MAX: It's gonna be so cool.
It's called an immersive design experience.
See, if you want to design inventions
that help solve real problems for people,
the best way is to see what it's like in their shoes.
HELEN: Makes sense.
CHELSEA: Who are you inventing for?
Nurses? Lawyers?
Beekeepers? MAX: Astronauts.
We've got a biodome from Noodles' Uncle and everything.
We can put it on the lawn!
BRYAN: This sounds like fun.
When I was a kid, my brother and I used to camp out
on our front lawn. We'd read comic books,
listen to tunes...
MAX: This isn't camping. It's a habitat survival module.
BRYAN: Yeah, it's just like a tent, right?
MAX: No, it's an IPH, "inflatable pod habitat,"
and it's way harder than camping, Dad.
We're simulating a NASA mission on Mars for 48 hours.
BRYAN: You gonna roast marshmallows?
MAX: It's Mars!
That would eat up our oxygen and suffocate us.
HELEN: Okay, but 48 hours?
That seems long.
MAX: And the coolest part is we're recording the whole
simulation to send it to NASA.
HELEN: So let me get this straight.
You and your friends are gonna imprison yourself in a space‐pod
on the front lawn for two days for NASA?
MAX: Yeah, pretty much.
CHELSEA: So, I wasn't allowed to go to a beach party
