Hello. Great to meet you.

(D-Day of the Wonder Coach meet-up)

Has it changed here?

Has MBC always been this nice?

I'd been here for "Infinity Challenge" and "I Live Alone."

Yes, I remember this place.

We rode the elevator here.

I remember now.

Let's relive those memories together.

Do we have to?

(Yeon Koung is quite familiar with MBC.)

Why do we have to retrace those memories?

Why are you making things awkward?

- Have you had lunch yet? - I had a protein shake for lunch.

- You had a protein shake? - After I retired,

I thought I should watch my weight, so I'm taking care of myself.

I work out too.

(The legendary 17-year-old who debuted as MVP of the overall championship.)

(And after 20 years,)

(she ended her athletic career with another MVP title.)

(But why is she here after her retirement?)

It's great to be back here at MBC.

We first met when it was still winter.

- Yes, it was cold. - Yes.

It was winter when we first met each other, and finally,

we're here together at MBC.

I can't believe we're doing this. Thank you.

- Did you read the articles? - I did.

(Yeon Koung reposted it on her social media too.)

- "A new challenge." - Yes, "A new challenge."

That's exactly what I said.

Stop spying on me. You sure are obsessed with me.

There was a comment on that article.

"Kim Yeon Koung is a real volleyball nut."

"She's a volleyball addict."

You just retired from volleyball after such a long career,

and your first move after that...

- is this show. - Right.

People are very curious about why.

To be honest,

I've always wanted to do something meaningful.

I'm hoping to contribute to the development of volleyball.

All national team players, both male and female,

are facing some difficulties right now.

So if I could help volleyball grow,

I'm willing to give it a try.

- Do you have any specific concerns? - Concerns?

First, we would need more future players...

who want to play volleyball professionally.

And we would also need a system...

to actually train those players, which I think we don't have at this point.

Is it the second division?

We'd need to establish a second division,

so that players who cannot play in the first division...

can play in the second division and have opportunities...

to grow and move up to the first division.

We need all of those systems.

How about baseball?

They have a second division in baseball.

Among the four major sports in Korea,

volleyball is the only sport that doesn't have a second division.

We're in a bit of an in-between stage. It is a professional sport,

but we still have a long way to go.

As a pro league.

There's no lower team to go to, so they end up getting dropped.

There's no second chance. The players are just immediately cut.

They might be good players,

but their professional careers could come to an end so easily.

Players at a certain level could join a corporate team,

or find other ways, but as far as I know,

we only have very few corporate teams in Korea.

So the players don't really have many places to go.

We also gave it a lot of thought after we heard that,

and we thought you could become a coach yourself.

(Yeon Koung as a coach)

You could become a coach,

and establish a team yourself...

as a solution.

I know. Exactly.

You have experience as a coach, right?

Not for long, though.

You established the KYK Foundation,

- and your tactic was "to enjoy," right? - Yes, enjoy.

(Her tactic was "to enjoy.")

That's actually my least favorite word.

- Oh, really? - You should give it your all.

Not a fan of pointless pep talks. Every play should have...

a real tactic and strategy.

There should be a reason for a tactic,

so the players can actually put it into action. Pep talks come after that.

But I'd hate to just be like,

"You feeling alright today? Had a big meal?"

"Ate plenty of eel?"

"All that eel should give you some power. Come on!"

"Let's do this!" That's just not my thing.

Not really a fan of that. You do need that sometimes,

but I'd prefer to have a strategy that actually makes sense.

Setting up real, meaningful tactics...

is probably the way I'm going to do it.

- You already gave it so much thought. - You think so?

You already thought things through.

Well, I couldn't just sleep all day.

I had to get prepared, so I gave it some thought.

Anyway, we thought it would be great for you to start a team.

And our ultimate goal is...

to become the eighth pro team in the league.

(The eighth pro team in the league)

Excuse me?

- That's our goal? - Yes, we decided to go with that.

- But we can't create the second division, - Yes, of course.

so maybe we could build a team that could lead to a second division one day.

(Currently, there are seven pro teams in the Korean Women's Volleyball League.)

(Could Yeon Koung's team's name stand next to them?)

This is way bigger than I thought.

The eighth pro team. You think it's doable?

I think it is.

Coach Yeon Koung, you can totally achieve that.

Pardon?

Your history shows that...

you've always taken bottom-ranked teams and made them into champions.

Your record is unbelievable.

Please stop pressuring me.

- I mean, I know this is a show. - You turned the weakest team in Japan...

- and got them their very first victory. - Yes, please stop doing that.

- I'm sure it'll work out. - Yes.

Why did I always join losing teams?

(Joking)

I think the eighth pro team is an achievable goal.

(Concerned)

To make our team the eighth pro team,

we would need a great staff team to support us.

We would need three or four people on the coaching team,

and two to three performance analysts.

We need a couple of managers, of course, and four to five trainers.

If we were to hold a tryout...

to select the players,

I was thinking we could recruit between 14 and 16 people.

We would also need a place to practice,

a vehicle for transportation,

a weight room,

and a dorm...

for as long as possible.

If we were to go to an overseas training camp,

I was thinking we might need a private plane.

Like I said, we can start by playing against high school champions...

- and move on to corporate teams. - Yes, right.

After that, we can play against...

the fringe pro teams. If we can beat them,

I think that would be really great.

I see.

Something wrong?

He looks exhausted all of a sudden.

- Right. - Too much, right?

I need this program to go well.

I need you to do a phenomenal job.

I'm counting on you to get a private plane...

and get us to go to an overseas training camp.

(Laughing)

We need to enjoy!

Or if things don't go the way we want, we can go fill up on eel.

(Eel can be a solution too.)

(Coach signing in May)

Hello, everyone. We're finally here together.

I've prepared a simple PowerPoint.

My goal is to beat every team we face.

We should also think about the tryout,

and how we can see as many players as possible.

I've thought of a few ideas.

To recruit the team players...

(The player recruitment was posted on a social media platform.)

(Anyone with a passion to play on the professional stage can apply,)

(including independent players not under contract with a pro club,)

(retired players, and pro volleyball prospects.)

(Overwhelming attention and an outpouring of applications)

(Among countless applicants,)

(those who were selected had a two-day tryout.)

We are testing players by position to select 14 players.

(Who will be the elite 14 to join Team Yeon Koung on this journey?)

I see so many talented players. I'm hopeful.

(A few days later)

(Team Yeon Koung is ready to embark on its journey.)

(Squeaking)

(Lee Jin, Daegu City, released in 2023)

(Lee Na Yeon, a free agent, retired in 2024)

(Koo Sol, a free agent, released in 2025)

I told you that you'd get in.

(Setter: the conductor of the court)

(Acts like the coach on the court, directing the attacks)

(They toss the ball to the hitters, connecting it to make points.)

(The perfect partner for the spiker)

(Setters: Koo Sol, Lee Jin, Lee Na Yeon)

I want to return to the pro league.

I'd played volleyball so far to join a pro team,

so it's disappointing that I couldn't show all I've got.

I still have a lot to show.

My former team was suffering financially,

But I'm still playing volleyball because I like it so much.

I really love the moment I touch the ball as I arrive at the court.

I'd like to join a pro team again and learn many things.

(Kim Na Hee, Suwon City, released in 2024)

Look at her jersey. It's so cute.

(Moon Myoung-Hwa, Daegu City, released in 2024)

(Kim Hyeon Jeong, a free agent, released in 2025)

(Middle Blocker: A solid wall at the net)

(The team's gatekeeper in charge of defense and quick attacks)

(Middle Blockers: Kim Hyeon Jeong, Kim Na Hee, Moon Myoung-Hwa)

(Choi Su Bin, free agent, retired in 2023)

(Koo Hye In, Daegu City, released in 2025)

- So cute. - Right.

(Libero: The team's last line of defense)

(They throw their bodies to keep the ball alive)

(Liberos: Choi Su Bin, Koo Hye In)

(Baek Chae Rim, Suwon City, released in 2024)

(Han Song Hee, Pohang Sports Council, released in 2022)

(Enkhsoyol, Mokpo Science University, formerly on the Mongolian national team)

She's cute.

(Bulgantamir, Mokpo Science University, formerly on the Mongolian national team)

(A Mongolian teammate from Mokpo Science University)

(Outside Hitter: The team's anchor)

(An all-rounder capable of both offense and defense)

(Outside Hitters: Enkhsoyol, Bulgantamir, Baek Chae Rim, Han Song Hee)

I'm Enkhsoyol, and I'm from Mongolia.

I'm ineligible to join both professional and semi-professional teams...

due to nationality issues.

I never even imagined myself playing...

in the Korean league,

but if things go well here, it could be a chance to join a Korean pro team.

So I thought, "I got in!"

"I should learn as much as I can there."

I don't mind how intense the training is.

I came here because I wanted to play for a Korean pro team.

My role model is Kim Yeon Koung.

Do you know who the coach of this team is?

(Doesn't know)

- It's Coach Kim Yeon Koung. - What?

(Choking up at the unexpected mention of the name)

Those are happy tears, right?

(Being here must've been a lifelong dream for some.)

There she is.

(Yoon Young In, Suwon City, no pro-league experience)

(Opposite spiker: The team's closer)

(The key attacker on the right side of the court)

(Opposite Spiker: Yoon Young In)

Hi, I'm Yoon Young In, and I'm in my eighth year with Suwon City.

Ever since my school days, I've had a dream,

which is to go pro.

In my heart, I sometimes wondered...

what it would be like to play on the professional stage.

This is such a precious opportunity.

It's my dream and someone else's dream as well,

so I don't want to take it lightly.

I hope it's a chance for me to make a fresh start.

Gosh.

(They all came here with a desperate dream.)

Who'll take this last spot?

(There's only one spot left.)

(Who will be the final piece to complete the team?)

(All cheering)

(Pyo Seung Ju, free agent, retired in 2025)

You're all here.

The star always comes last.

You look so cool.

- Hi. - Hello.

(She's back after five months.)

(Her class never fades.)

She runs the game differently.

She can join a pro team and the national team any time,

so I was shocked to see her here.

They're all here.

(Successfully recruited 14 elite players.)

(But the door opens again!)

What?

(Boo Seung Kwan, the team manager)

- Nice to meet you. - Hello!

(Fascinated by each other)

- Nice to meet you. - Hi.

(The world-class idol singer)

(The main vocalist of SEVENTEEN, Seung Kwan)

I've been a fan of V-League for 20 years.

I've been a CheongKwanJang Red Sparks fan since the league's foundation in 2005.

People think I'm just a fan of the Red Sparks,

but I love volleyball itself. Last year,

- I watched almost every game. - Really?

I watched many matches on TV.

I've even made some friends who love volleyball too.

I also know the play styles and strengths of the other teams well.

I probably know every player who has ever played in the pro league.

I see so many familiar faces now,

and seeing Seung Ju here feels different...

since she played until last year.

There's also Na Yeon, and Jin is here too.

I see Su Bin, Na Hee,

and Sol too. There you are, Myoung-Hwa.

Thank you for recognizing me.

You're all like celebrities to me.

As the manager of this team,

I will bring vitality to everyone.

(So reliable)

Now, let's welcome the coaching staff!

(The coaching staff enters)

(Living up to the rookie coach's ambition)

(All entering together)

(In charge of coaching and training)

Meet coaches Kim Tae Young, Lee Yeon Ju, and Jeong Wu Seong.

(Kim Tae Young, Lee Yeon Ju, Jeong Wu Seong)

(In charge of opponent analysis and strategy planning)

Now for the performance analysts. Welcome Nam Ye Rin and Chae Sang Min.

(Nam Ye Rin, Chae Sang Min)

I'm in charge of the players' fitness. I handle strength training,

injury management, and rehabilitation.

Here are trainers Lee Sang Hwa, Jeong Jong Il, and Park Ye Jin.

(Lee Sang Hwa, Jeong Jong Il, Park Ye Jin)

I've worked with Yeon Koung since her first year on a pro team.

(He looked after her for 20 years from 2005 to 2025.)

We were in the same team for 20 years until she retired.

(29 years of experience)

(30 years of experience)

(The two trainers have been close for 30 years.)

(Yeon Koung's best coaching staff)

Next up.

She's the leader who will guide this team.

Coach Kim Yeon Koung, please enter.

After 20 years as an athlete,

she is back as a new coach.

Coach Kim Yeon Koung is entering from the second floor!

- Awesome! - She's so cool.

(Kim Yeon Koung, the new coach)

(She will lead 14 athletes...)

- So cool. - I like her!

(as a new coach.)

She's really charismatic.

(A little embarrassed)

Check out her aura.

This isn't easy.

I can't see her face.

She's literally glowing.

(Her first steps as a coach)

This is not an easy task.

(The legendary volleyball empress)

(A new head coach)

We have the players, the head coach, and the coaching staff...

all gathered as a team.

Now that the team is complete,

we'll reveal the name of our team.

Let's see what it is!

The video turned out great, right?

I got goosebumps.

Our players may be underdogs for now,

but they will rise to be a wonder.

They're the Victorious Wonder Dogs.

(The Victorious Wonder Dogs)

Do you like the name, Coach?

I love the logo.

If you look closely, it's in the shape of a volleyball.

And they added an element of underdogs...

by combining a dog's image with the volleyball.

That's the part I like about it.

I even got goosebumps when I looked at the logo.

- You got goosebumps. - Yeah, I did.

And so the founding ceremony will...

What?

What?

(Salary per team, Pro team: 3,000,000 dollars)

What's that?

(Wonder Dogs: 200,000 dollars)

(Total salaries per team)

(Yang Hyo Jin: 800,000 dollars)

The following is a ranking table of salaries based on FD ratings.

(Rank A: 100,000 dollars or more, Rank B: less than 100,000 dollars)

(Rank C: less than 50,000 dollars, Rank F: less than 20,000 dollars)

Salaries represent skills.

We will now reveal the salary ratings of the Wonder Dogs players.

(Only the income earned as a volleyball player is included.)

(Current Salary Rating, Koo Sol)

(Koo Sol)

(Koo Sol: F)

(Lee Na Yeon)

(Lee Na Yeon)

We heard you gave up 160,000 dollars...

and retired in less than a year of your contract.

I guess I ran away.

I got the yips while playing.

Even when I was just holding the ball,

I couldn't breathe and felt like my whole hand was twisting.

But time didn't wait for me to overcome that and get back in shape.

So I eventually fell behind others.

I wanted to play volleyball.

I used to love it so much.

It's a shame.

I wish I could enjoy playing volleyball again like I used to.

(Kim Hyeon Jeong)

I was being thrown to the bottom.

It felt like they were saying, "You belong down there."

So I didn't feel great.

Yet, it motivated me a lot.

Looking back,

I guess that gave me more of a reason to try harder here.

(Do you think they're getting fair salaries?)

Of course not.

They're competitive enough to join and play for a pro team.

I think they just weren't given a chance.

I believe...

that we should increase their salaries to be close to those of the pro teams.

I have to try.

(We interviewed volleyball personnel to evaluate Wonder Dogs objectively.)

(Cha Sang Hyun, former head coach of KIXX Volleyball Club)

(Lee Jung Chul, former head coach of Altos Volleyball Club)

(Song Hyun Il, journalist for volleyball magazine)

(Kim Jeong Ah, performance analyst of the youth national team)

We must evaluate their performance objectively.

(Lee Na Yeon)

During her prime,

she was even viewed as the next generation's national athlete.

We can all agree on her skills.

Na Yeon is skillful enough.

If we're talking about her mental state,

she fails to meet our expectations of her.

She struggled to maintain composure on the court,

which was a serious issue.

The same problems with her mental state might happen again.

We have many concerns about her.

(Lee Jin)

If we consider ball speed only in regard to her tossing skill,

she's one of the top players.

- She tosses really fast. - It's very quick.

- Doesn't she also have good showmanship? - Yes, she does.

She can gain popularity with the public and is also skilled.

But she was often talked about because of her looks.

She received too much attention despite her young age.

So she mistook her fame for her skills.

- That's my opinion. - I agree.

That breaks my heart.

(What was it like to watch your evaluation video?)

I said I wouldn't cry.

Many people said that about me when I was on a pro team.

Because a lot of people judge us.

I didn't even have many chances to get on the court,

so people said I only cared about my looks.

My feelings were hurt.

(Pyo Seung Ju)

Why is this player here?

- Her skills look flawless. - Yes, absolutely.

- In terms of skill, she's way ahead. - Well, to be exact,

she used to be way ahead.

Whether it was her decision or not,

she did retire suddenly.

If all seven pro teams really consider you a key player,

you'd be at the top of the pyramid. But for the players...

whose abilities are just so-so,

they get stuck somewhere in between.

They're just stuck in the middle.

Other teams don't desperately want her.

(Not an attractive pick)

They're just saying whatever comes to mind.

During my entire volleyball career,

I never thought I was a good player.

I always felt like I wasn't good enough. Just run-of-the-mill.

I've always thought that,

and then that was exactly how I was evaluated as an FA.

Even I think that...

if I were a really good player,

I would've been able to join another team.

So I wrote in my retirement letter that, even though it wasn't very flashy,

I want to be remembered as a player who always did her best.

("My career may not have been glamorous, but I've always worked hard.")

Of course, it's annoying and frustrating,

but that's a label I can't shake off.

I actually accept that.

Here comes Coach Cha's sore spot.

Moon Myoung-Hwa.

(Moon Myoung-Hwa)

That name makes me want a drink.

I know better than anyone that she is...

smart, intelligent, and hard-working. But she's slow.

I once said to a trainer that if they could make her faster,

I would do whatever it takes to put them at the top of the pyramid.

- I begged them to make her faster. - But they couldn't, right?

Even personalized training failed.

I can't even criticize her. She works harder than anyone.

But she's slow.

There's nothing bad you can say about her. She works so hard, but she's slow.

(She's just slow.)

(Kim Na Hee)

She's 36 years old? Considering her age,

- being on the court wouldn't be easy. - It could be risky.

To begin with, she was never recruited into a pro team.

She doesn't have the physical strength to last on the court.

She's just too short to join a pro team.

- She can't even score on a free ball. - Right, not even an easy one.

She doesn't have a standout skill.

Apart from her height, I don't know what other advantages she has.

Oh, gosh.

Here she is.

- Oh, dear. - Here she is.

(Coach Kim Yeon Koung)

They're evaluating Coach Yeon Koung?

I bet they'll have nothing to say.

What would they even say?

If they say something bad, I'm going to call them right up.

- Go ahead, Coach. - Yes, you first.

Why are you throwing me under the bus?

(Pushing each other to go first)

Well, this is a candid assessment session.

What do you think, Coach?

Well...

(Deep breath)

The job of a player and a coach...

are completely different.

Well, I know that.

They say that a good player doesn't necessarily make a good coach.

If she's seeing this as just another show, she's deeply mistaken.

If she can be a real coach and a mentor,

I'm not quite sure yet.

If her goal is to be the real leader of this team,

I hope she'll be really serious.

With all her heart.

For the many fans who love volleyball,

I hope she's really serious about this.

(The Wonder Dogs' odds of winning)

Honestly, I'm not even expecting 50 percent.

Even one or two wins won't be easy.

It's all up to how they prepare themselves.

Coach Yeon Koung,

What do you think?

You heard the evaluations of volleyball experts.

I think we should evaluate those experts as well.

Whether I'm a real leader or not?

I'm not even sure they know enough to be asking that question.

- Feels so good to hear that. - As for our players,

I'm sure they have their strengths and weaknesses.

(Staring)

Myoung-Hwa, you're too slow.

- But I'm a real speedster. - You're too slow, Myoung-Hwa.

(Let's find out...)

(how she really felt about the evaluation.)

I guess I'm a fake leader.

I guess they don't count it if it's a variety show.

(Are you upset?)

No, of course not.

I'm not even a real leader, you know.

- Right. - I'm okay.

(Clearly upset)

Players of our team, the Victorious Wonder Dogs, are underdogs.

The ultimate goal of the Victorious Wonder Dogs is...

(The eighth pro team)

to make the eighth pro team in the league.

Until we find someone who wants to be a team owner,

you have to survive by proving your worth.

This season...

is going to be your first test toward our goal.

We're going to play against seven teams.

A pro team.

A corporate league champion.

A university champion.

A girls' high school champion.

A Japanese high school champion.

A pro runner-up team.

And lastly,

A pro league overall champion.

(The seven teams the Wonder Dogs will play against)

You will play against these seven teams,

and must secure more wins than losses.

If you lose more than three games,

the Victorious Wonder Dogs...

will shut down.

The first team the Wonder Dogs...

will play against...

will now be revealed.

Our first opponent is...

the girls' high school champion.

Jeonju Geunyoung Girls' High School.

(Their volleyball team was founded in 1975,)

(and they are currently the number one girls' high school volleyball team.)

(Their players were even chosen...)

(as the first overall selections in the 2025 draft.)

(After the legendary players, Jang Yoon Hee,)

(Lee So Young,)

(and many other rising stars...)

(are taking over the court.)

I'm Choi Wu Young, the chief coach of Jeonju Geunyoung Girls' High School.

I'm Coach Yang Cheol Ho.

Geunyoung Girls' High has two coaches,

and thus, our strength is double.

The difference between 47 years of coaching experience and none is huge.

Now that she's about to make her debut as a coach,

I think she needs to learn more.

You can't ignore years of experience.

Coach Kim's team hasn't...

had enough time to build fitness...

and coordination,

but we've been training...

and working on teamwork consistently.

Our strength lies in solid fundamentals.

Our players have agility, make good decisions,

and know how to read games.

We've played against pro and semi-pro teams,

so taking on retired players should be doable.

We won't lose.

- With our high fitness, we'll beat them. - We'll win.

The match against Jeonju Geunyoung Girls' High...

will be held next Thursday.

We actually don't have enough time.

We're in trouble.

Geunyoung Girls' High...

(Mental breakdown)

They're definitely not an easy team,

so I thought I should give it my all.

We have to win.

I think we should focus on winning for now and worry about the rest later.

I need to implement my style of volleyball with the team quickly...

and run the game.

I'll prepare well to build the team properly.

(Episode 1, "Real Coach Kim Yeon Koung")

(Ansan, Gyeonggi-do)

It feels strange to make my coaching debut in my hometown.

- Did everyone sleep well yesterday? - Yes.

Let's take a look at the strategy of Geunyoung Girls' High School.

(Wonder Dogs' Training Schedule, Morning: video meeting)

I prefer analytical volleyball.

Since we have to play with one sign, one style,

and one idea,

I'm preparing a meeting...

so that everyone can understand and play with the same mindset.

We'll have a look at their attack patterns.

Most of their attacks come from the left side.

The ball often comes to position four.

It's called attack distribution. Do you know what that is?

- No. - It means the spots...

where they hit the ball most frequently.

They hit most from this area,

so our blockers need to position themselves right here.

(Blocking: To send the ball back to the other side by jumping and blocking it)

There's one more reason I'm telling you to stay at the end here.

Come up.

Let's say you're blocking there, and I'm a spiker.

I'm about to hit the ball cross-court,

so you positioned yourself here in advance.

You're positioned here, and you can play a trick here.

You can play a trick here,

as if you're trying to block along the line.

And the spiker will think,

"She's blocking along the line."

But you will actually block...

to the side.

Our goal is to make sure...

they don't figure out our tricks until the end of the game.

I think my extensive overseas experience as a player...

really helps me when coaching the team.

I prefer efficient...

and meaningful plays.

You need to understand the whole plan...

in order to grasp and execute the style of volleyball we want to play.

I'm having an enormous number of meetings,

and through them, we continually discuss not only our plays...

but also programs for the players.

We're already prepared on how to receive and hit the ball.

I'm sure the staff members are already very tired.

I think they'll say it's really tough in their individual interview.

It's way too tough.

(Yes, it's way too tough.)

It's really hard.

Did you say, "Stress?"

(They meant it from the bottom of their hearts.)

I think so.

(Looking away)

It's not defense.

(Regarding the system, even the coaches can't get away with anything with her.)

Watch.

(The roaring for advanced volleyball)

Who in the world hits it like that?

(She's like a leopard in Kilimanjaro)

I told my coaching staff to ask me questions anytime...

and that they should understand things...

in order to help the players do the same.

That's what I've been telling them.

(You know what I'm saying, right?)

(Wonder Dogs' Training Schedule, Afternoon: ball drills)

When you do it, think a little more.

You have to feel every move while you play.

Just swinging without thinking won't make you better.

- Understand? - Yes.

Keep paying attention...

to every fingertip...

- and every toe. - Okay.

We're going to start blocking drills now. Everyone, come inside.

I told you to stay near the line!

Come! Come this way now!

(Enkhsoyol left the position she was supposed to hold.)

I told you to stay here during rallies too.

- Come here and start from here. - Okay.

- Play as you think. Stay near the line. - Okay.

That's where you'll start.

Keep thinking.

The harder it gets, the more you need to think.

Many of my training methods are...

designed to make it obvious...

when a player isn't thinking while playing.

I believe...

that you have to play thoughtfully to keep improving.

"See what's happening right now."

"Hit the ball this way."

I keep telling the players such things to make them think continuously.

(Enkhsoyol didn't block the ball.)

Again.

Why didn't you jump to block it?

- Enkhsoyol, you should block this side. - Okay.

(Sol didn't block the ball.)

- Why didn't you jump? - She was too close.

If you keep doing things your way,

do it somewhere else.

I'm telling you what to do, right?

- How did I say to start playing here? - From the side.

So, why are you doing it on your own?

We've been doing this so many times. Don't you get it yet?

We've been at this for an hour, and you still don't get it? Sol!

I'm sorry!

High plan shoulder taps!

This is a complete mess!

There were too many mistakes happening,

including ones that shouldn't have happened,

and they kept leading to more errors.

I felt the players needed a push...

to recognize the seriousness of their mistakes,

so I decided...

to have a Sang Hwa session.

(When the Coach blows the whistle,)

It's a Sang Hwa session.

Guys, get down on your knees for push-ups.

(Sang Hwa is already here.)

Sang Hwa session.

Get ready for the plank.

(For mental prep and quick-strength training)

Get ready for 20 jumping jacks!

When I played under a foreign coach,

we did similar things.

Players need these kinds of sessions...

to realize that they've made big mistakes...

and they should work hard to fix them.

Are you still doing it the old way today?

Your performance in the last rally was a disaster!

(Coach Kim's new style is here!)

Think while you play!

Use your brain!

Take it in!

You got it?

(She's emphasized structured play countless times.)

(Adapting to the new system)

- Hit it! - Sorry.

Stop apologizing and do it properly first!

How was it? Tell me how it was!

Keep blocking like this.

(Passion at its max)

So many coaches drink often...

and smoke a lot, right?

I kind of understand them,

although I've only had a tiny glimpse yet.

(Gym)

(Clinic)

(Dormitory)

(And...)

(their teamwork is gradually coming together.)

Nice.

(Wait right there, Geunyoung Girls' High.)

That's it!

(The short yet intense training is over.)

(The day of their fateful first match)

(The die has been cast.)

What?

Oh, my!

What's that?

- What is that? - Is it...

(Coach Kim's special request)

We would also need a vehicle for transportation.

(The Victorious Wonder Dogs' team bus)

I can't believe this.

Why did they put the word "New Head Coach?"

(Kim Yeon Koung, the new head coach)

Why is there my name on it?

Come on.

What is this?

(Rubbing)

Could you look over here?

(Acting modest)

- This looks great. - Yeah.

We just need to do well in volleyball.

- What do you think, Hey In? - I'll do my best.

(All for the victory!)

We have everything. All that's left is the game.

(Jeonju Gymnasium)

(Wonder Dogs' locker room)

I'm getting goosebumps.

It is mind-blowing.

Awesome!

- I'm number 2. - So amazing.

I'm suddenly getting chills.

But it's cool to see the room designed like this.

(The Victorious Wonder Dogs' locker room)

- Look at this! - I like it!

(Written by Manager Boo)

You've got this!

(Manager Boo even showed up during training a few days ago.)

Nice!

(Running...)

(and running all the time)

(He's here helping with whatever they need.)

(Trying his best as the team's new manager)

(Exhausted)

(He shows up first again today.)

(Starting from arranging uniforms,)

(he finishes setting up snacks, along with red ginseng gifts.)

They must start strong with this.

Please help us win.

We even came to Jeonju.

Coach Kim will be so mad if we lose.

(We must win.)

(The big match is near.)

(Approaching)

I'm here.

(Chuckling)

I love your uniforms!

So is the locker room.

Today,

I'll announce the starting lineup.

For the outside hitters,

it will be Enkhsoyol and Baek Chae Rim.

You two will be outside hitters.

For the middle blocker,

Kim Na Hee and Moon Myoung-Hwa will go.

And Yoon Young In is the opposite hitter.

- Koo Hye In is the libero. - Okay.

Next.

(The setter of the lineup is...)

Lee Na Yeon is the setter.

You're in the starting lineup.

"Why am I chosen?"

I was half excited and half nervous.

"I may be anxious, but let's focus on my excitement."

That's what I had in mind in order to control myself.

(Underdogs' first flight)

(And Kim Yeon Koung's first step as a head coach)

(To communicate with performance analysts,)

(she has a walkie-talkie on.)

(The solid Team Yeon Koung enters.)

(Manager Boo is also ready.)

I'm with Lee Suk Ja for today's match with Geunyoung Girls' High School.

- Hello. - Hello.

Kim Yeon Koung will debut as a head coach today.

- That feels different from an athlete. - It's way different.

"Can my athletes follow my plan properly?"

It's the head coach's role to make that happen.

So it won't be an easy job.

Players of the Victorious Wonder Dogs...

have their own backgrounds.

Some went through pains,

and others are rebuilding their dream to be in a pro league.

But that doesn't mean The Wonder Dogs have endless opportunities.

That's right. We have rules.

Out of seven games, they must win four to maintain their team.

What happens if they don't win four games?

They'll be disbanded.

Then what about us?

So Wonder Dogs must perform well in this match.

Of course they should.

By the way, today is their first match.

Their first opposing team is...

Geunyoung Girls' High.

They are energetic and are full of a fearless spirit.

Here they come.

- They are here. - Hello.

- Hello. - Hello.

Go strong, Geunyoung!

- Let's go! - Yeah!

(Their fighting spirit ignites.)

They won the National Middle and High School Volleyball Championship.

They're one of the top teams, also consisting of players under 18.

- Jung Sol Min is their libero. - She's the captain.

(Selected as the first among liberos in the 2025 draft pick)

(Jin Soo Min, the outside hitter)

Number 14 is short but has a solid technique.

Unfortunately, in the first match,

Pyo Seung Ju, the ace of Wonder Dogs, is injured.

She won't be playing today's game as she needs some time to recover.

Wait, Coach.

(Seung Ju gets injured accidentally during training.)

I have a bad feeling.

It's a tear even if it's minor.

(She stops training in an emergency.)

I was really enjoying the game.

The ball came fast, and I believed I could also make it.

"I knew it. I shouldn't have enjoyed volleyball."

That's what I thought a lot.

I was sorry for the team that I couldn't help them from the start.

As if I was bothering them.

Geunyoung Girls' High is Coach Kim's first opponent.

Yet, they are not a team to be underestimated.

I'm sorry!

My bad.

(Back and forth)

Oh, I'm so sorry!

(The warmup is as fierce as the actual game.)

Yang Cheol Ho is the head coach of Geunyoung Girls' High.

He has experience of winning the V-League.

That's right.

No player may outperform Kim Yeon Koung in our country.

But in terms of coaching, he's much more superior than she.

Coach Choi Woo Young has led Geunyoung High School for a long time.

The two elite coaches elevated their team to the top...

will compete with Kim Yeon Koung, whose career in coaching has just started.

For the debut match of a new head coach,

she has to go against two experienced coaches.

Mr. Yang is here.

Hello.

- Coach Kim. - You lost so much weight.

- Your girls are so good, by the way. - What do you mean?

Numbers 7 and 14 play well.

They struggled in receiving, though.

The middle blocker is the one often receiving the ball.

How do you know that?

I watched them, of course.

I can't come here unprepared.

- We can't lose. - Of course.

Everyone wants to win the match.

Sir.

- I'll be leaving, sir. - Sure. See you later.

Good luck.

Coach Kim is entering the court.

In Geunyoung Girls' High, many are set to go to a pro league.

They may be ambitious to show what they have.

On the other hand, some of the Wonder Dogs players...

have experienced the harsh reality of the pro league.

They must be very nervous deep down.

(They have suffered losses.)

If we don't play well, we're going to get shut down.

I have nothing to lose.

The first game of Coach Yeon Koung...

is about to unfold.

Let's take a look at the Wonder Dogs' lineup first.

Outside hitter, Enkhsoyol.

Middle blocker, Moon Myoung-Hwa.

Opposite hitter, Yoon Young In.

Outside hitter, Baek Chae Rim.

Middle blocker, Kim Na Hee.

Setter, Lee Na Yeon.

Libero, Koo Hye In.

Their opponent is Jeonju Geunyoung Girls' High School.

Setter, Ban Ye Bin.

Outside hitter, Jin Soo Min.

Opposite hitter, Oh Eun Chae.

Middle blocker, Yoo Da Eun.

Outside hitter, Kim Yoon Ha.

Middle blocker, Lee Da On.

Libero, Jung Sol Min.

Like I told you, their play style is short floater serves.

Don't forget the plans and strategies we went through, okay?

- Yes, coach. - Yes.

Let's communicate and have fun.

- On three! - Let's go!

- Let's do this! - Let's do this!

- Okay! - We can do this!

- Let's go! - Let's do this!

Starting with Jeonju Geunyoung Girls' High School's serve,

we'll kick off the first-ever game of the Wonder Dogs.

Remember, floating serves.

- Know what I mean, Enkhsoyol? - Yes, coach.

- Watch out for the short serve. - Got it.

Let's go, Wonder Dogs!

We got this! Let's go!

Let's do this!

This is the start of the first set,

the first ball of play.

- Players must be very nervous right now. - Of course, for sure.

(First serve by Ban Ye Bin)

Set one is underway.

She missed the ball.

Hey!

What did I say about their serve, Enkhsoyol?

- Short. - And float.

I told you it'd be a floater.

You need to move around, not just fast.

- Got it? - Yes.

The serve was perfectly aimed at Enkhsoyol.

- It was a target serve. - Yes.

Enkhsoyol is strong on offense,

but like we said earlier, she needs to work on her passing more.

And the opposing team hit her with a target serve.

First, we need to find the serve rhythm,

so target Enkhsoyol when the situation is right.

(A targeted serve on Enkhsoyol)

- Got it? - Yes.

We need to aim for the weak passes.

(The veteran coach's tactic is paying off from the start.)

I told you it'd be a floater.

You need to move around, not just fast.

- Got it? - Yes.

- You know what I mean? - Yes.

Floating serves.

(Another serve from Geunyoung Girls' High School)

The score is one to zero.

(Did they make the pass?)

Lee Da On's setter dump!

(Scrambling save)

They saved it.

A spike!

(No way!)

Passed on.

(Barely keeping it alive)

Hit it!

Spike by Jin Soo Min!

- All right. - Ball is out.

(Thank goodness.)

Sorry, Hye In.

It's okay. We're okay.

The Wonder Dogs scored their first point since their establishment.

It's a 1 to 1 tie.

(The first one to serve for the Wonder Dogs is...)

Moon Myoung-Hwa's serve.

Darn it!

She served into the net.

(A serving error)

So close.

That was not close.

That was very close.

Geunyoung Girls' High School leads 2 to 1.

- Nice serve, Jin Soo Min! - Nice serve, Jin Soo Min!

Here she is.

Geunyoung Girls' High School's ace. Jin Soo Min.

Let's focus!

Just pop it up. I'll take the set.

Okay.

Watch out for the floater.

Move around. Move a lot.

(Another bad reception)

Ace by Jin Soo Min!

I told you to move, Enkhsoyol.

Why aren't you moving around?

Okay, coach.

Her answer is clear, at least.

It's thee to one now.

(Another serve by Jin Soo Min)

(Finally, a successful reception)

That was a good reception.

A high ball.

Spike!

(Blocked)

(A powerful spike)

Up it goes, aiming for the middle!

She missed.

Okay!

- Geunyoung Girls' High School leads... - That was Yoo Da Eun's play.

The players from Geunyoung Girls' High School are pretty powerful.

Their offense is looking strong.

That's right.

Compared to Geunyoung Girls' High School,

Wonder Dogs players are quite tense.

They seem a bit stiff.

(Three serves in a row)

(Jin Soo Min)

- Nice serve, Jin Soo Min. - Nice serve, Jin Soo Min.

(Nice receive)

Yes, carry on!

To the left,

and she sent it over!

(Easy)

Ban Ye Bin is back on defense.

The ball is tossed.

(Kim Yoon Ha's spike)

Open spike!

Sorry.

Let's carry on.

That's a point!

Geunyoung Girls' High School is off to a fierce start.

It's five to one.

We're in big trouble.

What do we do?

I felt like we were lost on the court.

We needed to find our rhythm again,

but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Which direction should we go?

Things got a bit complicated in my mind.

Jin Soo Min on a serving run.

This is already her fourth serve.

This time, she couldn't get it over the net.

(The bleeding finally stops.)

Let's stay calm.

Don't let your guard down.

Nice serve!

(A golden chance to close the gap)

(Yoon Young In's serve)

(Solid defense)

Nice pass.

Spike on the received ball!

They saved it.

(Unstable sequence)

They sent it back over.

It's in the opponent's court.

They passed the ball,

and Yoo Da Eun spikes!

Wait, timeout!

(Was that off the block and out?)

(If it touched the arm, it's a point lost for the Wonder Dogs.)

No, timeout!

- She touched it! - That was a block touch!

(The officials say...)

(no touch on that play.)

Great job!

(Thank goodness)

- All right. - Nice play.

They called it a no-touch.

- Wasn't it a touch? - Check the replay!

It was a touch.

Let's ask for a challenge.

- Should we press it? - Press it.

A video review request is being made.

(Would 47 years of combined experience be right?)

The ball did come up a bit short.

(It touched the net, not the arm.)

Yes, it's clear.

(Point for Wonder Dogs)

- Nice! - Yes!

Good move!

It clipped the net and landed out.

It's five to three now.

- Let's not be hasty. - Stay calm.

We can't keep going like this.

We need something more powerful.

Na Yeon.

Their hitters are moving better than we expected,

- so go with a long set. - Yes, coach.

- Let's raise the tempo. - Got it.

Coach Yeon Koung pulled Na Yeon aside...

and told her to go with longer sets.

(Yoon Young In's serve)

A fast pass to the left.

They tossed it up.

Running up front for an attack!

- Yes, that's the way to go! - That was a nice play.

(First attack point in the team's history)

The score is now five to four.

(Way to go!)

(Just like Coach Yeon Koung ordered...)

Coach Yeon Koung's new tactic worked.

(The opponents got lost in the longer set.)

That's Kim Na Hee's signature play.

She's great with quick attacks off her speed.

Her footwork is as fast as Brazil's soccer players.

(With Wonder Dogs' fast steps,)

(the opposing team is shaken.)

Let's do this!

(Let's close the gap!)

Nice.

Nice play, guys.

Listen.

If you attack from the side, Na Hee will block the inside.

(First set, Geunyoung Girls' High 6 : Wonder Dogs 4)

Here's Eun Chae from Geunyoung Girls' High serving.

That's a good serve.

Back A!

(A similar opportunity...)

(to the previous scoring situation)

She moved her position again.

(Defending it easily)

They were slightly out of sync.

Hit it!

Will it be a quick follow-up?

She makes a diving dig!

The defense couldn't hold.

Hey!

Yes!

- Great job! - You did well!

(It's easy!)

Na Yeon.

Hey, why did you go for a Back A when she was already up?

- Watch her position carefully, - Okay.

and stop using Back A!

(Back A: a type of quick attack)

(Depending on the distance of the setter's toss,)

(a 1-meter quick is called an A Quick,)

(a 2-meter quick is a B Quick,)

(and anything beyond 3 meters is a C Quick.)

(Back tosses are called Back A or Back B.)

(Back A)

(Back B)

(A quick attack is great for its speed,)

(but if the opponent catches the timing,)

(it can be blocked easily.)

If you attack from the side, Na Hee will block the inside.

The players from Geunyoung Girls' High are...

reading where Setter Na Yeon will set and defending well.

The gap was closed to just one point,

but the lead has stretched back to three points.

- That's an impressive serve. - That was sharp.

(There's an open space,)

(but he tossed short.)

The ball didn't clear the net.

(Don't you dare!)

- I'm sorry. - The score is 8 to 4,

a four-point difference.

There it is.

Okay, good.

Chae Rim receives it.

Power hit!

(But it headed right into the defender.)

She keeps the ball in the air.

Spike!

The block fails!

(Na Yeon failed to block it.)

(First set, Geunyoung Girls' High 6 : Wonder Dogs 4)

Left!

(Na Yeon failed to block it again.)

I'm so sorry.

Back to the position!

Nice reception.

(Short toss?)

(A short one again)

It's too low.

(Not a chance)

The ball lifted the ball.

What a spike!

(Consecutive points for the opponent)

I'm really sorry.

You can't let that slip!

Wonder Dogs' offense isn't really getting going.

Apart from Na Hee's right-side attack score,

they haven't managed any points from their attacks so far.

Meanwhile, the Geunyoung High players are clearly enjoying themselves out there.

Now, this could rattle Wonder Dogs a bit.

Yes, they might feel a little pressured.

I could feel trouble was brewing.

I thought, "Seriously?"

We needed to do something,

or it could become serious trouble.

Timeout.

Wonder Dogs called a timeout.

Na Yeon, come here.

Why are you going for a back B?

I told you to give a long set.

Unless you can do it with precision, Back B or Back A can't be an option.

Lift it up with a run,

and when Young In moves, give her a long set through the pipe.

Open it all up,

so she can stop in the middle comfortably.

Understand?

She kept making a short toss to Na Hee,

so Coach Kim told her to execute the long play they practiced.

It means using multiple strategies to keep the opposing middle blockers...

- from keeping up. - That's right.

The focus was on utilizing Young In a lot.

They did it completely differently from what we discussed,

so I got upset.

The efficiency of our attackers depends...

greatly on the setters' choices and accuracy.

That's why the setter position is crucial.

Everything is in a mess.

I was quite nervous.

I made a big mistake on the back toss.

My hands started shaking.

So, I focus on the mental aspect.

It's likely to happen again.

What if I make the same mistake?

Why did I even mess it up?

I was beating myself up over my own mistake.

I felt like I might make the error again.

(There was this anxiety that she could fail again.)

(Coach Kim reminds them of their plan.)

- A short one. - That's right, a short one.

- Got it? - Yes.

How many points did you let through on the short ones?

A lot.

What about the long serve?

- None. - You only gave up on the short ones.

I keep telling you to focus on the short serves!

- Take it seriously. - Okay.

Focus on reception.

A good reception is needed...

- for a good set and a strong hit. - Okay.

- Let's get the vibe back. - Okay.

And when you're subbed in, keep shouting and cheering a lot.

We've been too nervous.

Hey.

It's not about the vibe.

- You need to play proper volleyball. - Okay.

I'm talking about proper volleyball.

- Do the things we've talked about so far. - Okay.

What did I tell you about serve reception?

Short ones.

- Short ones first. - That's what I've been telling you.

What happens if we attack through the middle?

- They'll follow us. - The middle blockers will follow, right?

Then, why did you go for a quick attack?

Think about things like this. It's not about the vibe, you little.

- Keep thinking. - Okay.

- "You little" just came out. - Yes.

She gritted her teeth.

She told them what to do,

but once the game started, they were doing something else.

Because of that,

she kept talking until her voice got hoarse.

As a coach,

she has to go through that every day.

Hey.

Back A and Back B never go through. Why do you keep trying them?

Open it up and run...

It's obvious she's a rookie coach.

- She's not supposed to be on the court. - She's on the court.

She really can't go in there.

That was a tricky situation!

(When it's tricky, go for a long toss!)

Let's go, girls!

Young In!

It's all right. Relax!

My pride was hurt.

I wanted to prove myself again.

Forget the score,

I just decided to loosen up my stiff body first.

Myoung-Hwa.

(Got it.)

(Yoon Ha's serve)

Her serve isn't stable.

Here's Yoon Ha's serve.

She scores!

Nice!

Awesome!

I'll keep setting it up for you.

Thank you!

- Thanks. - Nice job, Young In.

- Thank you. - That was great, Young In.

- Tell her to feed you more! - Okay!

(Exchanging signals)

(There goes Myoung-Hwa.)

(Tricking the opposing team, using Myoung-Hwa)

Na Yeon gave Young In a nice, long toss.

They need to keep setting Young In up,

so she can hit the ball hard for a point.

Coach Kim must have asked...

for this kind of play a lot.

(Stiff)

Tossing backward.

(Throwing her body to defense)

She dove to make the defense.

- To the left, she lifts the ball again. - Mine.

(Which way will the ball go?)

(Young In's spike)

Spike!

The ball is out!

(Breaking through the block)

Young In.

- Young In has real punching power. - That's right.

It's a good idea to set it high...

and let Yoon Young In handle the attack, just like now.

Na Yeon, feed it further inside.

Wonder Dogs are narrowing the score gap.

(First set, Geunyoung Girls' High 6 : Wonder Dogs 4)

(Where will the ball go this time?)

(Nervous)

(She tosses in a long distance again!)

(Yoon Young In gains three points.)

Na-Yeon.

(Nice!)

Great job.

Way to go!

(Sighing)

I got excited at that point.

One of the puzzles was solved.

I believed that if we followed Coach Kim,

we might win.

Let's chat while we play.

We need to bring some energy in!

(Focus, everyone!)

(Jin Soo Min's powerful spike)

It bounces off from the left.

It's a chance ball!

Give it back!

(A high toss to Young In again!)

(Yoon Young In scores four points.)

Let's have fun!

(Smiling)

Nice job, Young In.

(Let's go after them!)

(Breathing deeply)

To the back.

(A fearless block)

(Yoon Young In's spike)

(She scores five points.)

Wonder Dogs continues to score!

(They are only two points behind.)

(With Na-Yeon fully warmed up,)

(Back Chae-Rim scores.)

Okay!

(Back Chae-Rim is on a scoring streak.)

They've finally tied the game.

Young In, you focus too much on the inside.

(Instructing her to spike outside)

A chance to turn the tables!

It's heading to the right!

(An outside spike)

(Is it out?)

(Or is it in?)

(In)

Wonder Dogs turned the tables!

It's in?

With the scores of 17 to 16, Wonder Dogs takes back the lead.

The sequence worked perfectly through all three steps.

Even when the high attack or toss was not stable,

Yoon Young In managed to land a powerful attack.

Lee Na-Yeon's toss was also picture-perfect.

She set the ball right on target,

and the spike was flawless.

(Never been on the pro team,)

(Yoon Young In has been the player of a corporate team for eight years.)

(Although she made a hurried retreat,)

(Lee Na-Yeon, the retired player, starts again with sincerity alone.)

Let's have fun!

Laugh and chat!

I loved working together with my teammates.

I thought that volleyball is...

something I can never let go even if I wanted to.

I was happy and welled up.

You're getting teary.

I got rid of lots of uncomfortable memories.

The game is no longer stressful.

It's fun.

Na-Yeon!

(Raising her thumb)

Keep that up.

(Na-Yeon is more confident about her toss.)

From the left!

It's a block-out.

They've got the momentum. It's 18 to 16.

A back-row attack from the middle!

It's inside the court!

(The atmosphere on the court lights up with the setter.)

I couldn't help but smile.

I knew I was right.

The more the setter gains confidence, the less restraint she has...

and the more she can play in her own style.

It would be a huge challenge for Geunyoung Girls' High.

Should I press it?

(Time-out for Geunyoung Girls' High)

(Grave)

(The atmosphere turns tense.)

You're not observing the setter at all.

If you just go for the angle and attack,

- they will obviously be ready to block. - Understood.

It's not a matter of losing a point.

- You need to take control first. - Okay.

- Isn't it right? - Yes.

- You know you can do it. - Yes!

Geunyoung!

(Geunyoung Girls' High must take back control,)

(while Wonder Dogs has to maintain it.)

(Yoon Young In serves.)

(Kim Yoon Ha's powerful spike)

(She fails to defend.)

Sorry!

(Their opposing team scores after the time-out.)

Geunyoung Girls' High doesn't miss their opportunity.

Kim Yoon Ha's hard spike worked!

Way to go!

(Geunyoung Girls' High serves.)

(They have the chance to strike back.)

That was a sharp serve, and the reception goes unstable.

(She saves the ball.)

The ball flies, and she spikes high!

(Back Chae-Rim's spike)

(The mood changes right away.)

(Happy)

(Gloomy)

(Geunyoung Girls' High attempts to counterattack.)

(But they make an error.)

(Another error)

(Making a third error)

(The mood completely shifts to Wonder Dogs.)

It's 24 to 19.

Wonder Dogs are at the set point in the first set.

- Just one more! - One more point!

(They only have one point left to win the first set.)

Don't quit. It's not over yet!

(Keeping in check)

Check where number 4 goes, Enkhsoyol.

(Na-Yeon instructs the plan to Enkhsoyol.)

- Number 17 is at the front. - Okay.

(The fate of the two teams is in a single point.)

(Wonder Dogs' set point)

Serve!

(Kim Yoon Ha serves.)

The ball goes up!

(Enkhsoyol spikes hard.)

(Super dig)

- They were able to defend. - Yes. They did.

(A free ball)

She spikes one more time!

(She succeeds to spike.)

(We won the first set!)

It's 25 to 19.

Wonder Dogs takes the first set.

You did great!

(The new head coach finally smiles.)

I was so proud of them as their head coach.

I felt that I could say, "Our players are not that weak!"

The training was really helpful for the players.

But due to our errors,

we had to give points to our opposing team.

So, as a head coach, I wondered how to solve this...

so that the players can adapt quickly.

Wonder Dogs takes the first set!

(Time-out for the second set)

Myoung-Hwa can go in the second set.

(Moon Myoung-Hwa as number 3?)

(On the volleyball court,)

(each position has its own number.)

(The head coach decides the positions for every set!)

(To strengthen the defense, in number 3,)

(Moon Myoung-Hwa, with a height of 189cm, is positioned.)

(Reliable)

Cover number 17 when number 1 goes to the right.

(Second set, Geunyoung Girls' High 0 : Wonder Dogs 0)

The second set begins with Enkhsoyol's serve.

Serve!

(Enkhsoyol serves.)

Making an underhand toss.

(Blocking)

She saves, and then Lee Na-Yeon!

It's a back attack!

The ball goes up.

Oh Eun Chae.

(They score by blocking.)

The presence of Moon Myoung-Hwa does matter.

You're right.

Nice blocking, Myoung-Hwa.

- Nice Blocking. - Great defense!

The team is off to a good start with solid blocking.

They get the point first.

It's soft.

A strong spike!

She tossed it up.

Come on.

(A mis-hit)

Sorry.

(Na-Yeon's setting error)

Sorry.

Let's try again.

When they make a bad set,

they have to get over it and move on to the next play.

It's 1 to 1.

Serve!

(Straight out of court)

It's out.

(Frustrated)

Losing the opening set in a reversal clearly took...

- the wind out of Geunyoung Girls' High. - Yes, definitely.

(This could be our chance.)

Myoung-Hwa!

Try this play.

(Giving the serving instruction)

(Target area)

- One, two, three. - One, two, three.

(Serve hits the spot!)

I'll get it!

Ace serve!

(The strategy worked perfectly.)

Myoung-Hwa owns the second set.

That was amazing!

Block and serve!

Amazing!

(Myoung-Hwa's serve)

Myoung-Hwa.

(Target serve to zone three)

Oh, man!

(Serve missed the target zone.)

Is it crossing the net?

They kept it alive.

Attack!

Strong hit from Yoo Da Eun!

Yoo Da Eun and Kim Yoon Ha's...

attacking duo is proving very effective.

I gave Myoung-Hwa a signal, but she hit it short to the middle.

It was a serving error.

- I told you to hit Zone three. - I know, but I missed.

Serve.

It is now three to two.

They failed to receive and lost a point.

Three to three.

Geunyoung Girls' High School caught up.

Wait for it. Don't rush.

They're not so fast.

Serve.

That's it.

Nice pass.

- Mine! - Oh, no!

The ball is out!

(Out)

No touch.

- They called it out. - Yes, correct.

(It was a touch.)

She's requesting a video challenge.

(It was a touch.)

One of a coach's key skills...

- is knowing when to call for... - Yes, a video review.

Video challenge.

It looked like there was a touch.

(The Wonder Coach is confident.)

- What? - No?

- Seemed so to me. - I thought it was a no-touch.

Really? We'll find out soon.

That's Yoo Da Eun.

The attack went right through the two blockers.

(Staring at the screen)

(It was a no-touch!)

After review,

It wasn't a touch-out.

Damn it.

They confirmed it wasn't a touch-out.

Calling for a video review isn't an easy job for a coach.

- When you're playing, - Of course.

you can say...

whatever you think you saw and insist on it,

but a coach needs to make a call.

(The Wonder Dogs lost their lead.)

Nice pass by Enkhsoyol.

(The Wonder Dogs caught up!)

Nice work.

(Second set, Geunyoung Girls' High 4 : Wonder Dogs 4)

Tossed high into the air.

Powerful hit in the middle!

(Geunyoung Girls' High quickly regained the lead, 5 to 4.)

Back-row attack, on the move!

They scored a point.

I think that was their first back-row attack of the day.

(Jung Sol Min's diving dig)

Diving dig!

- Look. - They're passing.

They're passing it around, then a powerful spike!

Go!

(Is it our point?)

Go!

(Unbelievable dig to keep it in play)

Jung Da Eun hits it, and it's going over.

It's going over!

Unbelievable save!

The rally's getting longer. What a scramble.

(Someone needs to end this.)

Another powerful strike from the wing!

- Nice attack. - Point for the Wonder Dogs.

(Rise high, Wonder Dogs!)

Nice work!

- Nice. - We're doing great.

(Wonder Dogs leading, seven to eight)

That was an amazing play.

Both teams deserve applause for that rally.

Yes, it was a mega-rally.

I really thought Geunyoung Girls' High wouldn't be able to return it.

Look right there.

I can't believe she saved that.

(The undisputed ace, Jung Sol Min)

Nice work, Sol Min.

Let's do this.

(So charismatic)

(In the next rally...)

A direct kill!

Sorry.

- Yes! - Nice job!

They seized the opportunity.

It's tied at 8 to 8.

They're setting it up...

and going for a back-row attack!

(Jin Soo Min's hustle play)

A pass, then a surprise tip.

(A surprise tip)

- Oh, no. - Lost the point.

Back on top, 9 to 8.

All right, you're doing great!

(Neck and neck, only one point apart)

Nice blocking!

Geunyoung Girls' High kept catching up to us,

and I started to feel a bit rattled.

Many games are decided by just one or two points.

We call that a one-point game.

I believe that one point is decided by the smallest details.

What should I do at this point?

I kept thinking about that while I was watching.

They passed it.

Another powerful strike!

- A successful block! - Nice blocking.

(Another point lost)

Enkhsoyol.

Geunyoung Girls' High scores on the block!

Back-to-back blocks by Geunyoung Girls' High.

Nice blocks, girls.

It seems like the Wonder Dogs need to know that,

in this kind of ongoing rally game,

they need to stabilize their connections a bit.

(They have to regain control.)

It occurred to me that today's game might be quite challenging.

I wanted to do something to help the players...

and I thought they needed a wake-up call.

(Something has to be done!)

Myoung-Hwa, move in advance.

Let's do this, girls.

Nice positioning, Young In.

(Is she simply checking their positions?)

(Or is this a strategy by the Wonder Coach?)

(Enkhsoyol's serve)

(An offensive opportunity for Geunyoung Girls' High)

Myoung-Hwa blocked the ball!

Moon Myoung-Hwa!

(A perfect defense)

In the second set,

the Wonder Dogs got a point off a block.

They made it seem like they were covering the line,

but Young In redirected it.

As far as I know, Coach Yeon Koung...

actually came up with this tactic beforehand.

Nice one, Young In.

Great positioning for the block.

Most of their offense is going through the left side.

So we can use a trick. Make it seem like we're guarding the line,

but where do we really block?

In between.

(Just like Coach Yeon Koung's tactic,)

(she moved her spot a bit...)

(and successfully blocked the ball.)

Our goal for this game is...

to finish this game without the opponent knowing our tactic.

(Right after her attack was blocked,)

(the opponent looks shaken.)

Sorry.

(This is what I'm talking about.)

(The score is now 12 to 13, advantage Wonder Dogs)

Serve!

Kim Yoon Ha to serve.

One, two, three.

That was a tough pass.

(A super powerful spike!)

She hit it cross-court.

They saved it.

Block!

(Back-to-back blocking points)

Point for us again!

(The coach's tactic is working.)

That was amazing.

Myoung-Hwa is on fire!

(The blocking queen, Myoung-Hwa)

In her pro days, if I recall correctly,

Myoung-Hwa's record for the most blocks in a game is seven.

And she's already blocked three in today's game.

Myoung-Hwa is on a blocking roll.

(It's a blocking party out here.)

It was such a rush.

Every time I felt lost about how to block,

the coach gave me solutions.

Detailed solutions.

Such as, "Get the timing right."

Don't rush it. Wait.

She tells me where to look.

Look at my fingers.

(The rookie coach encourages them to keep at it.)

She gives us effective advice.

(To some, Moon Myoung-Hwa might seem slow.)

(But today,)

(she's the nimblest on the court.)

Myoung-Hwa.

(Thumbs up for the quick Myoung-Hwa.)

Great job, Myoung-Hwa.

(A serve from Myoung-Hwa, the rookie blocker.)

Nice serve.

(Another successful block?)

Hit it!

It drops to the right.

(An impenetrable wall of single block.)

(Wonder Dogs never tumble down.)

The energetic play and teamwork are leading to scores!

The Wonder Dogs' blocking is amazing in the second set!

(Dumbfounded)

It's okay.

- I'm sorry. - It's alright.

Young In, get closer to the net.

Wait at the front and go for it at the end.

(Wonder Dogs' "sheriff," Moon Myoung-Hwa, serves.)

(Another one?)

It's left this time. Will it score?

(Consecutive blocking scores)

It's another point!

(It's a party now!)

Gosh!

The Geunyoung Girls' High needs to know...

that the Wonder Dog players at the side...

are sending their blocks to the center.

But Geunyoung Girls' High's spikes are all aiming at the middle!

How many blocks did they get?

The Wonder Dogs are blocking everything in the second set!

I can see that our players...

understood and carried out the plan.

The successes give me a thrill.

I'm so proud of them.

Coach Kim's debut match only starts now!

(Let's get it started!)

(A close competition continues.)

(Loss)

(Another loss)

(The tide turns immediately.)

(How will her debut match turn out?)

They go against the Altos, a pro team.

(And a veteran coach with 30 years of experience.)

- Show some mercy, please. - What a thing to say!

(I'll show no mercy.)

(The Woner Dogs' coach...)

(must beat a pro team.)

(And the pro team's coach can't be beaten...)

(by the underdogs.)

(It's a fierce match between the two coaches.)

(The defenders)

(And the takers)

(Who will win this volleyball war?)
