during a demoralizing defeat
for coach, Jessie Hester.

first year coach, DJ Boldin,

suffered their second
embarrassing loss
in as many weeks.

- [Narrator] Questions
about the team's leadership

spread across the Muck.

- When you got social media,

you got fans, you got community.

It's like everywhere you go.

- [Narrator] And fuses burned
short on the practice field.

- You wanna be a
individual, go play tennis.

gion in Muck City.

The stadiums at rival schools

Pahokee and Glade Central
High are the temples.

And the head coaches
are supported

by a staff of assistant coaches

who must act as loyal disciples.

- I'm currently in the
process of coaching coaches.

I definitely think
they feel the pressure.

Hear the voices in the
streets and the communities.

They're probably waivers,

how they feel about
what's going on.

( dramatic music)

- [Narrator] The Pahokee
Blue Devils are coming off

back to back blow out defeats.

So, the pressure is on
the entire coaching staff

to get a win.

But that's not first year
coach DJ Boldin's only problem.

It appears that there
could be dissension

in his ranks of loyal
assistant coaches.

Someone is sharing inside
information about the program.

(crowd cheers)

And creating a backlash
from disgruntled fans.

- I ha big family
here in Pahokee.

And my family tells
me everything.

When it was told to me verbatim

some of the private
conversations that
we have as coaches

to people in the community,

that's never a good sign.

It's a concern that
needs to be addressed.

(dramatic music)

(fast drum music)

- [Narrator] Muck City locals
talk football year round.

In the barber shops,

out in the cane fields,

even on nearby Lake Okeechobee.

- Football in the south
is a lot more important

than it is all over
the rest of the country

and South Florida
is no different.

It's a big part
of the community.

obsession with football

creates opportunities for
fans like Lester Finney.

Lester played at Glade
Central High School

and in College.

- Football has been good to me.

It sent me to college
on a scholarship

and I cam home
to Belle Glade,

'cause I love Belle Glade.

- [Narrator] Now Lester
teaches art at his alma mater.

And doubles as the city's
most sought after muralist.

- It's wonderful to be able to
do something in the community

to make people smile

and that's the
mission that I am on.

And it makes a difference.

- [Narrator] Lester's talents

and his love of Raider football

have led him to a
lucrative side gig

creating an entire universe

of Glade Central paraphernalia.

- This is my man cave.

The name my wife gave it.

It's just my workshop
but it's home.

Where I come up with
good ideas, bad ideas.

Every time people come to town

anything about the
Glade Central Raiders,

they want it.

My favorite table

what made money to pay bills,

help people in the communities,

it's a wonderful thing.

And you put the paint down.

I smear it.

And the Collard Greens
Wild Rabbits Fried Gators,

that's what it takes to be
a Raider? Okay that's us.

Yeah, that's us.

one of a kind shirts

are emblematic of just
how Central Football

is to Muck City's identity.

But the area's
fixation on the sport

can cut both ways.

(crowd cheers)

For Lester Finney it
drives T-shirt Sales.

For coaches it creates
non-stop pressure to win.

- Fans really, they like
the microwave thing.

Like, it's,
everything is instant.

- [Narrator] And this year

almost half way through
the regular season,

Glade Central and its
rival Pahokee High

have disappointing records,

negative gossip about
coaching decisions

and player performance

is spreading among Raider

and Blue Devil faithful alike.

- Fans become down,

but the fans got to understand
that we gotta stay in it.

Your emotions is
getting in the way

'cause you gotta
keep a level head.

You gotta stay focused,

you gotta stay in it.

(dramatic music)

- [Narrator] Pahokee's first
year head coach, DJ Boldin

must fix a situation
that's affecting morale

around his program.

- All right, coaches, I'm gonna
cut straight to the chase.

I got a Judas in my camp.

And I ain't feelin' it.

I don't know who it is

but I'm gonna find out.

And when I do

(grunts)

I'm gonna get on it
like a dog on sin.

Can no longer be
part of this program.

within our circle

out to the people
in the community.

in Belle Glade,

Glade central's team is
coming off a difficult loss

to rival Cocoa.

Local fans are uneasy
about the team's prospects

against their upcoming
opponent, Dwyer.

But not senior Jermaine Mays.

He feels like he's back at 100%

following a knee injury.

- Ball, ball, ball, Hands up.

- Man, I feel good, man.

I feel good to be
on the field, man.

This is what I wanted.

So, I'm happy.
(upbeat music)

- Run, run.

We practiced everyday this week.

Going to make a
statement to the coaches

that I deserve to
be on the field,

you know what I'm
saying, like that.

- Straight up, we call him.

- He's very
competitive, you know,

I mean on and off the field.

You know, in the
classroom as well.

- Hey, is they going now or
are they keeping contained?

- He's the life, he's the
dog barker of the team.

You know, he's the
kid that learn.

His heartbeat,

but he's a kid you have
to really coach and train.

( team yelling to each other)

- He's a fire stick.

He wears his emotions
on his sleeve, you know,

he's gotta make sure
he just tones that down

a little bit in games.

- Even against Pahokee, guys,

no personal fouls guys.

No grabbing the face mask.

No cussing at the guys.

If you do that

they gonna call that
immediately on us.

- [Narrator] While Jermaine
stays laser focused

on making a comeback
this Friday versus Dwyer,

some of Jermaine's teammates

appear to check out
during practice.

- I don't even know
what I heard, Coach.

Well, how you gonna line up

and know what the play is?

needs to improve on its

if it hopes to live up
to the fans expectations

of a playoff run every y

- Right now the kids are having
a little bit too much fun

in a bad way.

And you want 'em to have fun

but not to the point

where they're not paying
attention to detail.

Each game is very important
for us down the stretch,

and especially for our
seating in the playoff.

Excuses are the tools
of the incompetent.

Those who use 'em seldom
does ever achieve anything.

You gotta be in
playoff mode right now,

not play mode.

Not playful mode.

coach DJ Boldin uncertain

about who to trust
on his coaching staff

it's a relief for him
to get away from it all

by spending time
with his son, Dallas.

- Or the monster will catch us.

- No!

- When I had Dallas
it grew me up.

It definitely grew me up.

And I had the opportunity

to be a stay at
home dad for a year.

- [Narrator] Which
meant pushing pause

on his budding
career as a coach.

- I had the Minority Internship

in the NFL with the
San Francisco 49ers,

with Jim Harbaugh at the time.

Internship was supposed
to be for a month.

Harbaugh extended it to a year

and that turned into a job.

Then I was coaching
49ers for 3 seasons.

Then after that I,
my son was born.

I chose family,

and as I moved back
down here for my family

the job opening came open for
Pahokee's head coaching job.

And the only
rightfully so to apply.

Show 'em that speed Dallas.

Show 'em the speed.

When I see Dallas,

it sort of puts everything
into perspective.

Whatever feelings
I had prior to that

it's out of the
window immediately.

Go!

- No, dad, I need help.

- You gotta get out
of first gear, huh?

- With this job,

just being a leader,

being a significant other and

you know, a coach and teacher,

with all of those things
on a day to day basis,

can be overwhelming at times,

especially when you are
the leader of many people.

Pahokee High School,

the football coach is not only

the leader of the
beloved Blue Devil Team,

he's also an ambassador
to the community

and surrogate parent
to his players.

- Let's go.

It's very important for them
to see a strong father figure,

each and every day.

Some kids don't have
that opportunity at home.

Some kids are from broken homes

and single parent households.

So for me to give
a piece of myself

to those kids is everything.

- [Narrator] Like parenting,

film sessions
after tough losses,

sometimes call for
doses of tough love.

Especially following Pahokee's
back to back blowout defeats

to Palm beach Lakes
and Trinity Christian.

- Gonna address the team.

I'm gonna be brutally honest.

I wanna highlight
the good and the bad

so that we can learn
from those mistakes.

'Bout to watch this film.

Y'all already know what it is.

All right, y'all talk
constructive criticism.

Ain't getting on nobody to
make fun of anybody, all right?

We wanna become a
better football team.

I really want guys to
keep their eyes on me

so that I can teach them
through this process

on how to handle it.

How can we move forward?

How can we refocus, you know?

Help them see light at
the end of the tunnel

so they can stay motivated

and play the game of football.

Boldin first singles out

Senior Defensive
linemen, Jaylon Williams,

whose job it is to stop the
opposing team's running attack.

Not only to win games,

but to secure Jaylon's future.

- If you have any aspirations

of playing Division
One Football,

you have to make this play.

- Jay, you so close

- I'm not a d-line coach,

but what did they talk about

playing at the heals
of the line, right?

So when you made your move

and you're at the heals,

if you would have strafed flat

you would have hit 'em

effective leader fellas.

the Glade central staff,

Pahokee's coaches are frustrated

by what seems to
be a lack of focus.

- Ah, he still, he can't run

- It's not funny fellas.

We just got blowed out again.

Start taking them scholarships,

that's what ya'll play for.

the film session

Coach Boldin tries
to refocus his team.

And get them to take their
losing record more seriously

by holing a meeting
with just him.

- Hey, coaches, coaches step

Step out a minute.

All right fellas.

Let's have a real
conversation, like men.

Don't wait 'til you
leave outta hear

you got something to
say to other people.

This is the time
amongst your brothers,

amongst your head coach,

to voice your opinion.

- I feel like you need to
be more aggressive almost

about the little things

and you gotta be more hard and

(murmurs)
you gotta demand it coach.

- Is like they
listening to you coach,

but they not listening to you.

- I'm not gonna cuss out a kid.

I'm not going to berate a kid

or belittle a kid.

That's not my style.

That ain't how I get down.

Now, can I try another
effective way to teach

to try to get through your head?

You gotta stop
blaming it on you.

don't really be on ya'll.

- If something go wrong,

because I'm a professionalist

because I'm the leader,

I always gotta take the blame.

When we win, guess
who they gonna praise?

And I want cha'll
to understand that

'cause I believe all
ya'll are leaders.

And I believe if everybody
shoulder the blame

when you on that pedestal

then you become a
better football player.

- Yeah, but ya'll are not
out there playin' though,

we out there playin'.

Like we gotta take the
blame for all that stuff.

- I'm with you

What I can do is lead better.

'Cause y'all have
issues with coaches

leave that to me.

(thumps his chest)

- I felt like we
never had a session

to where we could talk to
coach Boldin personally.

Like, that was different.

That shocked me too.

I was like that's
the first time but,

I loved that session though

'cause I felt like coach Boldin

got somewhere he
never got before

and I felt that we came
together more as a team.

- Ya'll good?

- Yes, sir.

- All right fellas.

l go to the locker
room, we got conditioning.

- [Narrator] It's a
bye week for Pahokee,

so Coach Boldin
has time to zero in

on his team's short comings
and fix what isn't working.

to make everything work

as cohesive units you know.

We actually trying to get
back to the real old Pahokee

where we just
blowin' people out.

blew out opponents behind

the play of outstanding
quarterbacks

like Anquan Boldin.

Boldin was a standout
wide receiver in the NFL,

but he got his start playing QB

with the Blue Devils.

- Coming from the Glades area

I think that it
equips you for life.

We always say if you
can make it on Muck City

you can make it anywhere,

that has absolutely
been true in my life.

There's a lot of
things that, you know,

you encounter in College,

even in the professional ranks.

Some things that people
may falter under,

we strive in

because we've been prepared

for that moment.

- [Narrator] Mack
Williams began the season

as the starting QB

but has since been benched.

It's up to the coaches
and Mack as well

to build up the confidence
of the potential new starter,

KJ Bouie, the youngest
QB on the team,

who also happens to be
Mack's younger cousin.

- I taught KJ
everything he knows.

Ever since the spring
when he first started.

Like everything I do
he asked me how I do it

and I show him.

Like he copy everything I do.

Now, we help him, like if
he in the game I help him,

I tell him what to do if he
don't know what's going on.

SO it's like, KJ my cousin but,

me and him like
brothers together,

is what I call him.

- Let's go, now.

- KJ, he's good.

If you have two good
quarterbacks that are,
He's a sophomore kid

you know, both
leaning on the edge

of having a breakout season

and then at the end of the
day still trying to learn

through the adversities.

- Green, and set go

(claps)

- Perfect.

- Coach called me
before practice,

told me I'm the starter
and I gotta man up

and take control of my offense.

- Catch the damn ball.

- Look how he catch.

- If ya'll play
how ya'll practice,

I promise ya'll we gonna win.

session earlier in the week

help improve play
during practice.

But coach Boldin
must still confront

his biggest challenge
off the field,

dealing with the leak

that seems to be
coming from his staff.

- I can't turn a
blind eye to it.

It can't be water
off a ducks back.

And we're at a turning
point in our season

We can't afford to have
someone like that a part of us.

(dramatic music)

- [Narrator] This week
the Glades Central Raiders

travel across Palm Beach County

to face a tough team with
it's own winning tradition.

- Dwyer High School is
one of the best teams

in Palm Beach County.

The expectations at Dwyer

are usually very high.

- [Narrator] With no
game of their own,

Mack Wiliams and some
of his Pahokee teammates

travel to Dwyer to
take in the game

and scout their
number one rival.

- We here to watch Glades
Central Dwyer play.

Glade Central's our rival.

Lookin' out before
we play Glade Central

in like four more weeks.

(upbeat music)

(commentator speaking)

- [Narrator] Against Dwyer

the Raiders will depend
on a few key players,

including its fleet
of speedy receivers,

like number nine,
Desmond Washington.

And Number one, Jim Davis,
who also plays defense.

Then, there's number
two, Jacob Camacho,

whose family travels as
a pack to every game.

cob is pretty much sent to

a lot of positions.

He'll be able to
handle any position

they put him at.

- [Narrator] Defensive
end, number 20,

Jermaine Maye is
itching to get out there

and mix it up

now that his knee
is fully healed.

(upbeat music)

- [Narrator] Dwyer
gets the ball first

and Davis goes to work
on the Panther receivers.

- Hit him in the Line Jim.

- [Narrator]
Together with Camacho

they shut down Dwyer's drive.

- Raider tackled by
number two Jacob Camacho.

- Let's go offense.

- [Narrator] When the
Raiders take possession

they look for Desmond Washington

who makes a catch in the flat.

And then another in the corner
of the end zone for six.

(crowd cheering)

Now back on defense,

(whistle screeching)
the Raider coaching staff

sends in thepark plug,

number 20, Jermaine Mays.

But it's Jacob
Camacho who delivers,

stripping the ball
and returning it deep

into Dwyer territory.

(crowd cheering)

- Yeah, I was surprised
when I had the ball.

I was going for the
tackle and it happened,

pop right here then I just
tried to put the offense

in the best position

or try to score if I can.

- [Narrator] Camacho's
aggressive play

shifts the momentum in
Glade Central's direction.

But the offense
doesn't capitalize,

despite multiple open
shots at the end zone.

This gives Dwyer a
chance to even the score

before half-time.

- That's who got all the
hard hits on the team so far

only been two.

Everybody else out there
look like theyred to hit.

- Glades defense all go out,

check 'em out, check
'em out, check 'em out.

(crowd cheering)
Check 'em out, touchdown.

Dwyer just scored, you feel me?

(whistle screeching)
Touch down by Dwyer.

- No, I think they got a flag,

I think they took it back.

They takin' it back.

- Illegal procedure.

(crowd murmurs)

Flag (mumbles) the
ball to the 20.

- Well, its going
to be seven zero,

5:39 left def in
the second quarter.

- [Narrator] This trio
of Pahokee players,

Mack Williams, Scuba
Kabir and Trey Reeves

all transferred from
Glade Central this year.

But they barely recognize
the Raider team on the field.

- Dwyer, they had their
touch down taken back,

but Glade Central do not look
like the same Glade Central

that I left a year ago.

- Glade Central looks mediocre.

(crowd cheers)

- [Narrator] Dwyer can't
get in the end zone

but they do narrow
Glade Central's lead

with a field goal.

(crowd mumbling)

- Raiders seven, Panthers three.

- Seven three,
that's a dang shame.

Game's supposed to
be 28-zip right now.

You run the ball.

- Defense, defense, defense!

- [Narrator] In the closing
minutes of the first half,

Jermaine Mays
returns to the field.

- Get 'em Raiders!

(crowd cheers)

- [Narrator] And
immediately lowers the

boom on a Dwyer receiver.

(whistle screeching)

But the Glade Central senior

doesn't keep his
emotions in check.

(whistle blows)

(crowd roars)

- There we go.

They got flag.

Some people be missing
they calling man. (laughs)

- Every time they do something
good, they do something bad.

They did that.

- He's always doin' that, dawg.

He's always doin' that, dawg.

- Straight up, straight up.

C'mon, c'mon.

(team yelling)

- It was a good play, but
you talked. You can't cuss.

when you make a good play

You can celebrate that

but he stood over the
kid and turn at the kid.

And I knew he was emotional
coming of an injury

and he just want people
to know that he was back.

But there's better
way to display that.

All that extra
stuff wasn't needed.

And he understands that.

unsportsmanlike penalty

against Jermaine puts
Dwyer in field goal range.

And at the end of the first half

they make it a one point game.

Dwyer High School Panthers six.

for the big half-time show.

we struggling right now.

Too many penalties going on.
- I was finna come out here

and get it right though.

We ain't leavin' no more
points on the field.

We left like 21 points
in the first half.

That score board's too
close for me though.

It finna to get ugly
though, for real though.

(commentator announces)

- [Narrator] Unfortunately,
in the opening minutes

of the second half

it's more of the
same, as Jacob Camacho

and Jim Davis get burned deep

by a speedy Dwyer receiver.

(crowd cheers)

But when Dwyer tries to pass

into the back corner
of the end zone

Camacho flexes his
defensive muscles.

(dramatic music)

Minutes later on 4th down,

Glade Central blocks
Dwyer's field goal attempt.

But it comes at a cost

as Camacho heads to the sideline

with what appears
to be a knee injury.

(crowd screams)

Back on offense,

the Raiders again
look to go long.

- Y'all might want
to watch this.

This gonna be a 1st
down, touch down.

I'm calling this one.

I'm calling it.

(crowd cheers)

- All right, touch
down, all right (claps)

- That was on the money, boy.

Good Job.
(crowd celebrates)

That was, bro.

Jesus Christ.

- [Narrator] The long touch
down enables Glade Central

to hold on for a 16 six victory.

And despite his unsportsmanlike
conduct penalty,

Jermaine Mays is thrilled
to be back on the field.

- It feel good to
come out with a win.

This my whole plan when I
came out here, redemption.

- [Narrator] Jacob Camacho's
knee is a little sore,

but it looks like he'll
be good to go next week,

with his family there for him

every step of the way.

- It's a great support
system behind me, you know.

The greatest, seeing
them cheering for me.

- [Narrator] The players
are happy with the W,

but the fans and coaches
still see the Raiders

as a work in progress.

Especially if the
goal, like always,

is a State Championship.

- They had a lot of
missed opportunities,

and the defense keptthem i.

- You guys have to start
taking this game seriously.

But what I'd be tell
you all the time,

right now, we not smart.

We're not smart,

'cause we make a too
minute dumb mistakes.

we need that for the
next couple of weeks

and then when we do that,

we need it for the playoffs

the players listen as
Coach Hester motivates them

with tales of his career
as an Elite NFL receiver.

my first practice,

being drafted by the LA Raiders.

Uniform, all of that stuff
sitting in the locker.

Going out on the
field, Mr. Davis,

You know, he stops me before
I run out on the filed.

He kinda go, "You're
here amongst excellence.

Yeah, you are committed
to excellence, okay?"

And you guys are
in that same boat.

All the past guys
that come through here

has sat the mark high.

Tell it while you
guys have to tell it

then do what's necessary to
get us where we need to go.

But you're commitment
to it is nowhere near

the level that it going to take.

has identified the
person on his staff

who was leaking inside
information to the public.

For now, coach Boldin will keep

the assistant's
identity a secret

instead of potentially causing
even more unwanted drama

for his team and his staff.

can't judge or lead

off of emotions and heart.

I have to be headstrong.

I know who the Judas is

and Jesus knew who Judas

You know, from the
first moment he knew
