Hey there you are this is book
my book. I'm Johnny you for a

time of Bible study in the book
of Proverbs. You may be on your

own. You may be in a group of
people. you may be in a big

hole look at the screen
wherever we want to help each

other in this and I'm joined by
Paul Blackham here and also by

George Vaa, who's our
celebrated and special guest

today from Operation
Mobilization, which she founded

and we're actually in his place
sitting in the Quinta Christian

Center. England exciting It's

We've done that yet Paul but we

might we might do you guys a
little slow, but it's okay Well

friends. What we're doing is
now we're coming to study

number four in Proverbs type of
theme today. Chapters 10 to 12

is really how that the Sun and
by which we mean really Christ

brings joy to his father and
read First Chapter 10 verses

one to five. The Proverbs of
Solomon, a wise son, brings joy

to his father, but a foolish
son grief to his mother. It all

got treasures are of no value,
but righteousness delivers from

death. The Lord does not let
the righteous go hungry, but he

thought they're craving of the
wicked. lazy hands make a man

poor, but diligent hands bring
wealth. He got his crops in

summer is a wise son, but he
was sleeps during. Is a

disgraceful some, so that's the
theme look at all of Chapter

10. We learn how a wise son
brings joy to his father and as

a poll that we're looking here
well, the Proverbs that come

directly now from Solomon, many
of them do anyway. He has a

special set from him. How does
the book change at all at this

point? and how do we deal with
this small? What kind of

riddles and sayings that
Salomon gives his readers?

Yeah, I think he's so. In the
in chapters, one to nine, it

may even be David teaching
Solomon that father to his son

like that and all the way
through. but on those first

nine chapters, what we're
getting is not so much all

these little instructions like
do this and don't do that

things. but it's more about the
big context of wisdom. Why

should you love wisdom and
what's wisdom like and you know

he? he's he's wing our hearts
to wisdom in those first nine

chapters, a big vision of what.
Everything shows wisdom and

wisdom written in at the
foundation of creation and all

this sort of thing and then
when we get to this point, it's

taking that big context, a huge
vision of wisdom and the

attractiveness of wisdom and
now coming down to these

hundreds of applications of
wisdom to all the different

areas of life and that's so
there's a big deep context of

wisdom and now the application of wisdom.
but what's so good

is the called these parables or riddle's.
Proverbs and it's the

same word that's used really
when Jesus teaches in Parables

and it's a word that means cuz
like we talked about parallel

lines things that go alongside
each other. It's one thing is

like another one. This is like
that you remember the Lord

Jesus himself has this wisdom
teaching all the way through

his teaching Ministry. He'll
say the Kingdom of Heaven is

like this and or in in in the
prodigal son. All these things

are where he takes a story or a
truth or an everyday occurrence

or just some feature of the
natural world and he say, look

at that now understand this and
a deep truth. This thing is

like this thing. so all the way
through this proverbs you can

read them at a very superficial
level if you wish and see only

a certain level of truth, but
each of them contains deep

profound truth. It's a bit with
the he S ears to hear. let me

just like the power was Jett,
just like the power is. There's

a thing that we can see quite
easily ill-gotten treasures of

no value, but righteousness
delivers from death so everyone

could see worthless treasures
are you know if you if you've

stolen goods, they're not
really very marketable and

everyone can see that. But can
you see that righteousness

delivers from death? That's a
profound truth. That's a

alongside the simple truth so
that sometimes they come first

sometimes second things that
the point is that what's to

meditate on these things and
take them into life. Oh. Let's

move on then because actually
we've invested into Georges

because work here features as
it did in the region. Verses

four and five wealth comes up.
Chapter 11. verse. four words

come up as a third W there in
Chapter 10, verse 10 and 11,

where the contrast is made. Do
you see between a chattering

full and the mouth of the
righteous as a fountain of life

What extent can words be the

key to wisdom and true wealth?

So again, the Lord just dealt
with me through all these

verses about the sins of the
tongue and just broke me and

and yet I failed, I feel as I
look back in my life. Some of

the greatest failures, unkind
words to my wife, not thought

through unkind words at board
meetings praise the Lord. I

have 11 years now out of all
that so life's a little easier

in the last 11 years, but I
remember Peter Maid who became

the director of O M after me
phony me once and said. It's

important meeting you really
offended that board member do

you think you might want to
phone him? So that's always a

humbling experience to repent
and apologize for your cutting

words. But if God hadn't
transformed me and he used this

book, I think I would have just
been disqualified from leading

OM, which I did 46 years. I
think I would have been

disqualified in the early days
because I had that combination

of quick tongue and also
struggle with the. You know,

irritability and temper, and so
I just again urge people to

memorize some of these
scriptures and to just be more

careful in every way, Allan
Redd pass said. When you get

upset, do anything wiggle your
ears wiggle your toes. Remember

Allan Redmon just open your
mouth and you just don't open

your mouth. It's what somebody
wants to call the buckets

principle that when there's a
conflict going on Agra starts

up in a discussion, you can
either have gasoline and pour

it on. Or you can put on water
to cool it down. You can be

either so 11 goes on to feature
the qualities what the New

Testament would describe as the
fruit produced, but as we put

t by following Jesus
righteousness humility

integrity, so you see us one
Chapter 11. The accuracy of

weights and scales is linked to
verse four wealth as he puts it

on the day of the prosperity of
the city of a wicked man's the

What wisdom actually holds all
that together, you know, I

think it's really because one
of the verses that I was taught

to me when I was a little boy
or a little sections. So it's

in Ephesians, six and five to
eight where Paul is safe. It's

applying all that and he says,
Look slaves. obey your earthly

Masters with respect and fierce
and sincerity of heart. Just as

you would obey Christ obey them
not only to win their favor

When the eye is on you but like
slaves of Christ doing the will

of God from your heart serve
iheart. As if you were serving

the Lord not man because you
know that the Lord will reward

everyone for whatever good, he
does. So why I think that's

important is it's that sense of
all of life. Whether it's your

next door. neighbor your
colleague at work the way you

wa things in your business
practices. everything you do.

whether you're peeling the
potatoes doing the washing-up

parking your car doing your
shopping. Everything must have

that. Hagerty of Christ, One of
the commentators said there

must be the fragrance of Christ
about everything that you do so

that in everything as it says
in Corinthians everything to

the glory of God. so Proverbs
is saying every little thing

that you're doing Let that
wisdom of Christ did everything

in such a way that his father
said in him, I well pleased

everything he does thrills my
heart as the father and why is

that so everything that Jesus
did he's carpentry. The way he

ate the way he greeted people
the way he noticed the little

children was the disciples
ignored the kids. you know I

forget the kids are important.
Jesus knew about them. The

people that eat everything he
bothered about and that is the

integrity of wisdom. Everything
matters because everything is

to the glory of God. We got one
thing we gotta do is to remind

our friends who are sharing
with us in this study about the

study guide that you put
together for. We're very

grateful that you're doing it
all the.

Shown most in the first 30 here
describes as the winning of

souls that his wise, how come
winning souls be the greatest

investment. Well, that's one of
my favorite verses must be, and

I think it is a great a great
sorrow today that so many

Christians no longer are
sharing their faith for you

know, especially in Europe.
This often hostility and

surveys have shown. That a
large number of Christians

don't share their faith and
here we have this little nugget

even back in Proverbs and
endless verses in the New

Testament. There are many ways
to share faith. I'm asking

people to become extroverts if
they're more shy temperament

and today, surveys also seem to
show a lot of Christians are

not having hardly any
conversations with

non-christians at all, They're
living like in a little church

ghetto talking to each other
and having all kinds of

Christian events and then we go
on Christian holidays and

Christian tours. I'm not saying
there's no place for that, but

surely the. Needs to be more
outreach by the way. Don't miss

one of my favorite verses there
it just must look at Chapter 11

Verse 22. This is a dedicated
to the women like a gold ring

and a pig snout. Is there any
sense of humor in the Bible

Gold ring and a pink now is a
beautiful woman who shows no

discretion? What I over
emphasis in our culture on

beauty, I know I fall for it.
You know a beautiful woman and

that's God's creation. But
without wisdom and so many

women listening to us, don't
just work for wisdom. go to the

body shop and buy all your
different things wisdom from

the book of Proverbs God. We
need women are often wiser than

men and probably married to
one. So I just love that verse

and you know the highlight
verse in the whole of Proverbs

for me is actually 16 and verse
12. Look at that full show and

At once, but prudent and
insult, I'll tell you God dealt

with me. have you ever been
preaching and somebody that's a

friend. You can tell they're
annoyed with what you're

saying. Oh, yeah. boy. I get
this first but and so easily we

do get annoyed with people. We
should keep that in our heart

and deal with it not show them
you know that were annoyed be

patient. Listen to person.
Believe the best I just love

that memorize that verse full

been a fool and I thank Jesus
for changing me in this area.

though I'm not in the prudent

we how are the people with us
today? How are you doing it

That's radical grace. I mean it
is so stine when these things

happen and that we are actually
prepared, you know. Coming to

Chapter 12 verse seven sum it
up. I think that the House of

the righteous stands firm the
righteous can't be rooted verse

three listens verse 15 to
advice is careful in

friendships verse 20 - six. So
who or what is The Who or what

is the root of the righteous
and verse 12? Yeah the root of

the righteous. I love that idea
because the foolish person is

shallow is only very
short-term agenda once. Now in

this life and wants to be
popular now beautiful in the on

the shallow superficial level
and all the rest of it. I want

vengeance someone's wrong me-I
want vengeance now, Where is

the roots of the righteous that
is to abiding Christ? So I love

that where Jesus says, Look. If
you abide in me, then you'll be

fruit. So it's you need roots
that go down into Christ into

the He's the wisdom of God.
He's the Lord God when I this

is. Book by to the roots of the
righteous, I'm I read something

about him nearly every day, but
this book I've been so enjoying

the roots of the righteous and
though I love on the cover,

they've got a man in his roots
are going deep into the air and

Jesus ended the sermon on the
mount with that story of the

wise and foolish builders. The
foolish builder No foundations.

It's all his House collapses as
soon as this trouble the wisest

man deep foundations in the
rock why because he obeyed he

didn't. Here to teach you
Jesus, he obeyed the teaching

of Jesus. Yeah, but still in
Chapter 12 friends, I got a

question for Paul really often
we do see the unrighteous

prosper. Yeah, we see Wicked
man in charge of governments

that don't fall. I mean, maybe
when they're like 90 years of

age, how do we explain the fact
that unrighteous people at

times, they really seem to be
prospering. Some of them seem a

lot wiser than. Our Christian
friends, oh no good answer for

that. well, No I agree with
that and first of all you know

you want an answer. Yeah. I'm
gonna give it to you. Yeah. no.

Of course you know we are. we
are ourselves do foolish things

that bring about hormones our
own. Yeah. Well. I just mean no

okay. That's incredible. isn't
it the whole body The book of

Psalms point out cuz the book
of Psalm in a way we do want

this. The We want the wicked to
be destroyed immediately and we

want the right to flourish and.
And in the book of Psalms,

there's so much of that with
the psalmist goes, I see the

wicked and they're doing so
well and those righteous were

suffering so much. I can't cope
with this lord. Why aren't you

managing life properly? Why
aren't you covering the real

property? and then you remember
that the summer goes, but hang

on what's the end point? What's
the ultimate outcome of all

this? Yeah, the wicked might do
well for a few years. Joe's

struggled with it too, But then
he goes no the wicked okay.

They do well for a few years
some of them 40 years. The

years Yeah, and that seems a
long time doesn't it well Like

Us ridiculous 4050 years.
That's nothing. That's your all

caught up with this whole
kingdom in Jesus name. I'm

working on that. I'm working on
that. I'm working on that 40 to

50 years seems a long time to
us, but I think the Lord say

that's nothing. It's just a
whisper of smoke. A whole lives

are just a whisper of smoke
here today, gone tomorrow and

we see the wicked and they seem
to prosper for ages. But in the

in the view of the living God
in eternity, They have no

prosperity. It's got no. Sting
validity and as he said the

House falls down straight away,
whereas the righteous they go

on and on brighter and brighter
Was'. That's also told by our

prayers not to bury the wicked
before to before time. that's

still a chance that they may
turn. so if you get them to

consign them to a pit too soon
and we can't do that very good.

There's still time for for
things to change. but listen

why don't we here? We are in
Chapter 12 about the fruit of

our lives that. Reveals really
who we are so that would well.

It's like Matthew seven to
seven on the mountain about the

bad tree that always produces a
bad fruit. A good tree that

produces good fruit. How much
is revealed by the way we treat

the let's look at it verse 10.
We're leaving the animal

Kingdom or how we handle the
truth, First, 19 and 22 verse

27. How we handle a valued
possessions. Georges speak just

last week before we wind up

Righteous and seem to be doing
the right thing. even in the

past year, they've been
slaughtered in Northern

Nigeria. Some of them are
trying to get to their church

on Sunday and so I think it's
so important for all of us

trying to take in the whole of
the word of God to get that

balance of truth and there are
other verses, especially in the

New Testament in the Old as
well that just bring some of

this into into greater
understanding. So it doesn't

end up discouraging us or
confusing us and that that is

really helped me in my bottles.
Because I had the tendency

young Christian to go to
extremes, you know I found

except for forsake all that you
have. you can't be my disciple

and I was hitting people with a
forsake all message and some of

them. I don't think ever
recovered. Fortunately, my wife

did and because I got her to
sell pretty well everything she

had. and then I saw Oh my God
will supply all of your needs,

according to his riches and
glory by Christ Jesus. So I

encourage people when they hit
a verse that doesn't seem to

add up to keep studying and
look at other scriptures that

bring it into greater. It's
been a huge help for me and you

know going through this book
and this book going through me.

It's wonderful that Scripture
interprets Scripture. Yeah.

strong sort of Steadiness about

well actually when I think of
William Wilberforce that man

through whom the slave trade
was abolished, are you met him?

No no not yet, but yeah, but
we're moving for. I mean he was

timid shy not much to look at
when he was young and they

called him a shrimp. He was a
shrimp of a man then as he got

older.
