Bring out the bride!

Bring out the bride!

No, Your Highness!

Let go of me!

Mu Wanyao.

You don't want to marry me,

but I want to marry you.

At least we have one thing in common.

You don't want to be trapped in the palace.

Neither do I.

What are you doing?

This is no time for your smart mouth!

They're right on our heels.

Keep heading west.

I've got another group waiting

in the woods 50 li ahead.

Look ahead.

Watch the road.

Don't look back.

Hang in there.

I'll stop the bleeding.

I'll take you back to North Jing.

We're finished.

You could have at least let him escape.

Even... even if you'd hit Wanyao by mistake.

As long as Meng Zaishi stayed in the palace,

Huai would remain safe.

But now he's dead in Sheng'an.

they'll surely rise in rebellion.

Your Majesty.

So it was... just a dream.

Your Majesty.

Princess Danyang has returned from North Jing.

She is back?

She holds North Jing's military tally.

North Jing's troops are massing at the border.

If she dares return now,

she must have a plan.

This won't end peacefully.

North Jing's troops?

(Sheng'an)

(I am)

(back.)

Your Majesty.

Princess Danyang is here.

Show her in.

Father.

I'm back.

You...

This outfit is from North Jing.

The wedding dress you gave me

was soaked through with Meng Zaishi's blood.

Can't wear it anymore.

My condolences, Your Highness.

You may not know,

but the sight of his body

filled the generals

with grief and rage.

A hundred thousand men.

I'd never heard such earth-shattering cries of grief.

That...

That army of a hundred thousand...

You mean North Jing's army?

They wailed at the funeral,

cutting their faces and weeping blood for Meng Zaishi.

They swore to avenge their general.

You dare threaten me?

You actually

colluded with North Jing?

Colluded?

What are you talking about?

North Jing is Huai's territory.

How is that collusion?

Meng Zaishi

was Huai's border general.

His death remains unexplained.

Shouldn't the court mourn him?

Back during the Rebellion of the Seven Military Governors,

if North Jing

hadn't been the first to withdraw its troops,

who knows how many more years the war would've dragged on?

Isn't that the Meng family's merit?

Father.

Is Taiji Palace

and that throne all you care about?

Your Highness, you don't know this,

but when you left the capital,

His Majesty was shocked by the news.

He was so worried about your safety

that he suffered

a stroke from the anxiety.

So

you fell ill out of worry for me, Father.

I thought it was from wrongfully killing Meng Zaishi by mistake.

It seems the generals of North Jing

have misunderstood you.

You actually...

You actually dare incite the vassal troops?

Father,

do you think I dared to come back

because I have North Jing's troops?

Do you think I'd use the lives of those soldiers

and the people of Huai to threaten you?

Look.

This is Meng Zaishi's wolf tally.

With it,

(North Jing Military Tally) I can command their three armies.

Your Highness, please don't act rashly.

Speak.

What exactly

do you want?

Father,

I'm not like you.

I'm not good at using people as pawns.

And I don't want to gamble the fate of the realm on some grand scheme.

I don't have

your ruthless heart.

I don't enjoy throwing away people's lives

or trampling on their dignity.

I came back

only because

Sheng'an is my home.

Even if I say all this,

you won't believe me.

Father.

Do you remember that prophecy?

The daughter of the Yaoguang Star

shall restore the imperial house.

When you had the court historians write that prophecy down,

you probably never thought

it'd come true one day, did you?

I suppose I have you to thank for that.

All the suffering, grief, and bloodshed I've endured

throughout my life...

All thanks to that prophecy of yours.

You...

You...

You...

You mean...

You...

Your...

You rebellious daughter!

Rebellious daughter.

That's quite a joke, Father.

There have only ever been rebellious sons.

How could a daughter ever be rebellious?

Tell me,

what exactly

do you want?

What do I want?

If only you'd asked me that

sooner.

Father,

look at you now.

Who else but me

would take care of you?

Are you counting on your sons?

The Crown Prince?

If I sent you to them,

none of them

would let you lie here and breathe another day.

Your Highness, I'm deeply moved

by your filial devotion.

His Majesty is unwell.

Your Highness, why not tell us plainly

what you intend to do?

State affairs take endless effort.

They can't go a single day unattended.

Now

I'm the only one who can help you now.

Huai

has a precedent for a princess ruling as Regent.

Besides,

I'm

only here to ease your burden, Father.

What?

You...

How...

How dare you!

Your Majesty,

you've been bedridden for days.

I've managed to pacify the officials for now.

But it's not a long-term solution.

The Yu faction is barely settled.

The Lingnan case implicates many.

The court is in turmoil.

North Jing is now without a ruler.

And the Crown Prince has been deposed.

With things as they are,

placing Her Highness in charge

is the way to secure Huai's stability.

Chancellor Liu.

How...

How dare you betray me!

- Someone! - Your Majesty!

You...

You all...

- Your Majesty. - Someone.

Your Majesty.

- Your Majesty! - Someone!

- Please serve as Regent, Your Highness! - Someone!

There's still room to turn things around!

Someone!
