on a mysterious jungle island
called Bengalla.

It seemed Iike a case
of out of the frying pan and into the fire,

but the Touganda tribesmen
meant the boy no harm.

They scooped him up
and carried him to their village,

and that night,
in an ancient ceremony of fire and drums,

the tribal shaman presented the boy
with a ring of great significance.

Then and there, the boy understood

that he was destined
to avenge his father's death

by fighting piracy, greed and cruelty
in aII their forms.

And when he grew to be a man,

he became The Phantom.
