Original subtitles

I give my condolences to the deceased.

I heard he died trying to stop him.

Whatever happens, I'll catch him.

I'll help you, too.

At that time, you said he's a complex one.

That he wants to stop.

I was wrong.

He's ruining my life and dragging me into this...

I thought there had to be some kind of meaning.

A split personality or some type of conviction.

It's all pointless.

Pied Piper...

That bastard is a crazy murderer.

He must be.

Episode 13

What happened to your hand?

I just got hurt.

You know the tape Seong Chan asked for...

Did he say anything about it?

Huh?

Ah, that...

Well, the tapes had already disappeared when I got there.

But... are those tapes that important?

I'll explain later. Instead...

you have to keep my looking into this behind his back a secret.

Got it?

Nothing particular. The incident occurred at the same time, too.

Really?

As you all know, the Chief will stand in for the Commissioner for now.

I'll be the temporary team leader for the Negotiation Team.

We must catch that Jeong Soo Gyeong before he starts something else.

That is paying back for Team Leader Gong's death.

Wouldn't we get something if we trace the entrance route of the sarin gas?

The investigative team is looking into it, but there's no problem so far.

I'll question Detective Lee Cheol Yong more in depth.

Okay.

Sergeant Choi, how about the hospital escape route?

I reviewed all the CCTVs, but nothing.

With the Wanted List out there, wouldn't we get something?

Yeah, I hope so.

He's good at running away.

Why don't we...

change our methods?

You're looking at today's agendas and news items.

Besides the Reporter Jang Ha Neul being replaced by someone else due to her poor condition,

it looks like it can move forward the way it is, Press Director.

Jeong Soo Gyeong...

We want to place him on open Wanted List via broadcast. That's possible, right?

What?

His picture, personal information, and everything about him...

We'll spread everything on TV for people to see and receive information.

Even if he's Jeong Soo Gyeong, we'll step on his tail.

Why? Would it be difficult?

More than that...

You said you'd help me catch him.

Of course I should.

Compile the information and send it to me.

He asked me about the tape, but I didn't say anything.

Seong Chan, you were chasing the Piper. What does that have anything to do with the press director...

You want to know?

And what if you get to face the truth you can't handle?

If I must know, I'd rather find out for myself than hear it from someone else.

It's probably not true anyway.

We're placing the Pied Piper, the serial terrorist, on the open Wanted List.

His name is Jeong Soo Gyeong, age 31, height 5'9", weight 154 lbs.

He's known to be tall and slender.

He was behind the Le Ciel Restaurant explosion, the Century Bank hostage incident, and the TNN Broadcasting Company terror attack.

He is suspected of murdering TNN's former press director Lee Joon Gyeong.

If you know of Jeong Soo Gyeong's whereabouts or have spotted him, call TNN or

call 112 or call the Crisis Negotiation Team at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

We request your information.

Hello, where did you see him?

- What? - Jeong Soo Gyeong is a man. You saw the picture, didn't you?

Are you sure?

A team was dispatched in Changchundong, but it wasn't him.

Everyone, don't be in a hurry.

He's the one who's most anxious right now. Let's see how long

he can be on the run.

Everyone is here, Chairman.

All the big fists in Korea are all gathered here.

Finding all the debtors who are on the run...

you beat up the ones who keep their mouths shut to get them to talk.

You're second to none.

Are you all struggling making a living like that?

Bring that Jeong Soo Gyeong using any methods possible.

I'll change your life!

Interrogation Room

Did you find out anything from Detective Lee?

It looks like he obtained the sarin gas and the mask through the locker.

Don't speak carelessly about other people's pain like that.

Commissioner Yang that a**hole! Thirteen years ago and even now...

He doesn't care whether his subordinates die or not...

Why? How come? Why is all that guilt and pain all mine?

Did you ask him about talking about an incident from thirteen years ago?

Yes, he was part of the Rio Control Team then.

Sergeant Jeong who died during the suppression was his direct subordinate.

The only one who died with the civilians there...

was your direct subordinate.

The Pied Piper brought it up first when he first approached him.

During the New Town Redevelopment incident,

because the police had died along with the civilians, they were able to escape criticism.

He emphasized Commissioner Yang's intentions regarding that to encourage Detective Lee.

You didn't cause their death, but Commissioner Yang did.

I'm sure it was Yoon Hee Seong who did that.

Why is he so stuck on the New Town incident?

That's because he's a direct victim from the incident.

Yeah, right.

Let's say there's a suspect. I'm sure in my heart

but there's no evidence.

What will you do if it was me?

Team Leader Gong always said us cops need to use our bodies.

If not, we'd have to follow him 24/7.

Wait.

Calm down. You're saying Jeong Soo Gyeong is over there?

Ha Na unni... I mean, Team Leader called about a report.

Really?

What is it?

There's a report from a pawn shop in Jongro.

Are you sure? Is it a false report or a mistake...

Be quiet. I sent the CCTV clip, so check it.

Okay.

The clip is on.

I think this is it.

He came in five minutes ago and the cops are on their way.

It's close by, so let's go. Where's Joo Seong Chan?

I can't get ahold of him from earlier.

I saw him at the agency in the morning.

- Let's go. - Okay.

Please send us the information you receive at the broadcasting station regarding Jeong Soo Gyeong to us right away.

Why?

The Chairman must be bored sitting in his hospital room.

I understand.

Excuse me.

Lieutenant Yeo

Why did you go to the pawn shop?

How did you...

I believe I told you to stay put quietly.

Well, that's... I felt like I had to hurry up and move forward with the next plan.

I'll take care of that. The police are on their way right now.

It's okay. I'm confident I won't get caught...

You still haven't come to your senses yet?

You know... I've only thought of vengeance since that day.

For me to take my hands off of this means to die.

Alright, but run away for now.

Wait...

Oh, ho... where did I put that?

Geez...

Jeong Soo Gyeong!

Did you make the report?

He was just here? When did he go?

Yes, we just arrived.

Go ahead.

He's no where to be seen. Did he catch on that we were on our way?

How could he...

Seong Chan, where are you?

You called?

We received a report saying Jeong Soo Gyeong appeared. We dispatched, but we lost him.

As though he knew we were already on our way.

Really?

What do you mean "Really?" It was a great chance to catch the Piper.

What are you doing roaming around alone? You should tell me...

I'll share it with you later.

The call is not going through. After the sound of the beep, you'll be connected to the voicemail.

There will be an additional charge.

A**holes! You a**holes!

Soo Gyeong, come to your senses.

Jeong Soo Gyeong, come to your senses.

Nightmare... The nightmares won't stop.

Me, too.

Perhaps, we've been dreaming the same dream.

Don't worry.

This nightmare...

We'll give it right back to them.

Don't move on your own until I call you. Stay quietly for now as though you're dead.

Your safety comes before the plan.

Hello.

- You've seen him before, right? - I don't know.

You didn't even look at it straight. I heard your place is the best at making one-way phones.

Give me your accounting book. Give it!

Let's see...

Good work!

Good work.

Good work.

Good work.

- Did you hear? - What?

Jeong Soo Gyeong. The reporters on the ground say

all the loan sharks and thugs are out there looking for him nationwide.

Really? Why?

There's a terrible rumor that says someone put a reward on Jeong Soo Gyeong's head.

Even if he's caught that way, is that good?

Press Director?

I have to get going.

You know the information you requested about Jeong Soo Gyeong last time?

Is the K Group looking for him personally?

Chairman Seo let loose the hunting dogs.

They disregard law or process. They'll find him faster than the cops.

Any progress?

Why? I'm sure you're aware you can't broadcast anything about us.

Just a personal curiosity.

I don't know that well either. It's being reported directly to the Chairman.

How is the Chairman's health?

He's quite tenacious, so his life isn't in danger.

But we'll have to see.

He placed him on the open Wanted List himself.

I thought that he'd do something to protect him, but...

I'll take care of that. The police is on their way right now.

We received a report saying Jeong Soo Gyeong appeared. We dispatched,

but we lost him.

How? Is he receiving the police radio?

It doesn't matter. He'll be more at ease when he meets Jeong Soo Gyeong.

I'll catch you then.

This is the hospital Chairman Seo is in.

VIP Room

Wow, why bring me all this...

Take this and get well soon.

You must not have wanted to see me just to give me this.

What's your reason for visiting an old man who is almost dead?

Please go ahead and talk.

I've been informed that recently, gangsters

have begun to look for Jeong Soo Gyeong.

The reporters say they want to cover this story.

So naturally, I came to ask if they are your people.

No need to pay attention to that.

Jeong Soo Gyeong will be here soon, begging on his knees for me to save him.

Have you caught him already?

Very soon, they will invade where that boy is staying.

What will you do with him?

So that he will never cause trouble again,

and say useless things again, I must take care of him.

Quietly.

Where are you right now?

I'm in the workroom. You told me to stay quiet.

Get out of there right now. Clean up all traces of having been there, first.

I don't think the police will find me here.

Chairman Seo released the hunting dogs. I think they've already picked up your scent and are on their way.

It's this way. Everyone, this way!

Hurry up and get out.

Hurry up and get out.

Yes, Seo Joon. Are you at the hospital?

Yes.

Yoon Hee Seong was just there, right? Do you know what they talked about?

Father has released his people

and said he will soon capture and bring Jeong Soo Gyeong.

He said he will take care of him quietly.

D-does that mean...?

If we catch him first, that won't happen.

I think I know where Jeong Soo Gyeong is.

I will send you his location, so please dispatch the team.

Get in now.

Were you badly hurt?

I'm all right.

How could you come here? You could be seen.

Chairman Seo plans to capture you and kill you.

That indicates that he is very scared.

But still, if you come here...

So should I just stand back and watch?

When you could die?

I'm sorry. You doing all this, because of me.

There isn't much more left.

We have to see it through to the end.

For now, stay with Father.

Yes, I understand.

Seong Chan, they said there was a fight nearby.

He ran away from the gangsters Chairman Seo sent.

I'm on my way there, so please block off the streets.

Black sedan. License plate number is 23 (oh) 6358.

Jeong Soo Gyeong is in that car.

What is all this?

Well, because, Joo Seong Chan...

What happened?

What a relief. Jeong Soo Gyeong said that his next target was Yoon Hee Seong.

He called me directly.

What?

I thought you were kidnapped by that punk.

Is that true?

I believe the police must protect Yoon Hee Seong 24/7 from now on.

Jeong Soo Gyeong... why would he want me?

There are plenty of reasons.

On top of which, you have become known as "the citizens' anchor."

Detective Jo, take him home safely.

And for now, become his bodyguard.

Yes, I understand.

What is going on? Something is going on between and you and Hee Seong, right?

How long are you planning to hide it from me?

So you're saying that he helped Jeong Soo Gyeong escape from Chairman Seo's men?

Hee Seong did that?

That he erroneously interpreted the Chinese word on that tape could be a misunderstanding.

The truth is that as Team Leader Gong was dying

he left behind a conclusive clue.

What?

I heard that bastard's voice from the earphone that Jeong Soo Gyeong dropped.

That voice was... perhaps...?

It was Pied Piper, who controlled all his minions through Jeong Soo Gyeong.

It was Yoon Hee Seong.

Jeong Soo Gyeong? Jeong Soo Gyeong, answer me.

Answer me, Jeong Soo Gyeong!

It must be hard to believe this.

Without evidence, no one will believe it. So until I found clear evidence, I couldn't tell you.

- But... - Would I sell out the late Team Leader Go

just to insist that it was Yoon Hee Seong?

The problem is that Yoon Hee Seong figured out that I suspect him.

So that's why you assigned him a bodyguard, for surveillance.

We have to tie him down and find evidence.

If Hee Seong is really the Pied Piper, wouldn't Mr. Shin in the nursing home know that?

When we went to see him before, he had been trying to tell us Yoon Hee Seong's true identity.

If we go to ask him again, we can find out for sure.

I asked him, and he said he will not meet with you.

Huh? It will only be for a moment.

I'm sorry.

Why would this be? Maybe he doesn't want to think about what happened back then?

Or maybe Mr. Shin wants revenge like Pied Piper?

I've heard that Shin Gyeong Man, Mr. Shin's son,

was reliable and devoted to his father.

No, there is another reason why he is not talking.

- I believe he was probably threatened. - What?

Yoon Hee Seong already knows that we visited Mr. Shin before.

He probably expected that we would come back, and made sure to shut Mr. Shin's mouth.

He may have threatened that he will hurt you, Myeong Ha.

Would Hee Seong really go that far?

He even saved me from that fire.

I want to ask him, too.

The way I feel right now, I would like to capture him immediately and interrogate him about why he is doing these things.

But this punk has been planning all this in exact detail for over 10 years.

If we apprehend him based only on suspicion without proof, we will only be giving him a chance to slip away.

In any case, we've assigned the police to guard him, so it won't be easy for him to make a move.

In order to create another incident, he will need to control Jeong Soo Gyeong.

And in that case, we will catch him at something, somehow.

I came, Ahjussi.

If you had said anything, those two would have died.

Ahjussi, you also don't want Myeong Ha to get hurt, do you?

- Yes? - Nothing is going on that the nursing hospital, right?

Those two people came, but we successfully sent them away.

Next Monday, I plan to use our last minion.

The police is continuing to guard me.

The bag containing materials for our next plan,

take it and deliver it well.

It contains all the important materials, so make sure to carefully guard it.

Please speak.

Yes. [Yong-San. 064 3864]

Don't worry.

I'm gonna catch you, Myeong Ha.

You're fast. Whoa, Myeong Ha.

Myeong Ha.

I've almost caught you.

Oh, Grandpa, please stop Soo Gyeong Oppa.

What is he fooling around with now?

Hey, what are you doing?

Have you gone crazy? Put that away.

Ahjussi, all you have to do is stay quiet.

Put that away now.

You can't. You must not.

No. No!

Are you all right?

[Letters / Yes / Numbers / No]

Press Director. The Open Wanted List was big news for a few days, but interest seems to have died down.

Yes, but keep the lines open, and if you receive any information that seems important, make sure to report it to me right away.

Yes.

Yes, Nurse Lee. What is the matter?

I wanted to ask how you were doing. I didn't call you when you were busy, did I?

No, it's fine.

The patient has improved a lot recently.

Is that so?

I think he's beginning to remember his past.

Oh, I even sent a letter two days ago at his request.

A letter?

Yes. Do you know that lady detective who visited him before?

I didn't know her address, so I sent the letter to the police station.

I believe it will probably arrive today.

May I ask about the content of the letter?

It seemed to be a very ordinary letter of greeting.

As you know, it is difficult for him to write a long letter.

I understand.

Go ahead and finish up the meeting. Excuse me for a moment.

Where are you going?

Let's go together.

What brings you all the way here?

I was worried that everyone was having a tough time because of me.

I appreciate being protected, but it is interfering with my work.

Isn't it time to stop the personal escort?

Oh, I see.

Hey, what did you do wrong?

Oh, it's not because Detective Jo did anything wrong.

Nothing has happened for several days. And no one knows if the threat was even real.

Yes, I see. How about a cup of coffee?

That sounds good.

Go get some coffee.

Let's go outside and talk.

Is it true Jeong Soo Gyeong called you and made the threat?

It's not what you insist?

Well, I'm sure it's not like you confirmed it with Jeong Soo Gyeong directly.

We lacked trust between us?

Aren't you always the one who's doubting me?

In any case, the fact that the Piper's next target is going to be either Chairman or you...

Isn't that clear?

It's not that you want to keep an eye on me?

I don't know why you'd think that way, but

I'm worried for you, Yoon Hee Seong.

Young Il Nursing Home

I understand. I'll get going then.

Wait.

- I'm busy at the moment. - I know.

That's why I'm more curious.

If you're that busy...

you could've called or ask me to meet you.

But you came by the Negotiation Team office personally.

You either had some business at the negotiation team office or you felt as though the police was watching you

so you're hiding something.

At this rate, it's hard to look at it as protection.

Why did you go there that night after visiting Chairman Seo?

Shouldn't you tell me why you were following me first?

You were on your way to rescue Jeong Soo Gyeong.

It's you, right? Yoon Hee Seong.

What?

Piper.

You have evidence?

I'll find it for you.

Young Il Nursing Home

Myeong Ha, are you well?

I'm sorry I couldn't see you then.

I don't have anything more to say.

Don't worry.

When Seong Chan comes back, tell him I'm going to the nursing home.

Nursing home?

I have something to confirm with Shin Ho Chang.

What? What about Shin Ho Chang?

Never mind. I'll tell you after I come back.

Yeo Myeong Ha left for the nursing home.

Father sent a letter to Yeo Myeong Ha.

He can't even move. What did he write?

I'm sure it's not much, but

I'm sure he wanted to say something to her.

Before Yeo Myeong Ha and Joo Seong Chan catch on something,

you must find it and get rid of it.

Can I make my move?

Joo Seong Chan must be suspecting me.

He placed a police watch on me.

Yeo Myeong Ha went to the nursing home right now.

Before she finds something,

go get the letter back.

Okay.

And... do not... hurt Myeong Ha.

Whatever complaints he might throw at you, please watch him carefully.

We're profilers.

This protection... you've got something, huh?

Team Leader Gong died because of me.

Jeong Soo Gyeong that a**hole... I want to catch him myself.

If you do, don't lose Yoon Hee Seong's every move.

He'll approach Yoon Hee Seong somehow.

If you know something, why don't you ever share it with us?

Have you thought about why you failed every time you got dispatched upon getting a report?

The police information is leaking.

We must move quietly until we find that hole.

Please.

I'm not the only one who feels it, right?

Joo Seong Chan and even Yeo Myeong Ha...

They somehow feel as though they're doing their own things, you know...

Right?

Yeah...

Seong Chan, Myeong Ha says...

What? Where?

Just a minute.

Hey, hey!

Hey!

Ugh, you guys...

What the heck!

Our team is being bugged?

I don't know if it's just us or others as well.

No way...

- Get inside. - From here?

I looked to see if we were wired in the office, but nothing was found.

I think we were hacked.

No way, with me there? How dare he...

Where is the letter?

What letter?

You're looking for a wiretap out of the blue...

Myeong Ha goes to the nursing home all of a sudden...

Myeong Ha went to the nursing home?

Oh, right. She told me to tell you that she's going to see Shin Ho Chang.

She said she had something to confirm.

She said something about a letter.

A letter?

I didn't find anything in her car.

You saw the letter, right?

Talk.

It was just a letter saying hello.

Is that all?

There's something. Tell me if you want to live.

There's something. Tell me if you want to live.

I showed it to Seong Chan and he said

there was an evidence hiding there.

What evidence?

The fact that Yoon Hee Seong is the Pied Piper.

Shin ahjussi knows. Aren't I right?

How interesting.

What is that evidence?

While I was going to the nursing home, Seong Chan was going to look into it.

He might've found out by now already.

So, you gave the letter to Joo Seong Chan?

Even if I couldn't, I thought Seong Chan can find something for sure.

It's over for you now.

I'll check it out.

If not, you're dead.

Yes, Myeong Ha.

Seong Chan, did you find it?

What? The thing that was hidden in Shin ahjussi's letter.

Hold on.

Shin Ho Chang...

The letter,

I found it.

Shin Ho Chang, the letter, something to confirm?

Right.

With this, I can put Yoon Hee Seong away.

That's amazing.

You.

- What's that exactly? The crucial evidence. - Why?

- You'd take care of it if I told you? - Yeo Myeong Ha...

You don't care what happens to her?

Listen well.

I just found this evidence just now.

And the police is watching Yoon Hee Seong carefully.

The police doesn't know Yoon Hee Seong's identity, but the minute I reveal this card...

it's over for him.

If you kill Yeo Myeong Ha, you'll ruin the entire plan with your own hands.

So.

If you let Myeong Ha go, I'll hand over the evidence.

- You saw it though. - Then...

I'll turn myself over as well.

Instead,

if you touch the hair on Yeo Myeong Ha,

the deal is off.

Deal...

Do you think you have any other choice?

I'll give you one hour. Come alone.

Don't do anything stupid. I have a way to find out.

Not much movement from the police yet.

Ugh, it's hard to hack from the outside.

I can find it easily from the office.

You can't. We must find out through which route and how far we're being watched.

We can't let anyone know before we find out.

What will you do to Seong Chan?

Are you worried?

Don't you know what happened to all those people because of that bastard?

Your father who was begging to spare his life...

Those bastards knocked him over and burned him to death.

And your mother! Gyeong Man hyung!

- Including my sister... - Stop! I know!

Listen carefully.

You think I've been brainwashed by that man.

But it's the opposite. Oh Jeong Hak is the one who deceived you and brainwashed you!

The one with the problem isn't me, it's you.

- Don't you think so? - That man?

Who is Yoon Hee Seong to you?

He... he brought me back to life.

Even if I have to give up my life...

He gave me a goal I must achieve.

Yoon Hee Seong is a victim, too, right?

That's why he's doing all this!

You want to get some information out of me?

Of course, you're nothing but an obstacle.

The way he looked at you...

I never liked it.

When you tried to kill me, why did Yoon Hee Seong rescue me?

That's what I'm saying.

We'll stop chatting here and I should go welcome Joo Seong Chan.

Don't do this.

This isn't time for you to worry over someone else.

You know his identity.

I could've let you go alive if you didn't know, but sorry...

I can't help it.

If she was kidnapped on her way to the nursing home, it's definitely...

Myeong Ha...

Where is the letter? Where?

Myeong Ha, are you doing well...

Come to think of it, why isn't it on a letterhead but on this...

Yongsan D64-3854?

It looks like he obtained the sarin gas and the mask through the locker.

Where are you going?

I have to start getting ready for the news.

Let's go together.

Yes let's do that.

I forgot my files.

I'll be right back...

please hold on to the elevator.

I'll be right back.

It's almost time.

I can kill Yeo Myeong Ha, right?

I'm sure you're not asking for my permission. I think you know better yourself that you shouldn't kill her.

You know better.

Are you bluffing? You have nothing at all.

Why did you pick such a location?

You'll kill me and Yeo Myeong Ha both once you have the evidence in your hands.

- Change the location. - Playing around stops here. I'll say...

your last goodbye to her.

Yongsan Station D64. The bag inside the locker.

I have it now.

I'll repeat.

If you touch a hair on Yeo Myeong Ha's body...

the deal is off.

Pied Piper

If I see any trace of that being opened or damaged...

Yeo Myeong Ha is dead.

You should give up on the though of killing both of us and getting the briefcase.

If anyone gets hurts, the briefcase will be handed to the police.

- The street smarts... - Did you have fun playing with me?

- There's nothing that can serve as evidence. - Confess.

Do you want the truth?

It's not... me.

The reason you're rushing into the final plan is...

He's coming here to kill me?

Only the weak ones who can't punish can forgive.
