Episode 15

We aren't expecting anyone.

Who is it?

By any chance...

do you know this woman?

Her address was indicated as here.

No, I don't know her. I only have sons.

I see.

If you subscribe to our paper, you'll qualify for a $100 gift certificate.

No thanks.

You should if you can.

This is the paper Joong Won used to like to read.

Who are you?

Lee Hyuk Soo?

Joong Won!

How did you get down?

Is everything okay?

I heard you're looking for good people so I asked around to find you here.

You must have talked to Choi Young Suk.

Ah... by any chance...

have you heard anything about my mother?

She's doing fine, right?

I thought you knew.

What are you talking about?

That's okay. Just tell me.

What about my mother?

I don't know what the reason was.

But she was taken to the Security Command and...

executed by shooting.

What?

I have something I have to talk to you about.

Please have a seat.

Please explain things in simple terms.

Since he's sustained a gunshot wound in the head...

some degree of an after-effect is expected but...

based on the detailed analysis of the MRI...

Go ahead and tell me.

The bullet fragment that's been lodged against his frontal lobe...

is gradually moving toward the center of his brain.

What are the possible symptoms?

There will be excruciating pain...

which could lead to poor memory and personality disorder.

In other words, the psychopathic tendencies could be increased.

He'd lose the ability to control his anger.

From there, it's possible that he might possess extremely violent tendencies.

The important point here is...

if he goes untreated...

he could die from the shock caused by the extreme pain.

Or he may not be able to control the impulse to commit suicide.

We need to find him as soon as possible.

Who is it?

What is it?

Everyone has gone out and I'm all alone here.

If you were in, I thought we could discuss our future plan.

Is that so? Come in.

You were having a drink?

Would you like some?

Would that be okay?

So... tell me what you are wondering about.

Did you confirm it?

He's definitely dead, isn't he?

What the hell do you think you're doing?

Did Captain order you to do this?

Joong Won?

No, I don't receive orders from anyone.

I planned on killing him since I first saw him in Pyongchang during the peace talks.

It's just that I hadn't had a chance until now.

What? You think it's unfair?

Then let's have a round.

You are seriously...

What the hell are you doing?

Stop it now!

When I came back, Kim Yun Hwa had...

Park Tae Hee, you should wait outside.

I'll be fine, so wait outside.

Tell me what happened.

I told you already.

Any military hard-liners from the Republic who come across my path will die in my hands.

Why? Isn't this what you wanted also?

Shouldn't you be thankful to me and...

why the hell would you follow someone who won't even protect your mother in the North?

- Get out. - Joong Won.

Don't you ever appear before me again.

Otherwise... I'll leave a bullet hole in your head.

Understand?

Understand?

[Agency for Defense Development]

What in the world could it be to have me come all the way here at this hour?

What in the world is this about?

It's over 30 years old and I want your verification.

Over 30 years? What kind of antique would you be talking about?

Whether this is still functional... that's the most important part.

This is... it can't be...

Yes, it's a nuclear weapon.

Put all your other projects on hold and prioritize verifying the functionality of this.

Welcome.

Would you like to order now?

I'd like to have these two to go and a cup of coffee for here.

Sure.

[That woman is here again now.]

[That woman is here again now.]

It's me. You know the place I told you about?

Park Tae Hee is there now.

How long do we have?

We have until the food is prepared, so at most, we are talking 20 minutes.

First, secure the CCTVs in front of that restaurant.

She may have driven there.

Okay.

Manager, the order is ready.

Be quiet.

It's taking a little too long.

If it isn't ready, I like to go now.

They're ready now.

Ah, coffee.

It's 20,000 won ($20).

Thank you.

Please come back again.

What did you say the license plate number was?

It's 7251 and is a silver car.

Oh my... how did you scrape the car? It looked like a new car, too.

Here it is.

She's from building 206, Apt 405.

- Building 206, Apt 405? - Yes.

- Go ahead. - I found Park Tae Hee.

- What about Yoo Joong Won? - He's probably with her.

I'll send Yoon Shi Hyuk and Seo Hyun Woo as back up. So wait until they arrive.

- It'll take about 20 minutes. - Yes.

What are you thinking so hard about?

I'm worried about Yun Hwa.

While we're at it, would you mind looking for Yun Hwa?

She has no place to go.

She's like a little sister to me.

She truly is a pitiful child.

If it hadn't been Yun Hwa...

I'd have killed Kwon Young Choon.

Excuse me?

For the construction of a great power, I had joined Kwon Young Choon

and never even complained once in the face of hardship.

Kwon Young Choon was only focused on gaining power.

He was only thinking about giving IRIS nuclear weapons...

and uranium mines in the North.

The suffering of our people wasn't even on his radar.

Since he ignored the promise he made with me...

and let my mother die like that.

At the end...

I'd have killed him with my own hands.

Before it's too late, hurry up and look for Yun Hwa.

Yes, I understand.

[The NSS agents are headed that way. Get out of there, now.]

We've been discovered. We should move now.

Park Choon Sung.

We'll regroup later.

Are you okay?

We need to get you treated first.

What about Park Tae Hee?

She's gone.

Park Choon Sung!

Wherever you go, take care of yourself.

I sincerely feel sorry about... the death of your mother.

That was not what I intended.

We'll postpone this match until next time.

Get in!

Yoo Joong Won!

Yoo Joong Won.

Yoo Joong Won.

[Blocked Caller ID]

This is Yoo Joong Won.

Did you find Baek San, yet?

We're looking for him. But there was a problem.

What kind of a problem?

Representative Kwon is dead.

Then our relationship is finished here.

I'll take care of things.

Even with a change of power in the North, I'm not sure you could be of help to me.

I know what Representative Kwon has promised you.

If you would support me, I'll give you all the uranium mines in the North.

Do you realize what could happen if you don't keep your promise?

My only goal is to build a powerful republic that could be independent of any foreign influence.

I know very well that I can't achieve that goal...

without IRIS's help.

Once I find the nuclear weapons Baek San has hidden...

I'll hand all of them over to you, except one.

What are you going to do with it?

As the signal of the war of unification...

I'll turn the city of Seoul... into a sea of fire.

Find Baek San.

- Then, I'll think about it. - Okay.

- Did you really mean that? - What?

Are you really going to hand over all the uranium mines in the North to IRIS?

No way.

In order to start a unification war, we absolutely need IRIS's help.

Once our republic has regained its power...

then I'll eradicate every existence of IRIS from this earth.

Joong Won.

Are you still mad?

You didn't mean it when you said you'd put a bullet in my head, right?

I just happened to hear your mother had been executed and...

I just got really angry.

It made me think of my mom.

Why aren't you saying anything?

Are you still mad?

Yes, Deputy Director.

What happened?

We were too late.

What about Jung Yoo Gun?

I saw him chasing after Yoo Joong Won but...

he disappeared.

Yes, I got it.

Deputy Director and you...

have you two been secretly helping Team Leader Jung?

Tell me. What are you guys plotting?

There is nothing I can tell you.

If you have questions... you should ask Deputy Director directly.

Yes.

What about Yoo Joong Won?

Before Seo Hyun Woo came, he found out somehow and got away.

But instead, I got Kim Yun Hwa.

Then, bring her over here.

I can't go to the NSS.

They already knew we were coming.

That means someone from the NSS tipped them off.

Besides Seo Hyun Woo and Yoon Shi Hyuk who else knew about this?

It was just those two.

If you find out anything from Kim Yun Hwa, call me right away.

Yes.

- What's the matter? - It's nothing.

Did you get hurt?

I hurt my back.

Aren't you having too much fun alone?

When am I ever going to hurt my back?

Come out.

The situation has reversed since Japan.

You must be happy... now that you have a chance for revenge.

Revenge?

I guess you joined IRIS so that you can take revenge.

I'm not interested in taking revenge on you.

Then?

Since Rey is dead, now...

it's Yoo Joong Won's turn.

Where is Yoo Joong Won?

Didn't you listen to what I said earlier?

I'm also looking for Joong Won.

Anything else will suffice also.

Anything about IRIS or Mr. Black will be good.

Do as you please.

Since I know nothing, there'll be nothing for me to say.

I hope this is to your liking.

Because I killed Kwon Young Choon, Joong Won kicked me out.

I have no way of getting in touch with him.

You went out following the Deputy Director's order, didn't you?

- What was it about? - It was nothing.

Did it by any chance...

have anything to do with Team Leader Jung?

No, it wasn't.

What's going on?

- Are you okay? - Yes.

Where is Shi Hyuk?

He dropped me off and said he had some business to take care of.

Sit down.

If you have something to say, go ahead.

By any chance, is there something you didn't tell me about Team Leader Jung?

After he disappeared, I don't know what happened to him.

I don't believe that.

You know... where he is, don't you?

Ji Soo Yun.

What's the most important thing you can think of as the leader of the TF-A Team?

Yoo Joong Won, Baek San, Jung Yoo Gun...

Out of those three who disappeared, who should we try to find first?

Do you want me to say it's Baek San?

The President will visit the NSS tomorrow. Before that...

I have something I need to show you.

You need to come with me.

[Agency for Defense Development]

What are those?

The reason why IRIS and Yoo Joong Won are pursuing Baek San.

Out of the five Baek San had, we've secured four of them.

These are nuclear weapons completed during the 4th administration.

Do you have the results from the analysis?

As you said, the explosive strength is 1.5 times that of the Hiroshima bomb.

It has achieved quite an advanced stage of miniaturization for the technology at the time.

Is it still functional?

If you wanted to, you can use it right now.

I'm not sure whether this will be a good or a bad thing but....

if we can study these...

we'll be able to surpass the North's nuclear technology almost overnight... no...

We'll be able to surpass India or Pakistan's nuclear technologies.

Currently, we have 15 million nuclear fuel rods in this country.

We have the ability to effectively process and dispose of them, too.

What does that mean?

If we wanted to, within two to three months...

we'd be able to produce 150 miniaturized nuclear bombs

below one ton with the explosive power of 20 kilotons.

What?

Hypothetically, if all 15 million nuclear fuel rods were to be processed...

that means over 20,000 nuclear bombs could be produced all at once.

You should keep this to yourself.

Yes.

And... there's something I want you to do.

Run background checks on Seo Hyun Woo and Yoon Shi Hyuk.

Even Hyun Woo?

Bank account, social relations, family and travel status...

I want you to find out everything about them.

What's the reason?

There was an incident that made them possible spy suspects.

Deputy Director.

I don't know about Yoon Shi Hyuk, but Hyun Woo is...

Would you be able to do this without getting your personal feelings involved?

How do you find... Yoo Joong Won?

Just... kill me.

How do we get in touch with him?

I said just... kill me.

Kim Yun Hwa.

What are you doing this for?

You're not even IRIS anymore.

Didn't you say Yoo Joong Won also abandoned you?

Do you have any idea what Yoo Joong Won is trying to do?

He wants to carry out nuclear terrorism in the middle of Seoul...

taking away the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

Like me, you must know the grief of losing your mother...

That's right.

They also have mothers and families like we once did.

If you don't want them to experience the same kind of suffering we went through...

help me find Yoo Joong Won...

so that we may stop the nuclear terrorism.

It's not going to be easy.

The NSS has an iron-clad security system.

Let's see who's going to win.

What about Yun Hwa?

Not yet. But the NSS has been to the apartment.

Where the hell is she?

It might be better... if you don't look for her anymore.

She killed Representative Kwon Young Choon.

You don't know when she'd turn and have you at gun point.

If that happens...

I'm not going to leave her alone.

She's not that kind of kid.

[Blocked Caller ID]

This is Yoo Joong Won.

I got it.

Eat it...

if you want to live.

Perhaps... you might be right.

I've endured all those times to take revenge.

Now... I'm not so sure what I'm doing this for.

It's not like it'll make...

my dead mother come back to life.

I don't even know... where the end is.

You asked me in Japan... if Ji Soo Yun was my lover.

You were right. She was the one I loved.

A year ago on that day... if I hadn't been shot in the head...

that very night, I was going to propose to her.

IRIS brainwashed me and...

I carried out assassination missions without knowing who I was.

And finally...

I shot the person I love with my own hands.

Ever since my memory returned...

I can't get Soo Yun's... expression out of my head.

Her eyes staring at me after I shot her...

Did you say you didn't know where the end of your revenge is?

In order to take revenge for the person who sacrificed himself for me...

I killed Rey. And now...

I'm going to take revenge solely for my mother.

At the end of that...

Yoo Joong Won is there.

Joong Won... killed... your mother?

So you were Deputy Director's right-hand man?

The woman is Ji Soo Yun.

The man is the Director of NSS, Kang Chul Hwan.

We need Jung Yoo Gun as bait to get Baek San.

And you'll need Ji Soo Yun to get Jung Yoo Gun.

What about Kang Chul Hwan?

Mr. Black wants to find out whether we could convince him to come to our side.

In order to get Ji Soo Yun...

I think I'll need your help.

Once I have the date and the time, I'll let you know.

Don't get found out and hide yourself well in the NSS.

Who was it that you were talking to?

How did you find me here?

My partner disappeared without a word.

I should find him even if I had to trace his location.

Then... did you see who I was talking to?

I saw who it was while I was waiting here.

Wasn't that Yoo Joong Won?

Was this also Deputy Director's order?

I think I need to report this first.

Man... I wasn't going to kill him.

Run background checks on Seo Hyun Woo and Yoon Shi Hyuk.

Here.

But are you sure this is a proper internal investigation?

Why are you running background checks on those two?

I'll let you know once I find out.

Did Hyun Woo get a new ID card last year?

Yeah.

It was... the day before Section Chief Park Joon Han passed away.

What?

Section Chief Park told me to issue a new one for him without a penalty.

And then Baek San's safety house was attacked.

At the time, Hyun Woo was here at the NSS.

- Yes. - What about Yoon Shi Hyuk?

Was there anything suspicious?

You'll know when you see it, but there wasn't anything suspicious.

I found out Yoon Shi Hyuk has spent a lot of time aboard.

His family immigrated when he was in junior high.

And he put himself through college on a corporate scholarship fund.

He even had a permanent residency in the U.S.

Yoon Shi Hyuk.

You need to come with us for a minute.

What are you doing?

What is this about?

If you brought me here... you need to tell me what this is about.

By any chance...

when Baek San caught me...

did you shoot me on purpose?

What are you talking about?

You lied that you lost your ID card. Did you really give it IRIS?

Ji Soo Yun.

How could you...

Would it be okay to leave them together?

Yeah.

What?

Not to the National Forensic Service but bring the body here to be examined.

Yoon Shi Hyuk's partner Song Young Min was found dead.

Do you know why...

we are in here now?

Is it you?

A spy hiding inside the NSS.

If you're going to talk trash...

just keep your mouth shut.

I think we are the suspects.

If it isn't me... then it's you.

I told you to keep your mouth shut.

I guess you must have something to hide. You keep on telling me to shut up.

Hyun Woo.

I had no idea I'd be interrogating you for something like this.

I believe that it's not you, but...

since I'm in charge of your interrogation, even if it hurts, I want your cooperation.

I'm going to begin.

Since when?

Was it before or after you joined the NSS?

When do you think it was?

I'm going to start from the church incident.

Are there more emergency protocols which utilize NSS agents' family members?

Do you think I told them that was your brother's church?

Don't be like this.

If you don't cooperate, it'll be to your disadvantage.

I guess it's really easy for you.

How could you do this to me?

If I were to pick someone that could be doubted as a spy...

the one who became IRIS and got involved in assassinating the North Korean representatives...

and the one who shot you...

He should be the first suspect.

You trust Team Leader Jung no matter what.

Whereas doubting me... seems really easy for you.

Hyun Woo.

Even though I'm nothing to you...

I thought at least you trusted in me as a colleague.

If you intend to interrogate me, find someone else to do it.

I don't want to continue this anymore.

Our mission is...

to secure Baek San's nuclear weapons.

Joong Won, who's Baek San?

He was being protected by the NSS until a short while ago.

Now, he's missing and no one knows where he is.

- Kang Min Woo. - Yes.

You should hack into CCTVs and the NSS's information network

to find out all you can about current location of Baek San.

Understood.

And Park Tae Hee should be in charge of Ji Soo Yun.

Find out her daily movements and once I give my order...

even if you have to kidnap her, you need to bring her here.

Yes.

Once we find Baek San and secure the nuclear weapons...

we can start the unification war we so desired.

When that happens, you'll forever be remembered...

as the heroes of the people in a unified republic.

- Don't forget that. - Yes!

The National Archives?

He ordered the assassination of the five nuclear physicists

who participated in the nuclear program during the 4th administration.

I once heard from Rey that...

Mr. Black is out of the five nuclear physicists Baek San was ordered to kill, the only survivor.

I found Jung Yoo Gun.

You have to catch him. You can't let him go.

What the situation inside the NSS?

We are going to interrogate both Yoon Shi Hyuk and Seo Hyun Woo.

IRIS has always had its spies integrated into the NSS.

Hyun Woo. Since when?

Ui Sang Chul, did you also kill him?

If I were to pick one that could be doubted as a spy...

the one who became IRIS and got involved in assassinating the North Korean representatives...

and the one who shot you...

He should be the first suspect.

If you've been secretly aiding Jung Yoo Gun, you better stop it now.

Is it you? The spy inside the NSS.
