Original subtitles

If you must prove...

your love...

No!

To you, love is...

just a low-down obsession where you threaten her...

using your life as an excuse.

Ma Ri.

Let's leave this place.

(Episode 35: I'm Sending My Message to You)

We reached out our hands...

and finally held each other's hands.

We needed...

desperate courage...

to bud through rough soil.

Do you want me to bring your wife back?

- It's not too late. - Right.

It's not too late...

to be someone even worse.

To ruin everything.

Once everything is destroyed,

Let's see what's left.

It's from President Kang.

Let's just go.

Don't go too far.

You'll have to come back anyway.

Mother.

It's Ma Ri.

Call her name.

Ma Ri.

Ma Ri.

Ma Ri!

Ma Ri.

Where are you going when your mother is here?

I can't go with you.

Ma Ri.

I can't...

leave my mom here.

Ma Ri.

Ma Ri!

Ma Ri!

Ma Ri!

Get off me.

Mom, are you all right?

See?

I said you'd come back.

How could you use my mom?

Just...

stay with me. Just like you did before.

Like your mom with dementia.

Forget everything...

and stay with me.

I will lay down my life...

to take care of you.

Why are you being so scary?

Mom, it's okay. Everything's fine.

Ma Ri!

She must've been...

so desperate.

Her hands...

were holding mine...

so passionately and heavily.

A new caregiver is coming tomorrow.

I want to...

take better care of her.

And you will feel better that way.

I told you to stay away from my mom.

You...

broke your promise.

It's you who broke a promise.

You left me...

holding his hands.

You threatened me with a gun.

I just did it to hold you and to make you stay.

I had to.

Don't you see it?

This is...

against the law.

As if threatening and confining me isn't enough, you need my mother?

No.

I don't know anything else...

but the fact...

that you're here with me.

What's love?

It's staying with each other...

just like this.

Don't you think so?

I don't love you.

- What? - I...

don't...

love you.

I know.

I'm aware of that.

Don't say that again.

Never again.

- I... - Stop it.

Stop saying that.

You...

Do you...

love him?

Ma Ri.

How can you love someone else?

How...

dare you...

love someone else?

You can't...

get anything from me.

Neither my body or my heart.

I'll become...

like a dried flower...

and scatter like dust.

[VIU Ver] MBC E35 'Love is Sadness' "I'm Sending My Message to You" -♥ Ruo Xi ♥-

Ma Ri.

Can't you...

see me?

I'm walking...

on a tightrope in the air.

Can't you see that?

I'm afraid.

I'm scared...

of myself.

It's all over for us.

You know that too.

Please accept it...

and move on.

Fine.

Keep watching me then.

Me falling into the bottomless pit.

I can see it.

In the bottomless pit, me, you,

and even him are there...

all together.

He took Ma Ri back holding her mom hostage?

In order to free Ma Ri,

I have to take her mom to a safe place first.

She's in Kang In Wook's house. How would you do that?

I will do it no matter what.

You're here.

Come on in, Doctor Ha.

Make yourself at home.

Honey, you should meet him.

You know him.

He's Doctor Ha from Seo and Ha Plastic Surgery.

You know her.

She's my wife.

- I'll get you some tea. - I don't need tea.

Have a seat.

Sit.

Have a seat.

You and I have something to talk about.

I don't know why you dragged me here, but...

I invited you over.

I have nothing to say to you.

Do whatever you want with what I gave you on Doctor Ha.

I won't give you anything more regarding the hospital.

I won't help you anymore.

You won't help me?

Why not?

Did you suddenly make a friend or something?

I may not have any say in friendships.

But thanks to you,

after losing my job, friends, and everything,

I found my courage...

- to start over from the bottom. - You lost everything?

You've still got a lot of things.

Keep your courage up.

About the day of Woo Ha Kyung's accident.

Don't you remember that I know everything about it?

The fact that your girlfriend was still alive...

when you abandoned her to save your life.

If that fact becomes known, will you be able to deal with it?

What kind of hospital would ever let you perform surgery?

Do I really have to tell you this?

Seo Jung Won will never forgive you.

Who would?

You had an affair with his beloved wife...

and even abandoned her when she was dying.

Right.

It's all my fault.

It's my fault, so I'll deal with it.

So you should leave...

- Jung Won alone now. - Gosh, no.

You don't seem to catch my drift.

I will save your life if you take my side.

That's the only way you can survive.

I will destroy Seo Jung Won.

And you will help me...

drag him down into a bottomless pit.

Do you really have to do this?

All you need is me beside you.

My wife...

is so sweet.

But things are different in the world we live in.

If you don't want to be eaten, you have to eat them.

You'll be punished.

You will have to pay...

a heavy price for having a fling.

We all have to...

learn our lesson.

Jung Won, you better hide.

Let's go to the gallery for now.

- Why? - There are reporters outside.

The victims of medical malpractice...

exposed the hospital's corruption.

It didn't happen.

Well...

We're here to ask you about the medical malpractice.

Do you remember Mr. Lee Young Ho who had surgery here in 2018?

Please continue.

He suffered complications from the operation,

but you're trying to avoid your responsibility. Is that true?

That's not true. Then...

Do you remember Ms. Kim Jin Young who suffers from facial palsy?

There were reports that you offered a cash settlement.

Do you admit it?

Did you tamper with the records to cover up medical malpractice?

Do you admit to all the accusations?

Is it true that you offered settlement money with a memorandum?

Did you shrink from your responsibility?

Did you tamper with the medical records?

All the things you have mentioned are not true.

- Doctor Seo Jung Won. - Please wait.

Do you have anything to say to the victims?

- Please wait. - Did you offer settlement money?

Please tell us the truth.

Doctor Seo.

- Please make a statement. - None of this is true!

Ha Seong Ho.

He suddenly said he couldn't come to work today.

I don't have a good feeling about this.

I guess Kang In Wook...

is trying to ruin the hospital using Seong Ho.

We should request a correction of the news.

If it's reported in the press, the hospital will go under.

Will you just sit back and take it?

Ma Ri and her mother...

are being held hostage in Kang In Wook's house.

If I make a rash move,

they will be in danger.

The morning glory bloomed.

They rarely do.

A long time ago, there was a painter...

who lost his wife to a county magistrate.

He missed his wife...

until he died.

His wife heard the news and beat her breast in prison.

But in prison,

morning glory bloomed towards the wife.

To cheer her up.

To tell her that he's here.

He must've wanted...

to tell her that as a flower.

So?

Are you saying that you'll die?

I should disclose what needs to be known.

Like the morning glory.

To the world.

It will be reported in the media this evening.

Make sure to spread it wide.

Seo Jung Won is a respected doctor.

The whole nation should see his ugly face.

I will use all my connections to make it happen.

Make sure to corner him up...

so he won't be able to get back up again.

President Kang, I didn't see you at the board meeting this morning.

Board meeting?

I didn't hear about it.

There was a board meeting without me?

Darn it.

Why would you recruit professional management?

Why would you fire me?

I'll get you the herbal medicine.

A friend of mine told me.

Gunha Group is...

led by a chairman...

who's like a mob boss.

A mob boss?

That's right.

That's how I've led my whole life.

That's how the company has grown.

I can't let someone as weak as you...

run the company.

Gunha Construction wasn't even on the list,

but I took it to third place.

How can you run a company when you can't even handle your wife?

I'll...

- take care of Ma Ri. - Why would you forgive her?

You have to make her pay for what she did.

That's not how I taught you.

Don't worry.

Everything I've learned from you.

I'll give it all back to you.

- What? - You told me all the time.

"Don't lose a fight no matter what."

Money laundering.

Slush fund.

Connections with gangs.

And illegal lobbying.

I know everything.

If I don't use it at a time like this,

I will be betraying your lessons.

How dare you challenge me?

You should be flattered.

I'm trying...

to follow your teachings.

You're making...

me an enemy just for a girl?

A toothless lion should...

hand over the throne to a younger one.

I'll make sure to hold your retirement ceremony...

using proper formality.

I'm well aware of your bottom.

I know what makes you go berserk.

So you better be careful.

I'll throw you...

to the bottom...

before I get there.

You idiot!

You pathetic loser.

Because you're like this, your mom abandoned you...

and killed herself.

(Episode 36 will air shortly.)

I will destroy Seo Jung Won.

And you will help me...

drag him down into a bottomless pit.

(Episode 36)

Ma Ri.

Guess what I decided today.

I'm going to...

make the company solely mine.

My kingdom.

I made up my mind to hold the ultimate authority...

and to become the most powerful man in the world.

Do you know why?

Because I need to protect you.

Ma Ri,

you'll become the woman of the most powerful man...

in the world.

I'll do everything you want.

I'll give...

everything you wish.

Should I tell you...

what I want?

Go on.

Don't harm...

Doctor Seo.

Then...

I'll stay by your side forever.

I'm sorry for saying this,

but he's up to something new.

Doctor Seo, who is known to be...

the best plastic surgeon in the country,

is said to have concealed a medical accident...

and fabricated its record...

since the opening of his hospital in 2013.

It's causing a huge controversy.

How...

How could you do this?

How could you be this cruel and vile?

You...

- You're the devil. - Right.

I'll be the devil if I must to throw him down into the abyss.

All I need is you by my side. I don't care if we are in the abyss.

Because...

it will be my paradise.

- Dr. Choi. - Please say a word.

Do you have anything to comment?

- Is it true? - Why did you do it?

Please say a word.

Yes, Mother.

Don't worry.

There must've been a misunderstanding.

Things will be resolved soon, so don't worry.

Yes, Mother. Get some rest.

Mom.

What should I do?

Doctor Seo...

is going through a hard time because of me,

but there's nothing I can do about it.

He has lost and suffered so much...

because of me.

I at least want to ask him how he's holding up,

but I can't even call him.

What should I do, Mom?

Ma Ri.

Are you okay?

I'm okay,

so don't worry about me...

and please...

hang in there.

I was...

so scared and frightened...

by love.

It tears my heart like this,

but I still...

want to go back to him.

I miss him so much, Mom.

There's only one bullet in here.

In Wook.

In Wook, please stop.

I can prove my love for her again and again.

I'd rather die...

than part with you.

In Wook! Please!

If we reveal this to the public,

it will cause a huge impact.

But...

in order to take this to their divorce...

and to punish the assailant,

we need the victim's willingness to file a lawsuit...

and concrete evidence of his assault.

I'd like to encourage you...

by telling you that we already have...

the key to set you free.

- Hello? - Are you Mr. Seo Jung Won?

This is the police.

We need you to come in...

regarding our investigation of the medical accident.

Yes, I understand.

(Professor Kim Seok Yun)

Hello, professor.

I know you didn't do it.

Just think of it as one of the struggles in your career.

I've never forgotten your teaching.

You told me to use my medical skills to save people's hearts.

That's right, and you saved the lives of countless patients...

through your reconstructive operating skills.

I'm sure you'll manage to save yours too.

I trust you.

I hope you clear your name.

I'm cheering for you.

Thank you.

Where do you want to sell your paintings?

To the gallery.

I'll buy your paintings.

I told you...

I want to sell my paintings myself.

What do you want me to do?

There's nothing for you to do.

I'd like to sell them through Woo Seon.

Oh, your friend.

Okay.

I'll do it.

I'll...

Ms. Choi?

Yes, this is Kang In Wook.

Yes.

Oh, goodness.

I need your cooperation.

What?

Show me what you have in your pockets.

My gosh.

Is this really necessary? How heartless.

Here.

Here you go.

Ma Ri!

They're ready to perform the surgery tomorrow.

Everything...

will finally come back to its place.

Good job.

It's nice.

Can you put it up at the gallery?

I've got my husband's permission.

It's precious to me, so please.

Okay.

I need to take a look at it.

Look.

She said she got her husband's permission.

Go on.

You may take it with you.

That's exactly what I'll do.

(Trustworthy Mapo Police)

Ma Ri sent a painting. Come quickly to the gallery.

(Seoul Taxi)

Jung Won.

It's another piece of her series,

"Flower".

How did you get this?

Her friend called me, saying she couldn't reach you.

So I met her and got the painting from her.

Why were you out of contact?

I was being investigated at the police station.

I see.

It must've been hard.

It's morning glory.

Why did she paint morning glory?

[VIU Ver] MBC E36 'Love is Sadness' "Lobedleaf Pharbitis" -♥ Ruo Xi ♥-

Hoping...

someone would notice my signal for rescue.

Flowers...

have been my signal for rescue to the world.

Pleasant news.

- What? - Pleasant news.

That's what morning glory means.

Ma Ri is trying...

to deliver some kind of message through this painting.

Finally.

The surgery will take place today.

I'll come pick you up after taking care of urgent matters at work.

Get yourself prepared.

Don't worry.

I had a nice dream last night.

The surgery will go well.

I have a good feeling about it.

See you later.

Are you still looking at the painting?

Did you find anything?

You haven't eaten anything, have you?

Don't be like that, and eat some of this.

What are you doing...

to this beautiful painting?

Jung Won!

Isn't that...

a memory card?

Maybe something was recorded in it.

Please stop.

Come here!

This will be the definite evidence like the attorney said.

But it's too dangerous for you to go see him alone.

This is a copy. I want you to keep it.

If something happens to me, send it to the broadcasting station.

Must you do this?

They're the world's best surgeons.

Don't worry.

Like magic, you'll have your face back...

when you wake up from a deep sleep.

I...

like this face.

That's not your face.

It's someone else's.

I don't care whose face it is.

You know what that face means.

That face is...

Seo Jung Won's dead wife Woo Ha Kyung's...

that he can't get over.

In this face,

I experienced true love.

Do you really think...

that punk loves you?

You're wrong.

He simply loves Woo Ha Kyung's face he carved...

into your face.

No.

You know very well what kind of person his wife was.

This face brought him agony, not happiness.

It must've been so painful for him to see me,

but he overcame it all and loved me.

Instead of my face,

he saw my heart.

- Do you believe that? - Have you ever...

seen me as who I am at least once?

The only thing you see is my face.

And you're mistaking it for love.

No.

That man...

loved me the way I was...

regardless of how helpless I was...

or how messy my life was.

He embraced my soul,

not my looks.

(Doctor Seo Jung Won)

(Connect)

Seo Jung Won.

- We need to meet up right now. - Why?

Why do I have to meet you?

You'll desperately want to meet me once you hear this.

(Kang In Wook)

(Voice Recording)

Ma Ri and I...

will wring each other's necks,

will love each other,

and will die together.

We're meant to be together.

This isn't everything.

I have more evidence to drag you down.

Isn't your hospital about to close down?

I guess you're doing all right so far.

I'm not afraid of losing my hospital...

people's trust.

What I'm afraid of is...

Ma Ri withering in your hands.

I'm hoping that good news would bloom...

over the prison wall that confines me.

My dear love,

please take me.

I'm Sending My Message to You.

(I'm Sending My Message to You)

(Love in Sadness)

Where are you? Tell me!

This gun...

will connect our hearts together.

Go with me.

Right.

This is our ending.

Ma Ri!

Ma Ri.

Ma Ri, stay with me.

Ma Ri.

No!
