my uniqueness and my glue gun.

- And next up, he's a wizard

of all things clay, Zion.

- I'm pretty good at clay,

if I do say so myself.

- And last but not least,

future designer

and cat lover, Monroe!

- Well, there's LaurDIY,

but then there's me, MoDIY.

is ready to craft today?

I'm, like, freaking out.

- Welcome to my house. - I wish this were my house.

- All right, guys,

one of the most popular

crafting trends today

are animal heads,

and, my mini Michelangelos,

- that's exactly what - you're going to be doing

In today's quick craft.

Create a bust of any beast

you want,

and we're only giving you

one hour to craft.

And while you're shopping,

I'm going to make a lion.

First of all, I'm going

to take aluminum foil,

and I'm gonna make the snout.

Then I'm going

to papier-mâché it.

I'm making an elephant.

The reason why I'm using clay

is 'cause if it dries,

it dries the correct color,

- 'cause elephants - are, like, gray.

- So this is where you get - to see the magic

Of what happens when you

unleash kids

- into your world - that you've created.

- They're tearing it - all apart!

It looked so pretty!

- This is amazing!

And it's rubber!

I'm a unique person,

and I'm very, like,

fashionable.

It's like pop-up artistic-y.

I like to stand out.

- I need this stuff, - all of it.

I'm gonna make a squid.

The materials are foam balls

and different

illuminescent fabrics,

yarn for tentacles.

- I'm gonna have to, - like, hot-glue it.

Hot glue fixes everything.

- This is a giant paint bucket,

and, yes, the hoses

actually dispense paint.

Here we go.

Red paint, white paint,

yellow paint, blue paint.

- Functional and pretty...

- Right? - I love it.

- Glitter salad bar. - I love this.

- And a big thread spool.

Wow!

- There's endless Styrofoam.

My God!

- I'm making a squid, and this

is gonna be the over part.

And I'll do a few layers

so it's not fully showing.

- The iridescent material

is really awesome.

- I kind of see myself

like a squid,

- 'cause they're kind of just - different animals.

- I think that - they're really cool

Because they can change colors

depending on their mood.

- I'm making the lion.

So I used to live

in South Africa,

and there are lions

that live there,

and they're brave and loyal

and stuff like that.

And I think that's pretty much

my characteristics.

I just love lions so much

and...

Burning.

Ouch!

I had a craft accident

with the glue gun.

Don't burn me.

- There we go. - Ooh, that's hot.

Meanie.

- You know, my trick

is to use masking tape.

- It adheres really good - to aluminum,

And you don't get burned.

- It's forgiving. - You can move it around.

- I know. Heat transfers - through the metal pretty...

- It does. - Yeah.

- The next set I do is gonna be - made out of tinfoil, though.

- I'm gonna try that. - I'm making an elephant.

- Ooh! - My gosh!

- What are you gonna make - the trunk out of?

Tinfoil and...

- No, I have this tubing. - You're right.

- Ooh, perfect.

- I was gonna attach - this tubing like that

- And then cut it short. - Yeah?

- And then I'm gonna use the - clay to cover the whole thing.

- Cool. - On, my gosh. I love it.

- So excited to see - what it looks like.

- Thank you.

- Crafting makes me - really happy.

- It's sticking. - Let's go.

As happy as, like,

eating 1,000 tacos.

Who doesn't like tacos?

- I'm seeing an elephant form.

For sure.

- He's got the dryer vent,

- which is already flexible - to begin with, for the trunk,

- Which I think is really smart. - That's cool.

- What I was worried about - with the clay

- Is that it's adding a lot - of weight.

- Heavy!

A pro tip if you're doing

papier-mâché at home

- and you're making it - from scratch...

It can get a little bit stinky.

- You can add cinnamon - or essential oils

To make it smell better.

- Guys, - we have 20 minutes left.

- Right now - I'm making the tentacles

Out of yarn.

So then I will glue

this hoop to the bottom

- of the squid - and then tie it all together,

- And those will be - the tentacles.

- Let's check in on the squid.

How is the squid doing?

- She's braiding the tentacles

with a different yarn.

Loving this!

- That is such a cool idea. - So good! It's so good.

- Ha!

It works!

- Zion, are we making

a woolly mammoth?

- I think so.

I think it's kind of shifted.

I don't have enough time

to finish this elephant.

- You know what looks like - an elephant?

A woolly mammoth.

I chose a woolly mammoth

because they look just

like elephants,

and I can cover up

the mistakes with hair.

- Now, instead of covering - the entire thing with clay,

- Which I was - having trouble with,

I'll cover it with hair.

- It's a woolly mammoth.

That's a genius pivot.

- I was like,

"What if I draped it on top?"

Not only would that solve

the problem with the clay,

- but I thought - it'd just look nicer.

- Right.

- Wait, do woollies have ears?

- I think they do.

- What about tusks? - They definitely have tusks.

- I'm gonna add tusks - under here.

- Okay, well, I think - it's genius, your pivot.

I'm so excited.

- Thank you.

- I'm trying to mix the color

for the lion's face now,

and I think

I about have it right.

Now I am going to paint it.

- She's painting, - she's painting,

The technique is working.

- I'm a little worried - about drying time,

without a mane, you know?

- I'm trying to make the tusks,

- but they're not really sticking - to the face.

So what I'm gonna do is,

I'm gonna add more hot glue,

and after I finish that,

I want to cover it with money

because the tusks and, like,

the ivory are used for money,

- and I'm really excited - for that.

- I'm really worried

about the woolly mammoth.

- Really?

- He's using money...

- What?

- To glue tusks on.

It could come together,

- but to me, - it's like super creative,

But it's making me nervous.

- I made the eyes

out of a cup, some foam,

and then two bottle caps.

So I got the two eyes.

- These are - Craftopia goggles.

They're very expensive.

- These projects

are looking amazing!

- Now I'm kind of stressed.

- Maybe I could give him

a little haircut right here.

- I'm busy making

the crown of my lion.

these projects

look incredible,

and you completed them in such

a short amount of time.

- Nicola, do you want to - start us off?

- Yes. - Okay.

I made a lion because

I'm from South Africa.

It's a cartoon lion.

His name is Finicky.

It looks like it's popping

out of the bushes

and scaring you,

but then you see it's

actually just a nice lion.

And it's an artist.

- As you can see, it has - a paintbrush in its mouth

And it has painted on itself.

- I think that was - a really smart way

- To give that sculptural - element to your project.

- I do feel like the paintbrush - and the paint,

It kind of hid over some

of those techniques

- that were really championing - your project.

- I'm in love with the brush.

- We disagree.

- We disagree,

and I think that the fact

that the lion has a hobby

is crazy fun.

- Thank you.

- And, Zion, walk us

through your woolly mammoth.

- I made Fonty,

the woolly mammoth.

I did tinfoil, then clay

to build it out.

And then I used some

of the extra white clay

- and, like, - pasted money onto it

Because, like,

they're sold, like, nowadays,

- like, the tusks, like the ivory - for, like, money.

- Wow.

- And I was originally - gonna make an elephant.

- I didn't have enough time - to, like, add the floppy ears.

- So I kind of, like, switched it - to a woolly mammoth

- So I could, like, finish it - and make it look nice.

- Sometimes I do that - all the time at work.

- Sometimes it's just - not working out...

And I have a deadline.

- And you just have to switch, - and you have to figure it out.

And you did,

and you really impressed me.

- At the same time, though,

- there's a lot of glue - around the eyes,

And the placement is

a little off-center.

- So you really want to make sure - that's symmetrical next time.

- And, Monroe,

your fabulous squid.

- Well, this is Bling-ward

'cause there's Squidward but

it's kind of like a bling one.

So, for the eyes,

- I had, like, - a kind of dessert-y

Short little plastic cup

that I used.

And then I used one

of the foam balls,

and then I used bottle caps

for the pupils.

- They're cool eyes.

- I've never even seen anything - like that before.

- Thank you.

- Why did you choose a squid?

- I live in West Seattle.

- During the winter, - you can go off to the docks,

And you can see

all of the squid, like,

- glowing near the water. - Wow.

- So I decided to add

a little bit of, like,

the crystal-y ones,

- because when the light hits it, - it sparkles.

- I just wish if you could...

- You could've used - a little bit more blue.

- Maybe if there was - just a bit of blue

In the tentacles

- that are so rich and beautiful - and look like your hair.

- All right, craft-testants,

well, these look incredible.

- I'm very nervous. - I know.

out of tennis balls.

the tennis balls

for my cat.

I'm grabbing, like, crates,

to jump up on things

unless your cat is lazy,

- but my cats are - very energetic.

So I made Moose a bed

out of a suitcase,

and a pro crafting tip

is to just reuse things

and upcycle things

you already have at home...

Anything from a basket,

and I've even seen

a pet bed made from a drawer.

is this lizard as big

I have about 14 pets at home.

I decided to make a cat bed

and a dog bed.

- So I built the wall - of tennis balls,

And I put feathers

because cats like feathers.

And I have lights

at the bottom.

There we go.

And I made these little toys

for the cat.

Oop!

I made these little toys

for the cat on top.

And I made this little bear.

And I didn't, like,

cover the stuffing,

because if the dog has

a little accident inside,

- you could just take out - the stuffing

And throw it away

and put new stuffing inside.

- I'm not sure if the choice

to keep bedding clean or not

was the right choice,

but I wish you made,

like, a cover for it.

What was the most fun part

about making this?

- The glitter. - The glitter.

- The glitter. - Naturally.

- Look, I've got glitter - in my hair.

- So this is

my Malibu beach house.

My cats are hairless.
