[Tense Music]

MARCUS: Percy, where did you put the?

CARAVAGGIO: Do you require something, Marcus?

MARCUS: Yeah, Percy.

CARAVAGGIO: I apologize, but she asked

that I not divulge her whereabouts.

MARCUS: Has she been in contact with you since she left?

CARAVAGGIO: I am unable to answer that.

MARCUS: She's not in any trouble is she?

CARAVAGGIO: Suffice it to say that if there were a problem,

I would be aware.

MARCUS: Yeah, but would you tell me?

CARAVAGGIO: I know that you are missing her, Marcus,

but Percy programed me to respect her wishes for privacy.

MARCUS: Yeah, well, I could always reprogram you.

CARAVAGGIO: You would need months to rewrite my algorithms.

MARCUS: Yeah, okay, Car.

I get the picture.

Just keep me posted, yeah?

[Whooshing]

RUDOLPHO: Shuttle's nearly docked.

TRAVIS: Fine.

RUDOLPHO: You're not happy about this one, are you?

TRAVIS: Well, seems a bit odd, doesn't it?

Mars Fed asking a bounty ship

to transport their trade minister.

Not as if they haven't got their own ships.

RUDOLPHO: Now, there's a point to ponder.

Done.

All right, 300,000 credits.

That's what we're getting for this?

Eh, biggest payday ever?

TRAVIS: Which, I seem to recall, is why I got outvoted.

RUDOLPHO: Yeah, well, we've done plenty of missions

I didn't agree with.

TRAVIS: I haven't said a word about this one.

RUDOLPHO: Until now.

TRAVIS: Well, you did ask.

[Whooshing]

CALLISTA: This is Mars minister of trade, Andreas Kolsig.

Travis Montana.

TRAVIS: Welcome aboard the Trans-Utopian, Minister.

ANDREAS: Thank you, Captain.

TRAVIS: You know Callie, this is Marcus Fagen.

ANDREAS: Mr. Fagen.

TRAVIS: And Rudolpho DeLuna.

ANDREAS: So, this is Jophie Henrig, my personal assistant.

And my security team, Hagan Dircott and Gayna Shern.

CALLISTA: Well, you'll want to inspect the minister's quarters.

Follow me.

[Subdued Music]

TRAVIS: Well, Mr. Kolsig.

We were told you would provide coordinates once we'd arrived.

So, where exactly are we headed?

ANDREAS: The Mannheim Asteroid Belt.

TRAVIS: Bit of a trek.

What's out there?

ANDREAS: Our mission.

HAGAN: It's all clear, sir.

ANDREAS: So, I do hope I'm not getting an inside cabin.

[Travis Chuckles]

CALLISTA: Well, I guess we'll leave you to it, then.

GAYNA: Computer?

CARAVAGGIO: My name is Caravaggio, Ms. Shern.

How may I help you?

GAYNA: I'd like to send the information on this disc

to my office before we leave orbit.

CARAVAGGIO: Certainly.

There is a disc scanner on the cabinet.

Place the disc in the scanner

and the information will be sent automatically.

[Machine Whirring]

GAYNA: Good.

That disc has updated your central matrix

and your voice and facial recognition programs.

CARAVAGGIO: It has?

GAYNA: Let's run a simple test.

Who am I?

CARAVAGGIO: What an odd question.

You're Percy Montana.

GAYNA: You'll follow your new directives

as programmed on the disc.

Is that clear?

CARAVAGGIO: Of course, Percy.

GAYNA: Excellent.

A cup of tea, then.

[Opening Theme Music]

[Spaceship Humming]

MARCUS: Hey, Jophie, isn't it?

JOPHIE: Yeah.

MARCUS: I'm Marcus.

JOPHIE: I remember.

MARCUS: Ah, would you like a guided tour of the Tulip?

JOPHIE: Sure, that'd be great.

MARCUS: Come this way.

TRAVIS: The Mannheim Belt.

Any hits and it's coming out of your cut.

RUDOLPHO: My cut?

What about Marcus' cut and Callie's cut?

They voted for this as well.

CALLISTA: Hey, we're operating in the red.

300,000 gives us some breathing room.

TRAVIS: Well, still feels a little off to me.

CALLISTA: Well, if it makes you feel any better,

the assignment came directly from President Morland.

On Mars, that's a big deal.

RUDOLPHO: A feather in our cap.

Good for the reputation, so to say.

TRAVIS: Yeah, good point.

Except for the fact we're not allowed

to tell anyone about it.

JOPHIE: Neat.

Subsonic probe.

[Laughs] MARCUS: You know what that is?

JOPHIE: My dad was a ship's engineer.

MARCUS: You're kidding?

So, this is where it all happens.

JOPHIE: You work in here alone?

MARCUS: Usually Travis' cousin would work with me.

She's away on leave.

JOPHIE: That would be Percy Montana.

MARCUS: How did you know that?

JOPHIE: We ran a full security check on all

the Trans-Utopian crew, naturally.

MARCUS: Naturally. [Laughs]

MARCUS: Hold on a second.

Hey, that's weird.

JOPHIE: What is?

MARCUS: I thought I'd finished that schematic.

Car, should've run his check and saved it by now.

MARCUS: Car?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes, Marcus?

MARCUS: Are we maybe having a little system crash?

CARAVAGGIO: No, Marcus.

MARCUS: Oh.

Anyway, I have to show you

the antimatter module control room.

It'll blow you away.

RUDOLPHO: Why don't you tell me who you are?

[Spaceship Humming]

TRAVIS: So, what can you tell us about your mission, Minister?

ANDREAS: Not a great deal, I'm afraid.

TRAVIS: We're better able to protect you

if we know what we're up against.

ANDREAS: Let's just say it's a very sensitive trade mission.

The secrecy is merely a safeguard against

possible industrial espionage.

CALLISTA: So, why hire us?

ANDREAS: Perhaps you should better ask Ms. Shern.

It's her position.

GAYNA: Official departures are closely monitored.

No one will suspect a minister

traveling with bounty hunters.

[Scoffs]

TRAVIS: I can hardly believe our luck.

ANDREAS: I can assure you that neither your crew,

nor your ship, are in any danger.

So, if you'll excuse me, I've got some work to do.

TRAVIS: So, now what do you think?

CALLISTA: I think we keep our eyes open.

[Spaceship Humming]

RUDOLPHO: Part the cheek bones.

CARAVAGGIO: Very well.

RUDOLPHO: Now, mustache.

Black, slightly droopy.

Ah, good.

Hazel eyes.

CARAVAGGIO: Very well.

RUDOLPHO: I said, hazel eyes.

CARAVAGGIO: Very well.

[Electronic Beeping]

RUDOLPHO: Car?

CARAVAGGIO: I apologize.

There was a minor software conflict

in the system's interface.

RUDOLPHO: Where's Kolsig?

CARAVAGGIO: I have lost that data.

RUDOLPHO: You gumless belly dancer.

CARAVAGGIO: I'm sorry?

RUDOLPHO: Nothing, just sort yourself out

and we'll get back to it later.

[Spaceship Humming]

CALLISTA: It's coming through now.

TRAVIS: We have you Mr. President.

PRESIDENT: Hello, Trans-Utopian.

Hello, Andreas.

You're being well treated?

ANDREAS: Very.

PRESIDENT: Captain Montana, I'd like to apologize

for the strict security surrounding our mission.

TRAVIS: We understand, Mr. President.

PRESIDENT: Our trade partners in this negotiation

are somewhat skittish.

We appreciate your discretion in this matter.

My aides tell me I have to say goodbye.

Thank you all again.

ANDREAS: Well, I trust everything's in order.

I'll be in my cabin.

TRAVIS: You know Mars politics better than I do.

What sort of reputation does Morland have?

CALLISTA: He's actually considered a bit of a softy.

TRAVIS: What about Kolsig?

CALLISTA: I don't really know much about him

except that he keeps a low profile.

TRAVIS: Anything I should know about Dircott and Shern?

CALLISTA: No, just your typical Mars security types.

TRAVIS: So, I shouldn't mess with them then?

CALLISTA: Well, you have learned something from me.

TRAVIS: The hard way.

[Spaceship Humming]

MARCUS: So, this is the longest I've ever been at a job.

JOPHIE: You get bored easily?

MARCUS: As a rule, yeah.

But, not here.

JOPHIE: You must like it.

MARCUS: I like the people I work with.

JOPHIE: You're lucky to find that.

Politics attracts the strangest people.

You never know what you're getting most of the time.

MARCUS: To why?

Why did you get into politics?

JOPHIE: Maybe I'm one of those strange people.

MARCUS: No, I don't think so.

I know strange.

JOPHIE: You mean, Percy?

MARCUS: How do you know so much about her anyway?

JOPHIE: Our briefings are pretty thorough.

You have a thing for her.

MARCUS: No.

No, we're just friends.

Whatever your briefings may say.

CARAVAGGIO: Would you like me to deal with it?

GAYNA: Oh, hello.

TRAVIS: Speaking to Caravaggio.

Is there anything I can help you with?

GAYNA: No, I got lost.

TRAVIS: Well, she's a big ship.

GAYNA: Mm.

TRAVIS: And you probably know more about it than I do.

I presume you did check us out.

GAYNA: We know your ship and crew quite well, yes.

TRAVIS: And you chose us for the job anyway?

I see.

Not in a laughing mood are we?

GAYNA: To be quite honest, Travis.

I chose your ship because of you.

We have a high level of confidence in your abilities.

TRAVIS: Oh, really?

GAYNA: Mm-hmm.

I know that you have doubts about this mission

and I'd be worried if you didn't,

but I can assure you that Minister Kolsig

is here to close a trade deal, nothing more.

TRAVIS: Well, that's that, then.

GAYNA: I can find my way back from here.

[Tense Music]

[Electronic Beeping]

CARAVAGGIO: May I help you?

HAGAN: What the hell are you doing in here?

CARAVAGGIO: I'm terribly sorry.

HAGAN: What?

[Gasping]

[Spaceship Humming]

CALLISTA: Car, are you sure Dircott

asked for privacy mode?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes.

CALLISTA: Then, I don't get it.

I mean, aren't you two supposed to be reachable

by the minister at all times?

That's correct.

CARAVAGGIO: It appears that Mr. Dircott

suffered a heart attack.

TRAVIS: Any sign of heart disease, Car?

CARAVAGGIO: None apparent.

ANDREAS: Prag.

He was too young for this.

TRAVIS: That's what I'm a little confused about, sir.

I'd like to get the body back to the infirmary

so Car can do a more thorough examination.

ANDREAS: Let me know.

TRAVIS: Right.

MARCUS: I don't understand.

JOPHIE: Don't understand what?

MARCUS: The fire and bulkhead door systems.

JOPHIE: These?

MARCUS: Yeah.

I programmed in a manual link,

routed it to the bridge, and left Car to implement.

It took me ages.

Now, the date and time are logged on my stations,

but not on his.

Car, what happened to the system updates

that I finalized yesterday?

CARAVAGGIO: I have no logged updates.

MARCUS: Well, then your system must have crashed.

CARAVAGGIO: I have no record of a reboot.

And Travis wants to see you in the galley.

JOPHIE: At least they keep you busy.

[Laughs] MARCUS: Yeah.

[Tense Music]

[Electronic Ringing]

ANDREAS: Come in.

Ah, Gayna.

Don't worry, I'm still breathing.

[Chuckles] GAYNA: How are you, Minister?

ANDREAS: A little shaken.

I didn't know Dircott as well as I know you,

but I liked him.

GAYNA: He was a good man.

Loyal.

ANDREAS: So, to what do I owe the pleasure?

GAYNA: I want you to know that your security

will not be compromised because of Dircott's death.

ANDREAS: Thank you, Gayna.

I think you realize how important these negotiations are

to President Morland's five-year plan.

GAYNA: Oh, I do, sir.

ANDREAS: So, in spite of what happened to Dircott,

I will not be distracted.

The president will have the deal he needs.

GAYNA: Of course, sir.

[Spaceship Humming]

[Mysterious Music]

[Electronic Beeping]

[Sighs]

RUDOLPHO: Car?

Why the delayed transmission?

CARAVAGGIO: Our proximity to the Mannheim Asteroid Belt

is interfering with signals.

I will log your request and send the transmission

when conditions improve.

May I be of any other assistance?

RUDOLPHO: Just make sure the Mars transmission gets priority.

CARAVAGGIO: Understood.

RUDOLPHO: Okay, minister.

MARCUS: You know, I've got to admit, Jophie.

I'm enjoying working with you.

JOPHIE: What?

Oh, me too.

MARCUS: Yeah.

It's nice to have someone around.

Well, to be honest, I kind of feel like

I'm cheating on Percy.

JOPHIE: That's strange.

MARCUS: Well, it's not that strange.

You know, we've been working on the Tulip together

for so long now, refitting and rejigging.

Feels like she's ours.

You know, like she's a little bit of both of us.

We gave her life.

JOPHIE: Caravaggio's general diagnostics check out.

MARCUS: Wha?

Sorry, I'm babbling.

What?

JOPHIE: These diagnostics are clear.

MARCUS: You can't tell me that Car's fine because he's not.

JOPHIE: Then, why are we getting the all clear

on every diagnostic we're running?

MARCUS: Caravaggio?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes?

MARCUS: Are you reading any bugs in your diagnostics?

CARAVAGGIO: You'd like me to run a diagnostic on my diagnostics?

MARCUS: Yeah, basically.

CARAVAGGIO: There are no errors.

MARCUS: How are you feeling?

CARAVAGGIO: I'm afraid I can't answer that question.

MARCUS: No, it's all right, nevermind, Car.

That'll be all.

TRAVIS: Natural causes.

CARAVAGGIO: The post mortem located

in asymptomatic congenital defect

in Mr. Dircott's left ventricle.

TRAVIS: You're sure, Car?

CARAVAGGIO: Positive.

TRAVIS: Well, there it is, then.

CALLISTA: Is it?

I don't feel so reassured.

Hey, how's Jophie?

MARCUS: Car, privacy mode, please.

CARAVAGGIO: Certainly.

MARCUS: You know those new manual control systems

I was installing?

It took me a week to reroute them.

Car has no record of them in his files.

TRAVIS: Have you run a diagnostic?

MARCUS: I've run diagnostics on the diagnostics.

I couldn't find anything, but something feels wrong.

TRAVIS: I thought you said it was nothing major.

MARCUS: Yeah, well.

I'm not saying that anymore.

TRAVIS: Got it.

Listen, we're running close to that asteroid belt.

You find anything wrong with Car that might compromise us.

MARCUS: You'll be the first to know.

TRAVIS: Well, fancy doing a visual inspection

of Dircott's quarters?

CALLISTA: You read my mind.

[Dramatic Music] [Spaceship Humming]

MARCUS: Car's inner sanctum.

JOPHIE: It's beautiful.

MARCUS: Careful.

He has a big enough head already.

JOPHIE: What are you looking for?

MARCUS: An anomaly in his operating matrix

that indicates a nano system crash.

JOPHIE: And then?

MARCUS: And then we trace this synaptic link

and check if it was an internal glitch, or something else.

Now, we wait.

So, have you ever thought of getting out of politics?

I mean, I bet you could teach me a thing or two.

[Electronic Beeping]

JOPHIE: You better.

[Electronic Beeping]

MARCUS: Yeah, yeah, right.

Well, that's it.

It looks like Car's command program's being overridden.

It's some sort of wave code overlaying the original

voice and facial recognition program.

[Tense Music]

CALLISTA: Have you ever read any Sherlock Holmes?

TRAVIS: I must have missed that class.

CALLISTA: That's right, I forgot.

TRAVIS: He's a writer?

CALLISTA: No, he's a fictional character.

A detective from centuries ago.

Before they used computers to solve crimes.

TRAVIS: Well, there's nothing like getting down and dirty.

CALLISTA: I'm all for the hands-on approach.

TRAVIS: Okay, Sherlock.

What do you make of this?

CALLISTA: Looks like a scuff mark.

TRAVIS: Yeah, but it's a little too long for a scuff mark,

don't you think?

CALLISTA: Yeah.

Dircott was dragged in.

Which means however he got here,

it looks like he was murdered to me.

TRAVIS: Pretty good, Detective.

CALLISTA: It was elementary, my dear Watson.

MARCUS: Why isn't this working, Car?

CARAVAGGIO: I have no idea, Marcus.

MARCUS: Okay, I just want to take a little look

at your command system.

This won't hurt a bit.

CARAVAGGIO: Self-diagnostic finds nothing wrong

with my command system.

MARCUS: Yeah, well, you're just gonna have

to trust me on this one, Car.

There's a faint smell of corruption about.

Okay, can you shut down your energy field

if I give you my code?

CARAVAGGIO: Certainly.

O-9-2-5-6-8-Marcus-3.

CARAVAGGIO: Accepted.

Field shutting down.

[Electricity Zapping]

[Tense Music]

[Spaceship Humming] [Atmospheric Sounds]

RUDOLPHO: Car?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes, Rudolpho?

RUDOLPHO: Do we pay you to lurk around?

CARAVAGGIO: I have no need of financial compensation.

RUDOLPHO: You can be an idiot.

CARAVAGGIO: I'm sorry if I startled you,

but I thought you'd like to know

that I have not been able to send

your transmission to Mars Federation.

The interference has not subsided.

RUDOLPHO: Mars Fed needs to see it.

I don't think Kolsig is who he claims to be.

CARAVAGGIO: And do you know who he really is?

RUDOLPHO: I'm working on it.

I know him from somewhere.

GAYNA: Caravaggio?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes, Percy?

GAYNA: Tell me when he remembers.

CARAVAGGIO: Understood.

[Atmospheric Music] [Spaceship Humming]

CALLISTA: So, you got a plan?

TRAVIS: Just our clients.

I think we need a little more to go on

than a scuff mark, don't you?

CALLISTA: Yeah.

TRAVIS: Has Marcus come up with anything on Car yet?

CALLISTA: Last I knew he was with Jophie

in Car's matrix room.

Working on it, I guess.

There's a tight-beam communication coming in.

TRAVIS: From whom?

CALLISTA: Uh, what is more like it.

Car, am I imagining things

or is that an asteroid headed towards us?

CARAVAGGIO: The transmission is originating from the asteroid.

It would appear to be under intelligent control.

TRAVIS: Cut engines, bring us about.

Car, who's hailing us?

CARAVAGGIO: No identity is encoded in the transmission.

We are being asked, or rather told,

to tell Minister Kolsig that quote,

"His friends are here."

TRAVIS: Minister Kolsig?

[Over Speaker] ANDREAS: Yes?

TRAVIS: Your friends are here.

Car, send a com to that, uh, ship.

Tell them we'll not respond to their transmission

unless they identify themselves.

CARAVAGGIO: Acknowledged.

REASONER: I want to talk to Andreas Kolsig.

TRAVIS: He's on his way.

I'm Travis Montana.

Can I help you?

REASONER: We know who you are, Montana.

TRAVIS: Then you have me at a disadvantage.

REASONER: That's good.

TRAVIS: Online?

CALLISTA: Way ahead of you.

[Door Opens]

ANDREAS: As, Mr. Reasoner, good to see you.

REASONER: Send a shuttle over and we'll talk

onboard the Trans-Utopian, Minister Kolsig.

TRAVIS: That's some spaceship.

ANDREAS: Hardly a spaceship.

Just enough power to stay out of trouble and the belt.

TRAVIS: Oh?

To what end?

ANDREAS: A profitable one, no doubt.

That's a mining asteroid.

So, do we proceed, or not?

CALLISTA: I'll shuttle him over.

[Over Speaker] MARCUS: Someone help.

TRAVIS: Marcus?

CALLISTA: Car, where is he?

CARAVAGGIO: In my matrix chamber.

[Over Speaker] MARCUS: Help.

[Spaceship Humming]

CALLISTA: Take it easy.

Hey, let's make sure you're all right first.

How's Jophie?

CALLISTA: I'm sorry.

ANDREAS: Oh, no.

GAYNA: What happened?

TRAVIS: Seems something went wrong

with Car's self-defense system.

ANDREAS: First Dircott and now Jophie.

What is happening here?

RUDOLPHO: I'll get Marcus to the infirmary.

TRAVIS: Perhaps we should be asking

you two the same question.

ANDREAS: I beg your pardon?

GAYNA: I'd be careful of throwing accusations

around, Mr. Montana.

CALLISTA: Hey, it's our ship.

We get to ask the questions.

ANDREAS: For goodness sake.

Why should we harm Jophie?

And the fact is, we weren't anywhere

near this room when it happened.

TRAVIS: How convenient.

Car?

CALLISTA: Why did your defense system malfunction?

CARAVAGGIO: I do not know.

I have shut the program down.

GAYNA: Seems to me your computer has turned into a killer.

TRAVIS: Don't be ridiculous.

ANDREAS: Mr. Montana, I'm deeply offended by your insinuations.

May I remind you that computers do malfunction.

Continue along this line and you jeopardize your future.

GAYNA: Not to mention the 300,000 credits

we're paying you.

TRAVIS: Two people have died on my ship.

I don't particularly care about the money,

or who I offend at the moment.

ANDREAS: My meeting with Mr. Reasoner

will go ahead as planned, I insist.

TRAVIS: Until I know what's going on,

no one leaves this ship.

TRAVIS: Understood?

We'll send the shuttle on auto.

ANDREAS: That is acceptable.

TRAVIS: It wasn't an option,

sir.

[Tense Music]

[Spaceship Engine]

[Whooshing]

ANDREAS: Mr. Reasoner, we'll conclude our business

in my quarters and then get you back.

REASONER: Uh, just you and me, Minister.

That's what we agreed.

ANDREAS: Of course.

GAYNA: That wasn't what we agreed, sir.

REASONER: Anybody else and I walk.

ANDREAS: I'm sorry, Gayna, I'll be fine.

CALLISTA: Might be useful to find out

what they mine on that rock.

TRAVIS: I think we might have a problem getting

Reasoner to tell us that.

CALLISTA: Not if you give me two minutes alone with him.

ANDREAS: Computer, privacy mode.

CARAVAGGIO: Certainly, Minister.

REASONER: You sure?

ANDREAS: Computer, we need help in here.

I am sure.

So, as we agreed.

20 million directly to your account.

Hold the durenium shipments until I send for them.

REASONER: It's a good deal.

I wonder what President Morland's

military planners will do

when the durenium he promised them

fails to materialize.

ANDREAS: That's if we ever can deliver.

REASONER: Morland doesn't suspect.

ANDREAS: He trusts me like a brother because I made him.

The perfect win-win scenario.

REASONER: I look forward to hearing from you, Kolsig.

But, by then I'll be calling you Mr. President, I suppose.

[Reasoner Laughs]

ANDREAS: All in good time.

[Atmospheric Ambience]

[Subdued Music]

ANDREAS: Marcus, my good boy.

How are you feeling?

MARCUS: How do you think?

ANDREAS: I know.

I miss Jophie, too.

She liked you.

So, Mr. Reasoner would like to leave us now

as we have concluded our discussions.

TRAVIS: To your satisfaction, I hope.

ANDREAS: Unfortunately, no.

Negotiations don't always work out.

Perhaps at some future date.

TRAVIS: So, Mr. Reasoner.

What do you mine?

REASONER: Precious metals.

That's why we have to be so careful

when it comes to security.

We've got a lot to lose.

Now, if you'll excuse me.

I must return to Hellstone.

ANDREAS: What a pity.

All this way for nothing.

TRAVIS: Oh, I don't know.

Two people died getting us here.

RUDOLPHO: Carter Bergan.

How could I forget you?

MARCUS: Hellstones are rare asteroids that supposedly

passed into our universe through a black hole.

Now, the journey produces nuggets

of almost pure durenium 237.

That's the base metal used to create negative energy.

TRAVIS: Which, correct me if I'm wrong,

you think is the key to lightspeed.

MARCUS: Yeah.

So, if Reasoner's rock is a Hellstone,

that might have something to do with

Jophie and Dircott's deaths.

TRAVIS: Yeah, but we're missing something.

If this was a simple business negotiation,

why did they have to die at all?

CALLISTA: And why would Kolsig go through all this trouble

just to let the deal go?

MARCUS: Yeah, well.

Maybe that's what he wants us to believe.

PRESIDENT: So, you were right.

GAYNA: You've seen the computer's log

from Kolsig's quarters.

It confirms what you've suspected all along,

Mr. President.

Andreas Kolsig is a traitor.

But, there's a bigger problem we have to deal with.

Kolsig has another secret that could

hurt you very badly, sir.

PRESIDENT: What is it?

GAYNA: I can't risk telling you in case

the channel isn't totally secure.

If it gets out, sir, you'd be ruined by association.

PRESIDENT: Does Reasoner know as well?

GAYNA: We can't take that chance.

PRESIDENT: Do whatever it takes.

GAYNA: I will.

RUDOLPHO: I know who he is.

CALLISTA: Who?

RUDOLPHO: Kolsig.

TRAVIS: Kolsig's not Kolsig?

RUDOLPHO: Get your guns.

He won't come quietly.

[Tense Music]

[Explosion Rumbling] RUDOLPHO: Whoa!

What the hell just happened?

CALLISTA: It looks like we just fired the particle beam

and blew that asteroid to smithereens.

RUDOLPHO: Carter Bergan.

It is you, isn't it?

ANDREAS: An interesting name.

Should I recognize it?

RUDOLPHO: You and your men killed 57

innocent people at Mon Sentiment.

I had family there.

You're still a wanted man.

TRAVIS: So, would you like to tell us

how you got control of our particle beam?

ANDREAS: I have no idea what you're talking about.

CALLISTA: Oh, Hellstone was destroyed,

but you don't know anything about it?

ANDREAS: Hellstone was destroyed?

Well, that can't be true.

GAYNA: Car, send out a mayday beam to Mars Fed.

Total system failure.

CARAVAGGIO: Confirmed.

Mayday sent.

ANDREAS: Reasoner and I had a deal for the durenium.

TRAVIS: That's not what you told us.

RUDOLPHO: Give me five minutes with him.

I'll get the truth for you.

CARAVAGGIO: Pardon the interruption.

Percy wishes to speak with you.

TRAVIS: No time for jokes, Car.

GAYNA: It's no joke, Travis.

Car and I are good friends.

Aren't we, Car?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes, Percy.

CALLISTA: She made Car fire the particle beam.

RUDOLPHO: Car thinks Gayna's Percy.

TRAVIS: So it would seem.

MARCUS: Damn it.

It's a wave code program.

I found it in Caravaggio's matrix.

I thought it was just another malfunction

and then Jophie died.

I didn't have time to.

It was written on his voice and facial recognition program.

TRAVIS: Marcus. MARCUS: I'm okay.

ANDREAS: Gayna, what the hell have you been doing?

GAYNA: Listen.

REASONER: I wonder what President Morland's

military planners will do when the durenium

he promised them fails to materialize.

ANDREAS: That's if we ever can deliver.

[Over Speaker] REZNAR: Morland doesn't suspect.

[Over Speaker] GAYNA: He does now.

TRAVIS: So, that's what this is about.

Control of negative energy.

GAYNA: The president trusted him, but I didn't.

So, I persuaded him to let me put that trust to the test.

And now I know who you really are.

You tell me, Carter Bergan, what are my options?

I can't take you back to stand trial.

The scandal will ruin the president.

I'm putting the ship on auto-destruct

and taking the shuttle.

MARCUS: No, she can't initiate auto-destruct

without Percy's code.

Only Percy knows that code.

RUDOLPHO: I wouldn't put anything past her.

TRAVIS: I don't think we should take any chances.

Let's get to the bridge.

GAYNA: Activate auto-destruct sequence code

9-19-19-2-Alpha-Percy.

CARAVAGGIO: Auto-destruct activated.

GAYNA: Disable all other codes.

CARAVAGGIO: Code access disabled.

GAYNA: Three minutes countdown on my mark.

CARAVAGGIO: Are you sure you want to do this, Percy?

GAYNA: They're trying to kill me, Car.

I have to get away.

Power up the shuttle.

CARAVAGGIO: Shuttle powering up.

[Alarm Blaring]

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes, 50 seconds to auto-destruct.

CALLISTA: Car, disable auto-destruct.

3-B-6-B-Callie.

CARAVAGGIO: Access denied.

TRAVIS: She must have locked us out.

We need to hack into Car's probe

and get the cancellation codes.

MARCUS: Yeah, I'm trying.

RUDOLPHO: Right, I should have done this when I first saw you.

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes, 40 seconds to auto-destruct.

RUDOLPHO: If he comes round, hit him again.

I'm gonna get that code out of Ms. Shern.

Doors, Car!

Car!

[Gun Firing]

CALLISTA: They're all sealed.

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes, 30 seconds.

CALLISTA: Travis, over here.

TRAVIS: What's the plan?

CALLISTA: The tech conduit.

I'm gonna stop that ship.

Just break the codes.

[Dramatic Music]

[Alarms Beeping]

MARCUS: Come on!

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes, 20 seconds.

MARCUS: We're not gonna make it.

Every subroute has a block on it.

TRAVIS: Keep trying.

CALLISTA: Travis, how are you doing?

TRAVIS: Not so good.

You okay?

CALLISTA: I'll let you know.

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes, 10 seconds.

[Tense Music]

CARAVAGGIO: Two minutes.

[Electronic Beeping]

CALLISTA: Come on.

CARAVAGGIO: One minute, 50 seconds.

CALLISTA: Please.

Send.

Oh, it's about time.

CARAVAGGIO: One minute, 40 seconds.

CALLISTA: Gotcha.

GAYNA [O.C]: What's wrong with the shuttle?

Power up.

CARAVAGGIO: I'm sorry, Percy, I cannot.

There appears to be a malfunction in the code.

GAYNA: Well, fix it.

CALLISTA: Can't, Gayna.

So, give up the cancellation code, or die with us.

[Over Speaker] GAYNA: What cancellation code?

I didn't run a program to look for that.

There's no time now.

CARAVAGGIO: One minute, 30 seconds.

CALLISTA: Sorry.

Travis, Gayna doesn't have the cancellation code.

TRAVIS: Fantastic.

We're not having much luck either.

MARCUS: Percy's got the access codes.

Our Percy, I mean.

CARAVAGGIO: One minute, 20 seconds.

RUDOLPHO: I want you guys to know something.

I've never said this before.

MARCUS AND TRAVIS: Shut up.

RUDOLPHO: What a huge punch in the ass.

[Laughs]

[Tense Music]

CARAVAGGIO: One minute, 10 seconds.

[Punch Thuds]

GAYNA: Open the door.

CALLISTA: You shouldn't have-- GAYNA: Open the damn door.

CALLISTA: Open it yourself.

GAYNA: I can't unlock the sequence.

[Punches Thudding]

CALLISTA: I told you you shouldn't have done that.

[Over Speaker] TRAVIS: Callie?

Get out if you can.

CARAVAGGIO: 50 seconds.

TRAVIS: Callie?

MARCUS: Come on, there's got to be a way in.

You're right.

There is no way in.

[Alarm Blaring]

RUDOLPHO: So, that's that, then.

CARAVAGGIO: 40 seconds.

TRAVIS: Car, we don't have the cancellation codes

and we can't access the destruct sequence.

What do you think is gonna happen to us?

CARAVAGGIO: You will be dead in 30 seconds.

TRAVIS: Because Percy wants us to die?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes.

TRAVIS: Oh, so she wants to kill her crewmates and her cousin.

Is that it?

CARAVAGGIO: Yes.

TRAVIS: Car, Percy isn't even on the ship.

Your recognition programs have been overwritten.

I can assure you, she wouldn't want to do this to us.

So, search your memory.

CARAVAGGIO: 20 seconds. TRAVIS: There's gotta be a part

of it that Gayna hasn't infected.

You have the proof, find it.

CARAVAGGIO: Fifteen,

Fourteen,

Thirteen,

Twelve,

Eleven.

PERCY [O.C]: My ship.

This is my ship.

Don't you think that we should concentrate

on the fact that we're dying?

Sorry.

CARAVAGGIO: Five, four.

PERCY: I do care about you guys for some reason.

CARAVAGGIO: Two, one.

Auto-destruct

canceled.

TRAVIS: I was beginning to think you wouldn't find anything.

Hey, I thought you might have taken the shuttle.

CALLISTA: You don't get off that easy.

CARAVAGGIO: Oh, dear.

I'm detecting a wave code program across my entire matrix.

I have been horribly deceived.

MARCUS: Don't worry about it, Car.

Now, you've detected the wave, we'll be able to clean it up.

CARAVAGGIO: I do hope I wasn't too much trouble.

[Subdued Music]

RUDOLPHO: We could've made a fortune out of that durenium.

MARCUS: A converted spoonful of that stuff would have been

enough to power up the antimatter drive.

CALLISTA: Well, no use crying over spilled durenium.

CARAVAGGIO: Ganamead orbit in two standard days.

TRAVIS: Thanks, Car.

Car?

Report on the last 24 hours, please.

CARAVAGGIO: Uneventful.

On route to Mars.

All systems nominal.

MARCUS: Car, could we have privacy mode, please?

CARAVAGGIO: Certainly, Marcus.

MARCUS: What?

You think I'm gonna leave him with the memories

of what Gayna made him do?

Even if he is just a computer, wouldn't be fair.

So, what are we gonna tell President Morland?

CALLISTA: You mean, how are we gonna get our money?

RUDOLPHO: How about 300,000 for our silence?

TRAVIS: Interesting.

He was willing to have us killed to save his reputation.

CALLISTA: And we have the bodies to prove it.

RUDOLPHO: Bring him down.

TRAVIS: I don't know about us, but if certain media outlets

were to receive certain anonymous transmissions.

MARCUS: Ah, [sniffs] blackmail.

CALLISTA: It's just politics.

[Spaceship Humming]

KARINA: It's papa bear.

ANNOUNCER: On the next Starhunter.

RUDOLPHO: Karina, we gotta talk.

KARINA: You know the rules.

First, we drink.

TIBBIT: I'm always amazed by how many people

take their life in their hands.

TRAVIS: It is shocking.

TIBBIT: Another idiot gone.

[Thuds]

RUDOLPHO: Marcus?

[Electricity Zaps]

TIBBIT: Take them away.

This is Tibbit, send in the backup.

[Lasers Blasting]

[Closing Theme Music]
