the bullet's trajectory

through the mayors hat.

that his head was tilted to the right

at the moment of impact.

But it wasn't.

You see, both men are facing forward

just prior to the shot

As the bullet strikes,

the mayors hat pitches
forward and to the right,

and alderman Hidell's head
goes back and to the left.

It's as if the bullet
entered from this side,

reversed direction,

and instantaneously went
through Hidell's head.

A magic bullet.

Or there were two shots coming
from opposite directions.

Impossible.

Both men are seated side by side.

To shoot one, you would
have to shoot the other.
