"Love Is All"

"Episode 8"

"Romantic fireworks and Zhu Da Cong comes from afar"

Qi Hui's murder case...

must be reported to the Capital and be investigated.

But...

See for yourself.

Here.

This is indeed the Golden Jade Seal from the Imperial Spokesman.

But...

I remember now.

I have work to be done back at the District Bureau.

I have to leave first.

No!

District Aide Zhou.

What brings the Imperial Spokesman here?

What exactly is going on here?

I know what's going on.

His Majesty assigned Imperial Inspection Unit across the land.

But how did they find out about our deal?

The officer did mention.

The Imperial Spokesman is furious.

If you don't play by the rules, he will interrogate you.

But we...

Does this mean there is no room for us...

to negotiate any further?

Is this game over for us?

My daughter!

-Supernumerary Qi? -In-law?

What happened to you? Wake up!

What do we do now?

It seems like...

I won't be able to save my own skin.

-Just go! -After you, Sir.

Sir, don't go!

Hold on, about that job offering for my son,

is it still on the table?

Master Tang is backing out!

My poor daughter!

-Where is that corrupted officer? -Corrupted officer?

You mean Master Tang?

Who else could it be?

He took bribe money.

If it wasn't for the decree of the Imperial Spokesman,

he would have got away with the money.

I got him red-handed this time.

But he didn't get away with the money after all.

Preceptor Tan,

how could you be so naive?

What do you mean?

Master Tang wants me to pass a message.

The bet is placed, there is no running away from it.

Tang Fei Long! You tricked me!

Oh no!

The Preceptor is trying to take her own life!

Someone, save her!

Help!

Come on! Save her!

We are here to save her!

Preceptor, watch out!

Don't worry for something that won't kill you.

This height won't be enough to kill her anyway.

Great!

Great!

Great!

Great!

Master Tan, bad news. Preceptor Tan is trying to take her own life.

Preceptor, you need to calm down.

Whether it's a crisis for your career,

or a huge debt you owe,

or even your relationship crisis,

We are all willing to help you out.

Preceptor Tan, if Master Tang mistreated you in any way,

you could file an anonymous report to the higher-up.

Don't be reckless.

Preceptor Tan, may I know what is your purpose up there?

You are asking the obvious.

Perhaps you should come down and we can talk this through.

-Fine. -Would you dare to come down?

Sister!

Listen up, Tang Fei Long.

You are done for. I told you not to pick on her.

She is going to shame you in front of everyone.

Master Tang...

is handsome and striking, charming and endearing.

You are a wise detective.

You live up to the name of a prodigy.

I was wrong about you in the past.

I had mistaken you for some lowlife.

I had nothing better to do than to cause you trouble.

I hope you would look past my mistakes...

and forgive me for my actions. Thank you.

You are a man of great tolerance and capacity.

You have a sense of justice.

I admit you are better than I am.

I didn't hear that!

You are better than I am!

-Sister! -Preceptor!

This is too mushy for my eyes.

What are you staring at? Get down.

I hate you.

You've been laughing the whole day.

Just spill it if you have a question.

Tell me about it.

When did you and Preceptor Tan start the relationship?

What relationship?

For someone as bad-tempered as her,

you need to impress her so she acknowledges you.

Will you show me how it's done?

My Preceptor acknowledges my rank,

isn't that part of her duty?

All right, back to business.

I didn't offend the higher-up,

and I didn't offend the local tycoons.

And we managed to deal with the culprit of murder case.

I consider this mission completed.

But every step we take in the future...

should include extra cautions.

We should celebrate our victory.

They enemy had the advantage over us.

But after this feat,

all those shady dealings and the men behind them...

will become clear targets for us to strike.

Our mighty Master Tang...

managed to secure his job...

and won the Preceptor's heart.

I commend you for the achievement.

Keep it on the low.

"Tongling District Bureau"

"I have received the report. Signed: Tang Tian Yuan"

Tang Tian Yuan the Imperial Spokesman is here.

Commissioner Zheng!

Preceptor, I am in a hurry.

I am in a hurry too. Commissioner Zheng.

I am a guy, I can't hold it.

I am woman but I can hold off the yearning to see the man.

Tang Tian Yuan is all the way in The Capital.

You won't see him here even if you stop me at the toilet.

If he is visiting Tongling as Imperial Spokesman,

He won't be here just for Qi Hui's case.

He will be here again.

Will you please introduce me to him?

You mean unless I tell you the way,

you won't let me use the toilet?

Fine, I'll explain it to you now.

Master Tang came up with this plan...

to win the trust of Sun family...

so they could retain their status here in Tongling.

He used his rank as the Imperial Spokesman...

to exact justice and cull the corruption.

Does that clear things up for you?

So this was his plan all along.

So silly! Tang Ling Yin you are so silly!

Sir?

-I have something... -I need to tell...

I should go first. Ladies first.

I am sorry I misunderstood you for taking bribe money.

I apologize.

What did Commissioner Zheng tell you?

No, I forced him to tell me,

to introduce me to Tang Tian Yuan.

So he had no choice but to tell me.

But you have my word I will not tell another soul.

I understand the gravity of this matter.

The imperial decree was a fake.

This is more serious than copying lines from a mere fan.

If Tang Tian Yuan ever finds out,

you might get executed.

Zheng Shao Feng should have minded his tongue.

This isn't his fault.

People shouldn't suspect each other for no reason.

I was being reckless.

You are too stubborn.

Why would I ever set you up?

Why wouldn't you accept others' kindness?

Why bother going through the troubles?

This is how my life is.

Right.

What was it you were trying to say?

I should have told you the plan.

I am sorry.

You are sorry?

The high and mighty Master Tang is apologizing to me!

I need to celebrate this with a decent dinner!

You want to celebrate this? I'll take you to a place.

Sure, let's go.

Sir, do you think there is fish in this river?

Sure, there are plenty of them.

If you dump a body down there,

it will be eaten to bone in two hours.

Have I ever told you...

that I knew you were different the moment we first met.

So...

you poured the foot bath on me?

It was an accident.

I mean...

after spending some time working with you,

I find you brave and intelligent,

your skill as detective is on par with Tang Tian Yuan.

So?

So...

your right-hand man matters just as much.

Such as Zheng Shao Feng and I.

What do you think about the moon tonight?

It's beautiful.

But you can't reach the moon.

A mooncake is much better.

There are no stars either.

Rabbit lantern.

They look so pretty.

Is this sincere enough as a token of apology?

Yes, it is.

You are forgiven.

Just like that?

Actually, I should be apologizing.

You are merely a rank eight officer going against local tycoons.

The odds are against you.

The odds are against me?

You don't understand the meaning?

They are more powerful than you are,

a weak like you bumps into them...

You are the fool here.

I was furious when you took the gold from those men.

I didn't know who to trust anymore.

Do you trust me now?

We enjoyed the moonlight and the rabbit lanterns.

Can we go now?

Hold on.

It hasn't started yet.

Firework! They look so brilliant!

You prepared this?

Yes.

Preceptor.

You always wanted to know...

if the scenes from novels would actually come true.

Have you fallen for my charm?

What? I am not so easily tricked.

What about you?

I am not in love with you.

Which means all those stories from the novels...

are nothing but made up. Stop talking them.

I don't want them to affect our works at the District Bureau.

Master! You are awake.

Er Zhu?

-Yes, it's me! -I sent you three months ago,

how did you manage to turn yourself into a beggar?

I was told that after Miss Tan settled in the Capital,

she went to Tongling afterwards.

So we rushed back here without any halt.

But who would have thought?

Before we even reached Tongling,

we ran into a bunch of bandits.

Those bandits were heartless!

-They robbed me and... -All right.

Get to the point. Where is my bride?

She is right in Tongling.

Well done, Er Zhu.

Nicely done. This time,

we will surely find my bride in Tongling.

-Move out. -Have a look around!

Have a look around!

Leather for sale!

"Tianxiang Inn"

Who are you?

This place is sealed off by the District Bureau.

Authorized personnels only.

So what are you doing here?

I am...

Even the property of the state...

will need maintenance.

One tael of silver and I will clean every inch of this place.

So the Tianxiang Inn...

has been completely confiscated?

Master, do you need housekeeping?

I know Sang Jie is dead.

But I will wake him up from his grave to get my money back.

I won't bother your great endeavour.

Hold on.

Where are you going?

I am leaving.

Perhaps I could offer you a better job.

My pal,

the moment I see you,

I felt like we've met each other for years.

Will you accept the offer to become my godchild?

That doesn't sound right. Just follow me and make a fortune.

What do you think? Follow me across the land,

make a fortune and enjoy luxuries in life.

How does that sound?

-That sounds good. -What is your name?

I am Er Tong.

That is a great name!

You should know,

every time I waited for my call in a mahjong game,

"Er Tong" is what I lack.

-Over here! -Have a look around!

Master, the job is done.

Where is my reward?

We haven't sold a single item and you are asking for reward?

If I were any brighter,

I would be more than just an errand boy.

Do you see the two platforms?

What about them?

Bring me the best dancers of Tongling.

The better the grandeur, the better it is.

I want all the instruments as well.

There's no way this show won't attract the attention of these peasants.

And after you lured them out?

Put on an auction if someone is buying.

raise the price for three rounds and stop.

Any who wants to show off in front of the dancers...

will surely fall for our scheme.

Master, you are so cunning.

Get on with it.

Sure.

At this rate,

will I ever find my bride?

Eat your food, stop staring.

Father sent us a letter. Everything is fine at home.

What's fine? With his mistress?

But Zhu Da Cong won't cancel the engagement.

He insists on finding you no matter the cost.

Doesn't he get tire of this?

We can't hide here forever.

I wonder if Master Tang has any bright idea.

From what I see,

this workplace is drawing too much attention and words will get out.

Zhu Da Cong might get wind of us.

We should leave while we can.

Lady!

Lady!

Lady!

Lady!

Hold on.

Lady!

-Look! -They are gorgeous!

Nice dance!

-Well done. -Indeed, they are gorgeous.

That is true.

This is nice to watch.

Great!

She disappeared into thin air.

-Such a beautiful dance. -We will watch again later.

Let's go inside.

We will be sure to visit here later.

Look, there is another dancer!

-She is beautiful! -She outshines the other!

Nice!

What does the girl in the middle look like?

-Nice dance! -Their dance is mesmerizing.

This is nice.

She is like dancing goddess.

-She is beautiful. -Nice dance!

She already has my heart.

-Great! -This is nice.

That's right.

Stay!

Great!

Great!

All right, stop dancing.

Lady!

Lady!

What is all the fuss about?

Please, gentleman.

You are born with a handsome look.

Thanks. I am here for...

Which of our dancers won your heart?

The girl in the white dress.

The girl in the white dress? Please have patience.

Have a look at my potteries here.

These? I am buying all of them.

Such a generous gentleman!

That's very generous of you.

Er Tong, make a bill for him.

Wait! Let me see her first!

-I'll pay once I've seen her! -250 taels!

-This way, come with me. -Stop pushing me!

Preceptor.

Good morning.

Good morning.

Did you have your dinner?

I did.

What about you?

I had a bun, some soy milk, a cake and a boiled egg.

That's all.

It's not that much.

Sir!

Preceptor.

A man came to Tianxiang Inn.

He tore down the seals...

and he is putting the items inside on auction.

Should I arrest him now?

Who has the audacity for that? Let's go.

-Go and have a look. -But...

Er Tong.

Is this Miao Miao Sheng...

a man from Tongling?

Yes. She is also the new Preceptor in town.

Who would have thought?

She is out of my reach...

yet she is right before me.

-Look! -Great!

It's being reopened.

Sir, look. Is there a new owner?

There shouldn't be one.

All the people mentioned on the ledger...

have been investigated.

It seems like...

this man is some sort of big shot.

Great!

I'll have a look.

Who are you?

My bride?

Zhu Da Cong?

Why are you here?

It really is you!

It's you!

-My bride! -Master.

Bride?

Sir, what do we do now?

Let's head back to the District Bureau.

Come.

Sister, stop walking around.

You are making me dizzy.

Then stop looking at me.

I must walk to distract myself.

How is the conversation between Master Tang and Zhu Da Cong?

Master Tang came back before they even have a conversation.

Why is that?

Last month, a neighbour from the north wing complained that...

Madam Zhou's daughter was picking off her plants...

who then gave birth to a son and held a banquet.

They sent Master Tang some red eggs...

and the eggs are going bad unless we eat them now.

Does that sound like a convincing reason to you?

Master Tang should have enough time to consider your relationship...

with Zhu Da Cong.

How did he manage to find me?

There is no way the Governor of Jinan...

could find out we are hiding in Tongling.

Zhu Da Cong is obsessed with you.

But you ran away from the engagement.

Who knows if he hates you now...

or is he still madly in love with you?

Qing Chen.

That is not what love means.

Is that clear?

What's wrong with me running away from the marriage?

I have a rightful reason to do so.

I will never marry a man I don't love.

I want him to know that he and I...

are never going to be a couple.

How do you wake someone who is living in fantasy?

-It's hot! -Sister!

If we can't wake him up from the fantasy,

we'll pour the hot water on his head.

It was burning hot!

Reasons of men are nothing but nonsense to us women.

I will deal with you with my wits.

What do you want?

What was that for?

Zhu Da Cong!

Pretentious jerk.

Give me back my scallion!

Sir this is my engagement agreement with my bride.

Now that you've read it, I need your wise judgement.

We finished the first part of the wedding ceremony.

We just need to be pronounced a couple.

Please allow my bride to withdraw from her duty as the Preceptor...

so we could finish the wedding ceremony.

Zhu Da Cong!

I should have your head for this!

You have no right to have me quit my job.

My bride.

In our society, a woman should just stay at home.

Besides, the salary here is meagre.

Why bother working so hard and settle for so little?

Yes, I should work.

You mentioned before that you wanted to be a writer.

I can buy your company.

You may write your books whenever you want.

Perhaps you could write it at home, what do you think?

I don't need you! Just leave!

Fine, I look forward to the Magistrate's judgement.

Will the engagement agreement be effective immediately?

Effective?

Here is your effect!

My bride, we are in the public. Mind your manner.

I think I understand Master Zhu's request.

But you tore down the seal off that inn,

you put the items on auction without my permission.

-Do you plea guilty? -Do you plea guilty?

Name your price.

My family...

will pay you whatever the price.

Guards!

Drag this rich and arrogant young man outside...

and grant him 15 hard beatings!

Order and silence.

Master Tang.

I am actually...

is the son of the Governor.

Are you going to beat me?

Does it matter if you are the son of Governor?

You tore down the seal without permission.

And most importantly you were trying to bribe me.

You should be grateful I am not giving you 50 beatings.

Dismiss.

Master Zhu, this way.

My bride, wait for me.

-Wise judgement. -Let's go.

Brother Zhou?

Why do you look so upset today?

I almost go her.

Is anyone capable of escaping you?

If a man lost his love,

how does he get it back?

Preceptor,

tell me the truth.

It's all because of my stepmother.

She wanted to please the rich and powerful.

She even wanted to chase me out because I am not her daughter.

She sold me to Zhu Da Cong.

Sir, can I terminate the agreement?

Technically, the agreement is legally effective.

He can report against your parents to the District Bureau for your action.

But he insists on marrying you.

That means he really loves you.

But this marriage is nothing more than a business deal.

I was never told about the situation.

I have an idea. Keep this secret for me.

I will pack my belongings and return home, okay?

Where else can you go?

What else can I do? Nothing works!

I have no choice but to marry that man!

It does seem that way.

I am such a fool.

I was hoping for you to solve this crisis for me.

What would you do if your parents marry you to a woman you don't love?

Of course you would accept it.

It's normal for men to have many lovers.

You could always marry more.

You don't understand my pain.

My bride, you finally came out.

I've been waiting for ages.

Tell me, how did you find me?

Keep fanning.

The heaven's will led me to you.

We are destined to be together.

Unscrupulous businessman.

You used your father's power to sell fake goods,

now you want to dominate Tongling as well?

My bride, you are right.

I can't rely on my father forever.

Which is why I left Jinan.

Tongling is my first step to becoming successful.

Which fool of Tongling bought your fake goods?

Sang Jie did.

That reminds me of how mad I was! He was even more cunning than I am.

I sold a fake Luminous Jade.

And he paid me with fake gold!

Should I not come asking to a proper payment?

Fake gold?

By that you mean impure gold?

Correct.

My bride, do you wish to know the truth?

Come closer to me and I will tell you.

You are sick.

Then I shall go closer to you.

Get it done.

Take it easy.

My bride, those are mere money.

They don't matter to me. What does matter...

is that we go home together as a loving couple.

Get lost.

One more thing, my bride.

Just because you changed my name...

to Zhu Da Suan in your novels,

doesn't mean I won't recognize the character.

My books have nothing to do with you.

Since you've read the novels,

you should know by now what kind of man I like.

I will make everything clear with you.

Zhu Da Cong, I will never marry a man like you...

who only enjoys luxuries and doesn't know to settle down!

My bride, you can't say that to your husband.

Have some compassion. I am injured from all the beatings.

Who was that for?

Besides that, if you don't marry me, I can't settle down with you.

Fan at my bottom, I told you so.

Am I right?

Tan Ling Yin, listen.

You are mine.

Curse you!

Curse you!

-Help! -Only Tang Fei Long can say that!

Stop staring, after her.

My bride!

-I... -I see you as my close friend.

But...

you lied to me.

you are in love with her too?

Stop pretending.

This handkerchief...

belongs to the girl in white dress.

-She gave it to you? -For me?

This wasn't for you?

-Did you steal it? -Yes!

The girl gave it to me.

Do you have any idea...

how long I've searched for her?

I can't stop thinking about her.

But you've only met her once.

Once?

That's enough to win my heart.

Since you love her just as much,

please return this to the girl for me.

Take it.

Commissioner Zheng.

You must have misunderstood.

Ru Yi and I...

Ru Yi?

She is my younger sister.

By sister you mean...

My mother is her aunt.

Really?

This is great news!

I get it now!

That's why you two look so alike.

You are actually cousins.

-This is great, Brother Zhou. -Commissioner Zheng.

Commissioner Zheng.

Then I should keep this instead.

What are you trying to do?

Cousin.

I am going to be your cousin-in-law.

Commissioner Zheng, put me down!

This means "one, two".

-This means "three, four". -My bride?

I added the Miao Sheng Parlour...

to the guest list for our wedding.

Once you are married to me,

you get to have better reputation in your family.

Get it away. I don't want it.

We have a plan to visit the lake.

I don't have the time.

Go on your own.

We can row a boat together.

I told you I don't have the time!

My bride, if you won't do what I want,

I will file a report to the District Bureau.

Go ahead.

It's not like I wouldn't dare.

Ba Ba, now it's your time to shine.

Get him!

Get him!

-Stop chasing me! -Now you are scared of me!

Nicely done.

Investigating a case?

I haven't seen our adorable Preceptor today.

Who would have thought? She is engaged.

You should grab the chance while you can.

She might be lost for good.

Don't be absurd!

Tan Ling Yin will never fall in love with her fiance.

Of course it's possible.

He came all the way from Jinan.

His persistence must not be underestimated.

And trust me,

the odds are against you when she is being wooed.

If he doesn't give up,

she will be touched eventually.

And ultimately she will fall for her.

Also...

What should I do now?
