Original subtitles

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Hey!

Oh, yeah, yeah!

Oh, ho, oh,

whoa-whoa-whoa!

Hi, l`m Bill Gaither.

Over the years, we`ve been thrilled

to bring together great gospel artists in wonderful venues

from all over the world

for something that we call Homecoming concerts.

For this series, ``Gaither Homecoming Olassics,``

we`ve combined the best of the best performances

into a remarkable hour of music.

l could go on and on

about these delightful songs and wonderful artists,

but it`s more powerful to let these songs speak for themselves.

Redeemed, how l love to proclaim it.

Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Redeemed through His infinite mercy,

His child, and forever, l am.

Redeemed, redeemed,

redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Redeemed, redeemed,

His child, and forever, l am.

Redeemed and so happy in Jesus,

no language my rapture can tell.

l know that the light of His presence,

with me doth continually dwell.

Redeemed, redeemed,

redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Redeemed, redeemed,

His child, and forever, l am.

Well, l think of my blessed Redeemer,

l think of Him all the day long.

l sing, for l cannot be silent.

His love is the theme of my song.

Redeemed, redeemed,

redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Redeemed, redeemed,

His child, and forever, l am.

l know l shall see in His beauty,

the King in whose law l delight.

who lovingly guards every footstep and gives me a song in the night.

Redeemed, redeemed,

redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Redeemed, redeemed,

His child, and forever...

His child, and forever,

His child, and forever, l am.

l`m redeemed.

You`re about to hear a song

that has become woven into the fabric of contemporary American history.

The song is ``How Great Thou Art,``

and it became one of the signature songs of the Billy Graham crusades.

George Beverly Shea introduced it to crowds attending the crusade

in Madison Square Garden back in 1 957.

He sang it every night for six straight weeks,

and it was powerful every time.

When we asked Him to sing it at age 93, it still inspired chills.

Here`s Bev Shea with his trademark version

of ``How Great Thou Art.``

l see the stars,

l hear the rolling thunder,

Thy power throughout the universe displayed--

And when l think that God, His Son not sparing,

sent Him to die, l scarce can take it in,

that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to Thee,

``How great Thou art.

How great Thou art.``

Then sings my soul, my Savior, God, to thee,

``How great Thou art.

How great Thou art.``

Now let`s take a trip from the mountains of North Oarolina

to the opera house in Sydney, Australia.

The other day, l passed the place you always liked to go,

and l picked up the phone because l thought you`d want to know,

but l forgot you weren`t there.

l miss you on these days that l`m reminded of your smile

and the funny things you`d say.

l see you most at Ohristmas.

You were like a little kid.

You always loved a good surprise,

and now l must admit that l long more for Heaven

than l ever did before.

You give me one more reason,

and each day, l want it more.

Knowing we can spend a lifetime reminiscing on the past,

knowing l will see your face again where tender moments last.

lt makes me want to go there...

Knowing l won`t be alone.

Knowing you`ll be there makes it easy to go home.

You left a group of fishermen.

Somehow You left me too,

though l have felt You many times and know You saw me through.

l`ve always longed to feel Your arms and look into Your eyes

And talk forever, me and You,

somewhere in paradise.

Knowing we can spend a lifetime reminiscing on the past,

knowing l will see Your face again where tender moments last.

lt makes me want to go there...

Knowing l won`t be alone.

Knowing You`ll be there makes it easy to go home.

Just knowing You`ll be there makes it easy to go home.

Take your burdens to the Lord...

Sing it.

And leave it there.

lf you trust and never doubt,

He will surely bring you out.

Take your burdens to the Lord

and leave it there.

Sing it again.

Leave it there.

Leave it there.

Take your burdens to the Lord

and leave it there.

lf you trust and never doubt,

He will surely bring you out.

Take your burdens to the Lord

and leave it there.

Take your burdens to the Lord

and leave it there.

Sing it.

lf you trust and never doubt,

He will surely bring you out.

Take your burdens to the Lord

and leave it there.

You know, psychologists tell us that about 20 million Americans

experience some level of depression.

No matter how dark or threatening the storm,

the good news of the gospel is, there`s hope.

lf you`re going through one of those storms of life,

here`s a song for you that Gloria and l wrote with Aaron Wilbur.

lt`s entitled ``lt Won`t Rain Always,``

performed so beautifully here by Oynthia Olawson.

Some rain is bound to fall.

And each one sheds his share of tears.

And trouble troubles us all.

But the hurt can`t hurt forever,

and the tears are sure to dry.

And it won`t rain always.

The clouds will soon be gone.

The sun that they`ve been hiding

has been there all along.

And it won`t rain always.

God`s promises are true.

The Son`s gonna shine in His own good time,

and He`s gonna see you through.

The Son`s gonna shine in God`s own good time,

and He will see you through.

You know, history has revealed

that this world has never been very stable--

Just one crisis after the next.

But the good news of the gospel is that for the child of God,

things are gonna get better either way.

One of my greatest joys is combining voices

that l think will bring out the best in each other.

These folks really shined together

on ``l Just Feel Like Something Good ls About To Happen.``

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

l just feel like something good is on its way.

He has promised that he`d open all of Heaven,

and, brother, it could happen any day.

When God`s people humble themselves and call on Jesus,

and they look to Heaven expecting as they pray,

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

And, brother, this could be that very day.

l have learned in all that happens just to praise Him,

for l know He`s working all things for my good.

Every tear l shed is worth all the investment.

And l know He`ll see me through; He said He would.

He has promised eye nor ear could hardly fathom

all the things He has in store for those who pray.

Well, l just feel like something good is about to happen.

And, brother, this could be that very day.

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

l just feel like something good is on its way.

He has promised that he`d open all of Heaven.

And, brother, it could happen any day.

When God`s people humble themselves and call on Jesus,

and they look to Heaven expecting as they pray,

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

And, brother, this could be that very day.

l have noticed all the bad news in the paper.

Seems like things are getting bleaker every day.

Jake, for this child of God, it makes no difference,

`cause l know it`s gonna get better either way.

l have never been more thrilled about tomorrow.

Sunshine`s always bursting through skies of gray.

l just feel like something good--

Just about to happen!

And, brother, it could be this very day.

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

l just feel like something good is on its way.

He has promised that He`d open all of Heaven.

And, brother, it could happen any day.

When God`s people humble themselves and call on Jesus,

and they look to Heaven expecting as they pray,

l just feel like something good is about to happen.

And, brother, this could be,

sister, this could be,

brother, this could be that very day.

l will arise and go to Jesus.

He will embrace me in His arms.

ln the arms of Ohrist, my Savior,

oh, there are 1 0,000 charms.

lt`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

A sinner once lost is found.

lt`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Salvation has been brought down.

No wonder the angels rejoice to know

my sins have been covered by the crimson flow.

And now l`m feeling fine.

l`m walking on the highway with my Lord.

My name is written down in the courts above.

lt`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Oh, yes, it`s shoutin` time.

Oome, ye weary, heavy laden, lost and ruined by the fall.

lf you tarry till you`re better, you will never come at all.

lt`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Well, it`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Oh, it`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Oh, yes, it`s shoutin` time.

Well, it`s shoutin` time.

Oh, can you hear them shouting?

Oh, yeah.

No wonder the angels rejoice to know

my sins have been covered by the crimson flow.

And now l`m feeling fine.

l`m walking on the highway with my Lord.

My name is written down in the courts above.

lt`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Oh, yes, it`s shoutin` time.

l said it`s shoutin` time in Heaven.

Oh, yes, it`s shoutin` time.

Let`s keep the energy up with the swinging country sound

of ``Singin` ln My Soul,``

performed by Jeff and Sheri Easter and Oharlotte Ritchie.

l`m so glad, somehow, l`ve got salvation now.

lt keeps the spirit moving in my soul.

Every day, l find, it`s peace and joy divine.

lt keeps me singin` in my soul.

Oh, oh, l`m singin`.

Yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

When the burdens roll,

l sing from morn till night, it makes my burdens light.

And l`m a-singin`, yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

Every now and then, there`s something deep within.

lt often tells me when l`m doing wrong.

l steal away and bow my head in prayer.

My heart rings out inside a song.

Oh, oh, l`m singin`.

Yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

When the burdens roll,

l sing from morn till night,

it makes my burdens light.

And l`m singin`, yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

Oh, oh, l`m singin`.

Yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

When the burdens roll,

l sing from morn till night, it makes my burdens light.

And l`m a-singin`, yes, l`m singin` in my soul.

l`m a-singin`, yes, l`m singin`

in my soul.

You know, every now and then,

a writer writes a song for a particular singer.

Sandi Patty and Larnelle Harris

were getting ready to record another duet record,

and they needed a special song.

Gloria and l had had this chorus for some time,

and so l took the idea down to the producer in Nashville,

and Sandi and Larnelle and the producer loved the chorus.

And so we came back home and, with the help of Danny Daniels,

wrote this song, and when it was done,

we felt like it was one of those very, very special songs.

And once Larnelle and Sandi got their hands on it,

whew, l can`t explain what happened.

lt was one of those special, moving moments.

lt was late afternoon when we got to the tomb,

wrapped His body, and sealed up the grave.

So l know how you feel.

His death was so real,

but please listen, and hear what l say.

l`ve just seen Jesus.

l tell you, He`s alive.

l`ve just seen Jesus,

our precious Lord, alive.

And l knew...

Yes, l knew...

He really saw me too.

He saw me too.

As if till now...

l`d never lived.

All that l`ve done before

won`t matter anymore.

l`ve just seen Jesus,

and l`ll never

be the same again.

lt was His voice she first heard,

those kind, gentle words,

asking what was her reason for tears.

And l sobbed in despair, ``My Lord is not there.``

He said, ``Ohild...

it is l.

l am here.``

l`ve just seen Jesus.

l tell you, He`s alive.

l`ve just seen Jesus,

Our precious Lord, alive.

And l knew...

Yes, l knew...

He really saw me too.

He really saw me too.

lt was--

lt was as if till now...

l`d never lived.

All that l`ve done before

won`t matter anymore.

l`ve just seen Jesus.

l`ve just seen Jesus.

And l`ve just seen Jesus.

And all l`ve ever done before

won`t matter anymore.

l`ve just seen Jesus,

and l`ll never be the same again.

l`ve just seen Jesus.

You know, there`s nothing l like better than a chorus of voices

blending their parts in a sweet old hymn, like this one.

There`s a sweet, sweet spirit

in this place,

and l know that it`s the spirit

of the Lord.

There are sweet expressions on each face,

and l know that it`s the presence

of the Lord.

Sweet Holy Spirit,

Sweet Heavenly Dove,

stay right here with us,

filling us with Your love.

And for these blessings,

we lift our hearts in praise.

Without a doubt, we`ll know that we have been revived

when we shall leave

this place.

One of the most delightful things about these homecoming concerts

is the opportunity to sing in really beautiful venues,

like the historic Paramount Theatre in Anderson, lndiana.

Now, when the rich and the poor get together with the Lord,

get together, get together with the Lord,

well, they will treat each other like sister and brother

when they all get together with the Lord.

Now, when they all get together,

when they all get together with the Lord,

well, they will treat each other like sister and brother

when they all get together with the Lord.

Now, when the tall and the small get together with the Lord,

get together, get together with the Lord,

well, the weak are no longer afraid of the stronger

when they all get together with the Lord.

Now, when they all get together,

when they all get together with the Lord,

well, they will treat each other like sister and brother

when they all get together with the Lord.

Well, God has no favorites;

He just loves us all the same.

His Son died to save us and to keep us in His name.

And soon, we`ll rise to meet Him,

and forever we will reign.

And we will sing, sing, sing, sing, sing.

Now, when we all get together,

when we all get together with the Lord...

Well, we will treat each other like sister and brother...

When we all get together with the Lord,

with the Lord.

Take a listen to this powerful performance

of ``There ls Power ln The Blood.``

Would you be free from your burden of sin?

There`s power in the blood, power in the blood.

Would you o`er evil a victory to win?

There`s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power...

Wonder-working power...

ln the blood of the Lamb.

There is power, power...

Wonder-working power...

ln the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?

There`s power in the blood, yes, power in the blood,

and sin stains are lost in its life-giving flow.

There`s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the blood of the Lamb.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

And would you be free from your passion and pride?

Power in the blood.

Oh, yeah, now.

Power in the blood.

Oome for a cleansing to calvary`s side.

Wonderful power in the blood.

Oh, power.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the blood of the Lamb.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Hey!

Oh, yeah, yeah!

Oh, ho, oh, whoa-whoa-whoa!

Would you do service for Jesus, your King?

There`s power in the blood.

Oh, yeah.

Power in the blood.

Would you live daily His praises to sing?

There`s wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the blood of the Lamb.

There is power, power, wonder-working power

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

There is power, power, wonder-working power.

Oh, that`s mighty power.

ln the blood.

That`s mighty, that`s mighty power, power...

Wonder-working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Power, power, wonder-working power...

in the blood of the Lamb.

That`s mighty, that`s mighty power, power...

Wonder-working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Power, power...

Wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb.

That`s mighty.

ln the blood.

Power, power, wonder-working power

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Oh, Lord, yes, l said,

in the precious blood of the Lamb.

The Speer family is really royalty in the realm of southern gospel music.

We put together some archival footage

to remember the legacy of this wonderful family for the song

``Where We`ll Never Grow Old.``

l think you`re gonna like this one.

ln Heaven today?

Built by Jesus on high, there we never shall die.

`Tis a land where we`ll never grow old.

Never grow old.

There`ll be no lack of fruit on the tree of life.

There`ll be plenty of leaves shed from its branches.

There`ll be no dearth of water

as it gurgles down the beautiful braes of Heaven,

cascading from beneath the white throne of almighty God.

There`ll be no lack of room along the glassy sea commingled with fire

while an angelic choir sings an hallelujah anthem

to Moses and the Lamb.

ln a land where we`ll never grow old.

When our work here is done, and our life-crown is won...

And our troubles and trials are o`er,

all our sorrows will end, and our voices will blend

with the loved ones who`ve gone on before.

Never grow old, never grow old.

ln a land where we`ll never grow old.

Never grow old, never grow old.

ln a land where we`ll never grow old.

You know, back before the days of television,

the radio was often the centerpiece of the home.

lt brought comedy, drama, the news, and, of course, music.

This old chestnut written by Albert Brumley

is a wonderful celebration of that era and a lot of fun to sing too.

Get in touch with God.

Turn your radio on.

Oome and listen in to a radio station

where the mighty hosts of Heaven sing.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

lf you want to hear the songs of Zion

coming from the land of endless spring,

get in touch with God.

Get in touch with God.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on, and listen to the music in the air.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Heaven`s glory share.

Heaven`s glory share.

Turn your lights down low.

Turn your lights down low, and listen to the Master`s radio.

Get in touch with God.

Get in touch with God.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Don`t you know that everybody is a radio receiver?

All you have to do is listen for the call.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

lf you listen in, you will be a believer,

leaning on a truth that will never fall.

Turn the lights down low.

Turn the lights down low, and listen to the Master`s radio.

Get in touch with God.

Get in touch with God.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on, and listen to the music in the air.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

Heaven`s glory share.

Heaven`s glory share.

Turn the lights down low.

Turn your lights down low, and listen to the Master`s radio.

Get in touch with God.

Get in touch with God.

Turn your radio on.

Turn your radio on.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarm.

Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarm.

Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

What have l to dread?

What have l to fear?

Leaning on the everlasting arms.

l have blessed peace with my Lord so near,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning,

safe and secure from all alarm.

Leaning, leaning,

leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning on the everlasting arms.

You know, not many people have had the privilege of meeting their heroes.

l`ve had an even greater honor

to actually sing with many of the people

l`ve admired since l was a boy.

l wrote this song in tribute to them,

and it thrilled my soul to perform it with some of them

at the Kennedy Oenter.

Old friends.

After all of these years, just old friends.

Through laughter and tears, old friends.

What a find.

What a priceless treasure.

Old friends.

Like a rare piece of gold,

my old friends make it great to grow old.

Old friends.

Through it all, l will hold to old friends.

Now, God must have known there`d be days on our own.

We would lose the will to go on.

That`s why he sent friends like you along.

Along.

Old friends.

You`ve always been there, my old friends.

We`ve had more than our share, old friends.

We are all millionaires in old friends.

The Smithsonian lnstitute described Albert Brumley

as the greatest white gospel songwriter before World War ll

and with such classics as ``Turn Your Radio On``

and ``l`ll Fly Away`` to his credit, you might be inclined to agree.

Here`s one of His most popular songs: ``Jesus, hold my hand.``

Dear Lord, each day to help me do the best l can.

For l need thy light to guide me day and night.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Jesus, hold my hand.

l need Thee every hour.

Through this pilgrim land, protect me by Thy power.

Hear my feeble plea.

Oh, Lord, look down on me.

When l kneel in prayer, l hope to meet you there.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Anthony Burger.

Let me travel in the light divine that l may see the blessed way.

Oynthia Olawson.

Keep me that l may be wholly Thine and sing redemption`s song some day.

l will be the soldier brave and true

and ever firmly take a stand.

As l onward go, l`ll gladly meet the foe.

When l kneel in prayer, l hope to meet You there.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Russ Taff now sings with the Gaither Vocal Band,

but back in the `70s, he was with the lmperials.

This song with him singing lead became one of the landmark songs

of Oontemporary Ohristian Music,

and when you hear His delivery, you`ll understand why.

Here`s Russ Taff with ``Praise The Lord.``

When you`re up against a struggle

that shatters all your dreams

and your hopes have been cruelly crushed

by satan`s manifested schemes

and you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fear,

don`t let the faith you`re standing in seem to disappear.

Praise the Lord.

He will work through those who praise Him.

Praise the Lord.

For our God inhabits praise.

Praise the Lord.

For the chains that seem to bind you

serve only to remind you

that they drop powerless behind you

when you praise Him.

Remember, remember that satan is a liar,

and he wants to make us think that we are paupers

when he knows himself that we`re children of the King.

So lift up the mighty shield of faith, for the battle must be won.

We know that Jesus Ohrist is risen and the work`s already done.

So praise the Lord.

He will work through those who praise Him.

Praise the Lord.

For our God inhabits praise.

Praise the Lord.

For the chains that seem to bind you serve only to remind you

that they`ll drop powerless behind you

when you praise Him.

Praise the Lord.

He will work through those who praise Him.

Praise the Lord.

Our God abides in our praise.

Praise the Lord.

For all the chains that seem to bind you

serve only to remind you they will drop powerless behind you

when you praise Him.

Everybody, everybody praise Him.

Everybody ought to praise Him.

When you praise Him,

there`s power when you praise,

when you praise,

when you praise the Lord,

when you praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

The sands have been washed in the footprints

of the stranger on Galilee`s shore,

and the voice that subdued the rough billows

will be heard in Judea no more.

But the path of that lone Galilean,

with joy, l will follow today.

And the toils of the road will seem nothing

when l get to the end of the way.

And the toils of the road will seem nothing

when l get to the end of the way.

There are so many hills to climb upward,

l often am longing for rest,

but He who appoints me my pathway

knows just what is needful and best.

l know in His word He hath promised

that my strength, it will be as my day.

And the toils of the road will seem nothing

when l get to the end of the way.

And the toils of the road will seem nothing

when l get to the end of the way.

When l get to the end of the way.

Now let`s travel to the Georgia Dome to watch Anthony Burger`s fingers

dance across the piano keys on that old gem,

``l`ve got that old-time religion in my heart.``

l`m glad Jesus came.

Glory to His name.

Oh, what a friend is He.

He so freely gave His own life to save,

from bonds of sin set free.

l`ve got that old-time religion in my heart.

Away down inside.

l`ve got a new kind of feeling in my heart.

True joys abide.

Nobody knows what it means to me.

Nobody knows but my Lord and me.

l`ve got that old-time religion in my heart.

Away down inside.

Well, we have sure not run out of great gospel classics,

but we have run out of time for now.

So thanks for joining me,

and l want to encourage you

to keep the messages of these great gospel songs in your heart.

Until next time, l`m Bill Gaither.

Sinner, won`t you now humbly to Him bow?

Just let the Lord come in.

You`ll find perfect peace.

Joy will never cease.

You shall the life-crown win.

l`ve got that old-time religion in my heart.

Away down inside.

l`ve got a new kind of feeling in my heart.

True joys abide.

Nobody knows what it means to me.

Nobody knows but my Lord and me.

l`ve got that old-time religion in my heart.

Away down inside.
