We're investigating a serial killing.

And a lot of the evidence...

points toward you.

For example?

The serial killings from two decades ago are happening again.

And it so happened to start around the time you came back.

What a coincidence.

If you agree to be scanned, your name can be cleared.

No.

Right.

You must feel guilty.

No, it just doesn't feel right.

So you choose the hard way?

If I must.

(Search and Seizure Warrant)

We'll be carrying out a search and seizure...

of your residence right now.

Come.

According to the law,

you have the right to observe our actions.

- Go search. - Yes, sir.

(Episode 7: Memory Eraser)

Why is it so dark?

He's been away for 20 years.

Let me see.

- There's nothing. - I know.

There's no TV either.

Did you believe you were being righteous...

by committing murder?

Is this an official interrogation?

Let's say it's just a personal question.

"Personal"?

That's a surprise.

You seem to rely a lot on Det. Dong.

Aren't you the type that doesn't believe in superpowers?

The murderer seems to know me pretty well.

And so do you.

All that I did was to look into your soul.

- You looked into my soul? - I'm sorry.

I apologize if I offended you.

I wonder how long your lame explanations will last.

We searched every nook and cranny but couldn't find anything.

The murderer's not the type to throw away his murder weapon.

I'm sure he kept it like a trophy.

Let me.

Forget it. It's just a sewer.

Darn it.

Gosh, I couldn't even have a bowl of warm rice soup.

- But you had five sandwiches. - Those were merely snacks.

Do you think he got rid of evidence in advance?

- Are you saying she was wrong? - We couldn't find anything.

How could that intelligent woman make such a mistake?

Hello, ma'am. Thank you for your hard work.

Once it's sundown, the search and seizure will be over.

Even an old man like me couldn't have a proper meal.

And there he is, stuffing his face.

Let him be. I like that he's not causing any trouble.

He's just so inconsiderate.

Hey, hey. It seems like he's up to something.

The chimney is quite big when there isn't even a furnace.

That's for a fireplace.

Am I the only one who finds that strange?

He didn't even have a fireplace.

The second floor.

Fireplaces should be on the first floor...

since the heat rises.

He never used it.

The killings will continue.

What?

Three more will lose their lives.

One...

by one.

Gruesomely.

What is this place?

What is this?

Ma'am, they found a secret room.

What is this?

That jerk had been killing the victims...

as offerings.

And many, at that.

Arrest him.

Yes, ma'am.

You are under arrest for serial murder.

You have the right to remain silent and the chance to defend yourself.

Feel free to hire an attorney and put up a fight,

you crazy psycho. Get up.

(Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency)

I heard he's talking now.

- Yes. After a day. - What is he saying?

He wants to see Det. Dong.

Whose bones were those in front of the altar?

- Let me deal with him. - No.

He's willing to spill everything in front of me.

The forensic report will come out soon.

You should let him talk to him.

If you get all worked up and grab him by his collar,

you'll only cause a scene.

I won't get all worked up, sir!

You just did.

Then how about we make it impossible for him...

to grab him?

What's with the handcuffs?

I can't help but become physical whenever I see scumbags.

I'm glad you became a detective.

Otherwise, you would've gotten locked up.

You shouldn't be concerned about me.

But I can't help it.

Did you have that disgusting smile...

whenever you killed someone?

Don't get all worked up.

Did you kill those victims 20 years ago...

as offerings as well?

Are you talking about...

the Executioner?

Whom is he talking about?

Don't ask. You can't let him take control.

How did you know about the Executioner?

Don't you feel like...

the truth is out there, but no one can see it?

At times, you're proud of it. Other times, it makes you lonely.

It's a strange and lonely feeling.

Can you scan memories as well?

No, sir.

I don't have a superpower like you do.

Then are you a shaman?

I'm just someone who can see a bit of the truth.

I could hear the deity's voice through much prayer and penance.

Are you really a shaman?

Such labels aren't important.

Fortunetellers, prophets... They don't matter.

What's important is the deity's words.

What a bunch of garbage.

"Garbage"?

I thought at least you...

would understand me.

I thought you could hear revelations.

I guess your deity didn't tell you that you'd be looked down upon.

Aren't you just curious...

about the woman from 20 years ago who died by the claw hammer?

Weren't all the victims male?

Yes, sir. They were.

Aren't you curious...

about that beautiful woman...

who was dying?

She was your mom, wasn't she?

His mom?

It was you.

You killed her.

It's all your fault.

She died because of you.

Cut that nonsense.

You brought danger upon her.

Don't let him get to you.

- Why did you kill her? - The deity's fury...

You're the one who killed her.

- The killings will continue. - Bring him out of there.

Was that woman really my mom?

They'll die one by one.

Answer me, you scumbag!

Three more people will die before the dark moon rises!

Tell me right now!

You've cursed them, and they will die gruesome deaths!

Don't avoid the question! Let me go.

Answer me. Answer me, you scumbag!

Come on.

Here's the forensic report.

Those were animal bones.

They found no human DNA.

We'll imprison him first then interrogate him more.

That seems unlikely.

He was at the scene as a mere photographer.

We'll have to push forward with it.

It was him who spilled about a woman's death.

And what was that about your mom?

We need all the help we can get to get an arrest warrant.

Why don't you tell us about the memory you have?

What are you going to write?

That I could've seen a woman die 20 years ago...

and that lunatic, who claimed to be a shaman,

mentioned it?

We'll investigate keeping in mind he may not be detained.

All the men should keep an eye on him.

That's a given, but we need evidence first.

He's going to kill once again like he said.

- Do you believe him? - Yes, I do.

He's going to kill three more.

Do you expect us to watch him until he kills again?

He said...

that three more will die by the end of this month.

And we have 10 days left.

He will carry out his killings before then.

Seeing how confident he was,

I'm sure he's planning something.

He's not the only one who's confident.

I have no plans on letting him get his way either.

(Criminal Division)

Thank you for seeing me out.

I had to since something smells rotten.

We'll see you again soon.

By the way,

the reason for the rotten smell lies somewhere else.

What?

You two are being swarmed...

by vengeful spirits.

You won't stop talking nonsense, will you?

Two women...

had to kill each other.

If they didn't, they would be the ones to die...

in the hands of the murderer.

If you're so sure, show us the evidence.

The vengeful spirits are warning me...

that a murder will take place...

tonight.

Please stop it from happening...

if you can.

Because that death...

would be on you.

- What? - Sure.

Whichever jail you end up in will be thanks to me.

"Tonight"?

How entertaining. He's crazier than I thought.

He'll make a move tonight.

That's the game he wants to play.

He wants to prove...

he's above us.

(Green Movers)

Don't lose him even for a second.

We need to block him from contacting any accomplices.

Yes, ma'am.

I don't care. If we lose him, we lose him.

What? But he said he'll kill tonight.

Do you still not get it? We searched every nook and cranny.

He's the real Executioner.

Even if one more person dies tonight, it's not a big deal.

As long as we don't lose him, that's all that matters.

But...

What is he doing with the lights off?

- What about infrared imaging? - None. No thermal imagery either.

There are dozens surrounding him. How can he commit murder?

The sun is up.

Check for any cases.

Only a couple of accidental deaths have been reported.

Senior Superintendent Han.

There was a murder.

- A murder? - Who was killed?

The victim is someone you know very well too.

I came late at night to get my stuff...

because I didn't want to run into him.

But when I got here...

A murder will take place...

tonight.

Rape and blackmail.

A thug with a hammer tattoo.

You two had a bad relationship, right?

Sir, can you get someone to protect me?

I'm going to be next.

What's with him?

- He heard something. - He heard something?

Could Jin Jae Gyu really be a shaman?

It's impossible for him to do this. There are so many guarding him.

Watch your mouth.

Could it be a different person taking their revenge?

He has a lot of enemies.

It's the Executioner.

He's eliminating devils in a devilish way.

The Executioner used a camcorder just like the criminal.

I wonder what the ink was for.

How interesting.

The murderer was recording with the camcorder...

when they beat him to death.

You startled me.

What is this?

Who are you?

Stay still.

Wait. Wait.

What did I do wrong?

Let's fast forward to when they throw it.

It only caught their feet.

- Go to when he closed the window. - Yes, ma'am.

Play it slower.

Stop. Brighten it.

Brighten it as much as possible.

- His face is black. - What is that?

Is he a ghost?

A mask...

Did you say it's a mask?

We're done for.

The wolf has left his den.

It looks like he's going for a walk.

Field Team Seven. We'll follow him.

He stopped at the three-way street.

- Could it be a copycat crime? - How is that possible?

Only the investigation team knows about the Executioner.

Could it be an accomplice?

No, we ruled that out from the beginning.

He wasn't in contact with anyone.

- Did he make any calls? - He's clean.

He didn't write any emails or call anyone.

We checked every phone number using the neighborhood base station,

and nothing looked suspicious.

Where are you going?

Where are you going?

Gosh.

Okay, who wants to take pictures with Podori?

- Me! - Me!

- Who is it? - I don't know.

It was a boy, but they all look the same.

They all look different to me.

Hurry up and check. At this rate, I won't get any pension.

- Me! - Me!

All right, come in!

- What is it now? - It's too thick.

Come on.

A kid from the neighborhood?

His mom seemed suspicious.

They used the kid's phone every time.

Did you perform an illegal scan?

You're so stubborn. This is no time to think about that.

We cannot use evidence that's corrupt.

I'm not even a part of the investigation team.

Get a warrant to review the number since he contacted the kid's mother.

Go to Jin Jae Gyu's house in two hours.

If we don't catch them now, we'll have to wait for a week.

It takes at least half a day to process a warrant.

Get it in two hours even if it means you have to twist the judge's arm.

6414, 6414, pull over.

Pull over to the shoulder.

I think your tires are low on air.

I just refilled them yesterday.

It must be the engine oil.

I changed the engine oil yesterday too.

Good job. You changed your engine oil on time.

My wife only knows how to drive. She doesn't even get car washes.

(You have a text message.)

The warrant is out.

Get to work.

Yes, it's me.

The world's only man with superpowers.

Would you like to take a picture together?

Sure.

Hello. Do you want to take a picture together?

Thank you.

Gosh.

Hey, why don't you hold up the little boy?

- Should I? - Yes.

Okay. 1, 2, 3. Here we go.

Let's be more friendly.

I think it'd be better to get a close-up shot.

Or is it better to get a full shot?

(Okay)

Okay, it's ready. Here I go.

1, 2, 3.

Stay with him, okay?

Mr. Jin!

You're here.

Are you using your phone well?

Go and play.

It's a secured messenger from Russia.

It leaves no traces.

He's was an accomplice to the murders using that.

Once he puts in the password, we'll get to see...

who he was in contact with.

- Hey. - What?

What? No, no.

(Do you want to remove this app?)

He even removed the app.

Maybe he's onto us.

Darn it.

Is he a real shaman?

I got the list of call records.

The red ones are the numbers Jin Jae Gyu called in secret.

(Call Records)

They're the same number.

Whose number is it?

It's a corporate number. It's under a broadcasting company.

A broadcasting company?

A guest has entered the wolf's den.

It's not possible to check if it's a regular.

What are you doing here, Mr. Cho?

Would you like some tea?

Is there a problem?

Of course, there is. Murder accomplices are gathering.

"Accomplices"?

What are you conspiring?

You have no decency.

We received a report. What is it?

A report of a murder?

It's going to be shocking news.

The rude young girl who came to see me...

a long time ago was actually you.

He deserves to know.

He had to go through trouble too.

It's perfect for a documentary special.

The daughter of a murder victim...

joins the police to take her revenge.

It's so dramatic.

- It's my mission as the police. - I respect your tenacity.

Are you going to conspire with a murderer so frankly?

How can you claim a false fact in front of us?

Is this considered defamation or contempt?

Do you two know?

Jae Gyu... I mean Mr. Jin has a surprising talent.

He just mentioned the embarrassing secret I've kept to myself...

and surprised me.

I was begging him to work on a special project with me.

You seem to be having fun with a murderer.

I guess this could be considered contempt.

Are you really a murderer?

Personally, I think...

that Executioner or whoever is very bold.

The law is too soft and it couldn't get rid of those animals,

but he got rid of them for us.

Like an incinerator, you don't want near your house...

but desperately need one close by.

Right?

I'm sorry to say this,

but if Mr. Jin is the Executioner, it wouldn't be bad for me.

I can get his exclusive interview.

Is there anyone else who questioned the definition of justice...

in this country like the Executioner did?

Is your viewership more important than people's lives?

"Lives"?

Let me ask you this while we're on the topic.

I guess you still can't admit...

that your father deserved to die.

- Shut your mouth. - Blood is thicker than water,

but your father wasn't even worth taking revenge on.

- Jerk. - Are you going to take your chance?

She fulfilled her duty. Revenge is my expertise.

Got that?

How dare you touch someone from the press?

Go ahead and sue me.

I'll make sure to help you leave a lasting record in court.

I'll prove how the press used murder to become successful.

- You little... - Don't touch him.

Don't put your hands on someone so recklessly.

- Should I break your neck too? - Don't you get it?

The three people who will die have something in common.

They were all physically contacted...

by you.

What do you mean?

Three people are going to die?

They'll die...

horrible deaths.

Once the moon starts to get full,

those whose skin you've touched will die terrible deaths.

One already died.

The other two will die soon.

Will they really kill the people you've touched?

I think so.

- What if it's a trick? - Of course, it's a trick.

There's no way he knows who I touched.

Unless he's a real shaman.

Then will he kill someone randomly? No.

That's not something he would do.

Of course, he'll kill someone that I touched, in order to gain victory.

- Then... - Let's go check how right he is.

We'll return your phone after getting it restored.

Our phone was used for a crime?

What kind of crime is it?

We can't tell you since it's confidential information.

But we must know who it is.

It means it's someone near our child.

We're watching the suspect 24 hours...

I can't give you my phone if you don't tell me.

It's Jin Jae Gyu.

Mr. Jin?

What on earth...

Just don't go near him.

How did he manage the greenhouse?

Oh, about two months ago,

it wasn't long since he moved to the neighborhood when he came to me.

He said he wanted to buy a tool.

I run a small export business.

What type of tool?

He said he was repairing his home and asked for...

Right, a water pump.

A water pump?

He said his basement was flooded.

I told him that renting it would be cheaper,

but he kept insisting on buying it.

I usually don't sell to individuals,

but since he lived nearby and all, I gave him one.

And a few days later, he brought a phone.

He said someone gave it to him,

but he preferred to use his phone, so he gave it to our kid.

That day, he saw me run a flower shop...

and asked me to manage the greenhouse.

Why aren't you getting in?

That's everyone I touched.

Find out who he will target among them.

In case he turns out to be a real shaman.

Why isn't my name in here?

I'll stay here.

I have something left to do.

- Yes? - Ma'am, you need to see the news.

It's true.

(Police Interview)

Her father was killed due to a grudge.

She's been poking around that cold case for years.

He was a really dirty man, so I guess that's why he was killed.

This is a serious problem.

She's mixing personal emotions with her authority.

A victim isn't supposed to investigate his or her own case.

It's not just against the law, but it's common practice.

The daughter of a victim is trying to get revenge irrationality...

and this is a serious problem of abuse of governmental authority.

We will find out more about this issue tomorrow.

This is Park Se Myeong of TVC News.

The news was total rubbish, but this situation is frustrating.

The daughter of a victim killed by the Executioner...

seeks revenge after 20 years?

Goodness, and there's nothing we can do about it.

That mouth. That mouth of yours is the problem.

Goodness.

How's the phone restoration going?

Forensics said it can't be done within a day.

- Keep pressuring them. - We are, but...

This is the Field Team Nine. We have two chicks at the site.

Two chicks are wandering about the area.

Where will we find a water pump?

He didn't even explain. All he does is give out orders.

You really don't know?

Why Det. Dong does as he pleases around you?

I know it's because of my fine character.

You don't have to point it out.

No, it's because you are...

a pushover. That's why he's using you.

You're starting to sound like him.

You always complain, but do whatever he asks.

That's why he's looking down on you.

That's all because of my big picture.

What big picture? Working until you retire? Receiving a pension?

Deep inside the heart of this great man you see,

there's an important reason that's hard to explain.

- You are a pushover. - You little...

- Let's go and check. - Okay.

What shall we do?

Leave them be.

Field Team Nine. Don't chase the chicks and keep watching them.

(Personnel Announcement)

Senior Superintendent Han, there's been a personnel announcement.

(Personnel Announcement Senior Superintendent Han Sun Mi)

"Standby for appointment"?

This is Lee Seul Bi of the situation room.

Yes, I understand.

Ma'am,

the headquarters has summoned you.

Our first target is Han Sun Mi,

and our final target is Dong Baek.

Dispatch all our teams on this. Focus all our resources...

to bring them down.

Yes, sir. But what shall we write the story about?

- It doesn't matter. - I see.

Habitual violence won't cut it.

We need something stronger and dirtier.

Anything that will bring them down!

Shall we dig into Dong Baek's personal life?

Do you call that a question? Why you little...

Bring me every dirty little secret!

The local news team has a hidden card, right?

Hidden card?

Yes, I've managed to link a connection with them.

- How? - They really hate reporters,

but I've gone through hoops to build a connection with them.

A very sturdy connection.

Our rookie?

You better do a good job.

Whether you wiretap him or use a hidden camera,

bring me something dirty on Dong Baek by all means.

Your career depends on this.

Why did you do it?

Are you familiar with dogs?

The dog who barks first means it's scared...

to bite first.

The dog that's confident doesn't bark and just leaps forward.

I didn't know you were an expert on dogs.

The press is like dogs.

They can't even look at me straight in person...

but they bark in front of the camera...

and use their pens pretending to be brave.

Why? Because the more they bark,

they know the TV and newspapers...

will become shields to protect them.

So? Is that why you reacted immediately after they barked?

What do you have to do to quiet down dogs?

You have to their crush their muzzles.

That's why you're no naive.

If you step on one dog, all the dogs bark like crazy.

Why?

Because that's how those cowards survive.

The right thing is to disappear.

And they'll quiet down right away.

It feels like you're disguising the truth.

When you've actually been humiliated by losing.

Why have I been humiliated?

Isn't it humiliating to fire a commanding officer...

that's about to catch a serial murderer...

because of some rubbish news?

Who says I'll fire you?

You can keep investigating...

as the head of the Special Investigation Team.

- But... - Your standby for appointment...

will last a week at most.

If the culprit isn't caught within that time,

you'll be needed for the investigation and reinstated.

And if the culprit is caught, you'll be the one to announce it.

You can continue to become the icon of 120,000 officers...

without even getting a scratch on your career.

I don't need to be praised.

A few hours from now is critical.

So keep investigating in the dark.

I've already told Young Soo.

You'll have the authority as the head of RIU.

However, don't come to work for a week and head things remotely.

Is that a no?

Thank you.

You may go.

(President Cho Sung Dong)

By any chance, are you close with President Cho Sung Dong?

What?

I've met him once before at an event. Why?

I'm just wondering if you've known him long.

For about 20 years?

Never mind.

(President Cho Sung Dong)

(Missed calls, President Cho Sung Dong)

I found out...

Jin Jae Gyu's trick.

That place has been vacant for decades.

It used to be owned by a foreign corporation...

and two days ago, the owner changed.

To who?

It's a teenager, and our records show it's Cho Sung Dong's son.

He's living abroad with his mom,

so Mr. Cho probably registered for him instead.

Old Man, go meet Cho Sung Dong now.

- Why? - Ask why he received this building.

Receive it from who?

Jin Jae Gyu.

Jin Jae Gyu?

But pretend you don't know that. Just ask why he bought the building.

But still, he's the president of a press company.

Will he suddenly meet me?

He will if you tell him I sent you.

By the way, when will you let me in on your big picture?

That punk. He always says only what he wants to say.

Call Mr. Cho's secretary.

You've proven again that you're a pushover.

Shall I kick him out?

How did you find this place?

The water pump.

Right, a water pump.

There was no water pump anywhere in his house.

We should request for a warrant...

How did you find this place with just a water pump?

"Dawn of the Nine".

"Dawn of the Nine"?

A World War II movie where they assassinate a Nazi leader.

Although they succeed with the assassination,

the special forces are trapped inside the basement of a church.

But they still don't give up even when they're surrounded.

Why? Because they heard there was a secret passage...

that ran under the church.

A secret passage?

When they eventually failed to find the secret passage...

and their enemies started flooding the basement with water,

they hugged each other and committed suicide.

What does that movie have to do with anything?

That was the movie he had on his shelf.

But how could that...

The geology books were just a disguise.

That movie inspired him to make an escape route?

He needed a water pump because this place was flooded.

So I searched for entrances that had a hose connected to it.

His threats about killing were just a trick.

- He wanted to make an alibi... - Wait.

It's a greenhouse.

Let's set up a trap...

- and wait until... - It's too late.

A motorcycle?

Jin Jae Gyu escaped through the secret passageway.

Find out where that motorcycle is going now.

Tracking that in real-time is impossible.

The phone has been restored. Jin Jae Gyu has searched two names.

It's Choi Poong Won and Prosecutor Oh Seok Do.

Darn it.

They're both worth killing.

- Can you say something? - Please say something.

- How do you feel? - Make way.

- Please say something. - Move.

- Please share a word! - Make way!

Despite committing numerous misdeeds,

he used his illness as an excuse to live comfortably.

Now is not the time...

You punk.

After interfering with the investigation,

he made that innocent girl Ye Rim die and even got promoted.

He's at a golf club.

Nothing unusual here.

Although you touched both of them, it isn't Choi Poong Won.

Once the moon starts to get full...

Oh Seok Do.

What is it?

Something's bugging me.

He seems like obvious bait.

It's too obvious?

It feels like we've missed something.

It's this.

The murder patterns.

Jin Jae Gyu used paste bait to lure us in.

By leaving hints next to the bodies.

But we've already found out his identity...

No.

This is about his pride, which is more important than his life.

In order for a perfect victory, the game rules must be maintained.

The clothes on those plastered bodies.

Like this word, "hammer".
