? Come on and set them free ?

? Come on, start a-thinking... ?

- [laughter] - LENA: So, Jamie,

you really regifted a shirt that your wife

- bought you? - JAMIE: Yeah.

And then you wore it to family dinner?

It was a nice shirt. I mean, I liked it.

Being Danny Reagan's younger brother's no walk in the park.

Why you got to do Uncle Jamie like that?

- Thank you. - JONAH: I don't know,

I feel like you got to be pretty clear

when you're regifting something.

Especially if it's from your girl.

Thank you. Jonah, right as usual.

- You should learn from him. - [laughter]

- Look at that. - They're roommates.

- Oh, okay. - And by the way, I heard you got

a girl's number last night.

- I did. - Casanova won't shut up about it.

[gasps] Does this girl have a name?

- Delilah. - Oh,

- that's nice. - DANNY: Ah. And did you get

Delilah's number before or after Sean lost his wallet?

I didn't lose it, I left it at the bar. There's a difference.

But we do have to go get it before the afternoon shift,

- so... - JONAH: Yeah, which means we can't join you guys

on the duck boat. Sorry about that.

And no wallet, which means Sean won't be chipping in

for breakfast again.

Okay.

- Actually, I already took care of it. - What?

Yeah, when I stepped out to take that call from Eddie.

You did a sneak-and-pay?

You're from out of town. You can't pay for breakfast.

Well, technically I'm here for a lieutenant's conference,

- so NYPD paid. - Yeah.

Breakfast on Grandpa.

- Cheers. - I'm here for that.

LENA: Thank you anyway,

- Lieutenant. - DANNY: Yes.

Lieutenant Jamie Reagan,

from Harvard Law School to NYPD

and climbing the ranks faster than I ever possibly could.

My little brother couldn't let my promotion have a moment

to shine, could you?

No, I guess, I guess not. Not this time.

How about a selfie?

- Let's go. Reagan boys. - Yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah,

- yeah-yeah-yeah. - Come together. Come together.

Aw, you look great.

- Okay, now all of us. Here's all of us. - Aw.

[siren wailing in distance]

- [laughter, indistinct chatter] - SARAH: Hi. Hi.

- SETH: Oh, there she is. - I am so sorry to be late, Rabbi Siegel.

SIEGEL: Not at all. I-I know how busy you are.

SARAH: Ah, thank you.

SIEGEL: Seth and I were just talking.

- SETH: Yes. - He-he tells me

that, uh, he was raised Jew-ish?

- [laughter] - Yeah. Yeah, I would say

that my family's Judaism is probably casual at best.

Right? We were the family with-

we had the menorah and the Christmas tree.

But all that to say,

I am very serious about

embracing my faith and having a Jewish household

- with Sarah. - Which is why

it-it pains me to say this, truly,

but I won't be able to officiate your wedding.

- I-I don't understand. - I'm sorry?

Seth tells me that his mother isn't Jewish, correct?

My father is, right?

But my-my mom's Methodist, but, like, on paper.

Judaism is matrilineal.

By halakah, by Jewish law,

you are not considered Jewish

unless you complete a formal conversion.

Rabbi, I mean, I- like, I had a bris.

You know what I mean? We-we celebrate the Jewish holidays,

I went to Hebrew school...

I'm not trying to erase that.

But when I stand under a chuppah,

I am acting on behalf of a tradition

that is older than all of us.

I can't pick and choose where it applies.

You made an exception for my mom.

Mae officially converted.

She chose Judaism with full knowledge.

I was honored to stand with her.

And if Seth decides to convert,

I would be equally honored to stand with both of you.

But without that...

I'm sorry.

[overlapping shouting]

- Police! Go, go, go! - Move in, move in!

- Hands! Hands! - Let me see your hands!

Move, move!

Stay back!

- Get those hands up! - Get down right now!

[man groans]

OFFICER: Tango, Code 10. We have a man down.

Apparent heart attack. Send EMS to our...

MAE: John Malloy suffered a fatal heart attack

as a result of a 911 call made against his son Wesley.

Your client was playing video games with Wesley,

called in a false threat, then Boston PD

sent a SWAT team to the Malloy house.

BLAKE [over recording]: Yeah, this is John Malloy.

M-My son's gone crazy.

H-He's got a gun, and he says he's gonna shoot me.

I locked myself in my room.

SEEVES: Madam District Attorney,

we accepted your invitation here in good faith

that you wanted a conversation, not to make accusations.

- Just stating the facts, counselor. - [Blake scoffs]

It was just a prank.

And now a man's dead.

SEEVES: If you seek charges, my client

is prepared to file civil lawsuits

against the Boston Police Department

for what was plainly an aggressive overreaction.

You're scapegoating an innocent young man

to cover up police misconduct.

MAE: I did invite you here for a conversation

because I was hoping to understand what happened

from Blake's side.

J-Just part of gaming culture.

I really didn't expect anyone to take it seriously.

Like my lawyer said, cops overreacted.

SEEVES: Well, if that's all?

[clears throat] Let's go.

- CHARLIE: What a punk. - I blame the parents.

I was talking about the lawyer Seeves.

- Threatening us with headlines? - We're gonna press charges

in the wrongful death of Wesley Malloy's father.

Put a team together to strategize.

What's the problem, Charlie?

It's the video, Mae.

All it takes is one juror to agree

that SWAT overstepped, and Blake walks.

It's gonna look like you're trying to protect the BPD,

which Thad Longfellow will use against you.

If my campaign is gonna catch heat either way,

then it might as well be in the pursuit of justice

for the Malloy family.

Gather a team.

Yes, ma'am.

TOUR GUIDE: Off to our right is the Old State House,

the head of the English regime during the colonial age.

Boston was originally founded in 1625

by a man named William Blaxton.

He founded the area, and he called it the Shawmut Peninsula,

which stood for "the living water,"

because it was all water.

It was one-and-a-half square miles of land.

Boston today is more than 40 square miles of land.

So how's Eddie?

She's good.

- She sends her love, by the way. - Mm-hmm.

You should see her with Joey Francis.

She's such a great mom.

Send her my love back. And speaking of families,

look at that.

That's Elena with her grandma Dania.

We introduced them a few months back.

She's been helping out with babysitting and stuff.

It's been awesome.

That's cool.

"Cool?" That's it?

What?

Come on. What's going on with you?

- I didn't say anything. - Uh...

That's exactly the point.

You're not saying anything.

I mean, you're like a blind date from hell.

And when you finally do say something,

it's like, "Cool," "What?"

- I'm fine, Danny. - You're not fine.

- Okay, I'm not fine. - Well, then what's wrong with you?

You left.

I left New York.

Erin said somebody in the family was upset that I left.

It's you who she was talking about?

TOUR GUIDE: We thank you so much

for joining us today on our tour of Boston.

Enjoy the city and watch your step on the way out.

DANNY: So, what, you've just been

quietly pissed since I moved to Boston?

- I'm not pissed. - Of course you're pissed.

You left me stranded on a duck boat.

I thought we talked about this.

You talked to Dad about it,

you talked to Erin and Grandpa about it,

but you sure as hell never talked to me,

or otherwise I would've told you how much it bothered me

that the second my son was born, you skipped town.

I didn't skip town.

- I had to... - It's the same as always. You do whatever

you want, everyone else is just supposed to be okay with it.

Hey. Hey!

[grunts, groans]

Come on. Come on!

Hey, Boston PD. Step back.

Hey! Hey.

Hey!

- Police! Hey! - JAMIE: Don't try to move.

- Danny, we need a bus. - I'm on it.

JAMIE: Don't try to move.

- [groans] - DANNY: This is Detective Reagan.

We need EMS at the Prudential Building,

duck boat departures.

Hey. You okay? Sit tight, help's on the way.

And send backup.

Hit-and-run suspect fled on foot.

Male, white, mid-40s. Brown hair, plaid shirt.

- License plate... - JAMIE: Don't try to get up.

Just stay put.

Actually, send CSRUs forthwith.

They can get the plate.

What's up? Is it bad?

DANNY: Trunk full of diamonds.

I think it's about to get a whole lot worse.

? ?

Hey. I'm looking for Reverend Peters.

- Is he inside? - Yep.

Thank you.

Grandpa?

- [knocking] - Hey, Lena.

- Hey. - Oh, thanks for coming.

- Of course. - Oh...

I'm sorry to bug you on your day off.

You are never bugging me. What's going on?

Well, it would be easier to just show you.

- Okay. - This, uh, apartment

belonged to one of my congregants.

Eugene Platt. He operated the T on every line in Boston

until he was in his 60s.

He battled cancer for about three years

till the Lord called him home.

He lived alone, his nephew Dennis was looking in on him,

taking him to his treatments.

Uh, some of the volunteers from the church

offered to help pack up Eugene's things.

Okay.

Yeah, well, we've been packing his things all morning,

but I found something that just didn't sit right with me.

LENA: And do you know if these were Eugene's belongings?

He had another cell phone. Also, I packed a few tie clips.

Key chains, too.

I'm not sure why these were singled out.

LENA: And I'm guessing this hair tie is not his style.

Turn the phone over.

? ?

LENA: Huh.

Did you ask Dennis about this? The nephew?

Eh, he couldn't say, other than Eugene

was something of a pack rat.

Sorry if I'm overreacting.

No, it looks like it's a good thing you called, Grandpa.

That is blood.

SARAH: The injured driver

of the crashed sedan is Armen Kola,

32, Albanian national.

He's in a medically induced coma in Boston General.

The driver of the SUV that nearly hit you

is Hasan Kola, 40, also Albanian,

with priors tied to an Albanian crew in Brighton.

Okay, hold on.

- These two are brothers? - SARAH: Appears so.

The diamonds that were found in Armen's trunk match

a shipment that was reported stolen

last week in Downtown Crossing

by a wholesaler named Besnik Teliti.

Customs has the gems entering JFK,

then a truck got hit between JFK and here.

Driver was killed, crew disappeared with the stones.

JAMIE: NYPD Major Case

has this same crew tied to a homicide in Queens.

We've been chasing these rocks since the truck robbery.

Which is why, when BPD logged "diamonds,

multimillion-dollar value,"

NYPD lit up my phone.

With NYPD's blessing, Lieutenant,

having you here to take custody of the evidence and smooth over

the jurisdiction fight is surprisingly convenient.

Kind of like you planned to almost get hit by a car.

Point is, these diamonds

are a joint NYPD and BPD headache now.

So, we have Armen in the sedan, Hasan in the SUV.

Were they chasing each other or working together

and something went sideways?

Do you have anything on the whereabouts of Hasan?

We have Hasan's face all over the traffic cams

during the chase, then nothing.

He vanished. So, he either knows the city

or he's got some help. So, I'm having

the gang unit bring up everything they have

on the Kola crew.

- Happy hunting. - You ready?

Yeah. It's my evidence. You ready?

- You two good? - Yeah.

Oh, yeah. Never better.

SEAN: I just can't believe

nobody turned in my wallet.

Bro, if I was gonna return a wallet,

it would have to have at least 20 bucks in it.

- I had cash in it. - No, you had five ones

and a punch card for a free sandwich.

Who even has a wallet these days?

It's all about the phone case. It's efficient,

- it's sleek. - Not that you'd know,

but my mom gave me that wallet before she died.

When I got my first part-time job in high school,

she said, "Your own money should go in your own wallet,"

- and I've had it ever since. - I'm sorry.

I had no idea.

- We'll find it, okay? - Nobody turned in my wallet, though,

which means somebody has it, along with my credit card.

Dude, hit the app.

Worst-case, you dispute a couple charges

the bank eats it.

- Cost of doing business. - Thank you.

Your financial wisdom is just amazing.

Are you kidding me?

Somebody's already using it. They just bought $300 sneakers.

- That's perfect. - How is that perfect?

Now we have a trail to follow.

? ?

DANNY: Look, is this beef gonna be a problem

or are we gonna keep it professional?

JAMIE: I've never not been professional.

That's not an answer.

Yeah. Well, as long as you can follow an order,

I think we'll be fine.

No. This is not New York, it's Boston.

Okay? I don't take orders from you. It's my city.

Well, we're on a joint investigation.

Even though we work for separate departments,

your boss knows I outrank you.

Okay. Let's agree to disagree.

Here he is.

- Bes... - Besnik Teliti?

I'm Lieutenant Jamie Reagan, NYPD,

this is Sergeant Detective Danny Reagan, BPD.

- You bring my diamonds? - DANNY: Not yet.

They're in evidence for now. First, we got to ask you

questions about the man who was driving a car

with your diamonds: Armen Kola.

Kolas. Always the Kolas.

Their sister Vesa worked for me.

The best salesperson I ever had.

She's smart. Kind to my customers.

Kept my books straight.

Till they killed her.

- You're trying to say her own brothers killed her? - In a sense.

- What does that mean? - She borrowed Hasan's car.

She gets in the car, she turns key, and...

boom.

They meant to kill the brothers,

- but they kill Vesa instead. - Okay, enough

with the pronouns, who's "they"?

Serbs. They run a crew out of Brighton.

They think they own half the city.

After the bombing, Hasan and Armen vowed revenge.

- Said the people who did this would burn. - DANNY: Great.

Just give us Hasan, and we'll be done with it.

Okay? We need address, location,

family, friends, somewhere he might run to.

- JAMIE: Danny. - And have Hasan think

that I am a rat?

JAMIE: Is that better than the D.A. thinking

that you're an accomplice?

Because that insurance payout is

- gonna be pretty massive. - Look, the bottom line here

is the police think this was an inside job.

Okay? So, if it wasn't Hasan, we're gonna assume it was you.

Unless you start talking to us now.

Hey. Why do you assume it was inside job?

- DANNY: I'm talking to him. - What do you think I'm doing?

Why do you keep interrupting me?

- But why are you assuming that... - We're assuming nothing.

Okay, stop whatever this is.

I will tell you what I know, but

inside.

- See? - You want to stop trying to get the last word?

Well, if you would toughen up,

you might have got the last word.

Mae, we've got a problem.

Only one? Banner day.

Yeah, a civil suit was filed against the BPD

over the Malloy raid.

Wow, Blake Snyder's lawyer didn't waste any time.

Yeah, only Snyder's isn't filing.

The plaintiff is Wesley Malloy.

The victim.

He must smell a payday.

The boy just lost his father, Charlie.

He's grieving. Rightfully so.

Huh. So, now our victim and the one who harmed him

are both gonna drag the BPD through the mud.

And we're stuck in the middle.

Okay, NYPD confirms that Hasan's E-ZPass

exited and entered the city

in a window that could account for the truck heist.

So, now the brother with the diamonds

is in the hospital in a coma

and the brother with the grudge is in the wind.

I pulled up Besnik's insurance claim

and compared it to what Evidence weighed out

from Armen's trunk.

Numbers don't match.

There's about $50,000 unaccounted for in stones.

Do we think Besnik is padding the loss

or that he could be a part of it?

DANNY: Doesn't feel like fraud to us.

I mean, for one thing, Besnik can't stand Hasan.

And his business is doing great.

Doesn't need a bailout. The numbers look honest.

It's possible, though, that somebody skimmed $50,000

in diamonds before or after the hijack.

JAMIE: Or Hasan's holding back

enough diamonds to buy something big.

Gangs has Hasan pinned to an Albanian set

that's gone around with a Serbian crew more than once.

A long-standing ethnic grievance dating back to Yugoslavia.

Vesa borrows Hasan's car,

she parks in front of a Serbian bar,

the car gets bombed,

Vesa dies instead of Hasan.

I mean, if somebody came at me and Erin

got caught in the crossfire,

- we'd want revenge. - [phone vibrates]

Agreed.

Oh, it's Boston General. Armen is out of the coma

and stable enough to talk, if we're polite about it.

I left my politeness back in New York.

I can see Boston hasn't changed him all that much.

Good luck.

DANNY: Hey.

- Hey. - You okay?

Yeah. I wanted to ask your opinion on something.

Do you think it's okay if I use the BPD system

to track down my wallet?

- Why? - I know we've gotten whacked a couple times

for investigating stuff off duty, but...

You got whacked a few times because patrolmen

do not investigate.

Come on, off the desk.

Dad, I know that, but this is personal.

It's the wallet Mom gave me.

Okay. Well, look, I know it hurts,

but you got a new boss.

Maybe this is a time when asking permission

outweighs begging for forgiveness.

And what if Sergeant Ryan tells me to drop it?

Then you report it missing to me

and I'll find the wallet.

Son, it's just a thing.

Your mother is always with you.

I promise.

Hey, Sean.

- Hey. - Danny, Armen's waiting. We got to go.

- Yeah. - What, are you two working a case right now?

- Mm-hmm. - Is Uncle Jamie in charge?

I mean, was that an order?

We have somewhere to be.

[chuckles] Was that an order?

- It was totally an order. - It wasn't an order.

Sounded like an order.

My dad had a scare, couple years ago.

A mild heart attack, they said.

We changed his diet, he quit smoking,

he even started doing yoga at the community center.

He said, "If I'm gonna die,

I'm gonna at least be able to touch my toes again first."

- [chuckles] - [laughs, sniffles]

He sounds like a good man.

- And a good dad. - He was my best friend.

He'd watch his shows, I'd make us dinner.

It wasn't much, but it was ours.

Now you have funeral expenses and a lawsuit you didn't expect.

I know it makes me look like a leech,

suing the cops.

I don't blame the guys that busted in here.

They were just doing their job.

Somebody told them I was a threat.

Blake Snyder told them you were a threat.

Blake told a dispatcher.

Listen, when you're gaming at a level like this,

swatting's just...

it's just trolling.

And Blake didn't like being beat.

What you're describing is not just anything.

It's bullying, it's intimidation.

It's using a system that was set up to protect people

as a weapon.

When you beat Blake Snyder,

did he already know about your dad's heart condition?

He used to make fun of it.

Called him Grandpa Malloy.

Look, Wesley, I am not here to talk you out of your lawsuit.

You need money, I understand that.

But if you don't hold Blake Snyder accountable,

I promise you will not

be the last person he does this to.

He's got a lawyer,

he's got a following.

He's doing just fine.

I have a GoFundMe with 14 donations.

You have me.

I'm on your side.

If you want me.

I just want to be left alone.

I'll respect that.

Hey.

Whether or not you help me,

I will do everything in my power to make sure

your father's death meant something.

So, I... I-I talked to Rabbi Siegel again.

Seems like there's a class, all right?

There's some readings...

I don't want you to change.

But babe, mar-marriage is about growing together.

Your family's actually helped me appreciate my faith,

- so why not go all the way? - Because "all the way"

should mean that we show up and love each other.

Shouldn't just showing up matter?

Doing what is meaningful to us?

Yeah, but babe, your dad loved Rabbi Siegel.

Because Siegel accepted Mae.

He presided over my and Jonah's b'nai mitzvah. He was

a huge part of our Jewish life.

So, yes.

Yes, it would have been nice for him to marry us.

Full circle.

But if the price of that is you having to jump through hoops

to prove that you are worthy?

That doesn't honor my dad.

I'm happy you want to do a formal conversion,

but I can't wait that long to marry you.

Even if Rabbi Siegel doesn't approve.

Where's my lawyer?

DANNY: You don't need a lawyer.

Technically, you haven't even been arrested yet.

Well, you were unconscious all day.

We didn't want you to roll out of bed and hurt yourself

- while you were asleep. - Your brother's still out there.

This is your chance to help him and yourself.

They killed my sister!

You don't know what it's like. Huh?

Your whole life, you're side by side.

Okay? Y-You fight, you make up, you yell.

And then, one day, somebody else decides that's it.

No more!

She's gone.

- Look, let me tell you... - Yeah. Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[sighs] Go ahead.

Actually, we do know what it's like.

Okay? We lost our older brother, Joe.

He was a cop, too. We loved him.

But someone took him from us.

Just like your sister was taken from you.

And we miss him every day.

We love Vesa that way.

Hasan wanted blood.

Serbs took her, Serbs pay.

I told him, "You want to hit the guys who planted the bomb,

we find them."

But he wanted anyone near them, too.

When I heard this plan, I tried to talk him out of it.

When that failed...

...I took the diamonds.

We found diamonds at the crash.

You didn't take all of 'em.

Hasan still has enough to get his hands

on some serious firepower.

I understand having a brother like Hasan.

Guy who does whatever he wants,

lets everyone else deal with the fallout.

You don't agree with the decisions that he makes,

so you try to stay ahead of them,

you try to-to be better.

But deep down, you know that...

...it's your brother being who he is

that made you who you are.

So, you love him...

...and you do everything you can to protect him.

That's why you took the diamonds, yeah?

Hasan is emotional.

- Quick to anger. - So, do what you've done

your whole life right now.

Protect him.

You say you're the reasonable one of you two.

Now it's time to prove it. Tell us who the guy is

that Hasan gets his weapons from.

Our brother's gone.

But yours is still out there.

Help him.

Okay.

I'll tell you where Hasan gets his weapons.

[scoffs] But you're too late.

LENA: So, we had enough DNA

in Eugene's place to run it against the blood on that phone.

Grandpa, it's not his.

I ran the IMEI on the phone.

It's registered to Ellen McKenna, 65.

Deceased. It's her blood.

- I don't think I know her. - She died of cancer.

And I dug into the records, and she had the same oncologist

- as Eugene. - You know...

...after my own health scare last year,

I couldn't help but see some of myself in Eugene.

You know? We prayed together.

It sends shivers up my spine

to think that...

...I could have been wrong about who he was.

It's not your fault, Grandpa.

People who have the capacity to harm

can wear masks so real

even their families don't recognize them.

You brought me here to show me something.

Yeah.

In addition to that, Ellen McKenna and Eugene

were a part of the same chemotherapy group,

along with these three.

They were all treated for cancer in the last five years.

And all of a sudden- boom-

cardiac events.

That's four deaths.

Eugene had four items in that box.

Grandpa, if Eugene killed these people...

...their families deserve the truth.

Eugene could...

he could barely get up the stairs in the end.

That's the part that I can't figure out, either.

'Cause if these were homicides, Eugene was sick and frail.

You know, to murder four people and tamper with meds

and then hide souvenirs...

If it wasn't him,

then it was someone else who knew the group.

Someone who had access to their homes,

their hospital rooms, to Eugene's apartment.

His nephew. Dennis.

But why would he want to hurt

- these people? - I don't know,

but it's time I go ask him.

I-I found Blake Snyder's lawyer, Seeves.

He's been in court since lunch.

- You said you had something? - We've been scrubbing Blake's

public streams for any references to Wesley's father.

There's a lot of trash talk here, but...

Here, these transcripts.

Wesley mentions his father's heart condition

and Blake doubles down on mocking him.

CHARLIE: "Yeah, my dad's in the other room,

he's got a heart thing, I got to keep it down."

Blake: "Aw, does Grandpa Malloy need his nap?"

Well, if snark was murder,

we'd be prosecuting half of Boston.

Blake knew about Mr. Malloy's heart condition

before he even picked up the phone.

He knowingly weaponized the police against a man

he understood was vulnerable.

This proves knowledge.

Wesley said that Blake would do this kind of thing

for engagement, content.

But is it enough for intent?

Blake likes attention?

Let's see how much attention he can handle.

JONAH: I can't believe Sergeant Ryan

let us go on call early to find your wallet.

I never know what she's thinking,

- but glad I asked. - Same.

- Think they're gonna show? - We triple-checked those charges.

They said they ordered same-day delivery to those P.O. boxes.

SEAN: Unreal, man.

Wallet my mom gave me jacked for a pair of sneakers.

Wait. No way.

- SEAN: What? - That's Delilah.

- Your "digit pull last night" Delilah? - Yes. Yes.

That's her. How could she?

What, now you care?

SEAN: Hey!

You enjoy your little shopping spree?

DELILAH: Oh. You two are cops?

Hey, guys. What's going on?

What's going on?

How about petty larceny for starters, Delilah?

Shoes ordered to this P.O. box,

paid for with my card.

Same card that was in my wallet when somebody

stole it last night.

Look, it was just a couple of things.

The bank will cover it. Nobody gets hurt.

Where's my wallet?

It was old and gross.

I tossed it in a dumpster.

Oh, my God.

JONAH: Okay.

Here's how this is gonna go.

Give me that. Thank you.

You're gonna take us to exactly which dumpster you dumped it in.

And if you find the wallet, maybe we'll tell the D.A.

you cooperated when it comes to the mail fraud

and identity theft charges.

Come on, Joseph. We could still...

It's Jonah.

God, you are literally the worst.

MAN: Coming.

Dennis Trent, I presume?

- Uh, yeah. - I'm Detective Lena Silver of the BPD.

I'm Reverend Peters' granddaughter.

Thanks for agreeing to meet with me.

Of course. I had to come by

and see to a few more personal effects anyway.

Uh, come in, Detective.

Can I get you something to drink?

- [door closes] - There might be some sodas

- still in the fridge. - Water would be great.

Thanks. So, listen, I was sorry to hear about

your uncle's passing.

My grandfather said you were a big help in Eugene's life.

Drove him around, sat with him at chemo.

Well, we took care of each other.

You know, on a lot of people's paperwork as primary contact.

Eugene, Ellen McKenna, others from the chemo group.

Well, a lot of them didn't have much family around.

Somebody had to make sure they got to appointments.

Yeah, somebody had to have keys, too, right?

Bring in groceries, water plants, check meds.

Don't take another step.

You want to tell me what that is?

You watch someone you love disappear

one piece at a time.

The pain, the bills.

Families going broke trying to buy another week of misery.

They cried.

They begged. Not for more treatment. For it to stop.

- You saying they begged you? - They didn't have to.

I could see it.

Eugene was humiliated.

Couldn't get to the bathroom alone.

Couldn't hold a fork.

He told me he didn't want me to see him that way.

He told my grandfather something different.

He told him he was grateful for you.

That he didn't know what he would do without you.

He said that?

And you took the choice away from him.

From all of them.

You didn't show them mercy, or their families.

You stole time that they will never get back.

I ended their suffering.

You ended their lives.

And you took trophies.

That's not mercy. That's something else.

And now this is the last time I'm gonna tell you:

put the needle down.

[grunts, whimpers]

[groaning]

Stay down.

Give me your arm.

Aah! [groaning]

You're under arrest.

[pop music playing on speakers]

Boston police.

Anybody home?

JAMIE: Place is open, door's unlocked,

no one's minding a tray of loose stones?

DANNY: Jamie.

? ?

Looks like Besnik's missing 50K in diamonds that Hasan took.

If Hasan brought these, he came shopping

for more than just guns.

And I think I just figured out what he came shopping for.

Please tell me that's not what it looks like.

DANNY: Well, it was an RPG.

And that was three rockets.

One's missing, Jamie.

He just used the diamonds to get himself to the table,

but he didn't have enough to pay for what he needed,

so he kills them and takes.

And now we got a madman running around town

there with a rocket launcher and a vendetta.

DANNY: What do you got over there?

Sorry. Can't stand driving in this city.

It's nothing but cobblestone streets,

potholes and those screwy rotary things.

The Serbian set's got a handful of spots in Brighton-

cardrooms, nightclubs- but this car bombing

took place a half block from their favorite bar.

Vesa borrows Hasan's car, parks for a night out, and they

blow it before they even check who's behind the wheel.

So, they see Hasan's car parked on their turf,

they figure he's coming to start beef,

they pull the trigger on the vehicle

not realizing it's his sister inside instead?

- If Hasan blames them... - Which he does.

...that bar is the symbol.

Same block, same target.

And an RPG would let him hit the bar from a distance.

He doesn't have to get close up, he just needs to be

high enough and clear enough.

He wants them to feel what he felt.

One second, everything normal,

next second, everything's on fire.

We're not looking for a guy in line with a gun,

we're looking for a firing position.

[dance music playing]

DANNY: That's the bar.

We're looking for a window

or a rooftop with a clear shot.

There. Danny.

Rooftop, parking garage.

He's concealed and he's got a clear shot at the bar.

That's got to be him. Let's go.

? ?

? ?

Hasan!

Boston police!

- Don't do it. - You're too late.

You pull that trigger...

...you're not just hitting the men who killed your sister.

You're hitting waitresses, bartenders,

innocent people on the sidewalk.

- They took my family! - Hey, hey, hey! Look at me.

You still have your brother.

Armen told us everything that happened, Hasan.

He's trying to help you.

He's trying to stop you from doing this.

Now, you can be mad at him

and you can swear that you're done with him.

But there's a bond between brothers,

and you can't break it.

And one day, you're gonna realize

your brother was just trying to help you,

the best way he knew how.

Look at me.

Got a brother.

You don't want to throw it away.

Hasan, he's lying in a hospital bed right now,

and he's still trying to help you.

Come on.

This is-is for Vesa!

No, no!

[people screaming, exclaiming]

- Hands behind your back. - Are the people okay?

- Danny, tell me they're okay. - [indistinct shouting, chatter]

DANNY: They're all right.

You missed,

thanks to my brother.

You okay?

Yeah.

[sirens wailing in distance]

To what do I owe this visit?

Dropping the murderous gamer fantasy, I hope?

I'm here to offer your client a deal.

- I'm listening. - Your client didn't call in

a vague noise complaint.

He impersonated a man with a heart condition

and told dispatch his son was homicidal.

He knew what kind of response that would bring.

- You can't prove that. - Transcripts from a live stream

show Blake mocking this man's heart condition.

He weaponized SWAT against a specific, vulnerable man.

The recording proves that he knew exactly what he was doing.

So, here's my offer.

Blake pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter

and reckless endangerment and waives appeal,

or we go to trial.

The charge is murder...

...and I will win.

She expects your answer tomorrow.

I always pictured Joey getting to grow up

around his Uncle Danny.

You know? Sunday dinners, ball games,

you teaching him all your bad habits.

Aw.

I have some very excellent bad habits.

And then the second he was born, you packed your bags.

You know, you could've

- talked to me about this. - I was so mad.

You were always there whether I wanted you to be or not,

and then, the second I wanted to ask you

about how to be a dad...

...what to do when Joey wouldn't sleep

or Eddie didn't want me to go back out into the street...

- ...you weren't there. - I couldn't.

I had to be here.

Sean needed me.

I know he did.

He still needs you.

When Sean came by HQ, I saw.

You guys are close like you never were before.

If that were me and Joey, I know now I would do the same thing.

I get it.

I just needed to see it, I guess.

Uh...

I'm sorry for taking it hard.

Don't be sorry.

I just never knew you felt this way.

And I'm always here for you.

Even from Boston.

They do have these things, they're new,

they're called cell phones.

- You can always call me on it, you know. - Yeah.

I'm proud of you.

As a brother, as a cop...

...and now as a dad.

I'm just better at busting chops

than saying it out loud, I guess.

You just said it.

And if, hey, you leaving New York was what

the Knicks needed to finally get a chip,

- Oh. Oh. - I-I think it was worth it.

- I think it was worth it. - Oh. Oh, my goodness.

- You don't think it was worth it? - You know what?

I should make your drive through these horrible streets.

[Jamie laughs]

EDWIN: To hear that

Dennis looked at Eugene and saw a problem to solve

and not a man to love, to sit with?

You know, the hardest part of aging

is fearing that you'll end up like that.

Sick, a burden, in somebody's way.

- Grandpa... - I don't ever

want you kids or Mae to feel stuck with me.

LENA: Never.

We would never feel that way.

Grandpa.

You are not a burden.

You're a blessing.

Remember what you used to tell me?

- We are all we need. - "We are all we need."

If there comes a day

where you can't climb the stairs...

...then we'll carry you.

Now, I might have to hit the gym first.

- Like you do. - [chuckles]

[both growl]

- [laughing] - SARAH: Every time.

SETH: That's very funny.

[indistinct chatter]

So, don't keep us hanging, Sean. Did you get it back?

This thing right here? Boom.

- Hey. - SEAN: And I cleaned it, by the way,

it's disinfected, it's cologne-sprayed.

I still think we should've burned your clothes

when you got back from the dumpster.

Never thought I would see the day when I'd be proud

of my son for dumpster diving.

- [laughs] - LENA: Mom.

Blake Snyder. He took the deal?

MAE: Yes. He'll plead guilty

to involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

There's no trial, no circus.

- But he still goes away. - Exactly.

- Mm-hmm. - And everything he did

will be on the record.

This way, we got justice for his dad

and we kept his privacy.

Any truth to the rumor that instead of suing BPD,

Wesley's going after Blake in civil court as well?

- I can neither confirm nor deny. - Mm...

- Got it. Got it. - That's a yes.

- [laughing] - SARAH: That is a yes.

[indistinct chatter]

I can see why you two love it here.

Family dinners, good food, bad jokes.

Yeah. Feels a little bit like home.

SARAH: So, we have news.

Rabbi Siegel

is not going to be able to marry us.

What happened?

Uh, well, because...

my mother is not Jewish

and I never fully converted,

so he can't.

SARAH: At first, it felt like rejection,

you know, of Seth.

Of you, Mom.

Of all that you and Lena did to join

this community that Dad loved.

Then I realized the reason that Rabbi Siegel

mattered so much wasn't his title.

It was that he welcomed you and Lena.

He made synagogue feel like home.

And then I realized...

...that idea went both ways.

When you started coming to Shabbat,

Grandpa, you did that for me.

So, the rabbi's no gave us an opportunity

to honor what Dad stood for.

So, Grandpa...

...will you marry us?

EDWIN: Uh...

[chuckles]

I thought you always wanted

a traditional Jewish wedding.

- I'm a Baptist reverend. - The most

traditional thing in the world is family.

Having the someone who brought this entire family together

up there with us

feels more right than anything.

What a blessing.

It would be my honor and privilege

to marry you.

- Let's toast to that. - Hey, how about it?

[laughs] L'chaim. Amen.

- L'chaim. - DANNY: L'chaim.

SEAN: L'chaim.

LENA: Amen.

JONAH: Sean?

Please get your wallet off the table.

- Now. - Yeah, I cleaned...

I told you. And it smells good.

JONAH: I've-I've told him four times.

- Four-plus times. - [overlapping chatter]
